We pray that you get the pastor's wisdom and discernment and that the congregations would just explode with your love in Jesus name Amen amen brother will tell us a little bit about the teaching today. Pastor will pass.

Today was the remind us that bitterness can affect so much in our life and prevent us from being a blessing to other people. In what ways will when you have bitterness. You likely have unforgiveness and having unforgiveness can prevent us from receiving forgiveness from Jesus sounds like something we can all learn from.

So let's listen as Pastor David continues teaching through second Samuel chapter 17 the life of David were in the midst Absalom is in the midst of rebelling against David Absalom is Damon sign and yet he's not attaining to the kingdom of God because of his own selfishness and some people doing with Absalom including the people will join with Absalom. Is this man I fell who is very wise person has been a godly man but something took him off track to move quickly to the first two thirds of this chapter and get to what I think is the real me of what we can take away tonight, but let's remember, extremely gifted man extremely wise men. Let's open up a second Samuel chapter 16 verse 23 is the last verse of the preceding chapter before chapter 17 verse 23 says that the advice of the fellow, which he gave in those days was in as one had inquired at the oracle of God's it was all the advice of his elbows with David and with Absalom. Chapter 17 verse one. Moreover, his appeal said the Absalom. Now let me choose 12,000 men will arise and pursue David tonight I will come upon him while he was weary and weak and making afraid that all the people who are with them will flee, and I will strike only the King. Then I will bring back all the people to you when all return except the man whom you see all the people will be at peace and saying pleased Absalom and all the elders of Israel. Then Absalom said now call how shy they are tried. Also, let us hear what he says to and when her checking Absalom. Absalom spoke to him saying fellow spoken in this manner shall we do as he says. If not, speak up so shafted Absalom the advice of those given is not good at this time there was a qualifier at this force and how shy you know your father and his men, that they are mining in and they are enraged in their minds like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field in your father's a man of war and will not camp with the people.

Surely by now he is hidden in some Pitner and some other place and it will be when some of them are overthrown at the first that whoever hears it will say there is a slaughter among the people who follow Absalom any of you going to extract him and some you guys get killed people to hear that you're losing verse 10 and even he who is valiant in his heart is like the heart of the line will melt completely for all Israel knows that your father's a mighty man and those who are within our valiant men.

Therefore, advise verse 11. Therefore, advise that all Israel be fully gathered to you from Dan to Beersheba, like the sand that is by the sea for multitude, and that you go to battle and so will come upon them in someplace where he mainly found and we will fall on him as the falls on the ground and of him and all the men who are within there shall not lease left so much as one.

Moreover, he is withdrawn into a city that all Israel shall bring roads to that city. We will pull it into the river until there is not one small stone found there to Absalom and all the men of Israel said the advice of how shy they are tried is better than the advice of for the Lord and purpose to defeat the good advice of his fellow to the intent of the Lord might bring disaster on Absalom. Verse 15 then how shy Sid is a document before the priest lesson so if Phil advised Absalom in the elders of Israel and thus and so I have advise. Now therefore send quickly and tell David say and do not spend this night the planes of the wilderness was speedily crossover less the king and all the people are within be swallowed up now. Jonathan and Amy has stated in Wrobel, but I dare not be seen coming into the city for a female servant would come and tell them and they would go until King David said there's this communication chain.

That's beginning to happen. Trying to get to David so Jonathan name Hauser try to get him they come to this place to this lady's house.

Verse 18 nevertheless allowed Saul them told Absalom above them when white quickly and came to man's house in the room who had a well in this court and I went down into it in the warm woman took a sweater covering over the well's mouth and spread ground grain on and the thing was not known and when Absalom servants came to the woman at the house.

He said where I am having Jonathan to the woman said to them, they have gone over the water broken when they search and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.

Verse 21 that came to pass after the departed, that they came up out of the well and when told King David said to David, arise and crossover the water quickly for the last has a hit with Phil.

Advised against you today and all the people who were with him arose and crossed over the Jordan by morning light. Not one of them was left with not only were the Jordan verse 23. No one has itself saw that his advice was not followed. He settled the donkey and arose and went home to his house to the city. Then he put his household in order and hanged himself and God, and he was buried in his father's tomb. This is this is a weird verse I read this verse for years and really didn't. I thought what what it is, wise person, and this is his response. I don't understand and know it's going it's of no I believe that suicide is wrong. I believe that your inviting yourself to level the got is not invited you when you take your own life that that's deciding your time in going to going to die and I think that's wrong. I think that said, I think it's it's one of the most more selfish things you can do because you hurt yourself. You hurt people around around.

That being said, there is no biblical or scriptural evidence that someone that takes their life is destined to an eternity without God.

No scriptural evidence. How do you go to heaven.

You believe in Jesus you ask him to forgive your sins. Again, suicide is wrong. But if any of us die while were committing center in the midst of committing a sin you tell me that that destines all of us not to go to heaven. I'm sorry I can't leave that a merciful God that I have a relationship with with and look of your scenario. I don't agree with that, shoot me an email.

Include a chapter and verse in that email.

I got include a verse in the email.

I'm sorry don't know I'm just looking at the word of God so limitless that will what's up with if I read this usually is wise person and also he takes this, and he does this in an and I don't understand through this. What looks like a huge temperature wise men does a very foolish thing that we talked about development couple weeks ago and talk about in the night Hansen felt was a very close friend of David's very close friend Frank Pierce. Here's what David we believe that this David was writing about the film. These passages some 41 ounces is even my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread has lifted up his heel against me some 55. This word is not an enemy who reproaches me.

Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me is exalted himself against me. Then I could have had from them but it was you Mama E. My companion and my acquaintance, we took sweet counsel together and walked to the house of God in the throng. David Philbin times something happened later in Psalm 55 it says is he who is put forth his hand against those who are peace with his brokenness, in the words of his mouth are smoother than better.

But war was in his heart. His words were softer than all if they were drawn swords what happened. They were best friends. He scaled the temple together. He David says this guy is my equal and equally. King David must've been an incredible person extremely one, so how did Phil go to be a friend of the king wantonly killing all this bitterness and unforgiveness defining himself trapped in this box like we saw the video will again the genealogies there's always something in every genealogy in the Bob I probably going to the genealogies of probably about 75% of them I found something in there. It's like that's what's in 25%. I'm not sure about.

I'm sure there's something in there and all discovered someday you can solicitors begin to get get get get not there yet but I'm sure we get to have a go the other couple of these second Samuel chapter 23 says Alyssa let the son of a house by the son of Malik type E.

Leo, the son of Hitler fell the gala night so early in the story we see the fell was in God low, making him again gala night and he had a son named alien okay then you with the genealogy that comes earlier in seconds and chapter 11 verse three said.

Davidson inquired about the woman and someone said is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Emilio, the wife of Uriah the Hittite Bathsheba was a hit that those granddaughter and that's what's given to us in these little what would seem inconsequential genealogies in these places, but they come to mean something right to be angry. He was angry. He had a right to be angry but David came to a point where you said you when they think in terms of your demand. Here you messed up David and David remember what Davidson, Davidson well was because I've got separation anxiety and I wasn't nurse enough of the child and and and and you know there was just I got self-esteem issues and there's some problems I got in all sorts of that really needs somebody said. Nathan said you're the man. Davidson knew his last and I'm sure in his heart, he wanted to scramble. I'm sure in his heart he once went on King I did anything wrong to share in his heart, he wanted to give excuses, but he didn't do it so you know you're right. I am that man and David repented and you can see what it not only what he said that they what he wrote some of the sobs he repented he was sorry that it happened but I have the fell had a choice. He could look at his friend is king and say well I knew it was a center I knew we had problems. I knew it wasn't perfect. I'm going forgiving to him and continue to walk the road with that's not what happened. We need to be careful because a lot of times we think our leaders are perfect you that you don't have any perfectly you don't have a perfect resident.

You don't have a perfect governor you you don't have a perfect pastor and if in your mind you think long and follows cows long as I think he's perfect. There's your out. There's your you will have to look very hard to find with your president with the governor with the pastor with your boss is a cell phone is out said you know what got us a gracious God has been so merciful to me, and I've sinned against the Lord. Davidson against authority sinned against my family, but you always repent forgiving, but it hasn't felt my decision wasn't going to, and instead of letting go that bitterness and unforgiveness. He held it inside any nurse that for years. The life lesson here. Do not let bitterness take root in you and weed out any bitterness that is taken root in your heart from here on out. Be careful about.

Let bitterness get a root in you. But here's the thing. You also need to look at your life is just about everybody in your has some root of Bitterman this in your life. There's something that happened to you or somebody that did something against you, that you're still carrying around.

And that's no way to live.

Certainly no way that the here's what the Bible says in Ephesians chapter 4 verse 31 says let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you and all malice and be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. This bitterness will eat you up. It will eat you up and wisely said that holding on. The bitterness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

When you hold in bitterness and unforgiveness are not hurting the other person you're dragging yourself down.

And as that happens over time you will find yourself too weak to even walk the Christian walk because you're holding all this bitterness and stuff actually 23 says, for I see that you are full of bitterness and held captive by sin. Bitterness weakens you spiritually is what the Bible says Hebrews 1215 says look after each other so that none of you will miss out on the special favor of God. Watch out that no bitter root of unbelief rises up among you, for when Edwards brings up many are corrupted by its boys ever been around a really bitter person was enjoyable. No. But you realize when you're bitter that's the picture. People get and how amazing it is that it seems like so many Christians are so bitter about so many different things. When we been forgiven so many things we are supposed to be filled with truth versus impact society and culture but how we communicate that the people is important because I think a lot of times we come off as very very bitter in that so hence the fell. This around for years and sure enough he gets his opportunity when this rebellion starts, and Absalom sends for them. He comes to me think all this is that the here's all the vengeance all man this is that I have my revenge in your life, your nurse bitterness and thought about getting revenge and actually had revenge. If you if you've ever done that is one of the most this satisfying things you'll ever have in your life. Maybe there's a coworker needed you all can't wait till that guy gets fire the aggregate, and then they get fired, and the like. So what you thought it would be.

That's why God's as you know, this whole revenge. Think you can carry.

You're not meant to carry.

You can't carry all take care and have the fell trust in God. His life would around a very different, but he nurse. This bitterness was a hit, felt justified in being angry. David absolutely he took his granddaughter had his grandson kill greediest things but still we should let it go and he didn't and it cost him his life. Within this verse is another life lesson carrying around unforgiveness and bitterness hurt you in every one around you carry around unforgiveness and bitterness hurt you and everyone around 300 years, looking at anything on them or kill myself. I never knew what hit the fell did, but I do have this bitterness and I do have this unforgiveness but I never go myself like a you're doing it one day at a time, one step at a time as you carry that around and it's interesting thing. Once that root comes up and springs up meant not only have to tear it out but you know it tries to crop up again when you have to do is for season is now well I'm not bitter that person I'm over it I will walk in the grace of God and hence the fell his closing moment usually realized he realized he was serving their own king thinking. I think when this all started going that he thought you know what this is. I thought absolutely will be king is not observing the wrong God and still at that dark power he had the choice of saying you know what I'm doing.

Go to David. He's been my friend, I'm going to go to Dave and apologize and tell the police forget that was still an option. So he did what his pride is arrogant. You want to go apologize. He didn't want to get repent that pride led to is ultimately reserving the right king hope so serving God, hope so reserving yourself or serving materialism or serve God is so worthy to be served in the following an interview. Try to carry this bitterness and it just got poison you friend is going to poison verse 24 then David went to Manahan man name and Absalom crossed over the Jordan.

He and all the men of Israel with Absalom made a mouse on the captain of the Army instead of Joab.

This Thomas. It was a son of a man whose name was G3 on Israelite would John and Abigail, the daughter may have sisters there. I Joab's mother, short summary of that versus there's a bunch of families of going on some of should be going.

Absalom makes a monster the captain of the Army instead of Joab. Joab has had years of experience in battle and we see again. Absalom just doing stupid things.

What is he wasn't really a leader and also newscast another's place is making really bad decisions because Joab was a season veteran military leader because of politics. He doesn't choose Joe verse 26, oh Israel, Absalom and Capt. Linda Gilliam happened with David to come that man name that shall be the son of a hash from ramp up from Rob of the people of Ambon. Major biker son of Emily from low the bar and bar is easily the Gilead I will glean the report's all these leaders versus verse 20 brought beds and basins, earthen vessels and weight, barley and flour parched grain and beans, lentils and parsley. Verse 29 honey encourage sheep and cheese of the herd for Dave and the people with them, who were with him to eat, for they said the people are hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness. God is looking after David is looking after David.

In the midst of desert when he doesn't have anything he's tired, he's hungry and yet God sends other people to minister to David Gunderson got a look after you. What the Bible says is if you make God your priority if you make the kingdom of God. Your priority. He'll take care of the rest of your life.

Now we look at that we go will ask that this not that's not true that's country babe, I don't do this if I don't do that, then they won't get taken care of David.

This warrior and God always got to take care of most of us live like we never test God in this we never put God first and watches provision we just walk through. We think all I am. I provision my sources me.

If you're sources you you're in trouble is your source it. When we turn this around so it sounds better in my sources. Me, I'm in trouble. You know what my sources not that reliable can now turn it back if you're sources you you're in trouble because your source is not that reliable I don't want myself as a source all God is muscle got as you know, I'll be your source which you governing the first. You can't have 1/4, fifth, 812 and expect me to be your source and if your life is a jumbled up mass you got God, way down on your list of priorities. May I suggest that the reason your life is a mess is because your priorities are Ottawa, maybe walking through life going on.

I thought you meet my needs is a signature needed and a major greed is a major needs. If you making first in your life.

So God uses these people to meet David's needs and it runs in Psalm 23. David wrote this on Psalm 23 verse five. As you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies you anoint my head with oil in my cup runs over.

David is getting ready for the battle and his men. David's warrior's always been a warrior always be a warrior. Let's remember that we are called in the word to be warriors unless we can just the guys speaking the ladies as well share this before, but that word virtuous woman in Proverbs virtuous we we kind of water that down now.

When we take virtue to mean moral purity, but you need understand when it was written in the King James English.

That's not what it meant.

That word has changed over the last couple hundred years. The meaning of some moral purity.

It was a moral purity.

Then remember when Jesus healed somebody he said, I perceive that virtue has flowed out of now that that word is moral purity that makes no sense. Jesus said, I perceive the moral purity has flowed out when he was saying and is power and strength flowed out of me when you go back to the Proverbs 31 woman which we all like to beat our women up with the word there virtuous is healed and I talked to some Hebrew scholars and stuff and confirm this is really one of you asked for the definition of appeal and she said the warrior. Proverbs 31 starting about the warrior woman. Now every really encourage their women to be warrior women think to a certain degree.

We have me.

Don't you want your ally to be the strongest that they can be. Some guys are really getting convicted here. Well, as the Lord leads, but that is what the Bible God sends these guys to minister to David lifeless near the Lord wants to work through us to meet the needs about God never meant for us just to be the recipient of blessings he wants us to be the conduit of blessings that as he blesses us. We bless others, he never meant for you to That pipe at the end so you could keep all the blessings get things or talents or or or resources of finances are or whatever your source to be a resource a a conduit of blessings. The bless others. You will read later on that at this time is when David wrote some will actually while some 200.

Figure Psalm 61 Psalm 62, when we look at this chapter we look at the life of a hit. The film we see the tragedy of the rebellion and stuff. Absalom who could have repented to his dad back down the rebellion we see a fellow who walked in this bitterness and unforgiveness. So the following took his life and looking at his life.

You know he he, died a long time ago when he gave up on David, he gave up on grace he gave up unforgiveness really gave up on God.

Why because of bitterness towards the failings of one person have so many opportunities so many opportunities in mind to get offended and carry around bitterness and unforgiveness. Life is too short time is too precious. Don't do friend. You know for sure that your sins have been forgiven. You can know right now only Jenna short, simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him.

Please pray this prayer with me out well right now. Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I could have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry. Please forgive me of all those things. Please give me the power to live for you. All of my days in Jesus name, amen friend of you prayed that prayer according to the Bible. You've been forgiven you've been born again, so congratulations for you just made the greatest decision that you will ever make. God bless you, if you pray that prayer with David for the first time we'd love to hear from you.
