Ideas for your life that's lesson number one in the early life of David. Today's Destin for victory message lessons from the pasture first Samuel chapter 16 and will take the time and read the first 12 verses just to give you a fuller context of the things I'll be sharing first Samuel chapter 16, beginning with verse one the Lord said to Samuel, how long would you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel. Fill your horn with oil and be on your way.

I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem had chosen one of his sons to be king, but Samuel said, how can I go Saul will hear about it and kill me. The Lord said, take a heifer with you and say I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.

Invite Jesse to the sacrifice and I will show you what to do. You are too annoying for me.

The one I indicate Samuel did what the Lord said when he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met and they asked do you come in peace Samuel replied yes and peace I've come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me many consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice. When they arrived, Samuel Saul Elliott have been thought surely the Lord's anointed stands before the Lord, but the Lord said to Samuel do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.

Man look to be out with appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart then Jesse called Ben a dab and had him pass in front of Samuel Santos of the Lord is not chosen this one either. Jesse then had shall not pass by but Samuel said north of the Lord chosen this one. Jesse had seven of his sons passed before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, the Lord is not chosen these so we asked Jesse.

Are these all the sons you have there is still the youngest, Jesse answered, but he is tending the sheep.

Samuel said send for him. We will not sit down until he arrives. So we sent and had him brought in. He was writing with a fine appearance and handsome features.

Then the Lord said it relies and anoint him. He is the one I want to spend some time examining the life of David there so much written extensively in the script is about and we can examine every detail but I want to get the key highlights of the life of David in this series I'm launching through this message and I want to do so because there is so much to be gained from a character study of David. I don't want to suggest again the historical information. Although the scriptural record of David's life is historically accurate. But I want us to look at it because things written aforetime. Paul said in Romans 15 a written prior learning. Always remember, although we are people of the new covenant, the new covenant is directly tied to the old covenant. So don't think that not only speaks to you about your life in the last 27 books of the Bible all 66 key role to play in our understanding of redemptive history and our understanding of god's plan for our lives and truly that's the case when you look at the lives of people such as david. there is much to be gained there so i want to spend some time looking at his life now notice, we are introduced to david here in first samuel chapter 16 and i want you to look at the circumstances surrounding how we come to know this.

at that point john boy is verse one tells us that saul has been rejected as king.

when you read the chapters preceding first samuel 16 you understand that israel, although it was not god's plan for them. they wanted a king over them.

they wanted to be like other nations, who had a king. now the reason why that was not god's plan was because god was there. king, and so it was in the mind of god that they would simply be read by judges and by the prophets, he would send along from time to time but no, that wasn't good enough for them.

they said we want a king, and so in response to their request.

the lord told samuel alright i'm going to have you anointed king, and although it's not a good idea. it's not my plan. they think they want. again, good looking lord gave them saul and saul disobeyed god and honored god and was not forthcoming about his sin, and the lord rejected him out one of the things you want to notice in this time in redemptive history is told that god has rejected him as king saul range for years and will after this that we just read takes place. the anointing of david. david is anointed saul continues to rain, but i want you to know that he was rejected by god, and it doesn't matter what you keep doing it.

god rejects you, your rejected god, except to another man doesn't accept you and god accept you.

you are accepted, and so the lord said, i have rejected saul yes you go to rain for years. more but is not going to rain under my anointing. i have rejected him so god sends his prophet samuel to anoint the next king of israel. he is not going to ascend to the throne for some time, but in the mind and plan and purpose of god appears to be anointed now. that leads me to the very first point i want us to take away from this study of the early life of david. i want you to know that there are some god ideas for your life that's lesson number one in the early life of david. there are some god ideas for your life.

a lot of us are in the business of coming up with good ideas for our lives going to tell you the difference between a good idea and i got an idea a good idea. something that is seems that beautiful workout seems to you. this would be the plan you should follow. seems that you visit the road you want to travel in your life seems to you visit the decision you want to make.

but the reality is there are some god ideas that whatever you do you want to make sure that every god idea is implemented in your life because god ideas have been doing the things god has called you to do they have to do with your spiritual dna, they have to do with why god saved you in the first place, and there are some god ideas for all of our lives here and for several 16 verse one we are told that god says, i have chosen one of jesse's sons to be king.

god is sovereign in the cyber god ordained in eternity past that david would succeed saul.

now this is noteworthy because saul had a son who by all appearances should have been his successor, you are familiar, perhaps with jonathan later were going to discover comfortably david's closest friend and ally and jonathan from every parent had the making of a king. he wanted a good idea for king but god is trying to get us from the idea mindset to the god idea mindset and although it would seem to us looking at a dead jonathan should've ascended to the throne after his father was rejected. god said no i'm not show him i am somber and i decided that david is the be the king to get used to the idea that we serve a sovereign god. what that means that god doesn't stop by your house and ask you what you think about what he will do. they really doesn't take public polls. he is not interested in what we think god is sovereign, that means you can't appeal if you don't like what he said there's nobody you can go to where you whether the hallway somehow your court. there's always some second opinion if you are court judgments you don't like or judgment is rendered against you and you don't like it you can request an appellate court and granted another court will look at what i coordinated and whether they agree or not like that. you might even appeal to the state supreme court don't like that.

you might even try to go to the national supreme court something in god's economy. when god said that there is nothing else to be this god there is no other opinion that matters. when god is sovereign over there.if we say god seven i believe and that settles it and starts doing it would mean we said we were in agreement with what god said. god said, that settles it. you believe in wonderful believing too bad it still settled in heaven. that's the nature of the god we serve because i found out one day that every knee will bow and every tongue that jesus christ is lord later still have the second half of today's destined for victory message with pastor paul shepherd, senior pastor destiny christian fellowship in fremont, california.

Saul was king of Israel, but he was God's choice is join Pastor Paul for the rest of today's message lessons from the pasture will right now, but no name I pray that your thinning hair, make up what you're going to do with the will of God. What the Bible says that one really including you going about you are going to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord doing what we think it has to do with what God had for Dame Don Solberg, the universe is why Jesus could make such a statement in John 14 when he was telling his disciples that he will soon believe this but he said don't let your heart be troubled you believe in God believe also in me. I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am, there you may be also. Verse six of John 14 the way the truth and ally.

No man comes to the father but by me.

That's about Daisy statement and in today's politically correct climate that is a statement that makes a lot of friends, including some Christian really sounds arrogant that sounds so narrow the way she one day you want to get what you think about that and you can believe it now or you will know you see some preacher on CNN one time and again try to jam them up.

You believe that only Christians are going to heaven and the poor fellow just sweated and what have you and trying to come up with an answer that one too many out there wondering when you think doesn't matter what we think what you think what we think she will tell you what he said. He said no man comes to the father but by me.

With only going to happen and how many people are getting Jesus so they can get to God the father, not between you, but I'm telling you Jesus only, and so you will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

We serve a sovereign God the father God in the counsel of his will that David would be the next King. When God has a meeting with only one that shows up in making meaning here and in the counsel of will. God met with himself back. That's all going to be rejected.

One day in since then, and that he would have to be replaced, and God himself who we are going to pick the successor and God himself to be the successor and not agreeing with himself, and they put down the minutes of the meeting in the counsel of the law will will negotiate with us you just decide that it is so good thing done the same thing about your life and not just about the heroes of the faith. David done the same thing about your life that you are called of God means that he has some ideas about your life. Made something since it about your life. Some of them are general in nature but some of them are very specific in nature Gen. what I mean by that. The reason why because God decided that he love you so much that he would send his son all your sins on the cross and that he would make salvation available to you through Jesus Christ and God decided that you would be saved by grace through faith God made that decision say you and that will… It was a man on the people we knew we needed to be saved. Jesus had come to save us before we knew what she felt like Jesus had paid the price for us so we are say.idea.idea that having been saved will bear the righteousness that God would develop godly character will of God. We say God wants you to bear fruit. Christian in name only want to be a Christian that says you say, but your life by he wants to make you the person is called God is in the business of developing character in us replacing hatred with love replacing anxiety with peace, replacing frustration and unhappiness in a filament would enjoy replacing inpatients with patients, people who can't take anything you the ability to take Max to stick it out to wait it out where he's taking you that many of us don't have sales but God said work in you both to will and do my own pleasure, so he is at work developing that and bearing spiritual fruit is also at work enough to make us a blessing to other is given a spiritual gift of natural ability that will take them to him.

We can bless the lives of other people, and God has no intention of having you leave this planet not having touch somebody's life the reason he saved you will so that you would do good works for a lot of reasons to eight and nine. What you need to learn to and also reasons 289, said by grace will be saved through faith that not of ourselves. It is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast but can be said for we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus which God prepared man's for us to do so.

God intends to use you don't even think about leaving this planet. When you haven't gotten your work done yet God intends to use you to touch somebody's life. You minister to the needs of people and ministry to do the things that he has called you to do and that's where his calling lies goes from general to specific specific ways in which God wants you to bless the lives of others that would have to do when you're calling David was called the BK became we don't even live in that kind of system station, but their realm in which you live and operate and God had calling for you in your life with everything we want you to do all he wants you to play in the lives of other people in your calling your calling may or may not be related to your location in Davis case, the calling and vocation will be one of the same signal to become king that will be his life. That would be in vocation that will be a calling that encompasses everything he does his identity. That's not always the case. Calling is lined up when your vocation or in a separate make sure that your vocation get your calling Cofield get your calling for Phil was a different location is what you are paid to do your calling is what you are made to do your calling is what you're made to do it. If you're on the planet is why you are say some people are by vocational, so to speak. I know missionaries and people plant churches in whatever and they work the secular job. The apostle Paul did that as he planted churches.

He was a tent maker by trade, the way he paid his bills out of the way to the needs of others.

He was a tent maker and so sometimes your vocation simply enter your lifestyle the ability for you to pay your bill so that you can focus on your calling me wanting to say you can walk your secular job and still consider your self full-time and ministry. My whole life ministry even though I might work with this company in this business for when I went back lifestyle serving others, so that I can fulfill my calling. Calling. Just as David was called to be king of Israel. You were called by God for a specific purpose and you are uniquely designed to fulfill it.
