I'm not saying we approve their stumble not talking about that I'm saying you know it is not good in them that the list get on with life. What happens a lot of times when somebody stumbles also the abandonment. I know you actually need the grace of God. There's a tendency for disappointment.

Three more Jesus called us to some more welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee. The senior pastor of the bridge in Kernersville, North Carolina. Today we have deal with this in studio meal is one of David McGee's assisting pastors to help him in his work here at the church and in ministry.

This is really been some great teaching here. Second Samuel chapter 12 and now work in any talk about supporting one another, even when one of those happens to stumble.

That's what the body of Christ is about. This is what happened here in the section of Scripture, we need to be people who support each other, even when they're stumbling we supposed to abandon them and kick them when they get down supposed to be doing that.

Thankful for God's word thankful for the truth and past data show that that's awesome solicitous of the David McGee as he finishes up teaching in second Samuel chapter 12 for dealing with one of the more famous incidences in Scripture. My reaction for the infamous incidences in Scripture Avenue with David and Bathsheba. So we talked last week we looked at the chapter where David falls with Bathsheba and we learn some stuff from an this chapter. Chapter 12 is an interesting study in a lot of things that are impractical for us number one confronting how to confront somebody love with something that's going on in their life. Biblical restoration how do you restore somebody if they fallen and these are things again that we don't necessarily like to talk about but we should talk about it because sometimes what happens is we don't talk about Intel were in the situation and they were scrambling trot figure out the skills to confront somebody in and to restore somebody and please understand according to the Bible.

We've been given the ministry of reconciliation. So this is something that we all need to be skilled in and seeing somebody restore.

I think we can all think of somebody in our life needs restoration in order to start this chapter really listless go back to verse 27 of chapter 11 as and when her morning talking about Bathsheba was over, David sent, and brought her to his house and she became his wife and bore him a son.

But the thing that David then displeased the Lord.

So that's the setup for this chapter. Because here's the deal. Got a year Ryan had been killed.

Bathsheba morning for season then married David gave him a son and everything looks like it's all right like nothing is wrong in the David, if you will got away with snow happens.

Chapter 12 verse one is in the Lord sent Nathan the David and he came to him and said to him, there were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor. The rich man had exceedingly many flocks and herds, but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb, which he involved in marriage then it grew up together with him and with his children and eight of his own food and drink from his own cup, and lay in his bosom was like a daughter, Dan and a traveler came to the rich man who refused to take from his own flock and from his own her to prepare one for the wayfaring man who would come to him, but he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it for the man who would come to him. So David's anger was greatly aroused against the man and he said the name of the Lord lives.

The mandalas done this out shortly, and he shall restore for full for the lamb because he did this thing because he had no pity.

Then Nathan said to David you are the man, thus says the Lord God of Israel. I anointed you king over Israel and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your keeping gave her the house of Israel and Judah, and that had been too little.

Also would have given you much more why have you despise the commandment of the Lord to do evil in his sight you have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword.

You've taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon. Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house because you despise me, and of taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife thus says the Lord. Behold, I will raise up adversely against you from your own house and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of the sun. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel before the sun. So David said the Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. Nathan said the David, the Lord also has put away your center shall not look at David's reply, I have sinned against the Lord.. Insight Nathan, you know what this woman was bathed in unity go talk to her insane. You can singer you probably none none none of that snow absent it and make excuses. He didn't give reasons you sent. It's an interesting thing when my cell for staff are assisting pastors ministry leaders or whatever and go to somebody in the fellowship and say hey you know what this is an issue you spoke that person out of anger or harsher, you know you said you did this and then do that or you did this and he said he did whatever, there's an interesting passage in Proverbs chapter 9 verse eight says this. Do not correct the scoffer, lest he hate you rebuke a wise man and he will love you give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser teach a just man, and he will increase in learning new living translation says it so don't bother, rebuke, and mockers. They were only eight, but the wise and reviewed.

Love you all the more teach the wives and they will be wiser teach the righteous, and they will learn more do you want to be a wise person than when you're corrected receive got bored and I got other pastors in my life that I go to on a regular basis and say he seemingly not doing or something I'm doing wrong doing right, whatever you see anything. Sometimes you know I don't even have to ask you about this. I appreciate what because another caring for me, as a matter fact in that moment there caring more for me one thing when you're not saying anything because we all understand it's easier not say anything and different when somebody comes to you there caring for you. The care enough to attain the truth in love, say some really blunt things from this platform, but again I don't salmon I mean spirited way and again in November. I do remember I have pleased the Lord is revealing want to be like that we can love and when that happens to me while learn something in ministry and they really get in line quickly. I just quickly because if someone is bringing something to you there's an issue there.

You might not even see whether there bringing it to your chances.

Her real good. You've done something wrong and you can just say you know I'm sorry, I should've done should've said you notice the simplicity of David's sinned against the Lord not you know what we have all and we talked about this, we can apologize not really apologize. We all have this down to. I'm sorry you took it that way. You are down an apology. I'm sorry you took it that way. I'm sorry I said it. I'm sorry you took it that way or I'm sorry you misunderstood my son apology sinned against the Lord. Verse 14. However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord, to blaspheme the child also was born to. You shall surely die. So there is a consequence to the sentence he got off and forgive the sin but keeps the consequence in place so that we will learn not to run down that road to the reality is, once you come to Jesus what you're born again, you can't really enjoy your sin anymore. You can engage in your sin but you will never enjoy it like you is forever change God if he will. God will not let you send successfully, he will enter rain because he love you so much. If she gets dirty or falls into the mud. She doesn't gets up and runs all your pig does wall is where she went. We will follow another dedication but we should get up and run role in wonder. David never ever thought that the cost of his sin would cost him his baby daddy did while, but because the cost of sin is almost higher than we think it is when run through her mind of what could happen in our sin situations. It's almost always more than things happen that we just couldn't ever imagine or plan on this child is going to dollars been proclaimed.

That is going to Dallas read over 50 Nathan departed to his house and the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife boarded David and became ill. David therefore pleaded with God for the child and David fasted and went and lay all mine on the ground so the elders of his house arose and went to him the raise amount from the ground, but he would not nor did he eat food with them as readiness assessment really beautiful is the elders of his house, came in to get him the elders of his house is not abandoned. David and say Dave I can't believe you did router you center we didn't know your center at St. everybody's normal to get to know a woman and you know in case you're wondering if I'm a sinner going clear that I'm a sinner saved by the grace of God, waiting for me to do something wrong or say something wrong, let's just go ahead and clear it up that at some point that I say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing and I will repent and ask God in you to forgive me of the because of your center thing and I'm a perfect pastor were both in trouble but these elders supported David Mason, you know, this is Damon's time of weakness and need and they were therefore they didn't teach him they did and sitting down they did in revolt against they help them through the difficult time and it's really hard because I had some friends a ministry that a fallen and some of these brothers.

It's like all their leadership gather around them so they can kick in wonder now it's almost likely like a pack of wolves or some answers. So I'm godly when when a leader stumbles or even a little where they weight and also in all the leaders got around like those around it makes me wonder because you know it makes me think she were the guys were the men that were helping. I got ministry did they just really hurt are they disappointed or was it something that was always in their heart. They were just wait a minute.

Ministry some denominations of the guy slips and falls. That's it. He's done for life. I don't get the guy does this, or does that he's done he can never be about, he can never be a pastor can never be about. I don't understand and in this Bob or David never loses his kingship throughout the repeater remains an apostle. After denies Jesus public and yet we look at something you're done so already use.

You wonder how the world would be impacted.

Of these men who had been discounted since her falling were restored in ministry. I wonder because here's the thing. I talked about me being the perfect you're not the perfect congregant already know that already know that you're not perfect and so when you mess up gnosis and when not if, when you mess up you know I'm not believe myself or somebody may sit down when you say it's going okay and we want to go through this. That's biblical Christianity taken somebody when they're down. Get up again when Jesus said the lifeless near we should support one another when one of us stumbles.

We should support one another when one of us stumbles.

I'm not saying we approve their stumble. You know it's good he did that by not talking about that I'm saying you know it is not good that but let's get on with life.

This is understanding that we should have with one what happens a lot of times when somebody stumbles all sudden we abandoned. I know your center. I know you actually need the grace of God thought was just this theological exercise. We talked about the grace of casino, a lot of times when these things happen you find out who your friends really are and you find out how much of a friend you are to know there's a tendency through hurt and disappointment three walkway Jesus called us to some more than listening to Pastor David McGee on cross the bridge will be back with more in just a moment but first, if you haven't been to our website@crossthebridge.com yet you waiting for go to cross the bridge.com to learn more about how listeners like you are helping get the life-changing truth of God's word to more people to the radio, Internet and mobile technologies across the bridge.com you can also check out our broadcast schedule. Now here's Pastor David as he continue showing verse by verse, verse 18. Then on the seventh day it came to pass that the child not in service of David were afraid to tell him that the child was that for, they said. Indeed, while the child was alive. We spoke to him and he would not heed her voice. How can we tell them that the child is that he may do some harm when David saw the servants whispering they would perceive that the child was dead. Therefore David said to his servants as a child. Then they said he is dead and was interesting is when I was reading this and and and and David mentioned a Exodus 22 one.

The fourfold restoration before fourfold restitution. David took Uriah's wife.

David ended up losing the baby and ran Absalom Adonijah. He took one life he paid for next few chapters are tough chapters. This is a tough chapters understand the look at this and say wow God was really really angry at Dave and that's why did this now. This is the chastening of the Lord chastening is done in love and got had been so angry and concerned in his anger to kill David right away.

But in his love, he allowed they would to experience some of the consequences of his sin. Chastening is a loving action by God that allows difficulty that could be used to develop godly character in someone's life chastening is a loving action by God that allows difficulty to be used to develop godly character in somebody like that's chastening is done a lot is not done in anger and it produces godly character, so verse 20 sedated rose from the ground, washed and anointed himself transient closing went to the house of Lord worship. Then he went to his own house and when he requested they set before midnight and the servant said to him, what is this that you have done you fast and wet for the child why he was alive but when the child died euros night food and he said while the child was alive, I fasted and wept for us and who can tell whether the Lord will be gracious to me that the child may live, but now he is dead. Why should I fast.

Here's a great one for lost levels cannot bring them back again. I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. It's hard dealing with death. It's much easier when you realize it's a see you later.

Not a goodbye that the most difficult funerals do when I don't know the person of Jesus. That's painful.

And what I've noticed is sometimes when a believer dies family members that don't know Jesus are more painful of that than the people who know they're going to see him again this person I believe lend support to the concept that if a baby dies, that that baby goes to heaven because God in his mercy extends heaven towards them and that they not yet gotten to an age where they can ask Jesus to forgive the mother sent it was just the baby is dead and I'm going to go be dead to what comfort is that of David. I believe he send up. You know I'm going to go to him in heaven. Incidentally, I think that might be why David Moran so much a wrapped because he did not have that assurance because of what Absalom had done in life is Absalom was going to be with the Lord. Verse 24 then David comforted Bathsheba's wife and went into her and lay with her so she bore a son and he called his name Solomon now the Lord loved and many sent word by the hand of Nathan the prophet, so he called his name Jedediah because of the Lord. Interesting the grace of God, Bathsheba and David ended up having Solomon, who was king of Israel who built the temple as mentioned in the genealogy of Christ in the New Testament God is so gracious and in Jedediah means beloved of the Lord really there's there's kind of an insinuation here early. At this point the Psalm is going be King David is beloved Solomon.

Jedediah is beloved of the Lord.

Verse 26. Magellan fought against Rabbi Rob of the people of Ammon took the Royal said city and you have sent messengers to Dave and set up fought against Rabbi and I've taken the city's water supply. Therefore gather the rest of the people together in camp against the city and take it lest I take the city and it be called after my name is interesting. Joe, I wanted to give his leader. The victory of taken the city, changing people say what you know. I just did all this made the boss look good. Neck, your function to work for this job and making look good, because it may make the guy look good are your woman. Boston reflects well on you doing a good job in I think you reap what you sow than you can read good thing when you make your boss look good in the long run. You do well and so Joab you know and maybe his heart and mercy is extended to David Nolan and David just went through this thing is a hard thing lost his child and you know I'm the next in the him and ask him to come when the victory first went out today to gather all the people together with the Rob on fought against it and took it. See what David's back in the battle. David was a warrior pellet man that he was supposed to be in the battle when he got out of bounds when he got all and always travel when he gets back into the battle. Things begin to go well. It's important friend. If you stumble to be falling, don't just sit on the sidelines for the rest of your life. You know there is a time and there is a placer cemented step down for ministering to take a season to make sure that season. The last two long as he similar sidelines long enough you can find trouble again. Verse 30.

Then he took the king's crown from his head and its weight was a talented gold with precious stones and it was settled. David said also he brought out the school of the city in great abundance. The talented gold was is a lot depending on that description found anywhere from 66 up to a like 100 pounds is a recurrent verse 31 he brought them they brought out the people who were in it and put in the work of Salz and Irons pics and iron axes and made them crossover to the brickwork so he did all the cities of the people of Ammon and David and all the people returned to Jerusalem. Nathan will have something to say about this in a few chapters of the way David conference dealt with these people. So here in this chapter we got this beautiful thing. Confrontation and restoration. When Nathan went to David. It wasn't to vent his anger. Nathan's goal was to see David restored in his relationship with the Lord. If you can't talk to somebody about something is going on in life with her messing up desiring to see them restored, then you probably shouldn't confront the goal of confrontation is restoration is actually a biblical thing in Matthew 18. You can read another time going into it. For Tomsic, but there's anything in there. It commonly referred to as disfellowshipped by what what happens if someone is messing up so my leadership is a you know what, this is a problem they don't hear you. The Bible says you get somebody else and you go back to and they don't hear you again you go back to him and so you know what you can come to church or not know very few churches that do this but it is a biblical concept. It's a painful biblical concept, and in almost 5 years that we've been a fellowship we've done that less than I can count on one hand but we have done what have we done out of anger, absolutely not.

We didn't see people restore and you may think why never heard of a church doing what it is in the Bible and it's in the Bible we should be doing if it's not in the Bible, then we should meet.

But in the goal is just to make sure that we got a perfect church and socially. Everything run smoothly. The wrong goal, but were doing that to see the person restored because here's what supposed to happen that person that was in fellowship that now is a been asked not to be in fellowship. They're going to miss the fellowship. Yes, come back and be with the Lord be restored to God first and foremost CK in and out, and I've often thought, you know this probably work much better in the early church because there is only one church and everything maybe get disfellowshipped. You could just go to another church right down the street. There was another church or dumpster you had to deal with the issue. Some of you know I sound really harsh. It's not hard that's not the intention you're not here in the heart of one thing the heart is restoration and again, if you go to confront somebody and you don't have the heart to see them restored. Don't go to pray for interesting Nathan looks at Dave and says you are the man and there's two other phrases in the bottom of it. Just to my mind time and want to move his pilot walks out with Jesus. After Jesus is been beaten so much and he presents Jesus to the crown. He says behold, the man hold the man and I'm reminded of what John said, behold the Lamb takes away some of the world ties back in the book of Revelation when nobody can open the scroll. People cry within, behold the Lamb can open the scroll because he was without sin. See everyone of us in our lives and maybe even the night your field always person you. You're the man you. You've done this, you've done that in your answer, you can make excuses or you say, behold the Lamb of God to cover my sense. I want to confess and I want to be forget God has every right to be angry at everyone of us to pour out his wrath upon everyone we done thing. Everyone of us have done things that is worthy of him pouring out his anger and his wrath.

God's vision went come to me and I'll forgive you. Confess your sins and I'll be faithful and just to forgive you of your sin. Have you let go of your past and he asked Jesus to forgive you of your sin and you let go of them. Are you still carrying them around your still carrying around Jesus is looking at you go what was mean Diane for you.

Not enough to forgive you of your sins. If you let go of the same. I keep in mind if you're not willing to come to God asking to forgive you of your sin you're asking for his anger to be poured out upon Shirley, you don't desire. Some 32 once is this blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

The last chapter in with God being displeased with David said and we see in this chapter that God did something about God is never pleased with her scent is displeased with her scent. So much so that he did some about a diverse in our choices and try to cover our sins ourselves and ask him to forgive the servers print. Do you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven.

You can know right now own Legion.

A short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now. Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I could have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry.

Please forgive me of all those things.

Please give me the power to live for you. All of my days in Jesus name, amen friend of you prayed that prayer according to the Bible you've been forgiven you've been born again. Jesus said he would not turn anybody away who comes to him and he came for those people who knew they needed forgiveness.
