Keeping in Step with the Spirit, Part 2

In other words, how do we avoid getting too far behind, or too far ahead.

Now for today's message keeping in step with the Spirit Galatians chapter 5, beginning with verse 13 will go down through inclusion of the chapter, Paul says you, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature rather, serve one another in love.

Entire law is summed up in a single command.

Love your neighbor as yourself. If you keep on biting and devouring each other. Watch out or you will be destroyed by each other so I say live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature for the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the spirit and the spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature they are in conflict with each other so that you do not do what you want, but if you are led by the spirit you are not under the law, the acts of the sinful nature are obvious sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like.

I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit led us. Keep in step with the spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking, and envying each other. We continue to look at key passages in Paul's letter to the churches in Galatia, where he has been instructing us about the importance of walking in the freedom that we have in Christ. In the last message we began to look at the earlier portion of this chapter. Galatians chapter 5 and we saw that Paul made the case that we must stand firm and walk in the freedom that Christ has given us a course in the context we have seen that he has been talking about the fact that Judaizers had infiltrated the church and insisted that the Gentiles who were being say, would have to convert to Judaism and have to be circumcised and adhere strictly to Jewish law if they would be justified in the sight of God. And this of course was not in keeping with the gospel message and so Paul is correcting them and telling them some of you are getting circumcised and beginning to buy a lie that you have gotta become observers of the law as a means of justifying yourself before God and is making the case that no one is ever going to be justified before God. As a result of their own efforts to observe the law and in the course of making the point.

We gotta learn to keep in step with the spirit what it means to keep in step with the spirit with what God is doing in your life you keep in step with God's movements in your life.

There are three factors we have covered lawn and we are currently looking at the second.

That means we put our trust in Christ everyday. The only way you live the way God wants you to live in. You have to trust him day by day.

Christianity is not something you can put on cruise control.

Why because it's a relationship not a religion. It has to do with your walking with God. That's the key element to Christianity and is walking with God literally keeping in step with God every day I wake up and say Lord I am not personally capable of living a life that pleases you, but walking with you having your spirit with me and empower me being directed by you will do what you have called me to do and I'll stay in touch with you. So Lord help me to walk with you today. Learn to walk in everyday life. You gotta trust Christ for salvation and trust him to meet your needs trust him to give you victory them to give you guidance. Trust in what they're doing in your life. The Bible says we all by faith not by sight. And so we have to learn that the first step to keep the spirit of living and walking by faith.

Now we are currently looking at the second which is walking in love. He said the only thing that matters is faith expressing itself in love and love what it means to walk in love.

The fact of the matter is we are called to love God, the great commandment to love God with all of our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Now there are a lot of Christians who want to love God and choose and pick up the quote that they like. Not you, but people I know God loving God, but believers to dislike or perhaps even hate certain individual well I got a word from the Lord for you. You love God and then hate people he loves.

He calls you to level. We love the Lord because he first loved us. And now that we responded with loving him back. He now says the great commandment is not only the love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind, but watch this love your neighbor as your self. We just thought mentioned in the text. We are called to love our neighbors along with ourselves and so we got to get out lives right now. Just when your spouse or significant other.

God loves we have to learn to love all the people in the church that we have personality clashes with missing the charge of the family. The Bible says in Ephesians 4 be angry, but don't sin, don't let the sun go down on your wrath and give no place what that means is you have the right people, you have the right to tell people what they did that with Jesus said your brother up and you rebuke him, you have the right to say listen, I don't appreciate what you just said to me, I don't appreciate why or how you said that I don't like that that gets on my nerves.
