Is offering advice.

Take a look at their life really mature Christian. Are they active in a church sermon given you can see spiritual fruit in their life. If you can friend you should listen to because obviously there advice isn't bearing fruit in their life. Why would you take advice and slaves on their son somebody whose life is bearing fruit and go to them and say 8.the situation we think out of the welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee Senior Pastor of the bridge in Kernersville, North Carolina.

On today's program.

One of David McGee's assisting pastors with this welcome pastor thanks Bob, thank you listeners for listen in today. As we continue to dig through God's word.

We talk about being careful that we don't take bad counsel or advice about you know the best way to do that or just if it sounds good to you just receive the advice, whether or not it's in the Bible or not. No way.

Bob give advice when we get counsel always good to look at God's word to make sure that it lines up with the things that the Lord tells Jackie right… And more about that and how that works in our life. As David McGee shows verse by verse through first Samuel chapter 6 somewhere in verse in chapter 26 is not as it fights came to Saul and give me a saying is David not hiding in the hill patch opposite gesture. Then Saul arose and went down to the wilderness as having 3000 chosen men of Israel with them to seek David in the wilderness and selling camp in the helicopter which is opposite gesture month by the road, but David stayed in the wilderness and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness and David therefore sent out spies and understood that Saul had indeed come to David arose and came to the place where Saul had and can and David saw the place were Salt Lake and Abner the son of an early commander was Army also lay within the camp with the people and camped all around.

Then David answered and said to him, elect the Hittite and to Abba shy, the son of zero brother of Joe absent who will go down with me to Saul in the camp and Abba shy said I will go down with you. So David Nava shy came to the people by nightmare Saul lay sleeping within the camp and a spirit stuck in the ground by said and Abner and the people lay all around. Then Abba shy said the David God has delivered your enemy into your hand this day. Now therefore, please let me strike them at once with the spirit right to the earth and I will not have to strike them a second, but David said Abba shy, do not destroy them for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord's anointed, and be guiltless. Verse 10 David said furthermore, as the Lord lives, the Lord shall strike him or his day shall come to die, or he shall go out to battle and perish. David was not wishing this on. They would was saying you know what God can take care. God is going to take care of quick review. Saul is trying to kill David. David knows this. Saul is asleep at David's feet with one of his soldiers right there with the spear willing to take them out and David says not going to trust God and trust God to deal with this matter. You have to ask yourself as you look at the story and and again there was similar story a few chapters ago. Why are there two stories like this in the book of Samuel that have so many parallels when ever you see this in the word of God. What it means is it's very very important and there something that we need to grab hold and remember when this book was written roughly 3000 years ago they copied it by hand. The scroll for first Samuel loan was would've been 3540 feet long. Probably it was to scrolls action. And yet God wanted to record two very similar stories while because God wants us to learn a lesson about our enemies. Life lesson or trust God with your enemies.

Trust God with your enemies. It's one thing to trust God with your friends. It's a little bit harder to trust God with your children, but trusting with your enemies, that's a real litmus test of our faith in God.

That's a real challenge, and it hears part of the challenge to understand sometimes you don't know who your enemies are. I don't mean to make you paranoid or anything, but there are some people in your life right now that you think they're your friends friends probably some people in your life right now that you think they're your enemies are not your enemies. Trust God. In either situation, and we have the model of Jesus is very convicting because as you look at the interaction Jesus had with Judas and you realize some things in that upper room when Jesus announced that somebody was going to betray. They didn't know it was.

Now we read that would how could they not know who it was, obviously was due this and we think that way because we have this we get this printer that you know Judas was this guy with a young black cape and dark sunglasses that you know whenever you laugh you like will you know and so when we read that.

Sorry think Jesus is probably the guy with a weird life just like print, but he was he was one of the more religious people in that group and it was obvious to the group who was betrayed and what is Jesus didn't treat Judas any different than the but Jesus knew Judas was going to betray.

And Jesus still didn't treat him any different man challenging in utilizing when I sometimes treat people different for what we think they might do. But Jesus knew what Judas would do and then training many that see here's here's the thing somewhere along the line the last 2000 years Christianity has begun to think that we got a search out and destroy the enemies of the faith part of our job. I was enemies of faith are taken about have tickets of protest boycotts. Those sorts of think that selling short. Our purpose and what were supposed to be doing. See, I think far too often we try to identify the enemies of Christianity, and in doing so we alienate a bunch of people were supposed to be ministering to. I like what Chuck Pastor Chuck Smith says his vision of the church. If you think of a traffic accident and you get to a traffic accident, the church, the people of the church are supposed to be like the EMTs are supposed to be the guys that like in the ambulance to show up to to care for the wounded but to also show up to the same likely going to give you pitch. Follow me on this. Can you imagine an ambulance worker coming to a traffic accident and you know comes up in man's land on the ground bleeding in the emergency worker comes up goes is going faster with anybody.

They never sleep out on I guess since been drinking a lot of what we do is the same main happen. You made a mess of yourself all help be there for anything when help.

That's what the church is supposed to be that you're sitting there going to pastor actually going to forest now you need to reread the parable of the tares and the we that it talks about in Matthew 13 when Jesus himself says don't we try to separate you you you can't tell the wheat from the tares and if you try to tear the we the tears Alawite mess of the week. I did a recent study of that parable just got all freshly convicted because a lot of times we think that's her job and look at this chapter, you realize David never talks about how messed up Saul with not one time was Saul messed up colleague you could you could write a book on that will there is a book.

Actually Saul is with David never talks about man that is so convicting David never speaks ill of this met why can Saul still was leader songs try to killing you and talk about good reasons to talk about your leadership, but he still not doing what I mentioned that because it amazes me the way that people who say they follow Jesus was built for speed speak ill of their boss.

They speak ill of their pastor. They speak ill of their spouse. They speak ill of their parents should be shouldn't be what you don't know what you know.

I don't know but were looking at a story where this man was John Kelly, I still didn't say anything bad about love because David trusted God with his enemies is God's going to tell you I don't have to throw a spear through you now last chapter. David realizes once again when he was dealing with the ball and he was going to deal with the ball and he ended up not dealing with the ball and guess it didn't deal with the ball. God did unasked question the enemies that are in your life and some of us have enemies. Do you want to deal with. Are you what I got. Doing I let God, they will. I can trust that God will bill, maybe not on my timetable, maybe not next week, maybe not next year might be a long time but God will straighten the situation now and noticed something David did not trust the Council about Michelle and see here's Saul getting bad counsel call getting as all lessons. David gets bad counsel that was shot was taken out one shot, and David doesn't listen. Be careful. Bad counsel.

Be careful of bad counsel.

People are always willing to offer advice you know someone is offering advice. Take a look at their life. Are they mature Christian. Can you see fruit in their life or they are active in a church serving given are the you can see spiritual fruit in their life. Even if you can't friend you should listen to because obviously there advice isn't bearing fruit in their life.

Why would you take advice and some eyesight bearing fruit, find someone whose life is bearing fruit and go to them and say that the situation we think out of the thank you for listening to David McGee with cross the bridge ministries. During these difficult times. Now back to David McGee verse 11. David continues, says the Lord forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the Lord's anointed.

But please, take now the spear and the jug of water that are by his head, and let us go to David took the spear and the jug of water by Saul Sedley got away, and no man saw or knew it, or will, for they were all asleep because a deep sleep from the Lord have fallen on them. When I read this you can't answer the question because I cannot thought you should David have really been wandering around the campus.

All wholeness, fairness, and tempting himself. Well, apparently God had led him into the camp because the Lord laid game heavy sleep.

Let me deal with one. One thing because I've heard people there some teachers out there that have the just teach heresy.

They teach is horrible doctrinal things and when somebody comes along and says it when he talking about… Or it is un-biblical. You should be teaching this and they go to this verse too much snow off the Lord's anointed us understand something. David was under Saul's authority he was under Saul's authority, he he's not talking this is his leader and he saying this is the man that God is anointed to be a leader over me in my life, not just some other person so I think that's kind of a twist in and out of contact but it does mean that whoever's been placed in leadership above you has been placed there by God. Some of you probably work for ungodly people you wanted no way could God have this person owned over me or anyone guy can produce something good.

As you live your Christian life out in front of them. Maybe it's going to cause them to begin mass consumption question about your faith noticed what I wish I said when they get that God has delivered your enemy into your hand. This day I think that much is true.

But then I have a shot next he makes mistakes he assumes that the reason that Saul is been delivered in their hands, is so that they can killing the reason Saul's been delivered in to his hands, is the test.

David the test. Remember that stuff happens to you in life test just to test and you will be tested for an average going all in God. Good luck killing one about a scene here's the thing. You can mistakenly think out of put in a situation like Frank masculine.

What do you do when you're somewhere and they give you too much change back: praise the Lord, the Lord gives the median take from you.

Blessed be the name of the Lord. Some people think that only gave me but they put the game into Mustang. Praise God only ordered four borders -7.

Praise the Lord why men it's a test to test have never been convicted member back when the refund was there's not very many of them anymore because cell phones with at least be a phone booth everywhere I went to use the phone one day and is on the front and set my finger into the corn return slot and there's a way that consumers going in there to put a coin in the looking for some it's not mine are not God.

Sure, and I've been places where innocent was given too much change back or whatever and I'll say all you know what you getting too much money in the responses are interesting.

I have had some very response ahead in a one person so all is us. That's very nice and are not present what why do you tell me so. Because I follow Jesus will be honest and will be real right while maybe. Maybe that person had a misconception about the Christians are that I was able to break down just because he gave me next quarter extra dollar and was willing to give it back is a test. I haven't passed every test, another time somebody did that when I gave the money back they said all you are such a good and honest person swingman. I'm not really. I used to be a horrible person. Effective you to turn your head out of bed in the till before, but I'm following Jesus now and Jesus is done something in my life he's changed me in exchanging this person who wants to do something right have the desire to do something to these times when you find us all asleep at your feet. Don't all dramatically assume all praise God less killing God's given me Saul right in my hand. This is awesome. Thank you Jesus. It might be.

It might be a test to what how we handle our enemies tells a lot about us what Jesus was, when he said he not pray for your love your enemies, that's the test. If you're just nice to the people that are nice to you.

No big deal. Everybody does. Jesus said, but if you love and you pray and you do good to those who are evil to you that assure the world. Verse 13, that David went over to the other side and stood on the top of the hill far off a great distance being between them they were using wisdom David in this whole situation is acting in wisdom and noticed something to. Unless review David knows he's about to became he noticing this all taken off of the stage. He's going to became so not only is a thing of Saul trying to kill him and him. He attempted to wipe Saul out. He's also been tempted from the sense that as soon as that happens, he's going to advance in a manger faction in his life, but is not willing to lose his heart for the Lord's principles is ethics. If you will, is integrity so that he can become king makes you think, what are you willing to do to get a job promotion. Make the next step up the ladder. They was.

Not only do those things. Verse 14 David called out to the people to have of the son of nurse and do you not answer Abner and Abner answered and said who are you calling out to the king persisting so David said that Abner, are you not a man and who is like you in Israel.

Why then have you not guarded your lord the king for one of the people came in to destroy your lord the king this thing that you've done is not good as the Lord lives. You deserve to die because you've not guarded your master the Lord's anointed and now see were the king's fear is in the jug of water was Brideshead is an amazing thing unnoticed. David is not being shy about slamming that. Are you a man coming this is not only hazy. He's messing with Abner EB's will in the mess with Abner wising up mess with assault because he still wonder Saul's authority seek and go OJ. David was just a really nice guy. He just beginning. Surely well no not really.

I mean, might've been a nice guy, but that's not why he was nice to Saul, he was under Saul's submission, you remove that leadership think he's ready mess with Abner and as a matter fact, look at David's loyalty. David is mad at Abner for not protecting Saul the man who's trying to kill David Wayne. David was an awesome awesome leader. The spear understand it if you join us for the first and while the lighter first time ever, the spear plays an important part because Saul has tried to kill David twice before with the spirit in first Samuel 1811. This is an Saul cast the spear, for he said, I will pin David to the wall, but David escaped his presence twice a chapter ladder later same thing happens different occasion for Samuel 1910 then Saul saw the pen name to the wall of the spear, but he slipped away from Saul's presence and endure the spear in the wall for David would escape that line Saul try to kill David twice and there's less fear I think is probably same spear. Matter fact Saul later because he just carried the spear around everywhere for like the throat of somebody later.

First Samuel 2032, 33, Susan Jonathan his son answered Saul's father and said to him talk about David. Why should he be killed. What is he not then Saul cast the spear at him to sign the killing by which Jonathan knew that it was determined by his father kill David, you have learned care around spear to go through Midsummer and that's a overstress be doing as believers involved.

Some of us have sown the fine art of throwing spears at other people Jesus and put spirit that you follow me put the spear down part of David's training in the leadership was, not to learn how to throw spear to learn how not to throw spear is if you walk around spear friend. Sooner or later you go from a somebody you love to have put the spear down. The amazing thing is, David is refusing to use a weapon that Saul was willing to use against them now. What possible practical application. Could that have your get mad.

To some, I gossiped about ever gossip about anybody.

Matter fact when you hear somebody has said something about you. There is that moment when somebody is relaying this information Rego. It only a limited about the but if you do that you're guilty of the same crime and or something of integrity about David that he's not willing to do these will and to rise above it and I think long before David ever dealt with the Goliath. David dealt with the Giants in his own life of fear and insecurity, and running his mouth about other people and trying through spears of people killed the giant in his own life and when that happened, God started bringing Giants other Giants were in the kill to know and he had developed a real leader.

Verse 17 then Saul knew David's voice and said is that your voice, my son, David, and David said, it is my voice, my Lord. Okay, I remember Saul is David's father-in-law. Verse 18. He said why does my Lord, this pursue a servant for what have I done what evil is in my hand now therefore please let my lord the king hear the words of his servant, and the Lord stirred you up against me, let him accept an offer if I done wrong to make an offering is on the work but if it is the children of men, may they be cursed before the Lord, for they have driven me out this day from sharing in the inheritance of the Lord saying go serve other gods. One other thing is was really mom and David about he was bumming them out about all this was the fact that he can be in Israel, which was the land that God had given to them as an inheritance. Not only that, but he was having to run around. He couldn't be in those places of worship and it would appear from the statement that more than being in the desert more than runaround thing that really bothered is the fact that he could have fellowship with other people think and in is only the body to Mr. Shibata you friend, you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven. You can know right now own Legion. A short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now.
