Our website at Baptist Bible. Our.org and the Baptist Bible. Our podcast we continue today the message some things to pray for the text is Psalm 143 verse one hear my prayer, Lord, give ear to my supplications in thy faithfulness, answer me and in thy righteousness. We first looked at some of the things that we are praying for in the model prayer.

As Jesus was teaching his disciples to pray. But looking specifically at this Psalm that David wrote, we see a number of things that are important for us to include in our prayers. So we continue there today enumerating the various issues brought before us by the inspired next in verse seven he asked God to hear him speedily hear me speedily.

Oh Lord, my spirit had not five things from me, lest I be like those that go down into the pit not first sound a little presumptuous. Hear me speedily your company before the Almighty God of heaven.

The intercessor Jesus Christ should say hear me speedily, but this request doesn't indicate a lack of respect.

It's not is not a presumptuous attitude. It's an expression of the depth of the bird man feels Lord, my need is so great I can't wait I got have helped now hear me speak and that's something only time that expression is used in Psalm 69 verse 17. Psalm says in high not biface from thy servant, for I'm in trouble. Hear me speedily meant trouble to be heard now actually think when I was a young boy I was down Kentucky River with our family and several other friends were there swimming and one man let out this horrible streak help help I'm drowning.

Leslie was going to gather this kind of cut up and some of them thought he just pretend he just just cut up well.

I was standing there, close enough to get a good view. I could tell by the look on his face. He won having fun and was a small child how to do the pain of watching that situation was tremendous and I began hearts and people too much larger man in Iraq could not help no way I could and finally realized that his cry was genuine. He was trying it was able to extend a pole to them that he was able to grab on to and they pulled the man that Taylor managed drowning. Help me speedily. No time for discussion about whether this is genuine or not. Time to decide whether I feel comfortable with that. You either saving their God. Basically that's what the psalmist is saying I'm I'm I'm in trouble?

Presumption it was an acknowledgment God is ready to hear: I'm pleading with you to hear me speedily. Psalm 46 verse one says God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. Not one of the distance is present help. So you need help now.

You need help today: hear me speedily. Obviously there can be some time when it is a matter presumption instead of it being an indication of need that total dependence upon the Lord that I want what I want when I want God I don't hear that kind of request to acknowledge him as being a very present help in time of trouble is appropriate. See an example in Scripture, not only of the woman that went to the unjust judge, but the man who came to his neighbor at midnight and said let me three loaves man inside the house is darting on the man nor multiple clones. The children are all in bed but I got have now not looking for help in the morning.

I've got a friend that's coming from a distance generated.

They defeat him and I need help now. Finding the answer is that he arose and gave him what he requested. Once again, because of his important because it would give up time we give passage we read earlier about the parable Jesus is the purpose of it is that man ought always to pray and not to faint not to think it was a cry of desperation hi I need help needed now in the book of Matthew chapter 8 verse 24, it says, and there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with way but he that is Jesus was asleep and his disciples came to him and awoke saying, Lord, save us. Are we perish. We are in deep trouble that way. He was already lashing overboard.

Went back to go down, Lord save us or we perish.

This is one of the crucial need. We need help and we need now and then at a later time. Matthew 14 verse 30 Peter had seen Jesus walking on the water exit Lord let me come to stepped out of the boat and how far he cocked the step two, perhaps, and it looks down and sees those angry waves lashing about in and he starts to sing so Matthew 1430 says that when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid and began to sing and he cried, saying, Lord, save me Peter didn't have time for a lot of the fancy introductions of people sometimes try to interject into prayers. He had one need one request and he needed now, Lord say I'm about to drown on need help and I needed now then verse eight calls lead to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning for in the do I trust the Lord does hide his face that occurs, we lose that sense of his lovingkindness, but that which can bring the greatest peace and the greatest joy is once again to regain a sense of his love. We read of it in his word. We have assurance 11 in his province will surely report because McKay hear thy lovingkindness in the morning. The brightness of the new day and basil up lifting and it is a bright morning a happy day when we hear of his lovingkindness.

He speaks to us in many ways to convey that to us. Psalmist says weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning because Lord to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning. Sometimes troubles can seem to be particularly difficult at night are just a lot of uncertainties about darkness and nighttime the morning, the sun is shining the birds are singing. It's a new bright day surely that depicts what were talking about what the psalmist has in view here says I want to hear lovingkindness in the morning then also verse eight we see that it's a prayer for divine guidance, causing me to know the way where he and I should walk in verse 10 closely connected with it. Teach me to do thy will, for thou art my not asking for the easiest path the most pleasant way just to know the Right Way, Lord, what way would you happen to go calls me to know the way where in I should just as he brings us comfort sent brings us a sense of his lovingkindness in the morning through his word and through his providences brings us an understanding of how we should go first of all, through his word that's given his motive on authority under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and sometimes to competence that we hope to move in a certain direction that doors close and it becomes evident that another way must be taken have to be careful when making those judgments it were not just jumping on to some conclusion because our personal preference, but make it always sincere prayer Lord calls me to know the way. I should stew that he doesn't just say that I want to know something but teach me to do thy will, for thou art my it's a humble prayer Lord, teach me teach me to do your will. Not my not, but maybe popularly accepted today. Not what other people what would you do teach me to do your will is that your desire is that your prayer when you come before the Lord do you lay out the path that you prefer to travel and say well we do not let me walk this path, we did not bless me in it. May it be our prayer.

Teach me to do your will. It's a prayer of sincere desire because he says teach me to do your will, not just know it. You might know a lot about the Bible you might have a lot of information but has never applied its meetings teach me to do your will. I want to apply. We know that it's God who worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. So if you're looking to him, praying for him to give you not only wisdom and guidance but give you strength and grace current to the blessing of the Holy Spirit in order to do his will. The inclination of human nature is what I have my way. I won't do what pleases me. That will seen early on and little children are born with and never totally outgrow it because even when we get up in years is that part of our human nature that's resistant to being submissive.

We want to do our own thing. Psalmist prayed Lord, I want to know your will and I pray that you will teach me to do God's will should be done completely, not just in partial increments, not just selecting those parts that we feel are not burdensome, not in conflict with what we want to do but to be done completely to be done without delay time – somebody about their plans serving God.

Well, I've got a few things cleared up first that some of the things get in order plan on doing that later on. Jesus never gave people that option.

But he said, take up your cross and follow me intended for the following. Remember, there were those of again to make excuse and one man says let me go back and bury my father first, is it at the back and wait till he died.

Then participate in the burial. Later on Jesus as no if you want to be my disciple to leave everything else mine and follow me. And this is true concerning the cost there a lot of people that know the basic truth of the gospel.

They know a man to repent of their sin.

That's a biblical teaching. They know that they don't believe in Jesus Christ and they will admit that's the gospel message believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and not Be safe to have not only are you to believe that the doctrine of repentance you to repent to repent starts with the change of mind, change your mind about God saying that he is absolutely holy and is just any right in demanding perfection because withholding care change a lot about yourself to see that your center you violated his law you unworthy of anything you can't plead any merit on your part in your mind about how this salvation is to be accomplished.

It's not going to be my Reformation on the not by human works and effort grace, not just the knowledge stand not even just acknowledging the facts of the gospel, but repenting and believing and verse 10 reveals his trust in God, thou art my God, thy spirit is good lead me into the land of up right, my God, it's wonderful to be able to say can you say that today how comforting say I believe the God who created heaven and earth, the God who sustains today the God who gives you the very breath that you bury is your God without him there's terrible emptiness and hopelessness of the future person doesn't know God. Death is a dreadful thing. The coming of Jesus Christ. His second coming is a dreadful thing because his coming with flaming fire taking vengeance on those that know not God and obey not the gospel but for those knowing for those who can say how art my God, it's going to be the most glorious event that could ever be imagined and then we see a desire for God's glory.

In verse 11.

Quicken me Lord for my namesake for my righteousness sake bring my soul out of trouble. Quicken me that is enlivened. My so my soul is been in trouble. I been sinking in the mire. Lord awaken latent greater zeal we sang the song a while ago revived this again and is that not the psalmist are saying and should that not be a continuous prayer Lord Quicken me enlivened me wake me up.

I don't want to just be going to a routine of tending to serve. I want to be zealously serving you and he says that the basis of this play is for by namesake and have nothing else on which to base our requests. This is a desire for God's name to be on the front line namesake Lord, awaken me, not just so I can impress somebody else about the degree of mind, zeal for the findings being awakened, being filled with holy zeal may serve to your honor and glory to the prayers of your name. That should be our desire in every prayer we pray for by namesake Lord bless me to be more diligent and follow serving Leslie to know not willing to do thy will and maybe namesake. Bless this church to move forward in a positive way. It may have been formed by namesake that his name be praised. So we see some things to pray about just going to the saw can't help but be impressed with the number thing that the psalmist brings before the Lord and in the depths of sincerity, praying Lord, hear me speak to make it happen and make your name be glorified in him and in the things we have considered in some 143 about prayer will stir all of our minds and hearts to be more diligent in seeking the Lord will help desperately needing the fully aware of our weakness and unworthiness.

We know the prayer is vital in our lives everyday pray without ceasing the purchase price. So, architects changes, hear my prayer.

Oh Lord give you my supplications in thy faithfulness answer me in time open. Take time to write us this week until next week. At the same time.
