Christ’s Amazing Love - Part 2 of 2

Today's edition of the Baptist Bible with severe Bradley Junior, I'm Thomas Mann inviting you to stay tuned for another message from God's will and and I'm glad you could join us for today's edition of the Baptist Bible. Our desire Bradley Junior today continues a message from the Gospel of John.

The text is John chapter 15 as the father have loved me, so have I loved you continue ye in my love. If you keep my commandments you shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my father's commandments and abide in his love the connections that Jesus is making between the father's love for the son sons for the father he transfers to Jesus love for his disciples and his disciples love for him and solicitors been looking at this and where we join the message today. He's been talking about the fact that the disciples of Jesus not only loved by him, but they in turn love him and the question, what does that look like so here's part two.

The message entitled, Christ's amazing love first John chapter 4 verse 19 says we love him because he first loved us. John 14 the 15th verse Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments talk called a lot about how much you love Jesus you saying all the hams and talk about loving Jesus, you can sing them enthusiastically. Oh how I love Jesus saying all the verses sound like you mean it, but you know are the proof is that you will blame to obey his commandments. If you love me, keep my verse 21 he that hath my commandments and keeps them, he it is that love me and he that loveth me shall be loved of my father and I will love him and will manifest myself to him. In verse 23 Jesus answered and said in him. If a man love me, he will keep my words. This is a possibility.

This is something that just talk to me this is a fact if you love me you will keep my words and my father will love him and we will come in to him and make our abode with him.

True disciples love Jesus, how much you love how much is that love displayed in your life on a daily basis not just a matter of one day a week proposition.

I love them enough to go to church on Sunday how much you love them on Monday you love them enough to spend time in his word so you can learn what he had to say instruction he has for you, beloved enough to be kind and gracious, even under difficult circumstances.

We love them enough to obey his command that you are to forgive one another. 11 displayed by keeping his commandments and then he commands his disciples to love each other.

Verse 12 of our text says this is my commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you.

That's a tall order. Same kind of love that the father had put this on the son has for the disciples and the disciples are to have for each other. John 13 verse 34 Jesus speaking again a new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another. This is a mark of discipleship that there is love abounds.

As it happened in the Lord just tell us well love each other as though I can punch a button if somebody I don't really like very much. Often I'm supposed to love. Here's an enemy that I'm even supposed to love how can you can't say were not talking about just some kind of warm fuzzy feeling were not talking about an emotional response. This love has to do with action, not just how you feel at the moment.

How did Jesus demonstrate his love by laying down his life by going to the cross. How do you love others you display love even when the emotional aspect of it may not be cooperating but you continue to display kindness, graciousness, maintain a forgiving spirit.

Now the time we look at a number. These verses, you may begin to react and say I think your overdoing this little bit quiet why so much emphasis on this once while somebody will say after preacher preaches on a particular theme. I heard that before that some you preach a lot of times as though you know what's gone before all be enough. Let's not stay on the same theme, but usually this is this is not something that I just decided I would like to emphasize this is Jesus himself. This is Jesus going over and over and over again. And then John, who recorded the gospel from which our picture taken, writes in his epistle and takes up the same theme once again. Let's look at first John chapter 2 verse nine he that saith he is in the light and pain with his brother is in darkness, even until now. He that loveth his brother abide it in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him but he that his brother is in darkness and walked in darkness and know not whether he go with because that darkness hath blinded his eye. Chapter 3 verse 10 in this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil who so ever do is not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother Don under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit makes it so strong is it if you don't love your brother you, not of God, you made read your Bible, you may go to church regularly.

You may have deep knowledge about some of the doctrines of Scripture.

But if you don't love your brother, you don't know God. Verse 14, we know that we have passed from death onto life because we love the brethren.

He that loveth not his brother abide if in death. Whosoever hated his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him, hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. There was a real test of love. We may never face a situation where our brothers are being persecuted, to the extent that they are facing death.

We may never encounter that is that I don't think I could possibly have the courage to lay down my life for my brother if if such an opportunity gave itself but if that's held out as the ultimate demonstration of love, not just our day to day interaction with each other. Are we willing to be inconvenienced for our brother. Are we willing to go the extra mile to make things right. Are we willing to continue to work at problems when problems exist.

Are we willing to step aside as far as our personal interest or concern to maintain that kind of love chapter 4 tells us in verse seven. Beloved, let us love one another for lovers of God in everyone that loveth is born of God, and know what God he that loveth not know what not God, for God is love.

Verse 25 and say I love God, and hated his brother, he is a liar, for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen chapter 5 verse one, whosoever believe that Jesus is the Christ is born of God and everyone that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him so you not only love the Lord your his family you love others who are begotten of him. Others who have been born of the spirit that means there's no place for bitterness, no place for gossip and try to tear somebody else down attempting to harm them there is to be love quality.

This love is great. Obviously the highest standard is set when he says that you love your brother you will and laid on your life for, and then in Ephesians chapter 2 see this is this is a subject that Jesus dealt with extensively and the apostles as they are writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit continue to bring it before the churches. Ephesians chapter 5 verse two says and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. Once again, his sacrificial death is set before us as being the crowning example of how great this love all be our next, we observed that this amazing love of Christ with such he love them and giving them joy says I would give you my joy is a difference between the joy that Jesus was asked this real, lasting joy, and the momentary happiness that we may have dependent totally on circumstance. Jesus said in John 434. My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Jesus says this this is my joy that this is what life is all about for me to do his will. The 40 Psalm dates versus as I delight to do if I will owe God and this seems to be the reference it.

Jesus is making when he speaks of his life doing the father's will. Hebrews chapter 12 verse two says, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and a set down on the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus look to the cross. Yes, from a human standpoint on this. It was a grand is his sweat became as great drops of blood and he prayed if if possible let this cup pass from me, but on the other hand, he was able to look ahead and he saw the grand result of his sacrificial death. Isaiah had prophesied in that regard.

In the 53rd chapter, and says that he saw all the travail of his soul was satisfied.

So at this juncture for joy that was set before him. He endured the cross.

Point being the kind of joy that Jesus is giving to his people is not depending on all your circumstances. Being pleasant everything falling out in a way that is totally satisfying to you this joy is deep. This joy is real. Jesus experienced it, even in the depths of suffering that's reason behind James writing in the first chapter of his epistle in verses 1 to 4 nuisance counted all joy when you fall into divers temptations.

How can you count joy when you're in the midst of suffering because this joy is that which is given us of Jesus Christ. Now he taught them the things that will enable us to rejoice, says things and I spoke and then you are, that your joy might be full.

But although that joy is the fruit of the spirit and he gives it to us.

It can be temporarily disrupted. It certainly was disrupted in David's life when he sends so greatly enjoyed prayed in Psalm 51 verse 12 restore unto me the joy of thy salvation. You can expect to have the joy of the Lord when you're walking in disobedience when you're ignoring his command, which are rebelling against him.

You're doing your own thing you try to defend your resentment, your anger, your bitterness, you try to defend making your own choices going your own way, doing what you plead you can expect that joy joy comes by abiding in Christ. Joy comes as you have deep fellowship with him. We see it disruptive in the case of Peter when he denied the Lord. Luke 2262 says that he went out and wept bitterly. Yes, he knew he had done terribly wrong. He had denied the Savior that he professed to love and so for that time. Joy disappeared. It can be broken by sin by unbelief, by any disobedience, but joy should abound is what Jesus is promising.

I want you to have joy this this is a part of his love. I love you so much that I want you to be joyful, and so if you're not experiencing joy.

There is a problem is not on the Lord's part because he says I'm giving you my joy� This emotional thing that gives you a momentary pickup. I'm giving it my joy, the joy that comes by submission to the heavenly father the joy that comes by dependence upon him in the book of first John chapter 1 verse three he says that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us and truly our fellowship is with the father and with his son Jesus Christ, and these things right. We unto you, that your joy may be full to all the Scriptures you've already read some book 1st John about loving one another are connected with what he said in the beginning of the epistle I'm writing these things, that your joy may be full. So if you're not abiding in Christ.

If you're not showing love those back to even to your enemies, he said, love, love your enemies. I love them doesn't mean you could have close association with somebody that you feel is on the wrong path.

But even if you consider them to be an enemy you're going to pray for the going price for their goods and their welfare, that God by his grace and intervention may bring about a change in their life you love them by giving them joy.

Paul and Silas experience this joy.

They were in the Philippian jail for that one where they plan to be paid on the Philippi wanting to minister but now they're arrested and put in prison.

How would I would you feel if you thought the Lord and change on a mission than Wanda in jail and set them up, preaching and visiting among people. We could minister to the window updated they saying saying and he prays to God, and of course the Lord blessed that the jailer heard that testimony among the great earthquake came he came in and fell down and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved. This always thought that was such a unique story to think that they put these men in prison and by morning they baptized the jailer so God is able to make the wrath of my underpricing. He's able to work. The fact that they were in prison didn't hinder the Holy Spirit from carrying out his design and moving upon the heart of the jailer we sometimes are down, we sometimes are discontent this feel that nothing is going right in life, but it's because we have not turned to the Lord is our source of joy.

We let our personal frustrations are disappointments. The fact that we don't get everything we want.

The fact that we don't have our way. Let that get us down. But there's joy perpetually to be found in the Lord.

Philippians 44 rejoice always in the Lord. And again I say rejoice. He's the source he's the one in whom we rejoice a week, take heed the things Jesus teaches in this chapter he said he has spoken to us, those things that are necessary that our joy may be full so if we want this joy. We got to seek God's light got to come to his word. We got to repent of the wrong attitude send the wrong spirit that we had the misplaced priority and then finally he love them as friend, as friends. Verse 14 you're my friends if you do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants for the servant knows not what is Lord do with what I called you friends for all things that I've heard of my father made known to you. These that he calls friends were one time his enemies he called to his friend today you will want to send me because by nature, you were alienated from God. You are seeking God you hated the restrictions that his law imposed upon you, but by grace. Those that were enemies are made friend.

He died to change all he died for those that were his enemies, and they became his friend now as friends. He said I don't treat you as a servant.

The servant normally doesn't know what the master doing master doesn't share all the details of his plan. All that is doing with the servant but he does with his friend so as friends. He tells them all that he has heard from the father. All of the father has revealed to him like he has made known to them real friendship involves confiding in another person. What is important and what is special to you.

Sometimes people will complain like this don't have many friends of the Scripture say he that hath friends must show himself friendly. If you never opened up to anybody in share with them some of your deepest thoughts you not asking for friendship, people converse with you and how are things going you say fine at the end of conversation say anything special happen real well known nothing right now can't very well develop a friendship is not more communication. Jesus is because your friend. I'm telling you everything.

The fathers revealed to me. He taught his disciples and now through the Scriptures. He teaches us he gives us the things are made known to him by the father and enables us to have an understanding of them by the blessing of the Holy Spirit. Paul writes in the Corinthian letter and send the neck from anguishing, but not the things of the spirit of God, neither can he know them, because they're spiritually dessert, one who was still an enemy of God alienated from God dead in trespasses and sins not going understand that which is of the spirit of your one who is his friend he calls you, his friend.

He has included you in his family. You been born of the Holy Spirit.

Christ is in you the hope of glory. Now you can go to the Scripture, you must apply yourself in the study of and not that you don't clearly understand every expression that many things it require the study and much prayer, but you go there and you have an understanding of the things that he has really and then he says in verse 14 that his true friends want to please him by obeying that's how we can determine if indeed where one of his friends is that our strong desire is that our utmost concern that I want to please him by obeying him failure to obey is a great sin is rebellion in the book of first Samuel chapter 15 verse 22. This is after Saul had failed to carry out the specific commandments of the Lord. Samuel said, hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord. Here he brings back the various animals that he had taken in conquest. It allows one to make a sacrifice to the Lord. The prophet says is that really what God wants is not going to be pleased with these sacrifices the whole tool but IE is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of RAM to obey God to do explicitly what he said you make all kinds of outward sacrifices and be involved in all kinds of religious activities. But if you're not submissive if you're not obeying. If you're not doing what he says. It's all going forward.

Megan is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because ours rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected the from being king bed is as the sin of witchcraft, stubbornness is as idolatry. The friends of Jesus must not only love him but love each other. They must love his friends. Do you love the friends of Jesus, not just the ones that see everything just like you see it, not just the ones that carry the same denominational banner but love all the friends of Jesus. I would pray for grace to love him more and love all of his friends surely amazed that Jesus Christ would love his disciples love his people love his friends as much as the father loved him with a perfect love. If you see your self today is a center who has lived in disobedience and rebellion to God. You can find hope in learning that Jesus Christ died for sinners is what he came for and so in spite of the fact you see yourself as a great center there is hope because he came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. And he says him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out so low you have been numbered among his enemies as a fallen center of faith, you can come to him and in him there is grace for the chiefest of sinners.
