Jericho conquered.

This is from the book of Joshua chapter 6, beginning with the first verse we see here a sure promise and then a faithful obedience on the part of God's people finally a great victory will and will will and in and in and in will and be in an and he will and will be will and free petition on earth. What's the purpose was to happen next March around one day you may have breathed a sigh of relief. At least they got back to the camp and I march around the city and will these trumpets must've an eerie sound constantly trumpets blowing the trumpets. What about us page 2 lately to go back to the march around the city. My friend is blowing the trumpets blowing trumpets will trumpets come back for basics. Keep showing up every day and even among his rights.

There may have been some question not only among those who thought the plan to start with was rather strange in any appropriate but at this point they could be saying this is a bad plan. We marched around the city for six days and are not even a crack in the wall. Why would this getting nowhere fast.

Well, the reason for doing this is this is one of the game from the march around the city. It may not seem like a good plan.

You may not seem like a workable plan but it is the best plan because it comes from the Lord and we need to keep when it comes to the way we serve God today so easy to be influenced by the work well partly doing this plan seems to be so basic. I think productive be complex. I think we have to worry about weight. We want them to feel comfortable that we need to work out a plan to make that happen, but we are authorized to follow one plan connects God plan has given us in his inspired work first sends an armed man went for the priest that blew with the trumpets and the rear board team are the priests going on blowing the trumpets repeated here over the priest going on and blowing trumpets. Now only to March March in order. There was a place designated for the priest for the armed man for the people and say okay everybody get rid of Friday's marks.

This falling where we want to just march around the city.

This plan that was preached going forward. The trumpets are the reward coming place designated according to what was going to be the ultimate success in seeing the walls come down first with his 14 verse 33 says for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints was no confusion here was not disorganize group. Just going out going in any direction that they might please. It was orderly procession as they went around the wall, every man in his place, each one recognizing I have a place to feel I've got a role here and I want to be in my place at the right time, and certainly that presents a picture for us in the Lord's church is not the author of confusion. He has a structure in place and each member needs to be in his or her place realizing I'm not just here to occupy.

Next that's the first step, but I want to be active and zealous. I want to be a part one, I want to be ministering to others that want to be growing in grace.

I want to feel my then. Furthermore, we note that the park was in its appointed place that are represented the Lord himself. This is the Ark of the covenant. It was sacred thing always, representing the presence of the Lord when they were crossing the river Jordan. You remember that the priests had to go out in the middle of the river and stand there with the ark of the covenant holding it in place as the people crossed and they had to stay there and you can imagine, it took some time well over a million people cross the river to stand there patiently with the water insight towing that if it came forward on them but they were trusting God and the fact that they were so Ark of the covenant was symbolic of the fact that they were depending upon the presence of the Lord to protect them and sustain them so that they could all come successfully across the river so that was made the center of interest Still the same as I come here to conquer Jericho art is the center. This indicates to me that that principle seen throughout Scripture that the more it is to be the center of our life.

I focus must be upon him. Yes, there were other things transpiring.

There were people who were involved with the focus had to be on the ark. Here is the presence of God with us.

The Lord's presence was absolutely vital for the victory marks day after day after day in March to late drop from exhaustion and there would've been nothing happened without the presence of the Lord. We can work and labor go through the motions but the Lord is not present. Our labors are in vain. Park is mentioned 16 times in chapters 3 through five and here in this section of chapter 6 from verses 6 to 13.

It is mentioned nine time so there is tremendous focus put up on the book of the covenant, knowing it was vital recognizing symbolizing the presence of this should be a reminder to us. We are not going to win any battle, no matter what it is your battle against the flesh, your battle against the world. Your battle against any temptation, you're not going to win it in your own strength. It requires the presence of yes was a place of focus and they carried as they marched around and that we note that it was a daily thing marks every day wasn't left to somebody to say well I don't think that's necessary. I think I stay home I got a headache. I think I'll go to I don't know marched on a daily basis and true Christianity has to believe that on a daily basis. It's important that we come to church to worship him and to sing praises to his name, but what happens on Monday. What happens on Tuesday. What happens the rest of the week needs to be daily prayer daily time to be spent in the word of God. God uses the preaching of the word, but also you need in your heart that you might not sin against him as work told in Psalm 119 and that means that there is something to be done on a daily basis.

That was patient's required is there waiting for victory. What would point out that there was a delay might've at least been considered the labor the people. It wasn't as far as God was concerned because God was leading them step-by-step way would have go but there was a delay as far as any immediate effort to go toward Jericho. They were Nearby but one of the things of the late they had to institute once again circumcision they had to observe the packs over and so some of them I thought we'd move on, but I could not move until these requirements were met and then is there marching felt just sitting somewhere where losing time conquer Canaan.

This just one city and we need to be getting on with it. So there was patient's required. Sometimes that's one of the biggest challenges we face is learning to have patience not to be indifferent, but learning when the more arranged things in such a way that we need to wait on that we learn to wait wait on the mark and then self-control was require because they were told not to speak first hand and Joshua had commanded the people, saying he shall not shout nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until I beat you shout in Jackie shop. The debate about go away saying I wonder what you really mean we couldn't talk at all been interpleader.

You shall not make any noise with your voice that people read description of the likes of them is that when you think it really means that, don't you think you got to be some exceptions that we look at it in a different light. And then if that was not enough, he says, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth. Make no noise with invoice don't speak a word that means be quiet. Imagine it was difficult for something. Some people talk a lot. I don't do very well when it comes to listening, but they do real well when it comes to talking on and on. So you can imagine one of these talkers marching comes to mind.

The excitement they remember shop is time to speak and was a time to be second never went to Duke, which they often are speaking should be silent and silent when they should be speaking we need to pray that God will give us wisdom that we know when the speed speak should speak that it may be to the glory and honor of his then we see there was emphasis on the seventh day, the number seven is emphasized.

There were seven priests seven trumpets seven days of marching and seven times on the seventh day, we see that throughout Scripture, God created the heaven and earth, and he rested on the seventh day New Testament feast of unleavened bread, and the feast of the boots. Both were 47 day of the book of Revelation you find seven seals, seven angels seven trumpets seven planes 7:5. So it is evident that the number seven is a significant number through out Scripture. It speaks of completeness of perfection and so people were March, seven days and seven times on the seventh day, which indicated complete obedience and that's what the Lord requires of us.

We like to figure out some way to excuse ourselves. Yes I am willing to do something, but I do work too much to be expected of me.

But you know the apostle Paul wrote in this vein, I want you to be involved in every good work. It always standard the top. I don't want to just the work, typically involving so the Lord expects of us complete obedience even though they may have thought that nothing was being accomplished on day one day to day three. This is all part of what was necessary to get to the seventh time of the seventh day so even though they might've been discouraged. It was crucial that they continued to March that you may sometimes get discouraged in your effort to serve the Lord say I marching playing at reading God's word and trying to minister to other people, but it seems like I'm not making much progress. I feel like giving up. Galatians chapter 6 verse nine says and let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good to all men, especially under them who are of the household of faith. And then we see a great victory. Verse 13 and seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually. So I keep coming back to this man were marching and blowing trumpets were not exaggerating it would describe the same emphasis on it that we find here in the text and they blew the trumpets and the Army and went before them with the rear warden came after the ark of the Lord, the priest going on. And guess what with the trumpets so they are going on their way there marching around the wall and there continually blowing the trumpets respecting at the second day they compassed the city wants and returned to the camp so they did six days 15 and it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early about the dawning of the day. That's another thing you find this portion of Scripture Joshua so often was getting up early in the morning the people getting up early in the morning they were about their tasks.

They work slothful.

They want postponing it and said let's go on and get done what needs to be done today so they rose early and they came at the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner. Seven times and it came to pass at the seventh time of the priest blew the trumpets Joshua center the people set out for the Lord hath given you the city.

Verse 20 so the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets and became the past for the people heard the sound of the chocolate, the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat so the people went up into the city. Every man straight before him and make the city with the wall flat on the ground. It was easy to get, but they had to wait till they did what God required, and God brought down the wall. He didn't just open the little place and we get in the whole wall down flat to the ground say there was a time to shower, but only if the given signal that when they shouted God brought down, it was evident then that this was not something brought about by military strength by somebody's unique plant and ingenuity. This was brought about because God was in charge.

The people listen to his command.

They found that they obeyed and God brought down the wall and God receive God gives victory gives complete city was set up so that no one can enter now it says that they went straight away in the city. No obstacle in the past, nothing to hold them back. Now it's easy for them to proceed.

Sometimes we may try to enter into a situation we may have a desire to serve a particular fasting desire to make some particular change in our life and there's an obstacle is apparent. There's a wall in the way and if we try to get out the battering ram to knock down the wall. We only complicate things.

But if we walk in obedience and wait on the Lord, and he brings down the barrier he brings down the wall in our path we are able to move too many times somebody trying to knock the wall down with the should be marching. We need to pray for wisdom to make the right application of God's truth in our lives. Furthermore, we observe that it was by faith that the victory was one Hebrews chapter 11 verse 30 says by faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were compassed about seven. We face the wall cities in our life the world the flesh and the devil. We can overcome by faith, not in the interview, the flesh, not by sheer willpower, determination by faith by trusting God by depending upon the first time. Chapter 5 verse four for whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world many times as a child of God will stumble and fall, but the general tenor of his life is toward godliness whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith, who is he that overcomes the world. But he that believe that Jesus is the son of where you today are you facing an enemy you obstacle in your path that stands there like a walled city. Are you impatient, wanting to move on but the fact is, the signal hasn't been given. There's no evidence of the unfolding of divine providence that you want to move for you weary of marching reminder today that the walls of Jericho came down because they trusted the promises of God, and they followed God's plan. One only influences that invaded your life.

Remember these words from first John, faith is the victory is by faith that you overcome the world is by faith that you overcome the weakness of the flesh, the temptations and so usually the section in the overcome her is the one who is a believer in Jesus Christ. Have you believed who is he that overcomes the world. But he that believe that Jesus is the son of God Jesus is the Savior centers.

The only way the truth and the life and the there. All of us remember that declaration that faith is the victory that overcomes the world surely will often have to say is that the man who was asking Jesus to heal his son.
