Although I always remember and feel badly for the animals because you know they're terrified with all of those people with all that noise there thinking how the hell did I end up here what I get out of here. Remember there always more afraid of us, but we are about. Of course, from the rocket mortgage studios whether you're looking to purchase a new home or refinance yours. Rocket mortgage can help you get there for home loan solutions that fit your life. Rockets can. We will check on the health of the goose the health and well-being of the goose at dodger Stadium. When we have the opportunity. We talked about the two National League games that finally were played on Wednesday night. Both those theories are even the American league is back in the spotlight come Thursday and I'm wondering if working to get the same fireworks that we had at Minute Maid Park in Houston to wrap game one between mariners and the Astros. No one will you use the right, and what we heard it and we played it multiple times because it was so entertaining and they put every ounce of energy they had into it.

Obviously, that the 41,000+ fans at Minute Maid Park went completely. Not so. It was utter pandemonium, perfect opportunity to grab a member of the Astros broadcasting Robert Ford and Steve Sparks of the play-by-play voices and I listen to them, even in the dead of summer because I enjoy their their broadcast tonight. I think they're so much fun and obviously very competent to and so were pleased to welcome Steve Sparks even getting ready now for the road trip.

It's I'm coming now still game to will be played in Houston on Thursday but then they have to travel's were glad to grab a couple minutes with Steve, who is also a former big league pitcher. So, did you hear the call there. What was that like for you to have that your Don Alvarez ball just Blocks to the whole stadium go crazy. Working on the audio out the third, 23 career no director to get on very far into what David Hensley first career that you find a way to go on dates so the runner on Tuesday strike out. You goes out to strike and water could kill them all year long.

Able to reach out. Line single up the middle and that whole time we were leaving everything in your Don was on deck.

There's a shadow right there with you right in front of so you get to the plate and the drama bill broadcasters Robert Ford and myself were just going all my doctor seen him come through so many times in the ring in the left batter with Carl Tucker or your Don Alvarez just doesn't matter if the writing or lucky that fish typically guide you moment to keep your cool down the way you look like such a beautifully controlled going to dictator Robert was out who you really live back to get this refrigerator broadcast through their scream and waiting. You know we want to make sure the crowd, but we can but everybody want to get we did our best to train herself just enough to understand a little what we were watching yourself think, though, because it certainly sounds like you felt like you were drowned out by the crowd. Yeah the fiber we feel about our death. There's a vibration you know everybody there percolated a map of couple coffee or a volcano waiting to a rock. We felt that you know those were going to blackout feeling really blessed Robert will probably good. A lot of people watch them. Roberts called a novel and got every bit of emotion out there feeling possible to encapsulate what you're done. Alvarez means to this team know not really heard it for a long time, and even some of the veteran players Julie Curiel 11 so they'll choose very brave of you guys were saying your thinking a lot throughout my career in Minnesota and that of course went on to be an icon in Boston and that's what your Don reminded me the very first time a solid body of spray strike zone discipline when you hit the ball off everything reminded me so you're talking to some my pictures played against you know there thing to say thank you for coffee and build a watch in 25 years old be able to command the station waiting that is high praise the body type and the size of both big poppy and your dance like every time they connected with the pitch. It should be on the ballpark yeah a lot will fill these out so well, hello playing you look at that The hundred 11 miles from the whole lineup to write you stuff all the time. Scott is playing baseball were spending a few minutes with Steve Sparks, whose one half of that Astros radio team Robert Ford of the play-by-play. Steve also up over big league pitcher.

So we get that expertise on the broadcasts after hours on CBS sports radio. I'd love to hear your insight on Justin Vernon Lander what you see with him yesterday. A little black man we thought a couple times 1.75 ERA very infrequently. But you have one of the Seattle earlier May 27 to about four homers and six runs and that Damon next game actually face Seattle dominated so nobody redeems himself as well as future Hall of Famer Gilbert later is the marquee name on this team and everybody follow his lead is fun to watch a lot of interview with her later in the blinders off, he was out of the game for a couple years.

In real life you want to said his routine thing better than the sake were tickled blinders often in a resource for his teammate joy that you want to be a mentor good friend, a good teammate built like a little time off and have a baby and think of that nature opened his eyes little bit fun to have this version of him around each. Could you imagine what he had to go through the picture, even if it is a free Catholic to be able to get to this point how the season. He did again after the injury and the time away and I had a buddy of mine watches showcasing the Strangers and he called me all over the mind of the free-agent people of all the things that I don't think I've ever seen better.

Well, you know, no play for quite a while, the big league.

He knew what he was watching the most impressive bull showcasing ever going to try new no I do not doubt about, why do no stone unturned for his rehab with and how hard you work and freak in that way we see guys in different sports photographer with Tom Brady in such a plan at a high level gauge and Berliners combination of great talent to take advantage of technology and very taken advantage of nutrition. Whatever it is to get a 39-year-old software every five or six days and dominate such member Valdes in game number two coming up on Thursday like the way this rotation could stack up considering the travel days, but also the kind of weird day off in between game wanting to yeah you look for you knowing about it again. 530 Robert the one who is the most likely to be able to do a very strong 25 consecutive quality start with a single set season major league record that this year the ballgame bounced back very quickly so mature very much mentally in the last couple years.

You got a sports psychologist help them through some of that and is very difficult for for manager and say the broadcasts very hard to take out of the ballgame and I think a lot of people understand you probably the best ground ball inducing picture. We think it's Brandon Webb diamondback, probably 20 years ago, 67% basically for farmer the last few years and hard to take a guy like that out of any game with any circumstance away from the ground ball double-play so the ballgame just for that fact alone manager and I'm glad today because I was asking about Dusty Baker and asked other people like Jeff Blom I pretty sure I asked Robert about him to. Why has he been the right fit for the Astros to give them stability.

But not just to keep them playing at the highest level right will be obvious after the cheating.

All they need a respectable front. They needed the face of this organization.

The people respected and perfect for that.

Beyond that, I mean the experience the culture he provides for the guys to be himself. He continued a philosophy to let young guys feel at ease in the clubhouse and that usually for that wasn't the case. No, 15, 20 years ago. In all the way back know if you you're a rookie you are to be seen not heard but thought that way you know you guys feel comfortable that way you get the best version of the guys when they come to the German pain is a perfect example that he had big shoes to fill. Shortstop for the Astros this year, but everybody put their arm around him in and help them through his first major league for you to great everything about him very comfortable in the clubhouse and he appreciated very humble. Anyway, that's the type of the culture that Dusty has going on in the clubhouse and the freedom of the coaches to coach and the players play is comfortable enough in his own skin to let that play out similar to a bright snicker that Dusty Baker would be a sentimental favorite to get that rain could you imagine after all these years to see him finally on the top would be amazing. I manager years, night, and the all-time wins list done everything the great players every draw expertise from so many experiences that the great people personal take this on the first year that Dusty was in spring training with the Astros they were playing in Jupiter in the Marlin that day there was a couple guys who drove four hours across the state. Couple of his former players. Kirk Manwaring and maybe go just to go support Dusty for about 30 minutes during batting practice. Just put their arms around and good luck and let everybody else there no play for Dorothy, 15, 20, 25 years ago still made an impact in their life and they were going to show him their support and that really struck me is like and that he made an impression on the really good few minutes with Steve Sparks one half of the Astros radio team and a former big league pitcher himself. It's after hours on CBS sports radio okay Steve tell me if this sounds crazy. I actually feel like the Astros, even with 106 wins the packet they have led the American League West the whole season. Essentially I feel like they even then still flew under the radar is not possible.

Yeah I think so.

They did it in a different fashion. This uranium most people remembered you when they were really dominating their division. They still dominated the offense of way.

When you do it authentically that I think it stands out more 15 bit of pitching and you had a six man rotation that allow for lender to recover and stay fresh throughout the season but they dominated pitching wising in the lineup and relentless is been in years past, but still potent know we talked about going on a course that they still got a lot of way, but overall pitching in and a lot of times when you talk about the seventh-inning reliever your fourth starting pitcher under three headlines like some of the power hitters (Judge yeah yeah you can't blame them think you're walking through whatever one through whatever they just as well as anybody see what you think about the Mariners and the way they got into the playoffs and ended their drought was back to back wall costs late in the season they have a flair for the dramatic.

They got this incredible young rookie with a megawatt smile and a game to what impresses you about the Mariners. I remember getting in the elevator about five years ago.

Photo after game in the Astros swaddled in Seattle and we were done we were getting ready to go get on the box. But Dakota was going downstairs elevator playtime. You guys have got to get more athletic you know that was a bar you know they were watching what we have to do with Foley that Shirley start to see the guy they brought in and got guy go in the bowl. Swing mess a couple guys in the rotation will see one of them, particularly for studio tomorrow swing and miss some of the Astros were looking for when they put together this roster are the Mariners of God in matchup wising for athleticism. I think I think you're on par both of these teams very, very athletic.

Now and I think the only thing that the Astros probably have over Seattle. And when you have confidence and experience to draw on the matter, sometimes with all that yesterday. Of course being the taken for granted Seattle very very good game that had a great season and 1/2 hope you know you down 8 to 1 game against Toronto and you come back everybody in the dugout has that fresh in their memory if they fall behind at any point of the rest of this series. They're only going to happen. If you have hope. You can always be very dangerous, even on top of hope they have a lot of talent. They do what is it to me to a clubhouse to have an infusion of talent but also personality like Julio Rodriguez right now. It means everything you know you quickly become the face of that branch. I think the best player on their team.

There's no question about that and they're going to write him for 15 years probably know, you can keep him on the field is going to come to where they want to go. There's no doubt my mind you very special to be one of the most talked about enigmatic players in the game for years to come and go. I know that that you do have game to coming up on Thursday season. The lockout is a distant memory, cast a shadow for minds and it was a big talking point. There were people who swore off baseball and that was it.

I'm never going back and honestly it feels like all of that has faded almost as though it was a bad dream. When you think about the state of baseball to help the baseball this season, Steve. What's your assessment. Think about that during spring training. I had an air B&B already lined up and I we care for three weeks before the lockout was settled.

So I would go to the ballpark in me Baker. Gary yes was the one. Everyday we have a lot to talk about but we were drawing on the last strike and what that meant. What that hangover felt like. And when we came back in 1995. After that long strike. It was brutal. I mean fans that you talk about swearing off baseball there still people sworn off baseball that haven't come back yet so it was a very difficult time players felt for a long time, and until really until Cal Ripken broke Lou Gehrig contacted again straight.

There was nothing really to feel good about about baseball.

So you're thinking about during that time this spring.

We were hopeful we were hearing rumors that just like everybody else didn't really have a clear answer. We were hoping for.

We are hopeful that we were going go through something similar that we did 25 years ago.

That certainly doesn't seem like it most the people that I've talked to almost don't remember that it ever happened, which is a good thing for baseball. Steve Sparks one half of the Astros broadcast team. I enjoy listening to you and Robert Ford.

Even when it's dead of summer and I could be watching you guys are fun. Listen, thank you so much for a couple minutes. It's great to catch up with you and they are getting.

You never heard Robert and Steve father working together now for a decade to have a great rapport and they're just fine. I you got baseball announcers who know how to make it a little fun with the experience. Even though I've used the stop for a three hour baseball game.

Only 6 1/2 minutes is actual play-by-play. The rest is stories and stats then perspective and set up insisted not the same as basketball which is nonstop or football which at least had stretches of intensity, even if there is more down time to write, you can find us on Twitter after our CBS. Well, we've got the latest in QB news because a lot of the quarterbacks speak on Wednesdays. It's required by the NFL for certain players and obvious that the coaches have to speak on particular days coming out of one football week and going into the next I was still better sad sap of the week and the show question of the night. It was an overwhelming choice by you for TD of the week on both of our social media site. As always, our polls originate from our show Twitter account after our CBS and if you haven't seen me phenomenal defense, the latter being flashed by Dansby Swanson Austin Riley of the Braves two separate videos got them up on our show Twitter and Facebook page 2 after hours with Amy Lawrence so I thought things were really quick.

And also, since we have Marco, Marco and I about the same age as before, but were were the same.

Jen, I think so, yes Jay is not the same Jen as us. I don't think so. Jerry technically a millennial.

I think so.

Yeah. Oh dear. Okay well there went a beautiful relationship. Okay so I went yeah I don't pretty sure millennial's eroding the world but I still want that long ago that Jane I somehow end up in this discussion about how people respond to text messages with it or it could be a Facebook message. I don't use Facebook message much but people respond to DM tech anything with Moji right like that.

That to me seems so dismissive and rude and also it could be interpreted a bunch of different ways but that's all. People say I'll send them a big long text message I just get a thumbs up. In response, not just a man that would be stereotypical, but I think more men probably do it than women but I get that from my email a couple of female friends now that and I just it annoys the crap out of me.

By the way, I just want you all to know that after I talked about this on the air a bunch of my friends who I didn't previously realize listen to the show sent me with the thumbs up a Moji because they were listening. Anyway, there's a new study that was done among thousands of young people between 16 and 29 today that is even include you, Mark. Sorry, but young people ages 16 and 29. That would be tendency.

That's what you are your gently laid the younger generation also thinks the thumbs up. A Moji is rude and passive aggressive things will these users are saying because it's confusing it could mean a number of different things. It could be a yes it could just be hey I got your methods what ever I just think it's an it's annoying if that's all you have to say is a response to a message it just seems very dismissive in my opinion is that conversations over kind of thing doesn't bother me. I don't use a Moji of any kind that you know you're missing out lots of animal Moji much fun :-) is all that nonsense.

I don't think that's me. You don't smile very early so I have a lot of people usually admit something where the conversation is pretty much done. It's almost the same God.

It is given you thumbs about it while it bothered Genevieve to get their feelings hurt over everything.

Ages 16 to 29 this is that they're very sensitive and so they apparently think it's passive-aggressive but also it's rude. Moji's probably won't surprise you are more likely to be used by those over 35 okay so that would include both Marco and I were both over 35 I J not, but I will just say for Jay. He well did you use more Moji's new text with me because because I do it, or using use them with your other friends who are a lot a guys all guys but a lot of guys not as much but I do use them so J also uses a Moji's even though he's not quite 35 but apparently these young people also think that if you use them in the workplace that you are alienating. They don't feel included. If you use a Moji's in a workplace which I the only people I use would be with with Jay but were friends. In addition to being like you have probably use a couple of Moji in text. You probably you will flip phone, though, don't you, and you finally get a smart phone.

You see, when I first met you. 10 years ago yes okay so there's more. Though the part that I find highly amusing.

This will apply Marco's and he's already indicated he does not use a Moji producer J. Are you ready the top 10 most offensive of Moji's according to young people, the ones that indicate that your old essentially.

So this is again according to thousands of young people ages 16 to 29 these are the Moji's that they said mean that your old because our generation doesn't use them and be that they find to be offensive and I'd I don't know why because I'm not a 16-year-old, but you know about them. These are some of the ones that they they feel like indicate that you're not part of their generation, the thumbs up a Moji would you just talked about the red heart of Moji. Okay, that's one of my favorites in my top three.

I use the right heart of Moji all the time. I'm clearly old. I've Artie told you all that the okay hand, I never once used either the thumbs up or the okay symbol either. J uses the okay symbol every now and then only to describing something is like being perfect or be like really don't use that is like a okay I conversation hundred so I would always be in context really going very nice like emphasis on the nice what green tech.

I don't know what that is. Mark is a checkmark. You probably got that so hard to find in my list of Moji's.

It's not even one that pops up right away. My smart phone my galaxy S 10.

He had no joke. Thousands of a Moji's and if you have to search through the Moji I give up green tech that's weird okay I'm just a guess that makes sense to write a check. Here's more than 10 most offensive of Moji's which is really funny the ones that mean that-year-old monkey covering his eyes before but I would say to my top three, but I have used it before the clapping hands. I've never use that when his aggressive like that. What all I think it would stupid the way that indicates motion is it's got those two kind of almost) on the side unit indicates motion picture is inherently 10 really like applause. Now I see it is. This is one that I've never used in my life and I wouldn't because I would agree that it's way too extra and aggressive. The lipstick kiss Mark know that that's it. Now that is weird. Okay, not quite as old as I thought the grimacing face.

Which one is that one virtually all of his teeth know that the :-) one of the huge something smiling with all your teeth's smirking one, grimacing face. I don't know what I'm not sure exactly what that one is I do. I do love the eye roll Moji so I hope it's not that one. Okay, here's another one that makes you look old are you googling it so we know which one is the grimacing face. It's comes up as the one with the teeth for my actual favored ones, which is dear to pivot J the loud crying face so not the one with the teardrop but the one where you've got like tears streaming down your face alive definitely use that one out of my top three will use a lot.

I'm so old are you ready there's more. There's more I don't know why this makes people old but did you know the well is the Moji that look like chocolate ice cream. It's not chocolate ice cream with the eyeballs poop poop with eyeballs. Okay is wait until your son gets a phone that could be his favorite we have that as a pillow in the house accounts 1001 you were getting from Moji yeah I've seen, as I don't use them.

Have I seen them. Sure, people send me supple time but I just don't go to these things made according to thousands of young people. If you use this that the poop of Moji your old look old say this, but I'm around enough young people. If you will please you do makes you all just think it is what it is your old looking shoe was anything you say or do makes you old interesting. Again, this is a ball of gin the years and they listed these 10 of Moji's as the one the one to make you look old and out of touch that part makes that's even funnier, you're out of touch, use the poop of Moji one set in my elementary school classroom at church and asked the kiddos. We had what they brought it up we don't conversation about whether or not that was ice cream or poop. They were sure was poop first grader knows all about that. Why does that make us old and out of touch and by us. I don't mean you I just mean I don't know. I will say this though. It's always funny to me like you offensive Catholics study like a Moji is a come back in the text time for this, start the call to call people out of touch. They want to do you want to touch it would do anything that makes you happy.

That's apparently generally not Jen didn't get that memo.

So all of that is apply Marco actually Jane, I took the quiz earlier meeting like I had to identify his top three Moji's and he had to identify my which is kind of funny, but we want to know the top three Moji that you use it if it makes you old then what Avenues that's our question for tonight yeah exactly own I would reply because I know my top three of Moji's one of them is not even on their got brought about anyway. What are the top three Moji that you using conversation if your agenda the year well you know what Moji's are okay if it makes you happy.

You can use in a Moji were okay with Cheryl Crow but I would say this will makes me really old is on the one that actually uses commas and periods only checks that are currently not knowing how to spell everything because Genevieve your bleeping problem yeah I won't I just confused I don't know all of them so I get them back the most, like which one is happy to help. He's really telling me what is acronyms mean, I'm so old and dumb. There if I don't understand is a good chance of not responding to, just because I don't care enough to ask you what it is that I don't know what you get that either response to the point that if you come back to our we want with me because I don't know what this means. I find top three Moji that you use and there's no judgment here. If you apply the network average every time our local experts is around 14 every day on the lot… Network why the network average every time our local experts is around 14 every day on the lot… Network appeared to be older out of touch. I mean, you're right in lockstep with me you are listening to the after-hours podcast happened. He likes it will condone it, but it happened to apologize to the team this morning was there in the room room room team coaches, players use these after-hours with baby Lawrence Bob Myers, general manager of the Golden State Warriors and now I'm not to break down the warriors chances of repeating as NBA titleholders I I'm not to talk about preseason action, but I do think it's fascinating the way that teams have to close ranks or have to be careful of even their own internal video and audio in 2022 and this is just an example.

It's not the only example I will judge is not an indictment or an excuse for Rachel Nichols but she was also exposed by a member of her own company right so you no longer can trust everyone even inside your own building. I'm not saying that excuses people who do things or say things that are inflammatory or deserve to be disciplined but it should still be internal.

That's the part that bothers me the most about this warrior situation. If you've ever played sports and I don't mean sports at the professional level but certainly there are people out there who played sports at the professional level.

Tempers run hot, especially in the preseason and I can draw my own experience here because I can tell you the number of times that my teammates and I in college were so tired of playing against one another and the worst thing about the two days or long preseason stretches were your only battling to get your own teammates that they all know the place to build a change or it's impossible to be successful because you're playing at people who already know what's coming.

Preseason, which is where the warriors are they've already traveled to the far east. They been together for quite a while just hire a baby against each other, battling against each other each other you want to yell you don't want to see your own teammates. Both Jordan Poole and dream on green or fiery. I'm not excusing dream I have even watch the yelp.

That's how strongly I feel about a video being leaked internally. I want to contribute to that you that dream on green didn't do any wrong I generally don't believe it's ever a good idea to be punching people, especially not those who are on your side and he's been away from the team since his altercation with Jordan Poole that goes back now, a week and we hear from Steve Kerr that they did not suspend drain on and actually he comes back to the team there, ready to clear the air.

We feel like this is the best way after assessing everything for us to move forward never easy matter what decision you make in a situation like this is not to be perfect. This is the biggest crisis that we've ever had since I've been culture really serious stuff we would hope the we've developed enough equity with the experience we have with our fan base with people watching over the last decade, the people can trust us that we've really put a lot of thought into this decision.

As I said, we feel like this is the best way for us to move forward.

Jordan and Reimann got together and a great discussion that I think will help us move forward. They are finding him. They're not suspending him. Jordan wants to move forward. Steph Curry has been vital in the process of communication and trying to keep everybody together again.

I'm not excusing dream on's behavior.

We know that this is the potential for him one when he runs hot same as Erin Donald that when the joint practice where the video was out there media had access to a but in this case were talking about internal practice. There should be no outsiders that should've been no eyeballs know you sent this to TMZ actually bothers me more then between two players that they handle internally and I believe that to make them stronger as a team. It's just there's nothing sacred now anymore because the people can sell video and make a buck that further to do in teams have to know it's after hours on CBS sports radio why the network average every time our local experts is around 14 every day on the lot… Network why the network average every time our local experts is around 14 every day on the lot… Network find your perfect full suit within the Chino customize every detail of their seasonal designs for one-of-a-kind look at a great price and get $50 off purchases of $399 or more@intochino.com code fall update
