The Peace of God - Part 2 of 2

We continue today with the message the peace of God, the text is Philippians chapter 4 beginning with the fourth verse rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice that your moderation be known and all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus first identified a problem that in our human nature.

We are prone to worry worry is a sin and we are told here to be careful for nothing will be full of care. Don't be worrying.

So there needs to be gracious humility, humbly thanking God for whatever you have whenever here's given you have in the spirit and attitude of the patriarch Jacob who said I'm not worthy of the least of thy mercies person has the spirit are not easily offended or not harboring hard feelings. Yes, this is all a part of it. Let your moderation be known to all men. Notice that in what we've observed thus far in each case were pointing to the Lord when it says to rejoice in the Lord and Paul says in the 13th verse I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

Thinkable that you're still working in spite of my failures, my shortcomings that you still love me you still care for me. Thank him for that undying love. Thank you for the possible. What a blessing to hear the gospel of the grace of God multitudes have never heard that true message, but you've heard your heart has been open to receive it. You want to hear it over again. Give thanks for the fellowship that we have as believers and give thanks for your family and for your friends. As the apostle said for his unspeakable gift the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter how desperate our situation might be with you always say with the apostle. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. Then we come to a blessing received verse seven of this fourth chapter. Philippians God given and the peace of God which passes understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus piece. What a wonderful thing. Peace passes understanding beyond human comprehension beyond human inventions and insights and philosophies and ideas. It's a blessing that is from Romans 1133 says all the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God, how unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past five Find out understand able to grasp all the ways of God. I've had people say to me when they lost a loved one in their heart was broken say.

This piece doesn't eliminate the trials, but it gives you peace in the midst of and then in verse eight of this passage Paul gives what I like to refer to as Paul's think list says.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report of the been diverted the been appraised. Think on these things keep mulling over in your mind the troubles that surround you be prone to worry you think on these things so much and that not time to deal with it just now come back to another time, but here the things you think about so were told to rejoice in the Lord always. We are not to worry, we let moderation be known with the old man would make our requests known with thanksgiving and think on these things. Verse nine. Those things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do, and the God of peace shall be with you. I have used this fourth chapter Philippians verses four through nine frequently in counseling over the years and distinctly one person coming back. Well it didn't work.

It dishonors God because it means that you not trust you may be given lipservice to sale. I believe God is sovereign, but if you're worrying you're not trusting the worry is the city. What a blessing in the time of crisis.

Crisis now sweeping over the world through Jesus Christ, you can have peace which passes understanding read this passage over everyday this week. Philippians chapter 4 verses four to rejoice always in the Lord. Do not worry bluntly filled with anxiety. Do not fret. Do not doubt, not fear that you trust him peace of God that passes understanding, shall keep your minds and hearts through Christ Jesus. Heavenly father, we thank the for this passage of Scripture. We pray that I would give us understanding of the special grace to be able to utilize applied in our lives than the weakness of the flesh were prone to worry will confess. Worry is a sin come humbly to the throne of grace, asking for strength that we might be able to trust in the darkness, and most difficult of times. We prayed that I would bless us all to learn about trials to grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
