How much pain we suffer that we never suffer. What I mean by you look at incident all that and it never happens. Your worry in your anxiety never comes the past but meanwhile you've experienced almost like it was what you set around will.

You responded the room, and everybody in here usually goes a group soon so here is my God. Some people, something will have left churches left job spouses over unfounded rumors how much we could avoid welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee, the senior pastor of the bridge in Kernersville, Ridge McGee has assisted pastors in one of those is meal program today and vibrate to be here with you today. As we close out second chapter 13, and today we'll talk about rumors did you hear about that just heard something about Randy or program data.

Be careful, take action based on tested havens going to be sharing a little bit about that, rumors Samuel chapter 13 second Samuel chapter 13 while you turn there. Let's quickly review what happened in 11 and 12.

David with Bathsheba and then Nathan comes and tells him the story about the shepherd and the sheep. It's easy for David to see the sand and the other people which is trait that we have as well. At this point David has confessed God has forgiven him. But God also said you know I David because this happened.

The sword is never going to depart from your from your house, and Serena C. This fulfillment in this chapter. Second Samuel chapter 13 verse one says after this Absalom, the son of David, had a lovely set, whose name was tomorrow and Amnon the son of David, loved her, and I was so distressed over sister tomorrow that he became sick.

She was a virgin and was improper for Amnon to do anything to her, but Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonah down the son of Simeon, David's brother Joan and dad was a very crafty man and he said why are you the king's son becoming thinner, day after day we not tell me Amnon said to him I love.

Tomorrow my brother Absalom sister. So Jonah dad said to him, why down on your bed and pretend to be ill and when your father comes to see you say to him please let my sister tomorrow come and give me food. The food must like that I may see it needed from her hand and Amnon lay down and pretend to be ill and when the king came to see him.

Amnon said to the king. Please let tomorrow my sister, make a couple cakes for me in my sight that I may eat from her aunt and David sent home to tomorrow saying not go to your brother Amnon's house and prepare food from CCL. David gets involved in the same David Hayes being deceived, and you have to wonder.

Did he actually pray about this or didn't have to think some somebody or some bell went off in his head that he didn't listen to verse eight.

So tomorrow went to her brother Amnon's house and he was lying down in. She took flour needed. It made cakes in the site and bake the cake since she took the pan and place them out the form, but he refused to eat and Amnon said have everyone go out from me and they all went out from in this first warning sign of meanness is getting set up first and then Amnon said tomorrow bring the food and the veteran that I may eat from your hand tomorrow took the cake she had made in Brockton and not her brother and the better when she had brought them to him to eat.

He took hold of her and said that her come live with me. My sister David's words should never go to go come investors wrong on a lot of different levels. First, 12 but she answered him though my brother did not force me for no such thing should be done in Israel do not do this disgrace think she's trying to reason women verse 13 and where could I take my shaman is for you. You would be like one of the fools in Israel.

Now, therefore please speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you should go to David telling that you know you love me and you want to marry me and and and and maybe he'll do it, sad, sad commentary that she thinks David will do something that's in violation of Scripture Matthew question. Why would you think that is a bashing Bathsheba and working to see the David's got a deal with that. I wonder how differently.

David's response to his kids would've been every one of them suffered under the shame and the guilt of the issue of the thing with Bathsheba. Verse 14. However, he would not heed her voice and being stronger than she. He forced her in late with her. Then Amnon hated her exceedingly so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the level to which it loved her and Amnon said the horizon be gone cold and callous) and said I'm done get out Haiti love can turn to lust, but it's a very rare thing that last turns the love it's a very rare thing.

What we see here is less turning to hate how to tell lust and love. The difference well. One of the ways is what we were told. Love is patient, love is kind.

One does not seek its own, is what first printed 13 tells us see love seeks to bless others.

Last seeks to bless itself in a relationship with somebody just always seeking to bless themselves than that appeared to be a lustful relationship, but of their seeking to bless others when there may be love a man well I guess I should flip that around to have your man and woman's pushing you to do something physically, sexually near nonmarried there's a problem we care. Love that same true love waits for 16 so she said to him, no indeed, this evil is sending me away is then the other that you did to me but he would not listen or send you know what that you write me was bad. The fact you're trying to now send me away is worth while. Because there was understanding of this happened, that the man would do the honorable thing and then marry the woman and now he's not only dishonoring her through rate. Please dishonoring her even more, saying get out get out in her responses interested.

Verse 17 then he called his servant who attended him, and said here's this woman out a way for me, and bolt the door behind her. Verse 18 now she had on a robe of many colors, for the king's virgin daughters were wore such apparel. And his servant put her out and bolted the door behind her. Then tomorrow.

Put ashes on her head and took a robe of many colors that was on her and later hand on her head and went away crying bitterly.

She tore the sleeves off and and in her actions.

What she was doing was she was actually going to the motions of morning a husband who had been killed or died.

This man had taken something from her that he never should've taken me share something with if you're a young person here in your version be so careful and years of being in ministry. I've never spoken to one person who regretted waiting not want but I spoken to a lot of people.

All of who regretted not waiting for the story about this girl she was school and issue. Everybody knew that she was waiting until marriage and and they would make fun of you nurse know why all these church and she prayed, she said, Lord, I don't know what to tell these people and after much prayer she felt like the Lord said spoke to is so they started to come on her. One day she stood up and she said you know who I am is God's gift to me. My purity as God is my gift back to God and she said to them, she said you know what, and keep in mind that any weekend. I want to I can go be like one of y'all, and not be purity more and not be a virgin but you guys can never ever ever again be like I am now remember that young people once it's gone, it's gone now.

I believe scripturally I believe theologically that if you blow it you come to Jesus and you say Jesus, please forgive me of my sentence and Jesus will do that but will rescind in this chapter is a lot of times the consequences of the forgiven sin are still there and you may pay form for a long time and they're not always in correlation to how deep and dark. The Senate mean there's people out there that catch AIDS for some there with some understanding doesn't necessarily seem fair to me but I'm not the judge consequences are often more than we thought they would be and when lust is involved, people get hurt when loves involved people get blessed when lust is involved.

People get verse 20 and Absalom the brother said to her as Amnon your brother been with you. Hold your peace.

My sister, here's your brother. Do not take this thing the heart to tomorrow remain desolate and her brother Absalom's house explained when David sent for her.

She was in one house. She couldn't be in the house anymore because that was a place for the virgin daughters of the King she could go back to that and Absalom said you can come with with me and I'll protect you and I'll take care of a loving brother. However, there could be some mixed motives here with Absalom. The real get into adjustment.

Verse 21 when King David heard of these things.

He was very angry. That's good. He was angry, but apparently didn't do anything. He didn't address this issue and one when they would do this will understanding was David's first born he was hesitant in that regard. You know the law and call for the execution of Amnon, but it did call for a penalty, but David doesn't do that. Why did he do that. He probably felt like if he did on that Amnon would've turned around and said all yeah what about you that you would tell me the whole, but she restoring so David didn't say anything yet think this is is probably one of the most effective tools that the enemy uses against the pair. There is no perfect father. There is no perfect mother there's no perfect father other than God. So if you're going to let your sin keep you silent in regard to raising your children, guess what, you never know say anything about not. I'm not saying that gives you license to go do whatever you want to do now you you you the most powerful lessons are not the ones you say they're the ones you do when I'm not giving you complete other license or go do whatever but understand at some point. At some level there is going to be that while pulses. This decision went the things I want to do. I don't doing the things I shouldn't do. I know I shouldn't do I end up doing is all and we all have in us is called a dichotomy, we all have and is the part that was of the good, the parts it wants to do bad and sometimes a partner wants to do good or doing well. Sometimes part was we better do a poor but were still parents. We still gotta speak to these issues. And yes, your child is going to throw that in your face as often as you allow anyone if you've done wrong.

Look at your child so you don't forget you're right stupid action of none but that doesn't mean that what you did know was okay to be careful this David was an incredible leader incredible King you know or seen. He was a week father. I mean there's just no other way to put that there is no other way to he it was not a very strong father figure and he made some serious mistake were looking at one of these mistakes he got angry at his anger was justified. That was good but he didn't do anything now nothing.

He should have acted in anger said this before, you're going to correct your child and your angry wait until you calm down all possible. Sometimes it may not be possible but if you can you calm down because you don't want to correct an anger to give your child the wrongness some of the correction was needed here date David show set down with Amnon said Amnon you you you blew it buddy, what, what were you thinking, and David really think about it, rather than being unable to minister to Amnon. In this way, David was just the perfect God to minister to them to say hey man, you know what been where you are is happened to me and you and I regret what happened and in here's what happened.

I came back to Lord Nathan told the story I got busted. I repented and this is what you need to do and not you need to back until tomorrow, your sorry and Absalom your sorry and and then you go from here. He didn't do that throughout the Bible we swing in week father.

We see in some of the spiritual heroes of Moses and less so Eli, but Samuel, Moses, Samuel, David, three very strong men had some serious issues as fathers and you know, a lot of times it is interesting his children come back say well I will write it up this way because he like this are in. That was like that her mom was like that will everybody makes their own choices.

Now here's Pastor David as he continues showing verse by verse, verse 22 Absalom spoke to his brother Amnon neither good nor bad for Absalom hated Amnon because he enforced his sister Tamar Amnon was the firstborn. There's another that was second worn but were not told about him outside of his birth, so most people believe that he died as a youngster, which left Absalom the third born which meant if Amnon was out of the way Absalom would appear to be the next in line for the throne. I can't say how much this was involved in the decisions of Absalom made.

I don't but I think it did play a part. Verse 23 and it came to pass after two full years of Absalom had sheep shares and by all house there, which is Mary from so Absalom invited all the king's son then Absalom came looking and said kindly know your servant has sheep shares. Please let the king and his servants go with your servant now sheep Sharon big party area once a year you collect that are harvested, there will and big fees and sometimes drinking was involved in the encounter. Big deal. Absalom say, hey I want to invite you King and in all your servants verse 25 but the king said Absalom know my son. Let us not all go now, lest we be a burden to you Ménière's them, but he would not go any blessed today to say no if I bring all the servants of everybody. My household here your sheep, Sharon party, and this can be too much food. As can be too much of a financial burden to come and do that. Verse 26 and Absalom said if not, please let my brother Amnon go with us and the king said them.

Why should he go with you. David felt the chat you about this. Why should he go but was watch what happens. Verse 27 but Absalom urged him so he let Amnon and all the king's sons with an David gave in and for the rest of his life regretted.

Why did he give it.

Absalom urged him when there's a lot of parenting stuff.

This is when these areas I'm teaching as we should be there early. How I am okay. My kids are going to David should not have let Absalom urged. He said not wash. I need and he allowed Absalom to talk him in the some parents are you are you with me because sometimes you say no and and understand if you say no that should be really then the discussion that that's what we convey in our once in the nose and the it's not. It's a no election get your mom to a small arm it's enough and if there still discussion after no is no longer question.

It's really it's active rebellion do not explain in their case the time verse minor cases before you make your decision with the decisions made it stick should be done. We've all been your parent. You've done I'm done. Maybe I've done is I've said no. They said that it's all okay and then I came back about man why was I think now gratefully unlike her scriptural passage, like it did in the death like it does for David Amnon Absalom urged him to heal and Amnon and all the king's sons go with verse 20. Now, Absalom, and commanded his servants and watch now in Amnon's heart is Mary with the wind and when I say you strike Amnon then killing do not be afraid of when I commanded you, be courageous and valiant. Verse 29 to the servants of Absalom did. Amnon is Absalom that commanded that all the king's son arose sons arisen each one got on his mule and fled. These men were loyal to Absalom here. Here's really the beginning of the rebellion will find out later, Absalom is in rebellion to David, but let's be honest, he's already in rebellion today just see an opportunity now to exploit this and these men should've stayed loyal to David but they didn't want they didn't like David's decision concerning him, and when Absalom said they were going to kill Amnon there when you go great justice wasn't just because Amnon had killed tomorrow. Right now that's wrong. But the sentence was not execution should've been.

But that's what Absalom did David in not correcting Amnon ended up costing him his life because he lacks Amari Santa Marta, Amnon samara lost her virginity because he sent Amnon to Absalom.

Amnon lost his life as a parent we see what's at stake because you mean really you never know you never know. Here's what the Bible said was supposed to happen. Deuteronomy 2228 says if a man finds a young woman who is a virgin who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and lives with her and they are find out than the man who lay with her shall give to the young woman's father 50 shekels of silver, and show she shall be his wife because he is all motor shall not be promoted permitted to divorce her all his days.

This whole thing is is David sewing what you what he reeked.

Here's a life lesson.

The lasting fruit of the forgiven sins can be very painful and David knew think it every passing moment in the next few chapters of their discomfort. The tough chapters. They are tough chapters is the day we go through these verse 30 and it came to pass weather on the way that news came to Davidson. Absalom was killed all the king's son and not one of them is left so the king arose and tors garments that lay on the ground and also arrested by with the closed-door, so get fidgety.

Absalom had Amnon kill then somebody comes at Dave and said hey you know I always have been killed in an David Greaves cares his clothing is leaders tear the closing truth. No wonder they don't responded to a rumor glove never done that every one of us is none. Everyone of us has.

If you could hear this.

This will avoid so much pain and heartache in your life how much pain we suffer that we never suffer. What I mean by you look at incident all that and it never happens. Your worry and your anxiety never comes the past but meanwhile you've experienced almost like it was what you set around will happen or you responded to rumor everybody in here you is like so-and-so, oh my gosh, people, something will have left churches left job left spouses over unfounded rumors. Wow, how much we could avoid his wife was be careful taking action based on rumors for reactance of make sure that it's a fact. Verse 32 then Jonah dabbed the son of Shamil pops up again, David's brother Anson said let not my Lord suppose if killed all the young men in the king's sons really Amnon is dead by the command of Absalom. This is been determined from the day that he forced his sister tomorrow what I want to have a know nothing of doing ways that he could know and none of them were good was involved in plotting and execution of Emma probably why would he do that will think of at some point. He's probably thinking Amnon can pop him go well. Jonah dabbed told me to do this. This was the Council that he gave and so with that I think he probably contributed to this plot.

Verse 33 now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart to think that all the king's sons are dead from Amnon is dead. Verse 34 then Absalom fled in the young man who was keeping watch lifted his eyes and looked in there. Many people were coming from the road on the hillside behind the June adapted to the king looked the king sons are common as your servant said. So it is.

So David was mourning the death of his sons, who would not been killed because he will listen to rumor verse 36.

It was a soon as he finished speaking with the king sons indeed came and they lifted up their voice and wet. Also, the king and all his servants went very bitterly, but Absalom flat out went to Tomah, the son of a minute. The king of guess your David mourned for her son every day so Absalom fled and went to go sure was there three years and King David long to go to Absalom, for he had been comforted concerning Amnon because he was dead for interesting verse comforted because he was dead.

David knew something needed to be done, but he wasn't willing to do and Absalom took action in this in part because division among the people that can be a steep price again. Absalom could avoided a lot of trouble really came at this point so you want King David. Dad father I met had Amnon killed. I was mad about tomorrow and I should've done it but I did but he didn't do that and what happens is he was led to a lot more trouble than that's what happens unconfessed and unrepentant sin leads to a lot more trouble.

We have a saying you know and I don't hate it.

Y'all heard it, don't get mad get even that's great advice and do you really get even. Has anybody in here ever sought revenge and and and when you had that revenge you you really felt good and something happens in our heart and our minds when we play out the scenarios of these various things Francis Bacon said in taking revenge and management. Even with his enemy butting passing it over. He is superior to some of you been wounded been wounded.

I don't want revenge.

I don't care it around because I know in carrying around something happen to me in my heart and in my mind I'm the nurse until it's like a poison and motivate.

You don't want revenge.

Our faith is a faith of forgiveness and grace and mercy are things that have been done to God and things, and when done somewhere still carrying stuff around that you need to let go because as long as you're sitting in your sample. The reason I am who I am today is because this happened in my past to understand you're in bondage because what you're saying is I can't be the person God created me to be because this had I not going in the details.

A lot of things happen to me a lot of very bad things happen and I was still in bondage to that I would not be the man I got. I would be still be held captive to the grace of God. I've been set free to be the person friend you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven.

You can know right now only Legion a short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now.

Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I could have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry.

Please forgive me of all those things. Please give me the power to live for you. All of my days in Jesus name, amen friend of you prayed that prayer according to the Bible.

You've been forgiven you've been born again, so congratulations for you just made the greatest decision that you will ever make.
