The Great Glory and the Greater Glory, p.2

Let's go to first Timothy chapter 3 were in first Timothy as Timothy is that practical are one of the practical we call pastoral epistles, where the apostle is riding to his disciple Timothy about how to oversee our pastor. God's Word gives us some primary means and methods took to function by and those never change because the Scripture never changes and so we been committed to those trusting that God's Spirit will enable us to be successful a lesson as we live out God's wisdom for the church. We don't man's wisdom in the church that is some things that we can be variable alone church. The church certainly there's a lot of things actually.

But there are some main things we must do exceedingly well because the Bible is very clear about those things and in the end of it all.

The reason why we do God's work. God's way is for God's glory if we come in here and we do a lot of stuff and it looks very successful in the numbers are good and the money's good, but it's not done God's way. Then we get some credit. But God didn't get any because it's our cleverness, our creativity, but we want to show to the world and that's our purpose here. This church is to show to the world. God's wisdom is superior. God's way works and by the way it throws you in a desperate situation, it throws you won't God because of God didn't bless it and empower it. It's going to fail.

That's a great place to be where we want to be where doing God's work. God's way by God's power therefore makes much of God shows forth that his wisdom is greater than our wisdom right to kick this thing off we went to first Timothy chapter 3 and would begin in verse 15 and go through verse 16. But the hearts were wicked, but only those who are saved in Christ become the true people of God, and really are the pious or devout ones. Not that there their actions are always perfect but in Christ they stand as righteous in Jesus Christ. Now all of this was to the great great weekend that again God's glory would be made known in the earth, and that's what God's all about, let's talk about this in review just briefly, by the way, we entitled this God's great glory and the greater glory God's great glory and the greater glory we talked last time about some preliminaries.

What we mean by the preliminaries that is that all that God did in the Old Testament was to the end of plotting to what he was accomplishing through Jesus who came and was unveiled and revealed in the New Testament. So God primarily glorified himself through Israel and even through Israel's focus as as God would work for the nation of Israel. He would command her to do certain things and honor certain rules in certain laws and certain statutes and it showed God's superiority to the nations around them because they had not did not have those insights those principles those laws. Both were given as a blessing to Israel and then God would even use the enemies of Israel.

He would enable certain armies to come against her to to discipline her and then God would chasten them are red I should say punish and judge them for their sins against Israel, but in the end, the Bible makes it very clear all of this was so that God would be seen in God would be known. But we find out in this is with this comes to our second major pony we just begin developing it and it's all we will do this morning and that is that the great glory. God was making of himself that the Old Testament was all pointing to the greater glory God would bring to himself through the church through Jesus Christ in the New Testament we say to glorified. He's the great one. His work is going to be the great work you got Moses to the great work of God. God did it for Moses of course. But that's not to be compared with what Jesus is going to accomplish during this great work God the father sent him to do. Then we look at Hebrews 33 for he, Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses.

But just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. Jesus built Moses tease up Jesus as Moses creator pays the greater of them all now we come to this conclusion that God has ordained that his purposes and his glory for both time and eternity would be centered in his son Jesus Christ and in the church, Jesus builds the church. God now is no longer glorifying himself through a nation like he did in the Old Testament, the nation of Israel. Now he's calling out his assemblies of people that is made up of individuals from all nations, tongs and tribes so his church can be everywhere say this was a mystery as a first Timothy 316 means greatest the mystery of godliness that the Jews never understood that God's going to go outside the confines of just being a nation is going to form his people out of peoples of all the nation.

There are assemblies of called out ones in China and Russia and in Canada and Central American sacrament every point of the earth almost has has assemblies of called out ones that Jesus is saving what a mystery. This was a now it's been made no let's keep reminding ourselves know that the church and for now, that means the local church. This local assembly is the centerpiece of God's purposes and God's glory for time and eternity couple verses to support this. Ephesians 321 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.

He puts Jesus and the church. I'm in no way saying the church is somehow equal to Jesus, but I am saying this, the church is the work of Jesus. The church is the bride he's the groom, the church is the body needs that the church is the building he's the builder so Christ and his work. And God is glorified in that it does show the glory of God. But that's not even to be compared to the wisdom and the power and the beauty and the glory God is showing forth the building. Once Jesus died for bringing them together from all of the world and this is a new so so his records. This is a new song yet but yet to get to Jesus and his death and bidding the church to understand this new song verse 10 and thou hast made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God and they will reign upon the earth, so this song is different than the old song. It gives God greater glory. This is why when you get the revelation you start seeing phrases about a new heaven phrases about a new earth phrases about the new Jerusalem because the old ones were all corrupted and polluted with wickedness that God's doing a new greater thing is going to be a new heaven and new earth and a new Jerusalem, which is iced which is a symbolic statement of the church. The old drizzle represented the people of God, but it was full of corruption and counterfeiting, but the naturism is going to be the purified unified glorified church. Today we experience and we get to be involved in this new greater work of God. That's right. Now functioning in the forming of these local echo see us these called out ones gathering together all over the globe. It is fascinating and so humbling that God would desire to use us in building his necklace. He is is congregations of called out ones. God's work through his son of saving sanctifying in the one day glorifying his church is the apex the pinnacle of God's purposes and God's glory. I end with some don't end with this.

Father, it's all to this, again, that we might get glory. Verse two even as thou gavest him that's Jesus authority over all mankind and to all whom thou hast given him. He may give eternal life. That's how were getting great glory to ourselves. You gave me the authority all that you've given me. I'm going to give them eternal life, and in doing this work. All the universal marble over us. Verse three and this is eternal life, that they may know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. Verse four. I have glorified the on the earth, having accomplished the work without has sent me to do other words, I've secured the called out once I've known of the cross nation, speaking as if it's a finished event because it into his eternal mind. There I'm going to be buried on the rise again I'm gonna go to be with you and father.

I look so forward to us enjoying the glory we had together before came down here start with. Now here's what I'm convinced is part of this whole picture the church right now. The local church is the local called out assemblies being the product of God's power and God's wisdom is the pinnacle of God's work in the pinnacle expression of God's glory for all time and eternity and through the saving, sanctifying, and eventually the glorifying of the church. God's glory. No listener. This is one of the want to miss God's glory. That was before hand known all only within the Godhead the glory that God the father and God the son and God the Holy Spirit made together before Jesus came to third, the going to get the gun enjoy again when Jesus ascends back up to heaven. That glory is going to be unveiled. Ultimately, when the finished work of the church is done and that the final finish work is when were all glorified together with Christ, he saying there's a great great glory which mankind cannot comprehend that is the glory father that you and I had together and one day when all my work is finished and cannot tell you he will not fail at his work. Every single one of the church is converted every single one of them is assembled together all at the end time, every single one body is resurrected bodies purified all glorified all unified then will be manifest a glory the world and the universe has never seen.

It was a glory that existed only in the Godhead beforehand in your part, not just a part of that. You're called to get in on the work of helping develop that trusting that a sovereign God even with us very imperfect and weak vessels will still accomplish his perfect work. There's a role for us to play so there is that climactic crescendo of final unveiling of God's glory.

And he assembles his church at the end of time and glorifies her and unifies we participate in this one great divine scheme God has ordained for his own glory, saving and sanctifying of his echo.
