Be ready for our second ever cast a spot with Kurt Warner so thrilled to have the Hall of Famer back on the show. Listen to them along with Kevin Harlan whose voice you also heard there every Monday on the Westwood One broadcast of Monday night football. And since they are on the West Coast and were doing the game in Los Angeles.

The timing is working out for tonight. We are live from the rocket mortgage Studios.

Whether you're looking to purchase a new home or refinance yours. Rocket mortgage can help you get there for home loan solutions that fit your life. Rockets can add this game went down to the wire and it was time that we got yet again with two offenses that didn't want to get to the end zone for the young Washington mantra Washington yes had his own team. I run into him and so for that reason, did not catch the ball that was planted and yes led to a short field as Kurt Warner indicates it was set up for Dustin Hopkins and I called there on Westwood One so right now we are pleased to welcome the Hall of Famer and analyst Kurt Warner to the show though is a privilege to connect to just for fun.

Let's start with the kicker. He was out there. Dustin was with an injured hand me any still made for field goals. Does he earn the respect of the quarterback.

If he plays injured your older girl with a little bit odd little bit weird, but you knew that you were a little bit more respect from October your unemployment injured and wondering if you're going to go out there.

Your gold gave would be you are a little bit more respect from all were all still got a look at Dr. before the game that you talked about Russell Wilson and the Broncos offenses looking uncomfortable just not in a rhythm and I had the child's when they started this game. It looked like they'd finally found some of that rhythm, but petered out. So at the quarterback. How do you get everybody on the same page will permit your first and foremost we could talk about creating news that you can have too often we are.

You look at a particular employee to go all displays very similar to what I read yet there's always different nuances of the coaches teach you a little bit differently. It's called a little bit differently. Maybe the depth of route is a little bit different. And so, although it you don't to degree feel like okay this is familiar to me there's all always little differences that the clearing and then you have to in the back of all. Now we gotta get a game and what is this guy going to do in a game.

If you get this book are what you get a deal to get that little drawing it up on the board and on paper is completely different than the scenarios you face in game and those are all things that add to getting comfortable with the quarterback being able to visualize the play know exactly whatever was going to do, how it ties into the drop going to make and then okay Meg Morgan on this with four different receivers.

Now, what are they all going to do when we see this scenario and sometimes that scenario was seen for the first time in game and now you gotta go. Okay, what you do on your to and then if he doesn't. Now what happened you know now they look at you and go, what you do on the water thrown at their you know the guys going somewhere else so those are all the different things that we kind of thing go quarterbacks really good and he's probably run this plate number of times so you just gonna pick up where he left off when it comes to another team and it's just not that easy. Always believed you having poison from different systems that it takes about 12 month like a full year in the system so you can you because normally when you going to a new system you kind of translate back so you think about learning a new language right when you learn Spanish and you say some words manage.

The first thing you do is okay. What is that in English. Okay, think about trying to play a game of football when you get a call into the huddle, and the first thing you do is go to what what is not calculated you when I was in Seattle okay you don't, you have to think about the game instead of just reacting and visualizing what you see and all of that stuff goes in when you're learning a new office, no matter how good you are coming from Brady went through your we went throughout the season and tamper his first year, going to my gosh because it would be any good. You know, even with the greatest quarterback of all time and so the thing that stands just kind of expect you to come.

Use the enter be natural for God, but it really does take a long time to be able to get to the point where you can just settle in. Be comfortable as we talk about implacable engine on the Westwood One broadcast that the Chargers you had some higher expectations for them.

Considering that there quarterback with their head coach. Now they been together for a couple of years to what you see with them that's holding them back a little bit. I just did a lot of teams this year. When you watch them you can't really put your finger on. Okay, what's off here but a lot of teams there often look choppy so it doesn't slow you.you don't see them you get in and make one of these drives were just come like bang bang bang bang bang and it just works in now or in the and that's kind what looks like to me with the Chargers is that they got a really good quarterback got really good players across the board, but it just looks choppy yell just like tonight, they could never really get anything going, and establish any kind of a drive and create big plays down the field and I can't really put my finger on. Okay, what is it that's holding them back and stopping them from being able to do that but you'd all been a little disappointed with their offense because it has been choppy and probably more disappointed until tonight with their defense. You know JC Jackson comes over and Khalil Mack you and you know you already have Bozo the actor you just look at these guys on paper you're like you should be dominate with what they have all offensively and defensively and it just hasn't worked out like that. Up to this point and so you want to continue to watch and try to see if I can figure out what it is the biggest thing is you just want this team to develop that killer and so many years the unit, and of the Chargers. Okay every game. Because they're probably gonna lose a close and you just want to see him when I get up on teams to be able to you know put the hammer down is finished teams off because they got all these great players and we just haven't seen that you are teaching a lot of bad football around the leaks another six weeks. Would you agree with that or no. I would try to what I mean when I was talking about Charlie's been choppy yeah is that you just don't see teams coming out and clicking on all cylinders need only got a couple of really ugly looks really pretty good deal of work playing great.

I think in the city of Buffalo seen some really good things from them but yeah I mean the Packers you know all our struggle in the box or struggle and you know we talked about these two teams tonight. The Raiders and we always teams that that you feel like have the pieces are playing very good football and we were talking about off the year. Tonight was just a hint of a closet heckler documented in the postgame interview you didn't claim preseason and you seen so many more guys and so many more quarterbacks not playing in preseason and you wonder what kind of affect that house on these teams, and here I think that's the beginning of an ego. They got your mom splayed log preseason Josh Allen played saw me play lobby points out, they will exploit you know and you start to wonder if some of the chopping. Especially early in the season has to do with these guys not playing together, especially if you put guys in a new situation was a local builder playing card doesn't play with the body atoms in a new office of and you start to wonder. Oh maybe that has a big effect on you, how they come out of the blocks early and how long it takes them to really find the rhythm so spend a few minutes with Kurt Warner fresh off Westwood One broadcast of money I football another overtime thriller, this one from LA he's also a Hall of Fame QB's are good to pick his brain a little bit here in after hours CBS sports radio is there no way to fix it other than just reps. I guess that's the million-dollar question right. How you get there.

While I think you know for me. I've always felt like so visualizing that you could take three really good 2:45 Hall of Fame and you could draw play up on the board and you could have one Hall of Fame quarterback that loves it.

One that says you know it's okay I can deal with that and then want to go to and you might look at I go. How is it possible for three really good quarterback should not you all feel the same way about a particular play, but we all see the game differently. We play the game differently. Eventually, and I've always felt it was so important for an office coordinator, office of play designer play: to see the game the same way as were quarterback or to learn how the quarterbacks see the game so they can create plays and call plays accordingly and so that for me becomes a big part of this process with you know these new coaches coming in with these new quarterbacks and you know just thinking that Hamlet take this offense that I ran in New England in order to run it Las Vegas and it's going to be seamless and then you have your car going little Florida beach really feeling quite the don't really make sense to how I see the game. And then there's that your lack of continuity stall my office you're trying to install it for this quarterback in your designing new plays each week is being able to develop that understanding of the guy behind center. The guy with the ball in his hands on every play. How does he see the game how the process these different plays and I've got to find a way to build my office around the way he sees the game otherwise. It's always going to feel like it's shopping.

It's always good to be like you know the quarterback is fighting these plays in fighting to make them work because they're not fully confident in it because they're not seeing it works not being built way that they play the game sound like a friendship or marriage relationship to figure out how to communicate the same page right. I think there's a little about and then you have to give like a relationship. You gotta figure out you went out in the end got you know if you got a coordinator that really likes what he's doing and then you have a quarterback that doesn't like you want to do some other stop who gets to win out in the end, and I'm always a believer that the guy on the field to win out in the end, you know, my wife always got a win out of the ice here like I'm always good to be the winner. You gotta figure that out but I thought I just don't believe anything was ever going to be really really good until you build around your quarterback and you find a system that fits him in and using very few quarterbacks that really excel from one system to another. Peyton Manning did, but you going talk to the people that were around that Peyton basically took his office and ultimately became the Broncos office. You could say the same about me going from St. Louis to Arizona. It took some time but eventually the offense that we developed was very similar to what we did in St. Louis because we were built that way and because it was how I felt. I played my best football and when we got there we started having success in joke that becomes a key component with these quarterbacks will new coaches that are coming into being. With these new quarterbacks is making sure that it fits what that quarterback goes well and I think that's the only way to truly have great success topic around the cell. The last couple weeks and we had another couple of instances on Monday night football roughing the passer. So as a quarterback Kurt how would you define it or how should it be to find Jaromir I figure it's really really hard.

I give all official credit to see all the things that they see the speed of the game and to get so many things right that you have been the roughing the pastor becomes a really really hard one because you looking at so many different things and we got rules in place to protect the quarterback and I think we all understand why because the quarterback driven legally what those guys out there. We want our best players out there, but it's really hard to see like we had one tonight. I'm not sure who was that they got called for but as he was rushing he got hit from the side by an offense of lineman that was knocking him to the ground as he was trying to tackle the quarterback and ends up hitting Russell Wilson you know semi low, and as soon as they see a quarterback it it low. The fly comes out right you know that the Grady Jarrett hit on on Tom Brady you after what happened to her. I member watching that play the first time and I thought I saw that you that the speed of the swing by Jared as he was taken down. I'm like okay there's a penalty to its common and then your Jarrett finger kinda like let up at the enemy, Lady Tom Brady down without without throwing him down like I thought he was going to so I thought the same thing in the moment like this penalty is streaming down. We just saw what happened if you were there throwing up, like you, and then the end of it happened and that I thought will not stop drug penalty because I don't think it was that bad when it was all said and done and so were beneficial but see all of that or I'm sure he saw the swing and everything with the reminder that flight was coming out and didn't really have a chance to gotta take it all in go and will show that really have been a penalty or not. And I think you Chris Jones thing very similar maybe didn't see the ball coming out and didn't see all of that aspect and just all the full body weight voluntary card and that's by the letter of the law.

It's a penalty. So I think were trying to get a right. I think it's going to be hard to get a right rules and and I don't really know what the answer is immunized. I would love for them to review it and to have somebody really look at it and go sure that or should that not be a penalty here, but I don't get the sense that we've been thinking about considering that so now were going to be subject to the speed of the game and all the things that are happening and the letter of the law and I think were going to have a lot more roughing the passer penalties that were all going to back… That's just a football play, but all in the vein of trying to do the right thing and protect deposition which I think everyone of us completely understand Warners with us here after hours on CBS sports radio CM Tom Brady yesterday and really anytime he doesn't when he gets angry he or his emotional animate on the sidelines.

There's a video that captures it for the whole world, and yesterday it was him yelling choice word that is often sublime in that kind of thing happen to me now at scrutinizing cameras everywhere but I, where guys can't get fired up and yell at each other on the sidelines blog that they could probably happen most between quarterback and all you know when we worded here. Or, you know, we don't feel they're doing their job.

You are doing players that sometimes we gotta get all and we you know we we gotta get after him and sometimes it out of the huddle.

It happened on the sidelines, but yeah I think that's that's the normal course of action, and a lot of football games when you know were not having success that we want the first link that you go over to the office a lot, you know, we were not going God like you gotta pick it up or if I'm getting hit a lot in you know in your didn't beat up okay you call we got we got to figure this out so I don't know. I mean, I don't really think a lot about interactions that happen on the sidelines.

You know specially what happened here and there because part of football in the art thereby could say that all the time they bring up one incident where I was yelling in my coach coming off the field and every time don't have that I can remember that time you yeah you know that I was terrible that you know they bring it up all the time. I didn't get into those situations very often, but sometimes it happens like that you get after it. And I think the biggest thing is just to go away. You know I respect you guys would get all mere coaches a get on me because I understand they're just trying to get the best out of me and I want them to understand the same thing that I'm not attacking a person on just attacking a problem and we've all got a look at it that way. And you know what, I wonder if it became a bigger deal yesterday because of you know Tom Brady and some of the situation that he's gone through with 11 days off going proper crash wedding you know you just wonder figured elevated a little bit because of those things where really in the big picture of anybody that's play ball anyways quite off the water quarterback would look at that and go meant that having a million shot that's normal. You got to go. I have to tell you I learned the term hot options by listening to you tonight. I had not heard that term before, so that was cool and I don't I don't know how you have time for it, but obviously you started QB confidential. In addition to all the other things that you got going out there I would check in confidential what I learn more terms like hot options will you would learn all kind of stuff.

So I've got a couple to relate forgot confidential.com which is a teaching website so that has everything from like you talk about terminology. What I call black work breakdown structure label design. It's got film studies got technique stuff so backs really for you.

I got lots of people that use it, but it's a real in-depth teaching tool also got my QB confidential YouTube page where I do film study every single week and you're gonna find a lot of that stuff, you know, up 25, 30 minutes on you know the Chicago Bears today and so it's breaking down the game get all of its elements from the quarterback perspective. So the couple different means of being able to use it but yet you will learn a lot of different terminology thing that we talk about is quarterback sound so deliciously nerdy. It sounds amazing 33rd, you need to see it every single day.

You can find Kurt on Twitter occurred 13 water where did you get the caricature with a light saber. By the way the card will likely close to about a year ago and so I just stole it from the OB curve like that. So as I was briefly so I made it my by my homepage on Twitter so check them out there on twitter@qbconfidential.com Kurt Warner.org and it's always a great privilege to have you on the show. Kurt especially when you've already worked like 12 hours day.

So thank you so much for couple minutes no problem always my pleasure very talking. I'm sure he means that with all of this actually is really kind of him and and her heart Kurt Kevin Harlan to sometimes because they do either NBA broadcasts in the case of Kevin whose NBA season starts on Tuesday or they do these games and you're at the stadium for hours and actually saw occurred on NFL network long before the game ever kicked off for him to spend these extra few minutes talking to us. And man, do you learn something every time you hear him talk is even in the last 15 minutes.

I just learned about QB confidential about to become my new favorite website. We've been asking you and Kurt answer the question to fill in the blank, through six weeks.

The offense in the file is what he is choppy. Kurt Warner's answer choppy what your answer on Twitter after our CBS or on her Facebook page. Thanks much for hanging out with us. No one wants to speak up when things go horribly wrong to get game five crickets. All of a sudden we were the boat that a game five in the American League division series between the Yankees and the Guardian. I know Mark Marco you are hearing. I know not only are you doing our network updates after hours, but also with our New York affiliates, and it seems as though people were very up in arms about the fact that wasn't canceled for two and half hours so late. Let's hear what Brian Cashman general manager of the Yankees had to say.

Because, of course, the game was supposed to take place in the Bronx and they didn't end up postponing until about 930 Eastern time.

We expected to play out a window, clear, and then a new system popped up not the last call started take a little longer to clear and we were actually wrestling with the first time in a new system weather is tricky is very unpredictable, but the full intention was an expectation everything the way was we were in the night. Both teams want to play tonight and unfortunately whether took us down.

Maybe I should be more upset about it or it more understanding as I can imagine if I were sitting at Yankee Stadium for two and half hours. I would be frustrated but II tend to believe Brian Cashman that they thought they were going to get the game in and didn't want to postpone it for obvious reasons being that they did postpone it and didn't get it in place. The opener of the ALC as a day later whoever ends up surviving game five stand get all that you can't and it's two half hours to sit there from when you first pitch was likely that ballpark about five hours in the rain, the players people to people get into the stadium early the ideas if you bring if you have a rain delay for 2 1/2 hours to talk to people at 8 o'clock when the games will start at 7 o'clock. You gotta start telling people we what we have to system we think we could start around 930.

Hey we start at 10 o'clock. You gotta give somebody some sort of idea what is going on. What are you thinking what you doing because they kept saying whether to have a meeting at whatever I think was 630 Eastern before the 7 o'clock and they knew our organist on the rain delay and then they said it would have another meeting around 745 and then another one meeting. Can you let me know what was twitter for what what was socially what what is baseball doing block on Twitter about the time the football game kicked off and thought I'd I haven't seen an update postpone because I turned over to TBS and it was Dwayne Wade cube game show or something like that so I knew was still postponed, but I I can understand people are upset because there was no info.

That's the biggest thing for me. Look, I get it if you say we thought were to get it in and all of a sudden we didn't see it. I mean I don't hide and seek is that that doesn't make a lot of sense. We will not meteorologist so I don't know what it is that you could figure out from 830 to 915 that that's confusing to me. Okay I'll take your word for it, but you couldn't explain that the people at any point. Nothing you said nothing from working to start the game. A rain delay. Around 630 Eastern you gave them zero updates until about 935 and you said tomorrow four 711 parking get everybody by all the food you said the father should be refunded. No negative oh nothing that and you also have to figure out a way to get back to the next day we write it in the middle of the afternoon.

I'm assuming at work and figure this. You didn't know this was to happen. I understand that's part of the fine print that part of that I can live with, but not when you don't tell anybody anything like it. If it o'clock.

As you said we think we have a window that we can start it's a 945 Eastern at that point. If you're in the stands and you go when I can start until 10 o'clock roughly. You know what I don't want to sit here all night and you get up you go, that's your choice.

That's up to you but at least you have a clue of what's going on. Not a 15 go hey maybe 30, maybe 45, and the frustration there. I'd football to keep me company so I wasn't that stressed about it, but again I had the football game to him inside him dry you know you feel like I get up I can understand that we were confused just as you said, you know, the New York Philly were were the home of Yankee baseball so was kind of confusing play when I'm playing a renal analog, but it still be ideal like you have to figure this out at some point, like I know it's difficult.

I know it's sometime slow jobs are difficult tough figure. Now I one time I went to a game at Fenway Park. This is back when I was working in Providence market went to a game at Fenway Park and it was cold rainy. With April.

Some such nonsense, cold rain. They had us all packed in because it was you word sitting in the sand getting soaked so they had people get underneath in the concourses and I just fill out whatever space they could find. We were raising two hours and 15 minutes and then they started again, but they made it very clear to us that if we left it there was no refund for anything and so most of the people stayed but I do remember it was cold.

It was rainy and it took two hours and 50 minutes of sitting in the concourse that cold concrete in at Fenway Park waiting for them to give us some kind of information already delay steak will limit some point you like it still be ideal to it is a playoff game, you have to give people that are sitting there to some sort of quote agreed, except TV networks are involved in this to you and majorly baseball involved in this to you, and clearly they wanted to get the game in and that's fine but you gotta keep saying that were to still try will try 930 were to try 10 o'clock working to try 1015 give an idea what's going on in that silly thing to like. I know I saw a lot of place in social media, and I understand during the regular-season team has a lot of say that the post is not. This is all majorly baseball like all the guardians want to play the Yankees dinner. The Yankees want to play the guardians the matter which one it is a matter you know you can say really want to play baseball is the one that's making the decision didn't care what you say right. True, it's all about their TV networks and and what's best for them to put the game on TV.

One more from Brian Cashman again.

This is after they called the game and he was asked about the fans sitting there at the stadium for 2 1/2 hours while people were forcibly through some bad weather and Odyssey.

Sorry about that. No one wants that for anybody. Don't wish that on our fans ever know what he wants to take you struggle to find a so it's obviously rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon in the Bronx.

It'll be 4 o'clock.

Both New York and Cleveland time after Cortez is going to start instead of Jamison Tyrone and at least right now it's undecided for the guardians, though I did hear that Aaron Smalley was still going to start but I don't.

I'm not sure if they're changing that now or what will find out tomorrow for sure the official word Tito frequented said that before the game started, and I'm going to go.

It's about figuring out what to do. I'm going to Bali game five unit we could push back on always be Brentford's rest, then click the game was over. Didn't make it official yet quick player for a 70 tomorrow and this report is Cleveland.

It seems like they want to sleep on it and probably my guess this is just speculation.

I would think you probably want to check with Bieber to see if he can go but it sounded like Francona made it really evident like I am. I'm going to Bali but afterwards didn't want to make official.

By the way, my friend Casey, who is here visiting said young woman that I mentor and waited to finally meet in person first person she asked about you up to the building is markable any I mean it. You have a groupie if you would like what she's gone now so I can talk about.

I know she's not listening first person she she. I'm sorry sir Jason really didn't care but you were next on her list actually know can I tell you will more things I would never do this in front of her, because I would never embarrass her.

She said where's Michael Valenti, my son told me Margo, but I would never do that if she was still here.

Because his uncle bothering my son theme I where's Michael Valenti I will say that she seemed awesome that I talked to very sweet and I'll say this. If you are if you do happen to be listening to you I apologize I'm sorry that I could live up to whatever you have the right guy Jesus. She said you and Margo. After I going to have such good chemistry. Not like, well, we've been working together for 10 years. Our old. So yes, when you're 26. 10 years is a really long time so what's another 10 years.

I will be here in 10 years. I hope I am. You know were not low, but I mean hours ago tough man.

I think I'm getting old asked that ship sailed on down that slope, you know there's gravity units of the Chevy Chase and micros vacation that he put on the sled down the hills like Matthew, that's me, so I have no choice. I mean if it's good for Margo Iser, Michael.

I suppose I can continue to yeah start to rise Michael below is after hours with Amy Lawrence so will do a little more.

The baseball preview because we do actually have the N LCS beginning on Tuesday, Heller very high water since we got more of your responses about football. The offense around the NFL. You are listening to the after-hours podcast, Rob only thing that I sold initially saying all they are saying is that he is not on the field and it is not injury related television cameras with your listening and watching recall him having words with Joe daily. The one notes that walked off the field.

Clearly what happened will focus attention on one individual.

We can talk about the game we could talk about situations in the game for what I'm up with a lot of energy into one. I was honestly confused because the soul is not again for the fourth quarter notes, I was honestly confused and no upset by the SS base after-hours Lawrence because your hours were numbered with the Carolina Panthers and maybe that's just fine with Robbie Anderson, who yes was kicks out of the stadium or at least told to get to the locker room by Steve Wilkes after coach decided that he'd seen enough of Robbie join with his position coach and then separating himself from the rest of the team when they were trying to rally in Los Angeles against the Rams on Sunday and Steve Wilkes didn't want to talk about it physically after the game, but it's safe to say that the Cardinals not the Cardinal sorry the Panthers came up with a quick solution and that was to train Robbie to the Cardinals, who incidentally had another hole on the roster because Marquise Brown Hollywood Brown suffered a foot injury that is reportedly going to sideline him indefinitely after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio crazy how this has played out.

Remember that the Cardinals traded for Hollywood Brown. He had a pre-existing relationship with Kylie Murray going back to Oklahoma. They traded for him on draft night because the ravens were willing to part with him. He suffered what could be a season-ending injury, although he told reporters on Sunday that the x-rays were negative and is going to get a second opinion, but he gets pulled into the Cardinals worldwide because of DeAndre Hopkins because they're missing him who by the way, is about to return. Now they lose Brown and they bring in Robbie Anderson – it's a revolving door at the top of your quarterback even when you give a pre-existing relationship. Now I don't think that's the bulk of the issue with Kyler Murray. But I say this a lot in sports, constant change equals constant losing. According to Adam Shafter the Panthers are receiving 1/6 rounder and 1/7 rounder in exchange for Robbie Anderson and Clint Kingsbury. He was already talking about it Monday bring some speed Hollywood as possible to solicit synergist for the long term, we need some more anymore. Something in their you answered our questions. I really question.

I guess the question raised in the form of a fill in the blank beeswax of my favorites because I feel like these come up with such humorous and varied responses. The offense around the NFL this season is what through six weeks.

The offense around the league this season is what you can fill in the blank on Twitter after-hours CBS or on our Facebook page and as I say, many of you are. Respondent was already seen dozens of you way again. Start with a few that are on Facebook and again Kurt Warner told us choppy and keep saying that Kurt Warner told us choppy that he was on the show.
