The Bible is a story of redemption in the book of Genesis man messed up man fell God will not stop until he redeems the most people you talk to specialist people are Christian is that what they would say the bow is about is a will the bottles about dues and all rules and regulations and is basically there to make you feel the Bible's book of redemption welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee Senior Pastor of the bridge in Kernersville North Carolina today in the program. We have meal.

One of David Mickey's assisting pastors to help share with us, Bob. Good to be here today. Just like other books of the Bible. Here in second Samuel as well.

Yet here about God damn shame for people and those he loves you. What does redemption mean to you think about Bob how I've been redeemed all the stuff that I've ever done.

Declared innocent because of Christ's sacrifice on the cross is that all those who would accept and receive the gift of Jesus on the cross talk about that today Bible story of redemption.

So let's listen as David McGee shares how King David was with me through God's power in second Samuel chapter 7 looking at the life of David and he really does have a passion for God, anything, they would make some pretty major mistakes, but he still have a heart towards God and I and I think were everyone of us can relate to that because every one of us has made a mistake. Some of them really seriously some serious consequences.

And yet God still desires a relationship with an amazing thing. I think a lot of times, especially speaking from experience, having been raised in the South, having been raised in churches. There's a legalism that I'm spending a lifetime unlearning legalism, meaning that God loves me when I'm doing everything right when I mess up God no longer loves. One definition of legalism. Ellis look at chapter 7 second Samuel verse one.in the past when the king was dwelling in his house in the Lord to give them rest from all his enemies all around but the king said to Nathan the prophet see now dwelling house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside to anchor the Nathan said to the king go do all that is in your heart for the Lord is with you what happened that night that the word of the Lord came to Nathan saying go until my servant David thus says the Lord would you build a house for me to dwell for have not dwelt in the house since the time that I brought the children of Israel from Egypt even to this day, but have moved around in the tent and tabernacle where moved about with all the children of Israel have I spoken word anyone up from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel sent. Why have you not built me a house of cedar.

Now therefore, thus shall you say to my servant David thus says the Lord of hosts, I took you from the sheepfold following the sheep to be ruler over my people over Israel version and I've been with you wherever you have gone and have cut off all your enemies from before you and made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth.

Moreover, I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more, nor shall the sons of wickedness suppress them anymore. As previously assumed. Some of these promises are conditional. God gave the land. Israel and that was unconditional and given the land as was unconditional.

That promise is still in place today. Their enjoyment of the land was conditional upon there being said the reason that later on with the Assyrians and with the Babylonians and in later life of the Romans. The reason they didn't enjoy the land. The reason they work in that I believe is because of disobedience to God's grace God's mercy now has restored Israel back to the lands let's understand that as we get the simile promises versus when your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers. I will set up your seat after you will come from your body and I will establish his kingdom. Verse 13 he shall build a house for my name and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

Verse 14.

I will be his father and he shall be my son if he commits iniquity will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the blow of the sons of God chastens the ones he lives Bible talks about verse 15 but my mercy shall not apart from him as I took it from Saul my removed from before you. My mercy members. What is merciless the start about mercy. Mercy can be defined as not getting what you deserve.

Mercy can be defined as not getting what you deserve. Never forget you teach my children.

This is what mercy is what grace is grace is getting what you don't deserve mercy is not getting what you do this, how often do you need God's mercy all the time. Your ear lies about tells us that his mercies are new every words, every morning you wake up. Mercy good don't put all the why doesn't he use yesterday's mercy because you are using all of yesterday's mercies messed up as well. You messed up that way, God will get their numerous, his mercies never in your never going to stretch his mercy beyond his capabilities. We need to understand this concept of mercy is a lot in the New Testament run through some Scriptures Ephesians 2 forces this but God, who is rich in mercy. Get the picture in mercy was written to me means you got all your talk about money. I mean, you know, rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us first Peter 13 says it's all water to the Godfather Lord Jesus Christ. For it is by his boundless mercy that God has given us the privilege of being morning to how do you say you say through grace, safety, mercy, boundless mercy was that me know about it knows no limit nobody's ever come to God asking him to forgive them of their sins and and got down go will will will will you and your I can't forgive you duties simply gone too far. God is worse.

First Peter 210 once you were not a people, now you're the people of God. Once you receive not of God's mercy. Now you have received this Savior in here tonight. You've asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins, you are a recipient 88 receiver of God's mercy and God's grace life lesson here God's mercy is available to all God's mercy is available to every person in here has access through Jesus Christ, God's mercy. Verse 17, according to all these words and according to all this vision so Nathan spoke to David as Nathan learned a hard lesson 01 days as a form and do whatever is in your Internet is going to come back the next thing David, but they'll dimpling the God is no wish to God for always talk God first ask God listen to God and what God says don't do what God says not and we did that would still so much room God listen to God doing God's Nathan stop and say well know, David, let me talk to God about missing less noticed David's response.

Then King David went in the set before the Lord, and he said whom the Lord God is my that you brought me this far as review David one build the temple, God said no I'm establish a kingdom not build the temple what you're going to see from now to the rest of chapter is not even whining or complaining global movement to the Davidson you know for you to give these things I never forget first first times ever played out in public as a believer and had some tapes made by plaintiff in public before the first whatever time after making the patient to petition how longer, though, and so simultaneous documents. It was like a tape contest. Mercy will take place in the tape to find money later Senate next document. The table got a tape $20 on the table start to walk last to get your check should not just keep it.

Be blessed that still small voice is that God said you will never give me now is a lesson on the ministry, less you can never out give God. Not just homophonic against the deposit fun if you can never out give God. You can never out give God with your time with your energy.

Whatever you do to the Lord, the Lord pours himself back on now courting the balance as a if you want to receive give liberally because as you give you will receive. You have problems receiving go back to the first part of David said that David was just a servant of God as a servant of God eats this in Psalm 8410. He said a single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else. That's where that song gets that way.

I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked verse 19 this was a small thing in your spinal Lord God and you have also spoken of your servants have for going away while the calm is this the manner of man, Lord God.

Now, what more can David Sadie for you, Lord God know your servant, for your sake, and according to your own heart. You have done all these great things to make your servant no God knows David it's about God still chooses David. Why is that because in God's choosing is God's grace and God's choosing is God's grace God chose you because you pull one over on now because he really doesn't know what you've done and what you haven't felt in spite of all that God love you so much that he chose you and in choosing so much grace God nobody was when he chose you. You know you're married yes your ear married, you realize you know you got married but you are saying is thereby marries a stranger what you got married, probably things that you noticed that you hadn't noticed before. Maybe I should just leave really general like there were surprises some good, some bad, but there were some surprises because you didn't really know me know God God that still chose God knew every little weirdness about all your inconsistencies in all that mercy it says for your word sake. When Scott makes a process it. That's it. When God makes a promise that it once got a smoking you about something and you know it's the Lord that you trust and believe it can hold onto it again. This is not the grace often. Mercy was greatly grace means you didn't earn it. You don't deserve it given to you is gonna give it to you again when you accept Jesus, you accept grace when you reject Jesus you reject grace you're listening to Pastor David McGee on cross the bridge will be back with more than just a moment but first, if you haven't been to our website@crossthebridge.com yet what are you waiting for go to cross the bridge.com to learn more about how listeners like you are helping get the life-changing truth of God's word to more people to the radio, Internet and mobile technologies across the bridge.com you can also check out our broadcast schedule.

Now here's Pastor David as he continue showing verse by verse, verse 22. Therefore, you are great or got for there is none like you, nor is there any God massaging, according to all that we have heard with all areas likely sing like there is none like him asking questions is a trick question. Who is God's opposite. God has no Satan is not God's opposite.

Satan is the opposite of Gabriel or Michael, one of the head angels, Satan is not God's opposite. There is no body like God. And whenever people refer to Satan as being as opposite given him a way too much granite. Verse 23 and who is like you people like usual one nation on earth. And God went to redeem for himself as a people to make for himself a name to do for yourself great and awesome deeds for your land or your people whom you are doing for yourself, from Egypt, the nation, and their gods. Exodus chapter 6 verse six speaks of God delivering the Israelites from Egypt interesting verse says therefore say to the children of Israel. I am the Lord. I will bring you out from under the burdens of the I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgment. I firmly believe this verse speaks prophetically of the way that we will be redeemed by Jesus down on the cross with his arms out. I will redeem you with an outstretched Galatians chapter 4 responses to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption scrapers, meaning that before he came to Jesus you were under the law when you messed up. You deserve all the punishments want to come to Jesus, you no longer under the law year under the grace of God. Galatians talks about what is this redemption me just like if you redeem something if you take something that you have an exchange it for something else. That's a redemptive actor redeeming something or redeeming coupons or what you understand this is what the books about redemption is the next life was. The Bible is a story of redemption.

The Bible is a story of redemption, not just one person being redeem. But God's redemptive act from the beginning in the book of Genesis man messed up man fell God will not till he redeems people story in search of an that's what the Bible is about about redemption Matthew question. Most people you talk to specialist people are Christians. Is that what they would say the Bible is about to say all the bottles about dues and don'ts and rules and regulations and is basically there to make you feel the Bible's book of redemption of whole forgiveness of love and joy. Some judgment, but judgment for those who refuse God's mercy and God can redeem any anybody got the mate he can redeem any can redeem your family members your frenzy can redeem you thinking redeem your love as he can pour out his mercy on you and have you pour out your mercy is mercy on verse 24 free of major people Israel.

Your very own people forever. Forever not just till they got you how the country and 72, 89, this is forever and you Lord have become their God now got the word which you have spoken concerning your servant concerning his house establishing forever and do as you said select your name be magnified forever sing the Lord of hosts is the God of Israel and let the house of your servant David be established before verse 27 free will. Lord of host God of Israel have revealed this to your servant saying I will build your house therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you.

Also concept here. David has figured out what God wants to do. David's brain according to the will of God's life that we try to pray, talking God in the sum there's a few prayers that you can break. You know it's God's will and people getting say that's God's will is will none should perish without going to repent. Pray according to the will of God.

Verse 28 now, Lord God, you are God in your words are true in your promises goodness to your servant crazy. Keep using your servant uses it like nine times in the your servant, your servant, your servant, please understand what's going God is saying no to David Davises.

I want to build. But here's what I whenever God closes a door. He opens no ever got close the door. He opens no one. And it's a better door than the one that was close. Don't sit there and be like, what's in English and let's make a deal door number three. God you don't get to choose. In this game we call life. I choose this for your best. I know what you can trust is notice why God says no you're not build the temple is what I'm the Messiah, the anointed one, the Savior of the world is going to come through your family and David's responses like he's blown away sometimes.

As soon as we heard here a note from God were often run whine and complain and telling God he should be real out or rethink this thing.

If we did sit quietly.

Okay. Got you doing something better than I could do what you want me to do then you hear something better that door that's open is better than the door that was because David forever for the rest of the book is going to talk about the kingdom and the throne of David, the first verse in the New Testament, Matthew 11 says that the book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ described Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Luke writes in his Gospel. Luke 131 and behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of the highest. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David Peter says when he speak in the book of acts chapter 2 verse 29 he submitted brother, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried his tomb is with us in the state.

Therefore being a prophet, knowing that God has sworn with him and to end the root of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on. Paul writes Romans chapter 1 Paul, a bondservant, Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God which you promised before through his prophets in all the Scriptures concerning his son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh forever because of these promises we read about the God keeps his promises. God told David what is due.

David messes up God still keeps us from the temple that was a good thing we got to know not use the money will overnight and David was in submission to David and think himself salty so that's okay submission and Thanksgiving always also responses to work. So God keeps his promises. God promised you, there's lots promises in here to you that if you come to him. He will turn you away that if you ask him to forgive you. He will bear fact, he says if you do that you have everlasting life, and you live in heaven forever, and as hard as it is for our minds and our hearts to wrap themselves around those things.

God keeps us from verse 29 now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue before you forever for you, oh Lord God of spoken with your blessing. Let the house of your servant.

Be blessed forever and give notice and keep senior start.

He considered it on to be the servant of God. If you here tonight. You asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins are you, the servant of God is not a title that you could use without being a total hypocrite.

You say well servant of God can't, God wants to bestow that honor upon you to be his servant. He wants to give you and it is the Congress of the servant of God is hard for me to understand when when somebody says will I think he talks about serving tumor. I got understand get up and never do, never will because God offers to each and every one of the CJC not I want to honor you by making you a servant, and yet some people go me the I want to serve the most time living God. It's all about me fact I'm even offended that you use the word servant while you're missing blessing God says they will give you great name God gives David God says to give you son. God gives David a son. God says that son is going to build the temple that's unbilled and God says you know what your throat is going to endure forever. And guess what is throne endures forever. God keeps us from Davises all build your house God says no but I got a better plan. Remember that love next time God says no to you about something, wait and let them finish the sentence and see what door is about is it'll be better than anything you could ever plan anything you could ever imagine. I know you probably know your pitfalls and urgent shortcomings. He knows your weaknesses disliking and David's is still up still call still taught him how to avoid the bad decisions how to avoid the pitfalls.

Unfortunately, David chose to walk right in the summer like we do to God wants to bless us. As a matter fact God's blessing is upon us and as we attempt to bless God bring glory to his name is just bless you more. You will never out bless God ever you try to bless got to try to bless God is are we doing some give him something like that. Watch what God does. Got to see Megan out bless me. You bless me a little bit. I bless you a lot.

God is a blessing God. God is a blessing. He wants to bless you :-( he wants to draw you closer to himself. Maybe you've heard know recently about some new job or something new house, new car, whatever gets better for trust trust because God never shuts one door that he doesn't open God loves you that much maybe forgotten these concepts of redemption, mercy and grace. This is what it's all about God wants to redeem everyone wants to give us his mercy and grace and friend before you reject that you need to consider what that means is when you reject Jesus you reject grace you reject mercy and you receive judgment. God's mercy and grace can be given any who will allow him to give them the best gift in Estes. Jesus comes with these things.

Mercy and grace and forgiveness and redemption. When somebody turns away from God turns away from Jesus there turning the judge and I hope that maybe you've been trying to walk and works got her money and I is gracious versus redemption friend you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven. You can know right now only Jenna short, simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. God wants you to pray this prayer so much that he died to give you the opportunity and the ability to ask him to forgive you.

Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now. Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I could have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry.

Please forgive me of all those things. Please give me the power to live for you. All of my days in Jesus name, amen friend of you prayed that prayer according to the Bible.
