In the shooting sure writer Junior welcoming you to another broadcast of the Baptist Bible today were continuing with a message from our series on the Gospel of John, Gospel of John is such a marvelous portion of God's word elevates the name of Jesus Christ in describing his ministry on earth is prayer to the father and his ultimate sacrifice at the cross. If you would like to get today's message on CD requests that when writing us at the Baptist Bible. Our box 17 oh 37, Cincinnati, OH 45217 in all day. See all in the a C will be be in me and secondly, we want to think about the means by which it is accomplished by his word, we become increasingly separated from the world if the word sanctification means to be set apart in their pro rata voice in which this occurs.

And Jesus said to my people are not of this world and as a as the world has hated me that I hate you then part of the sanctification process is that you are moving steadily away from the world and its thinking and its influence back in John chapter 15 of the third verse.

Jesus had.

Now he cleans of the word which I have spoken unto you, he said further in chapter 17.

I have given you my word, and the then in the text we have read, sanctify them through thy word by word is true. How's the sanctification can take place.

It's not something mysterious, or you go to bed one night and say your prayer before you drift off to sleep and then you wake up the next morning the mother's transformation. You have no interest in new desire to know God uses his word.

It is through his inspired word that this progressive sanctification process is going to Take Pl. in Romans chapter 12 verse two were admonished not to be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and perfect and acceptable will of God. How you going to prove that all people get terribly confused on this issue. The medicine lab have made a decision to take this course of action. I'm confident the right thing.

How do you know that when I just I just file. I just feel it's the right thing.

I just believe this is what works for me and maybe something that is in direct contradiction to what the teaching of Scripture stands to say I feel I feel good about.

Well it is a fact that when we do what we want to do.

We generally feel good about having our own way. She little children all take sometimes to pass the time. Just let them have their own way. That's why they thought Santa Monica.

I just want to have my way and some to let them have their way.

They think that witnessing a quick cry echoed that way and could go to get big big kids "get to be people and same situation occurs somebody Frank somebody Pat somebody's man was the problem. I didn't get my way. But when I get my way though and I will feel real good about the text, not a matter of how you feel about even. Sometimes people will try to anoint it with prayer observed over this before, but few years ago, local radio listener came to ask for biblical counsel and the process of discussing why this man was having such a struggling not able to have any peace discover that his girlfriend were living together without the benefit of marriage. So you say that your Christian your following price is no wonder that you have no peace because you're living in sin, but he says pretty good. Don't understand there are financial implications if we got married. It would be a real financial setback for us and so we just took that to the Lord and prayed and he said it's okay in your case, I said anything is cry over till the Lord comes back.

And fornication is not going to be made right by go so you might say I prayed over if it's not biblically sound its deal wrong uses the word check to make chapter 3 verses 16 to 17 tell us that all Scripture is given the inspiration of God as possible for what's a correction, for instruction in righteousness. The man of God may be thoroughly furnished and all that work to correct this. It will instruct us is going to give us the information of the guidance that we need truth separates from evil error leads to evil.

Sanctify them through thy truth, I word my word is truth.

If you're reading after the philosophers of many of the philosophies of men.

If you're reading after those who recognize God or the authority of his word. What you read may be intriguing, and it might suit you to obtain as far as what you want to hear but it's only the truth of God that will lead you in the right path separating from evil, but where it comes from its under the guise of a religious Obama that somehow would seem to justify if it if it's not truth of its effect error it will lead you in the wrong direction person who is set apart to God and for his purposes will want to do only what God wants them to do and will hate what God wants them to hate, not a matter of you just making your own choices saying I just can't bring myself to take some of the things that God hates.

But if you don't honor him. He got up have your mind renewed so that your thinking like he thinks and embracing what is in his word by embracing his word.

Then we walk in the truth now this really is a powerful statement. If you stop and think about their authority in some churches and some denominations today is not the word of God. It ultimately is based on the consensus of the majority opinion. Whatever the majority of the people that belong to that denomination. Whatever the majority of the preachers who may be the leaders and those who lend the influence of the decisions are made What the Bible says but we have come to the conclusion this is what we think is best. This is the route that we are taking now. She may be to look around elsewhere so I can sure see some examples of that.

I've got family members or friends at the substance at the church and this appalled some of the things they believe some of the things they do some the things they practice and it's easy to see it somewhere else, but I don't have the opportunity to preach any of those people is preaching to you that are present. So let's apply in our own life and in our own church. Other issues sometimes that are settled not directly by Scripture but by the consensus of the majority. We sometimes look around to other sister churches unstable.

What will they think and what is their opinion and how will they react fellowship can be a great blessing, but it can be a great hindrance. If there's going to be respect for tradition and for consensus more than there is the word of God directly dictates God's word is to be our guide. Popular opinion today replaces sound doctrine in so many areas, thinking that prevalent among multitudes even in some professional Christian churches is that man really is basically all that bad criticizes, which is what you're doing Total depravity.

That's depressing that puts people down of the fact is, it is a Bible doctrine, that man is a sinner is no righteousness in human he turns to his own way he's going the wrong direction but people like this feel good concept basically man's good to little correction here. There is little improvement in his personality, but perish the idea that somebody waltzed not know what is waltzed right is finally wind up in heaven someday belief in Jesus is not necessary for salvation.

A lot of different ideas like different concepts. 1 Texas Rd. and another takes another rope. It's all going to the same place I stopped the doctrine Jesus talked Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life. Not one of many ways I am the way, I am the only way Jesus prays here sanctify them through thy truth by word is truth. We see them the means by which the sanctification the progressive aspect of it is companies. So what is the purpose in view of the God's children may live a holy life. Matthew chapter 5 verse 14. This is part of the sermon on the Mount, the words of Jesus. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be.

Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven examine yourself for a few moments.

What will people say if they look carefully at your life when they observed that there is a light shining that there is a godly walk that there is a compassionate spirit that there is an abundance of love that there's an interest in ministering to others or is there a great deal of selfishness and pride is let your light so shine, that they may see your good works coming at you on the plane works before man that you might boast about what you've done, but as you probably follow the Lord and serve him, it will be evident that there are good works done and the purpose of it is that you may glorify your father which is in heaven. You are to live, then an honorable godly life, not giving way to the lust of the flesh, not giving you the influences of the world. Glorify your father which is in heaven. Secondly, the purpose in view is Jesus says not only that these may be sanctified that they maybe cleanse but he further says, as thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them in the word Christ was sent into the world to bring glory to the father. He continually said I came not to do mine own will but the will of him that sent me.

I my father one the words that I speak the father gave them to me. I must be about my father's business. Everything that he did was to bring honor to the father. Now we as Jesus was sent to the world.

Glorify the father. We are sent into the world to glorify Jesus Christ, which ultimately also brings glory to the father of Christ himself was the light of the world and we just read here in the sermon on the mount that we too are to be lights.

Let's look at it more specifically in the book of Philippians chapter 2 reading of the 12 verse wherefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God which worketh in you both are willing to do of his good pleasure. The apostle brings these two principles together. You work out your own salvation. You are to be pressing toward the mark. The part of the high calling in Christ Jesus you are to be laboring in a way that will bring honor to his name, but it's not as though you're doing it in an oven by yourself. It is God who works in you both are willing to do of his good pleasure to all things without murmuring and disputing that you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation about what you shine as lights will be a vivid contrast the difference between you who are sanctified, you who are saints and those who are living according to the standards of this ungodly world holding forth the word of life that you may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain. Neither labored was not only a matter of living a godly life, but you're holding forth the word of life.

We are witnesses and you say that you hold forth the word of life that you and your conversation with others, you are ready to point somebody to the truth of God that you are to get the testimony concerning Jesus Christ as your Savior. What he means to you as a father had sent the son and the wireless.

And so I send you he sending you as one of his followers to be one of only humbly letting boldness speaks the truth concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was the light of the world you were to shine as lights.

Jesus Christ was anointed of the spirit and so it is with his feet that we are not left to accomplish this witnessing this godly living in and of ourselves.

But there is an anointing of the spirit that enables us to do it in John chapter 14, Jesus said in the 12th verse.

Verily, verily I say unto you either believe is on me, the works that I do shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do because I my father would look at that verse previously pointed out didn't mean that the works are going to be superior, but they were going to be greater as far as the spread of the gospel and the amazing results that occurred in the lead early days when the spirit of God descended on the day of Pentecost. Verse 26 he said, but the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost of the father will send in my name, he shall teach all things, and bring all things to go. Remember, whatsoever I have said unto you. Jesus Christ then was anointed to the spirit and full of the spirit.

You and I are not sent out into the world to face the ravening wolves under their and be defenseless. We go as enabled on blast on the northern filled with the Holy Spirit of God, then, is Jesus Christ was constantly about his father's business, not seeking to do something of his own, but to do that which was pleasing to the father.

We read in John 1710 and all minor line of designer mind and I'm glorified in them.

How is it then that we want to be honoring him as we serve him. As we are zealous about his business. We will bring honor to his name. We then are to proclaim his truth is what we feel to be our solemn responsibility.

Anytime a minister comes to this pulpit where here not just talk about current events and talk about how you can have a brighter outlook on life where here to preach the word of God preaching the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

But everyone of you as a child of God are to be a witness to the glory of his name in acts chapter 1 verse eight but ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and all Judea and in Samaria and on to the uttermost part of the earth. This is the time of Jesus is ascending back to heaven, but he says you shall be witnesses unto me, what kind of a witness are you how often do you attempt to give the witnesses while I'm I'm somewhat intimidated. I'm afraid somebody will be offended.

Certainly, they were frequently offended by the things that Jesus had to say and they fiercely opposed his apostles available ultimately died a martyr's death the most part, certainly were not talking about being brash.

There's a difference in that him being bold, but there is a boldness that we can have when we're depending upon the Holy Spirit of God to open doors of opportunity so that we can effectively speak the message and be a witness to his glory. Matthew chapter 28 page again the words of Jesus to his disciples. Verse 19, though he, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I've commanded you and low I'm with you all late even under the end of the world on me language could mean a player than that in a time Christians get the idea that this adjuster a little group of those who are believers to get together and congregate have fellowship and there's no outreach. There is no fault of witnessing to others a missed much of what Jesus told much of what is a part of an effective Christian life go. He therefore making disciples, teaching them, baptizing them less church is focused on God's word that relies on tradition rather than precept is influenced by the world rather than being a light in darkness.

You look at the description what was going on in the church in its earliest days.

See what a marvelous thing. It is when God's people are serving and carrying out the things that he has stipulated acts chapter 2.

Looking at the 41st verse then they that gladly received his word were baptized in the same day were added on to them about 3000 souls, and they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread and a prayer. People say today will I really don't care for doctrine.

The doctrine is divisive. I think we just love one another fax enough that's not what Jesus Jesus prayed to the father sanctify them through thy truth, I word is truth. He says truth is important.

And when God was blessing the church on the day of Pentecost. Not only were the 3000 converted that man baptized but they continued in the apostles doctrine. They didn't turn aside and say well that really matter what we believe here on out. Note doctrine is important.

Truth is important. And Jesus prays therefore sanctify them that they might walk in the truth that they have the blessing of the word of God. God's word then is to be treasured.

Psalmist said I want back into my heart that I might not sin against the heaven vital influence and impact in your life, you neglected your leaving yourself open to the influence by the ungodliness around, but to be regularly in the word of God. God's Holy Spirit uses that word as the sanctifying process in Joshua said, sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you sanctify yourselves opposite meaning set yourself apart, prepare yourselves were going to go out to the battle that we want to seek God's will to do great things for us, but you sanctify yourself, how much salt do you give the progressive sanctification that should be occurring in your life. Jesus prayed tonight and sanctify them through thy truth, I word is truth, but we pray that God will help us under the influence of his word. As you hear it preached. As you read in your own family devotions that we made by his grace and power overcome the evil influences of the deteriorating society in which we live today.

Let me say that if everyone here today who struggled realizing I was come so far short of wonders God would even hear me if I called. I really see myself as a center I can see you don't encounter a lot of people with that kind of spirit. Today, most most people are self focused and really pushed him on the issue led to to the truth.

I know I have some false, but I'm really not all that bad. But when you want to see yourself as God sees you as a corrupt center with no righteousness to offer nothing to plea and then understand Jesus Christ died for sinners he came to seek and to save that which was once asked a good mood.
