Ever since the beginning of time have the coming of Jesus in life and for us back to the coming of Jesus Christ gathered around the NY banquet table working on together. Looking forward to you just heard a portion of the upcoming message titled, in remembrance of Pastor Abbott on shots of Clearview church in Henderson North Carolina I Clearview.

Our focus is on making Christ visible from the we worship the way we serve the way we love one another can check us out at 3485 Oxford Rd. in Anderson or visit us online@clearviewb.org join us this week that smells have a way of recovering our memory anybody here, you smell something all of a sudden take for me. It was as a little boy I would polish my dad's shoes for him. Every time I smell leather it takes me back to when I was five or 10 years of age polishing my dad's using this morning I'm talking about the final meal that Jesus celebrated with his disciples before he went to the cross.

How in the world cannot remember that if I wasn't there. I want you to hear me very carefully. If you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior and as your King you were there.

Let the Scripture jog your memory is only by faith that you can receive it in this morning as we get into this message. Let the word of God help you understand the real meaning of this communion. This Lord's supper.

If you have your Bibles with you turn to first Corinthians chapter 11 is very familiar passage starting in verse 23 and let's all stand once again for the reading of God's work first Corinthians chapter 11 starting in verse 23 Paul is writing these words to the Corinthian church. There were divisions in the body. People were angry with one another. And Paul is straightening them out. Listen to what he says in verse 23 fraud received from the Lord that which also delivered to use nothing on the screen and have to open your Bibles this morning that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, take, eat, this is my body which is broken for you and I want to say the with me if you have your Bibles with you. Do this in remembrance of me. Verse 25 in the same manner he also took the cup after supper, saying, this cup is the new covenant in my blood. This do as often as you drink it, and let's say together in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Were you there. If you're saved, you were by faith. You have to receive it. Are you saved.

You see, unless you receive Christ as your Savior and your King Christianity is just a religion.

Christianity is not just religion Christianity is God in us, Christ in us the hope of glory.

If there is one subject that Christians disagree over more than any other is communion is right there up there with baptism. I just think about the many words we have for communion ingestion English holy Communion where I grew up. We called it holy Communion church the Lord's supper. The Lord's table, the Eucharist depends on what tradition you come from the mass.

The sacrament of the altar. The Blessed Sacrament. The breaking of the bread the bread and the wine I mean the list is on and on. The reason there are so many differences between so many denominations and churches because in some ways we have misunderstood the real meaning and purpose of the bread and the cup and so what we've done is we have superimposed our ideas are culture our lack of understanding and we have reinterpreted what Jesus never meant, and neither did Paul do truly understand what this means you have to look at it and read it and understand it in its Jewish context. You see this meal that Jesus celebrated on the night before he was taken to be crucified was a Passover meal that some people think you know John says in his gospel. The Passover was the next day they go wait a minute so you know this must not be a Passover meal but if you read Matthew Mark and Luke. This was a Passover meal with a lot of John say what he said I want to hear me carefully. The Passover yes it was on a Friday. This was God's Passover lamb that was to be sacrificed on Friday, but the night before which was Thursday. Jesus chose
