Welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee weekend edition Pastor David McGee is internationally recognized for his unique conversational verse by verse and chapter by chapter teaching through the word of God. We have hundreds of his teachings through the many books of the Bible, and encourage you to visit, cross the bridge.com to study the Scriptures along with Pastor David right now open your Bible to the Old Testament book of Job and follow along for today's teaching pastor David has been teaching practical lessons from the life of Job.

We are finding out that what needed to be learned. Back then, still needs to be learned today. I think you'll find that to be true today and tomorrow as we take a closer look at chapter 31. Now here's Pastor David go with me to Job, chapter 31 we been going through the book of Joe for a while. We've been doing that two chapters.

In the evening with chapter 31, we find ourselves split 40 verses in the chapter sort of stick with just one chapter for tonight. It looks like will be going one chapter rather than two chapters for the last dozen or so we've been in jail and we realize that a lot of people have mistaken notions about what this book says and what it's about.

And when you see general comforters they're friends of his, they're called to comfort Joe. They're able to comfort Joe, but they don't comfort Joe they come off with these religious platitudes. And you know things that might be true that are relevant and we need to be careful in moments like these because a lot of times people are even looking for words and I'm looking for you to say anything that you want a basic it's interesting that the traditions are sitting. She thought and you hover mirrors with towels or something, so there's no mirror in the house so that people don't have to check to see what they look like if they can morning.

You know, your eyes get puffy and you don't need a miracle room to set and then people cotton just sent this was caught sitting Shiva, you just come and you sit there and you speak on the way and that you might not say anything. The rest of the time till you leave talent by now till our mind, we can say anything wiser at their once a point in your presence taken the time to set somebody taking the time to say hey I'm here that's much better than trying to act like you have all the answers is finished cooking times in life when you don't have all the answers there's been times like that in my life and meet some of the things of that. We been through and triple funerals channels 305070 and we didn't have all the answers and some of the situations that you have people at visited the church a couple of times in a couple years but still not happen. We reached out we were there.

I wouldn't come and gone years he answered. Here's what this means in your Job's comforters. They're big, Angela. That's all because you're a sinner, Joe Minnis okay so it Job Center audit. God bless a sinner before, so you've got these three guys sit with Joe Bildad so far in Euless as let's notice something and all scripture is for our blessing and our business to understand and to apply it. Here's what's interesting how old your fingers on chapter 31 let's go back to Job chapter 1 verse one says, there was a man in the land of ours whose name was Joe and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil goes on to say he had seven sons, three daughters had a lot of blessings a lot of industry going on crops and buildings and whatnot enemy begins to take that even though war in verse eight Joe chapter 1 verse eight in the works of Satan, have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man and one who fears God and shines evil, now is go back to chapter 31 and will read through here.

Let's understand. Here's a first life lesson from the beginning of the book the reader of Joe is told that Job is good and upright, and fears God and avoid signal were told that vacant the very first verse and then again God himself.

In verse eight, so why are we told that where we told the Jews that shuns evil will believe that the Lord wants to make it very plain about the character of Job limits as Jones evil. This is an interesting thing were told to submit to God. Resist the devil and then you flee from Telesis says submit yourself to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Amen and must understand about the enemy. James records that he's walking around looking for whom he may devour the very interesting thing.

What happens in the lien community. When the male line and the big one with all that hair, he is big and has this voice like you wouldn't believe until he works and what happens when he roars is all the animals that were still in the safe and in groups, take off running like in the lionesses honestly do most of the work they're sitting there for six of them waiting for all these animals and take off running right into the clutches and so then they bring the animals back in and share them with the mail. The point is the male line worse. And if the animals didn't react to the world war they would be hurt because they take off running when they hear the roar of the get in trouble will that'll preach one.

It doesn't say run from the enemy to submit yourself to God. Resist the enemy and he will flee from you in understanding we talk about the spirit all the time because of so so relevant parable of the summer you start to get the word and then you are attacked because of what because the work are persecuted because of what the word enemy wants to not have you get an order so were immediately told that Joe is a good man who shuns evil so we need to remove the thought that Job wasn't hacked because there was hidden sin is life, which that's that's what his three friends do that. So here's it was the faith and goodness of Joe not hidden sin that was the reason for the attack setting was that they think goodness of Joe not hidden sin that was the reason for the attack. When people come here and hear the were born again or they come back to the Lord and they hear me talk about stepping up and serving. Maybe they've never served. Maybe they've never given that they step out the store and immediately theirs is that she just blessing of knowing your walking and what you were created to do a man and most most folks you haven't been invited to serve in the church is a dependent such a unique thinker course. But then when we step out to serve what happens after couple weeks and the enemy always always always different forms different words different people you know. Maybe it's a spouse you spend too much time at the literature and a guy hair and then what you do is you stand strong okay don't run and there's a blessing you grow through that through a trial coming in you resisting the easy way out and you grow in the next task you grow more and then through the list has you become very strong in your faith and the question is how you respond to the events in your life was really good Job, chapter 31 verse one have made a covenant with my eyes. Why should I look upon a young woman for what is the allotment of God from above in the inheritance of the Almighty from on high.

Is it not destruction. For the wicked in disaster for the workers of iniquity does not seem always, steps if I have walked with foster or if my foot has hastened to this treatment may be waived on honest scales. God made no my integrity in my step is turned from the way or my heart walked over my eyes. My heart walked after my eyes were heavily spotted. Here's to my hands and let me so another E yes let my harvest be rooted out if my heart is been enticed by a woman. I have lurked at my neighbor's door, then let my wife grind for another, or service from another and let others bow down over that would be wickedness. Yes, it would be iniquity deserving of judgment for that would be a fire that consumes two destruction and would root out all my increase. Verse 13 if I have despised the calls of my male or female servant, maidservants or menservants some translation when the complaint against me. What then shall I do when God rises up when he punishes how shall I answer him did not he who made me in the womb. Make them did not the same one fashion us in the womb for 16 if I have kept the poor from their desire or cause the eyes of the widow to fail or eat the marshal by myself so that the fatherless could not eat of it from my use reared him as a father for my mother's womb. I guided the widow verse 19. If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing for any poor man without covering. If his heart has not blessed me, and if he was not informed of the fleece of my sheet if I have raised my hand against the fatherless. When I saw I had help in the gate and let my arm fall from my shoulder that my arm be torn from the socket for distraction from God is a terror to me and because of his magnificence.

I cannot endure if I have made go. My hope or said the Feingold. You are my confidence.

If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great and because my hand and gained my if I have observed the sun when it chimes of the moon moving in brightness, so that my heart has been secretly enticed in my mouth is kissed my hand. This also would be an inquiry deserving of judgment. For I would have denied God who is above verse 29 is I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted myself up when you will found in DI have not allowed my mouth to send by asking for a curse on his soul. If the men of my 10 have not said it was there that has not been satisfied with his meet, but no sojourner had to watch in the street, for I have opened my doors to the traveler while get a picture that Job is helping out the poor in closing their families given them food and that is been a blessing. So we see he was being responsible with the increase that he been given that he was helping to provide for others. He wasn't inviting. He was obviously a good, keep reading verse 33. If I have covered my transgressions as Adam hiding my iniquity in my bosom, name dropping, true.

You can also text the word encourage 29453 to receive a short encouraging text from us each day. That's 94253 and now back to the teaching. He mentioned that. And he said that I have covered my transgressions like out.

Now let's remember, Joe is the oldest book of the five older even than the first five books written before. Obviously Genesis deals with the time frame that's Joe Dartmouth the beginning of the world. Job itself is written before them. We believe that obviously people were already talking about how God created the earth and help what happened with Adam that he for his transgression is coming to the Lord with instead of not eating the fruit to begin with verse 34 because I feared the great multitude, and dreaded the contempt of families that are kept silence and did not go out of the door. All that I had one to hearing here is my mark that the Almighty would answer me that my prosecutor had written a book Shirley Allen carried on my shoulder and bind it on me like a crown, declared to him the number of my steps like a prince I would approach in my land cries out against lead in its first week together.

If I have eating its fruits without our cost, its owners to lose their lives and let thistles progress to the weight and we instead of borrowing the words of Joe are ended. The chapter and verse divisions came much later in time, they were there in the beginning, the original winders didn't put them in their the chapters were added before 1500, the verses about 1500 and street a few more verses here in verse in chapter 32 because her are some interesting things here that will include in chapter 31 Phyllis reduction versus chapter 32 of Job verse one, so these three men ceased answering Joe because he was righteous in his allowance and the wrath of Ella who the son of barracks, but as I have the family of the lamb was aroused against Job's wrath was aroused because he justified himself rather than God. Also against his three friends.

His wrath was aroused because they had found no answer. And yet, had taken him Joe now because they were years older than he, Ella, who had waited to speak to Joe Pennell saw that there was no answer. In the mouth of these three men is wrath was aroused fantasies is wrath not just of the equalization that is half over and over to his wrath is anger. Discuss just seething with anger over what is been hearing so verse six through Ella who the son of barracks, but I answered and said I am young in years and you are very old.

Therefore, I was afraid and did not declare my opinion to you. I said age should speak in multitude of years should teach wisdom since Manson is respecting the he showing him great respect and honor to the older folk city sitting with saying that a multitude of years should teach wisdom that there is a spirit in man and breath of the Almighty give some understanding Allison list. Great men are not always wise since he will become outlaws on time stuck great men are not always wise, nor do the aged always understand justice, we would lose few verses to get a better picture of what's happening. Chapter 30 mouth. Let me encouraging something whenever your study in the world and encourage you to read and study here but also outside of your develop your own study time and stuff when you first come here if you've never been to a truck for you will really fit before it's an awesome thing to you. Come here in and you get fed and the equipment really is a nursing so at first, we've got about that your nursing from a Negro to solitude and answer your come in here and at first this is if this is probably 100% of your spiritual diet.

But that's far from the goal of what we wanted to we want you to develop your own spiritual disciplines outside a here and begin regional Bible see you begin to read your Bible, hopefully on a daily basis you begin to receive from God outside if you suggest the proportion you begin to receive more outside of here in glass. Here you're still getting stuff from here, but you also get outside of and that's what the Lord would but don't get confused and say what I'm just not getting as much out of the teaching. Praise God. That's what's supposed to be happening to a certain degree I'm able.

Outside of here. To engage in import studies in deep stuff and make an application and I would encourage you guys to be doing the same thing. Here's a Bible study to win your were looking at versus looking at phrases, words may encourage you to look at multiple translations, trusted translations. About study to use multiple trusted translations when studying verse, break the first down in the works. Look at the words in the Hebrew or the Greek and in the Strong's concordance strong point is like a dictionary for the five most of her electronic now and you can look in there and it defines the word. It shows you where the word appears in other places great thing that I have sent you look at those words and there you look at different translations that personally start in the King James go to King James Bible have had for long time and I don't I don't use a here is falling apart, present, and look into the new King James and then if it's the Old Testament going to the Hebrew don't automatically go into the Greek and the New Testament look into the new living translation, which is a very readable translation we care for the footnotes in with the new living translation you want to look back at what the new King James is so when you look at those things are some interesting things here, especially in chapter 32 chapter 32 verse one in the new living translation says this Job's three friends refused to reply further to him because he kept insisting on his and his message insisting on his innocence for an hour getting to see that Job's response was not what it should have been. Now he wasn't attacked because it done something wrong. He was attacked because it done something right there that goes against human nature.

The first thing when something goes wrong way to test or trial or some bad happens, we tend to think only goodness, what did I do and if it happened to somebody else.

We immediately think what what did they do. What did they do that that happened to your story really impacted me as a young believer was in the Gospel of John, the disciples have such an increase radical display of grace because these guys bring this woman caught in adultery. Amazing.

Most of the Bibles. There is a title for that chapter is the adulterous woman marks through that and wrote forgiven woman the amount that's what we call her here to beautiful picture to THE first reference not done anything wrong.

So, the first of beautiful amazing. The disciples row seats to this amazing life changing, so they continue walking see a blind man in a course there like all Jesus were filled with compassion heals a blind man no when other settlers were feeling so blessed and so generously listless skip the blind man a gift, no see one of the most beautiful displays of grace effort after watching that the disciples walked past the blind man inside who send members.

Things like that. This is one of those times when I think they can invested and we should remember that story is Jesus. Neither but that the glory of God could be display in this blind man and to get kicked out of the temple. Jesus heals and he gets kicked out of the Temple leadership brings him in front of them to interrogate them fully him and he makes one of the greatest theological statement of alto when they start asking him about the Messiah pieces. I was blind but now I said Newton. He stuck the ability to put the disciples who send him or his parents loved Pastor Chuck's analogy of lying a lot of times is like us coming to an accident saying a car and a lot of the same over, like the police. We show up and figure out who's right and wrong when none were more like the EMTs that show up in the heel and intervene and try to stop death and destruction in illness and disease. We show up to help, not to figure out who who's to blame God will do that and I'll do it in a way that's for merciful, more merciful, Neil and I were back Job so he was a good man but he wasn't innocent he could say US in his life Isaac Job was a good man. He was a very very good man is not innocently Job was not a perfect man.

He said Job was a good man. He was a very very good man but he was not an innocent man.

Job was not a perfect man.

These first few verses of chapter 32 reveal chapter 31, Job 32 two says this was kindled the wrath of Ella who the sun up there the bus I of the kindred of RAM against Joe was as wrath candles because he justified himself rather than God, the new King James version reads similar because he justified himself rather than God. The complete Jewish Bible in verse two is within the anger of Ella who the set up there because I from the family plan blazed up against a yellowed for thinking he was right in God role that that's an interesting translation, see how you going to the different translations and ads your understanding. Joe was presenting himself as being right in God being wrong and he was trying to justify himself rather than God. In chapter 31 when ever you think I should be impressed with your integrity.
