He is teaching through second Samuel chapter 3 and here the studio have one of the biggies assisting pastors meal to share with us great to be here with you Bob, great to be here with the listeners today and Pastor Davis can be share with us when things that difficult moment we needs strength and wisdom. What we do will meal we can look in the Bible, talk to friends. What else can we do we pray we pray we pray we ask God for that strength and wisdom. Really, that's an important thing for us to be doing and Pastor Dave so let's listen as David McGee shares verse by verse continues teaching through second Samuel chapter 3. Turn with me to second Samuel chapter 3 for those who haven't been with us and set up the chapter what's going on. Also, just a refresher for us who have been here second Samuel is a continuation of first Samuel we believe the part of these books which were originally one book in the Hebrew Bible part of war written by Samuel and we believe second Samuel was written primarily by Nathan and Gad. Perhaps what were not positive and now were into the story of David first Samuel dealt with Samuel and then Saul and David comes on the scene in first Samuel and now David is, of main players you will central focus of the book and what's going on now is there's a Civil War between David and the remaining son of Saul is what's going on and and there's contentious listeners battles and there's fighting in their Civil War in the nation of Israel people getting hurt. So that's kind of the set up chapter 3, verse one, second Samuel is now there was a long war between the house of Saul, the house of David, but David grew stronger and stronger in the house. Saul grew weaker and weaker. So when the civil the house of David was winning. We talked about last week helped the men that were with David were very experienced in finding and in battles where the people that were left remaining with Saul were those people who didn't engage in the last battle that's always been where he was killed and also three of his four sons verse two sons were born to David and have brought his firstborn was Amnon by and I am the judge.

I want to make him a leader nor do not just get a visual check. Okay, while only time after time, God is been right in leading me to wait wait very long mean I'll never forget this. I got interesting guy got what I think is the best job and were leaving college job just can't interesting member once in a nice, worn-out, tired, and this couple, they they took him inside. They said you know I will pray for you okay I said no, we will pray for you right now. Can you come over and sit with his gay that you think you're being paranoid. Pastor David know I sat down with them and they said we want to pray for Jessica Sinnott. We need to know how to pray as well. Pray for wisdom and discernment. We we want to know what's really going on what we want to know your struggles. Pray for wisdom in certain what we just we know you're struggling. We know you're going through some things you can just hear that this pray for wisdom and you can tell they were frustrated. They were flustered and they prayed for me. Two weeks later, the routing saying all kinds of stuff. What if I had shared that light stuff that was really going on revealed my heart is yours. Wisdom is not everybody and I don't mean to make you paranoid but not everybody that comes to you saying the right thing is really a godly person.

You have to use discernment as they can say what sounds like the right thing, but they're doing it for the wrong motives, so be careful and over time you can begin to trust people and over time I begin to trust men and there's there's there's men inherent in this church that I just I trust him with my life. Abner's motivations are coming to the surface. Verse eight.

Then Abner became very angry at the words of this bitter shift and sit at my dog's head that belongs to Judah today. I should loyalty to the house and saw your father to his brothers into his friends knew and have not delivered you and David and you charge me today with a fall concerning this woman. May God do so to Abner Moore. You notice he blows up, but he never answers a question you know that's just something we always got guaranty. Everybody in this room is used to once Evernote somebody ask you something, will you, but you never answer the question. So be careful when somebody asked you to respond about an issue respond to the issue because really what happened to resorts to hear. It was beyond its emotional manipulation. He gets upset.

It's interesting to watch sometimes what happens when when you have a disagreement with somebody tells you a lot about the relationship when when your agreement with stuff is very rosy everything, but when you have disagreements is when you really learn about the relationship your first disagreement with a friend, your first disagreement in a marriage your first disagreement at work tells you a lot how you handle that disagreement and a lot of times what we do is we avoid disagreements at all costs. We have a disagreement we don't talk to him anymore. We avoid them in the hallway with voting at the store.

What had disagreement instead of working for the disagreement which strengthens us strengthens them strengthens the relationship people choose churches as long as they don't have a disagreement there fun for the moment disagreement happens from there out of and they miss an opportunity for them to grow for the church to grow and the person at the disagreement the growth as you have disagreements. If you never have disagreements with somebody with another person. What he was lying.

I mean**the reality and so you work these disagreement but Abner, he's not willing to do that is been interesting and once I have a disagreement. Once I have it, let me tell you this, I will appoint or anoint a man as an elder to. I've had a disagreement with kisses. Then I get to see as far these men come immediately. I really agree with what you're doing here but you got anointed. Years later, I'm with you never hear anything else about it in another hearts with friends when somebody comes to you about a disagreement there, stepping out into a very uncomfortable place because they value your friendship.

Verse 19 and Abner also spoke in the hearing of Benjamin and Abner also want to speak in the hearing of David and have brought all the same. Good Israel. I will arise and go and gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with you and that you may reign over all, that your heart desires.

At that moment the servants of David and Joab came from a rain brought much more with them.

Last chapter Abner held Joab's brother in about Abner actually warns the brothers should quit following me if you quit if you keep following me will have it out, you will lose and that's what happened. Verse 24 then Joab came to the king is and what he done like came to you that you sent him away in his Oregon verse 25 surely realizing Abner Sumner came to deceive you to know you're going out your coming in in the know all that you are doing the wisdom not to listen, discuss counsel, as this is bad counsel. This guy was saying you know what just come Espa�a. Let's continue on with the war. David has the wisdom and the perception the sea. The war is just killing a lot of people and it's a time for peace. Be careful is whenever there's a time to make a peaceful somebody there will come somebody that stirs up that thing you want peace in a relationship and you're about phone calls and email somebody will come and go. I can't believe you're not going email them or mindedness after letting you.

You just don't forget all careful Joab would have done well follows king and even though he disagreed with them should follow David's leadership, but he does and he ends up suffering and a lot of people end up suffering only when I get Joab is David's nephew.

So some family stuff going on probably as well. Verse 26 and when Joab gone from David's presence.

He sent messengers after Abner brought him back from the well of Sarawak, but David did not know that when Abner had returned to have brought Joe and took him aside and the gate to speak with them privately and there stabbed him in the stomach so that he died for the blood vessel held his brother Joab wanted revenge.

But you know what this is it really revenge because I had been killed in a battle actually been warned by Abner himself. Joab committed murder.

They were about any took advantage of the fact that there were some peace talks going is interesting. It's in have grown notice he took them to the gate some interesting stuff had brought was what was called a city of refuge, meaning that if you would messed up even to the point of killing somebody you could go to the city of refuge and they would determine whether you were at fault where you could not, whether you were not at fault and it was a place of protection you could not be messed with.

Where's not under the protection anymore understand there's a protection over the body of Christ when you're plugged into a body interactive part of that fellowship is just a protection that goes with that year here in a body or hearing the word of God you got relationships or some other goalie should do that are really should be thinking that way and once you move out of that body never goes as well. I've heard so many stories after stores now and I know you sit here tonight and you get all I don't have to be in a church to worship God and follow God without going to church at the theoretically yeah maybe you know what I want it in every conversation I ever had was made that statement. You know what I'm going to. The point is that oh you can't get housing on was going real well right we need one another, God made it that way. One of us is like a big toe and others of the II guess on the mouth. You know in somebody else's and we all work together as the body. Pricing will need one. This is a refuge.
