How many arguments how many things that have gone wrong in your life have gone wrong.

If somebody you would've apologize along the way, you could defuse the whole situation interesting to something which was a veering argument, chances are you played some part in what went wrong. Maybe a small part maybe a big part apologize for that and watch what happened. Welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee, the senior pastor of the bridge in Kernersville, North Carolina. Today we have one of these assisting pastors with this welcome to the program. The vibrate of the listening and with our listeners today and it would go were talking about those three words that a lot of people want to say these days. I love you. That's one of them, but were talking about. I am sorry is it hard for you to sometimes say sorry by when you mess up or you make mistakes.

Assuming a mess of big mistakes. That's true, but I am assuming that that probably, but you know what Bob I am sorry for assuming that the better they talking about the words I am sorry and how many of our problems can result is good, so let's listen to David McGee continue sharing verse by verse through second Samuel chapter 10 so insert chapter 10 David is changing. And then last week we looked at his kindness to my favorite chef and am now with the Bishop was a offspring of Saul, Saul, grandson Jonathan, son, and David extends his kindness to him and we we saw that as an act of grace similar to the active grace of Jesus extends to us offering to ask to sit at his table. So now we pick it up in chapter 10 verse one. It doesn't happen after this the king of the people of Ammon died and his son reigned in this place and then David said I will show kindness and the Son of Man as his father showed kindness to me today and sent by the hand of his servants to comfort him concerning his father and David servants came into the land of the people of Ammon and the princes of the people of Ammon said to hang on their Lord.

Do you think that David really honored your father because he is sent comforters to you as David not rather sent his servants to you to search the city to spy it out and overthrow it and we have two pictures. David is not interested in spying the city out. He's not sending these guys into spy out the city. We take it at face value and that David was doing this to show kindness well to see how Noone handles verse four therefore and then took David servants shaved off after beard cut off their garments in the middle of their Botox and sent them away verse five when they told David he said to meet them because the men were greatly ashamed and the king said waited Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.

This is interesting when a new shame these men, he also shame 13. It wasn't just about the servants. It was about this Attitude towards King David. Remember that next time somebody rejects you sharing the good news. They're not really rejecting you.

When I give an invitation on Sunday morning or Thursday night and I know that there's somebody or some people or some persons that are out there and they're gonna reject the invitation. The thing that breaks my heart is not that there rejecting me or that you know it's not going to happen or whatever. The sad thing is in the fact that they are rejecting Jesus. There are consequences to rejecting Jesus. And when somebody rejects God's servant.

They are, in fact, to a degree rejecting God himself.

So remember that when your share. Now when you share with compassion when you share when you've been led by the Holy Spirit, and filled with the Holy Spirit in order to share and they reject you are not rejecting you there rejecting Jesus there rejecting your king verse six when the people of Ammon saw that they had made themselves repulsive. The date of the people of Ammon sent the Syrians about three hot in the Syrians is about 20,000 foot soldiers from the king of May, 1000 men and from this top 12,000 men is an interesting thing to me is what should they have done at this point, but the people of Ammon that what they should've done is they should've sent somebody to Israel somebody to drizzle somebody to King David and say you know what were sorry. I'm not sure what we were thinking we we had a bad day.

You know something bad food, something sorry with Jenna.

The whole thing could've ended right there. It would've ended right how many arguments how many things that have gone wrong in your life have gone wrong. If somebody you would've apologize along the way, you could defuse the whole situation interesting to something which was from a big role in ministry apologize quickly apologize quickly. You know, I've been in situations where I wasn't even sure what I done wrong to apologize ever that when you know you married me every night before you go to bed. Apologize to you what you might not know what it's for shield but I have actually apologize to be with you. I'm not sure what I've done to make you so angry but I've done some please forgive me and see what I'm doing and that is I'm setting that hopefully for the conversation got a veering argument, chances are you played some part in what went wrong. Maybe a small part maybe big part apologize for that and watch what happens because you know what one person can't really argue about himself.

They may try if they got a big head is single and they make going for a couple minutes when you continually apologize but at some point that arguments defuse Jesus in this.

Matthew 523 and 24 therefore you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

We misquote this verse and week we look at it wrong because a lot of think we go to the altar you know and we got some something against somebody we need to go straight versus versus if you go to the altar and your brother has something against you.

You gotta get that straightened out as pretty set the bar pretty high. What is that mean well.

The Bible talks about God structure and part of God structure.

I believe all into this but I believe God structure is for the husband, the man is to be the leader in the home now and the rest of night on this, but what is what is at me with that leader that was and is that mean he gets a hold a remote is at me with what is that me that mean he gets inside the restaurant to go to know.

Maybe. But just realize my wife was in the near no major stress related ways for Selena well in the context of what I'm saying that is misleading. Apologize to be a leader when it comes to repenting apologize and been the one to say you're sorry for just one. Some of you thought that leader thing was a mess. That's part of being a leader means being the first to say you're sorry.

That is bandleader wife lessen your many problems in our lives can be solved with the words. I am sorry many problems in our lives can be solved with the words I am sorry and yet and there's three words are so hard for us to say next three that are really difficult somehow for us to say and even when we say them sometimes eat you realize what we do we clarify and justify. We talked about this before but Manuel when you go to apologize about something for something ever explain why you did it because that's not really apologize everybody and here's done this and everybody and here's done. Had this done to you. I am so sorry that I yelled at you but you should not done me like that was an apology now. I'm sorry I did that you should look to me that way because were justifying our action say I'm sorry. Never use. I'm sorry but you're the thing is a verbal erasure and the fact it just erases everything that came before that.

I'm sorry but you shouldn't really done that what he really said you really say you're sorry your say no person shall know how many times her apologies key like I'm sorry, but you shall not you that's not really an apology.

So I'm sorry.

Most of us live a lifetime doing I'm sorry but so much so the next time you go to apologize. You might have to grab your mat. I'm sorry, but with training you can get where you say I'm sorry and then stopped.

Incidentally, can you make somebody else repent.

No king, you cannot do that is not within your power to be able to do that. So what should your concern be your counsel.

My that you're sorry. I didn't and that life is an intake. Most problems can be solved by saying you were wrong. So what this was probably thought about. I am sorry some counseling. Some therapies not really have a problem with this basic way. You really need to do first is you need to forgive God. Are you aware that the common therapy thing that I mean even among Christian therapists. You need to forgive. Got any different 010. You need to be forgiven by God, but must take that one step further because sometimes I will you know what you need to do is you need to forgive other people, that is part of what should happen but you know the first step is unity – forgiveness from other people. I have seen situations where they can mess and then it's like we will let you know I forgive you.

Okay what about the wounding that were done at the hands of that individual. Be careful, be careful about being consumed with somebody else apologizing to you and make sure that you apologize to somebody else because that's part of it that you're in control of you.

Here's another thing that struck me in a lot of the meat in this chapters.

In the first six or here's another thing is driving it says when the people of Ammon verse six saw that they had made themselves repulsive.

The David why did they think he was gonna do when they did this to the people.

He said I mean did they really think I know what the shape part of the rear and last (the robes or their families are showing Annina and David should please find help me find whether it did they really think that obviously they did because it says when they when they saw that they made themselves repulsive. They here's a human thing they didn't think of the consequences of the wrap they literally thought will do this and I'll be you know be fine to be cool and be funny.

Data how often we do we do something and we don't really think through the consequences that we don't think is what is always beneficial think the what is the consequences of her actions might be. Could be to think things through. These guys pick a fight, they were ready to find balance in the find Damon's upset like a mercenary. I mean, that's David's own.

What is your say then the people Ammon came out and put themselves in battle array at the entrance of the gate and the Syrians is owned by Beth Roja dish top and make outward by themselves in the field enjoyed solid, the battle line was against them behind before and behind each are some of Israel's best and put them in battle array against the Syrians. Keep in mind at this point Joab's allowed soldier Jones and find a lot for a long time for years and he had experience and so understand you know you have battles in your life under Senate battles in my life.

You have battles in your life that I don't know. I have battles in my life that you're not aware, but here's the thing. A lot of times we think well any confrontation, any battle we got one from but when we do that we miss out on a blessing because as you work through issues as you work through problems. There is a blessing.

There is a benefit in the next life lesson. Your battles give you needed life experience your battles give you needed life experience because as you work through situations as you work through circumstances they strengthen you. That's why you should try to work through issues like you know you got issue at work, try work through that issue work. There may not be work through with that situation at work and that you may get to the point where you have to change jobs or leave that out or whatever, but you should make every attempt to resolve that one.

Well, it'll benefit the company and will benefit you as an individual and if you just bail you're going to miss out on a blessing and then goes in, it would leave, and workplace will even adjust figures would leave in a church a lot of time, something no issue will come up with. You come up with a church. The church and benefit you would benefit if you would sit. Somebody leadership hey I got this problem.

Can you help me understand this.

While this is like that you would benefit church will benefit. What happens if you just bail you miss out on the blessing the church misses out on the blessings and nobody benefits from it now. Talk about iron sharpening iron and what happens when iron sharpens iron. The sparks fly and then scan of the relationship that we have with one another. The sparks are for and it's a good thing. It's not something to always be avoided first and the rest of the people he put under the command of Abshire's brother that he might set them in battle array against the people of Ammon. Verse 11 then he said of the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me, but of the people of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come and help you.

So there helping one another again. It's a beautiful picture of the body Christ we use this first Sunday Galatians chapter 6 verse two bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law so monies we can.

Maybe you're strong in that area. You can pray for them. You can help them. You can give them Scriptures.

Maybe your week in an area that there strong with so we carry one another's burdens. That's what were supposed to be doing verse will be of good courage, and let us be strong for people and for the cities of our God.

May the Lord do what his goodness again. It's important thing that everyone there was joining in the fight everyone there was joining the fight. Why, because I knew there was a finding on. Here's the thing that I'm noticing this ministry. Mr. early on the needs of the ministry the needs of the church's horse people serve really obvious. I mean scarily obvious that you know we had.

We had one couple that came in the first time ever this back when we were in the bowl will build first time they came in they came into the nursery and there was nobody in their so that was the first thing they like oh no place in the nursery and then the next thing that happened was an ex-family came and got the kids off to what was really cool about this family as they said later somebody would be on this is harmful gambling church would act like this and be like, and we will we been a church less than a year. At that point, you know what this couple. So they said you know what we realize right now there was a need in this body that we could help fill.

What a neat way to look at, not what's in it for me.

But what need. Could I help fill in the body of Christ understand.

I know we have this consumer mentality today, but you understand that's really how we should be approaching church life, not what can the church do for me. What can I do.

Is there a need that I can help meet at the church. That's one of you in the middle of the battlefield and somebody was sitting there and and you say mama stood there and they said well really feel led to file a just going to sit here and will do that really is and be horrible. Some believers some Christians think that God somehow called them to the sidelines of the battlefield doesn't call anybody to the sidelines of the battlefield ecology to the battle itself. So I encourage you, you know whether this is church another church see what can a need that you can meet because you are uniquely gifted and talented to meet some need in the body in some way and what happened as we work together to further the cause of the kingdom in verse 13 suggest the people who were with him drew near for the battle against the Syrians and they fled before.

Remember, the Syrians were mercenary.

The battle starts one of the why well because mercenaries they're not the ammonites, not the Israelites who have a vested interest in the battle. Verse 14. Soon the people of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fleeing. They also fled before Abshire and into the city so joint return from the people of Ammon went to date. Fear is contagious but shows courage. Courage is contagious bravery is contagious. Riverbend is one of the tell the world tell the world is when we get together and we go out this what is it we tell people about Jesus. Some of you because I just could never do that but here's what happens, we mean we go out to about two sometimes there's three people in a group because there's other people in the group across the street and so monies knocking on the door to tell the people about Jesus and invite him the church somehow that emboldened you telling people about just because we encourage one another like that so it's a good thing that that courage is correct.

Coming up contagious courage is courageous, redundant Department of redundancy when Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel to gather together then hated those are set and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the river and they came to Hilo shoebox, the commander of hated leaders are dowsers army went before them. When was told David he gathered all Israel crossed over the Jordan came in the Syrians set themselves in battle array against David and fought with them that see the it's all now mean this is a big battle. This is no longer just a small little thing, then the Syrians fled before Israel. David killed 700 charioteers and 40,000 horsemen of the Syrians and structure about the commander of their army, who died there.

When all the kings who were servants of hated days are saw that they were defeated by Israel.

They made peace with Israel and servants of the Syrians were afraid to help the people of Ammon anymore.

The Syrians were fighting with the wrong crowd and fight with ammonites. The ammonites had picked the fine. They had started if they had done something wrong in the Syrians because of money enjoying themselves in the wrong crowd. Make sure guys make sure that your joy with the right people for the right calls because if you get sucked in the wrong people for the right calls you will not be as effective in that call if you get in with the right people for the wrong cause you can you know the best induced hope that you will be in effect because you don't wrong right people right calls can't go wrong go back to someone to get another verse.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly nurse stands in the path of sinners sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not, whatever he does shall prosper.

Here's an interesting thing and it's not happenstance, because these chapters are side-by-side last week we looked at David extending kindness to the fellowship, and what was his response. His response was, you know I'm not deserving of this kind, and I graciously accept the kings kindness towards me this week we have in the next chapter in this chapter we have food and who has the same opportunity same exact situation.

David sends servants to be kind to this man but what was his response to be unkind to the servants same situation sinking, sinking, extending kindness and grace and mercy to totally different responses and that's where we find ourselves not because there's a king much more glorious and powerful than David that tonight has extended his kindness to what will our response be as I sit up here and I proclaimed God's goodness in God's mercy and God's love will it be your response to Shane God's messenger maybe leave here and talk about what I did wrong or how I didn't say this writer. I went to law are not long enough for you did like the fact that it never sued on her or whatever will your response be no undeserving of this mercy that comes from the king. I know I'm not worthy to be forgiven of the things on the but somehow he still is willing to extend me mercy and grace what your choice you want to be like with a vicious and say yes you know I'll come to the king's table. Thank you for the invitation. I'm not worthy to be invited to this table.

Thank you for your grace. Thank you for your mercy, I gladly accept or will you be like in Shane God serve my prayer prayer a lot of people here is that you accept the kindness of the king because friends again when when you reject the kindness of the king not rejecting me you're not rejecting whoever whenever they present this kindness to your rejecting the king himself the King of Kings and Lord of lords who died for you friend, you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven. You can know right now own Legion.

A short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now. Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I could have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry. Please forgive me of all those things. Please give me the power to live for you. All of my days in Jesus name, amen friend of you prayed that prayer according to the Bible you've been forgiven you've been born again. Jesus said he would not turn anybody away who comes to him and he came for those people who knew they needed forgiveness. Those who were sick, not the righteous.
