What wonderful week number two and P were those teams that suffered the colossal collapses. We had some history made in week number two member, we started a brand-new hole called mortification Monday morning.

Monday we might continue that it was such a popular pole, but there is euphoria in addition to mortification and now were underway. Week three officially on the first evening of autumn. It's after hours with Amy to be in mere moments.

The after-hours game of the week pole and so you can find out on our show Twitter after our CBS or on my twitter and also on her Facebook page and relatively popular one as well because there's a lot of passion and excitement. And right now, every team is still technically involved in these playoff races which is why the hope is still emanating from most NFL cities were live from the rocket mortgage Studios you need to know what it takes for a home to fit your budget and your family. Rockets can will get back to the Celtics coaching situation, but Aaron judge and Albert pools come always so close in their hunt for history, but neither one of them Homer on Thursday night. Of course it could happen on the weekend when were not working. That's always how it that's all right those digital audio clips will keep until were back on Sunday. Right now are pleased to welcome Dale Lally, who covers the Steelers has covered the Steelers since the early 90s now with Steelers.com. It was a pretty impressive start for the Steelers offense going toe to toe with the Browns in the first half of Thursday night football but then the Pittsburgh offense takes this nosedive and isn't able to do a whole lot of anything in the second half. Dale initial impressment. Excuse me. Initial impression and assessment of what you saw on Thursday made from straw.but we what your reported their change. The gotta push them off off target value to the first drug you little and stretch green to drill in the morning to go to Uruguay of the ground in the agricultural illegal rev.Field gauge that impacted the third binder second 19 can convert that onto Paul and then basically Nick shop took over the ground. What you wear for much of the second half of the problem you as well were the offense and defense. Just seem to go through a wall at the same time together where the defense can't get off the field of the offense Stay on the field defense does eventually get the ball back things I keep thinking is that you can only ask the defense to do so much.

We saw that the season opener and I know they did up winning that game against the Bengals, but it felt like a late in the game and then again in the second half against the Browns defense is on the field so much. But eventually their worn-out eventually their tired especially on a short workweek. Your try to run the football and run a lot of it on the grounds that we have an identity.

You know, what you are missing right now all identity of the know exactly what they want to be still early in the season, but the defense has been on the field a lot these first three games with you to ask you to do that is probably too much. I know the final score looks like it was no Cleveland blowout that came about on the you desperation agenda, but they try to make this look a lot worse was no overall the defense held its own against the grounds, shopping, cream hunts are our best running backs in the Browns came into the subject. 200 yards rushing over to your rushing per game get to that this game but the SQ defense to generally go out there and shut that running is probably a bit much to ask you mentioned still searching for an identity with Mitch Stravinsky.

What's the hold for the offense what they want to deal even if they're not there yet. Dale will drop you off the training.

Talk about a good chunk ways will want to build or run the ball better, and I thought that they did both of those things in the first up I got some junk place and they did run the ball effectively. The first half of this game and then it kind of just got away from them a little bit after that first drive starts second half of the really good mount another drive until the field-goal drive in the closing three minutes of the game so you can't have those walls talk about other one for guarding on third down what they were over three on third down for the first half of the key was they were getting to third know they were they were moving the first downs on non-first and second down so they are putting chosen position to have success one for search on third down to the second is going to get it done if you could eliminate some of those third-down plays but getting those strong plays like the way to Georgia victims… That they connected on, you know that that takes care of a lot of that actually defense off a little bit and allows logic errors, you run the football.

Dale Lally is with us fresh off Thursday night football's been covering the Steelers going back to the early 90s is now with Steelers.com and also the host of the drive on Steelers nation radios after hours with a tear on CBSSports that George Pickens catch that you mentioned one-handed off balance grab and relied talk about coach by his comment that he was opened 90% of the time Lafferty that really I every receiver he felt like was open strong words are a rookie. I'm sure Mike Tomlin loved that which is supposed to come first as a chicken and egg thing here is it not G. Harris to open up the coverage downfield or do they need that vertical element to be able to give nod to the room. I think the latter need to move down to your place because there's a lot of crowded boxes early in the season, you know, so getting some of putting that on tape is critical of the fact that they can do that much. You don't really push the ball down the field all that much. The first two games that I didn't need too much against the Bengals because they got the 17th release second quarter just trying to try to sit on the ball open last week against the New England. They talked about a we need to take more shots because I think the average like 4.8 yards per pass which is going to get it done. Of the year in the NFL. So I thought they were better with this game you know I think you it's close as I mentioned before that there doing some good things but they're not dynamic enough offense at this point overcome the mistakes. I know that on Twitter on social media, I'm seeing a lot of rumblings about quarterback change of course in their game against New England.

There were fans calling for Kenny Pickett but how often is that coming up with Mike Tomlin in press conferences all pretty much every time you thought is one particular reporter who works for major network to you as initial name but did ask him about every single time we talked to a middleman in you know that you felt goes when you take a quarterback in the first round draft. You can have those questions strictly when you don't have a unencumbered quarterback coming back in. Kenny Pickett is the you know he's the local hero, you knew that as soon as they drafted him. People are gonna want to see him in the game Steelers Mike Tom was not inclined to do that at this point, you know everything they did in the off-season training camp was predicated on getting Mitch Stravinsky ready to play them ready to be the team start menu took more than 90% of the first team snaps throughout all the other entire processing off-season deal. Didn't get any first team snaps until very late in the process so you know he's not ready yet and the people who want to see him go out there would really be six setting him up for failure. You know I like Kenny Pickett is a prospector think he is a bright future, but we've seen a lot of quarterbacks coming in start as rookies who were much higher pedigreed much higher ceiling. The Kenny Pickett and they struggled in their first season they want to take their time. They want to do this right with Kenny Pickett and that the not to make a knee-jerk decision about except it doesn't seem like anybody spying that explanation from Tomlin or anybody else right now. Well, they can buy what they want to buy what I've been saying all along yes. Take your time with them. Let me know everything.

Like I said, everything that they've done is been predicated on Mitch Stravinsky being the start and so you make that change now you know would basically be throwing out everything she did the option what is the strength of this team. TJ wants unhealthy. Right now, but what would you say Dale are the strengths of this team that they can build on you.

They still rush the passer pretty well without one you saw the ground for getting rid of the ball quickly. Tonight they didn't want Jacoby percent to have to face that pass rush very dangerous guys that defense. Mr. Fitzpatrick is played well the seasoning. Oh yeah, the state of the football away, they want to do. They want to be an aggressive defense of fixed football away up with the do that. You also have to stop the run and you know without one. And there's not quite as good as it could be.

Certainly he's a one man wrecking crew.

It was nice to see him out there and warm-ups that I doubled up and you saw that on the broadcast made note of it pregame show. You know he's out there running wind sprints a 50 yard wind sprints stretching and doing all of what he was getting ready to play game, you would know that the guy was doing with pectoral interest. I think they're close to what getting him back not know people are talking 4 to 6 weeks. It sure looks like it before weeks with wow that is incredible touring package can be back on the field. That's the way it looks. Women are different degrees of four pectoral muscles so I don't know exactly what degree does is put you a great guy was really ramping from the ramp stuff up like you should be coming back is ready to come off like Dale Lally is with us after Thursday night football in Cleveland making that drive back to Pittsburgh. It's after hours with Amy here on CBS. This is the first time in a long time that Mike Tomlin or the Steelers have had to deal with any type of quarterback controversy or change to what they like for you is someone he's covered the Steelers for for such a long time over various eras quote on quote to see this happening with the offense when it's been been wrought this burger for the better part of two decades. Well you live through the Kordell Stewart controversy in 1996.

It was Mike Tomczak and Kordell Stewart and Jimmy Miller battling it out early in the season. But preseason might you know Bill Cowher pulled Miller halftime basically of the opener makes a change so I not seen this before. This is different. You know it hasn't happened with the first round quarterback. So that's a little bit different here, but the you know you make things interesting short barrel hygienist, podcast and Merrills that most of his time or I guess a good portion of his time ripping the Steelers offense humming you know guys are going to be critical especially former players are going to be critical of the Steelers when they don't win the main Mike, only shows the standard standard in know and a lot of a lot of cities.

The standard is just they go out there and win some games or maybe get into the playoffs this work. The standard is different. It's they have an expectation that you know you connect peepers a Super Bowl every year. You are obviously not corporate year, but you better be competing for it. And if you're not guys are going to speak your mind about I tell you every single time the Steelers lose I find people in my social media are calling for Mike Tomlin's head and I'm thinking you want to fire and I take them on my team. I take meds that go to my team tomorrow actually Hall of Fame judging by the you in the last couple years the Hall of Fame might almost be a Hall of Fame coach when he retires if the Steelers we hope you left the Steelers and the Steelers they decided to part ways he would have a job within 24 hours yes definitely what I agree Dale before we lay go you seen Cleveland and Cincinnati now, so the only ASE North team. You haven't seen a person is the ravens. But what are your impressions, you know couple weeks here about the AC North not every team in the North something that's just release right now.

A little bit off and I know Cleveland's doing one right now, but obviously there are missing the quarterback and I spent a lot of money on that quarterback is also, if you think that where I think they are Cincinnati still trying to figure out that offense of lineman and maybe just a joke were what sold the ball too much. They spent money on the line and it's not fiction and you know the ravens tossed out tonight that the chips repacked tweeted out about them.

But given up now. I think five or six, 400 yard passing games in the last 19 games and know we can look at that last year and say well they were missing some guys are all back now is a reason why they went outside Jason, Peter, Paul, they can't rush the pastor and I don't care how good your quarterbacks are the back of the backend. If you check the pastor there marketing bill to cover in today's in FL forever, so I think they'll have some work. You know, I don't know that any of them are there with Buffalo or the Chargers of Kansas City right now doesn't mean that you can't change but certainly right now at least early in the season. They're not know right there with those teams quite yet.

We have seen the fatal flaws in all four of them exposed through just 2+ weeks you can find Dale on Twitter at de Lally LOL LEY_PGH covered the Steelers going back to the early 90s now is Steelers.com and you can catch him on the drive on Steelers nation radio. It's okay to talk to you. Thank you so much for a couple minutes.

It's it's it's an interesting challenge for the Steelers and if you believe Dale Lally that they are not making quarterback change because Kenny Pickett isn't ready Mike Tomlin sticking to his guns.

In fact, Mike, was asked whether or not he's considering a quarterback change after their second loss of the season and that mindset is doing is taping within the totality of anything we collectively get better so there's that question definitively know definitively know that lines up with what Dale Holly just told us and I appreciate Dale and also the fact that his phone was relatively clear, even though he's in the car that the definitive know for Mike Tomlin because Kenny Pickett's not ready and why would you want to feed him, feed him to the wall so to speak. Why would you want to do that we see other young quarterbacks had their development stunted because they were put out there to quickly. Thankfully for Trevor Lawrence. He now has a coach that speaks the same language. Write a coach that was a quarterback in the about himself and to get them on the right track and also Trevor Lawrence is he's been in a pressure cooker for his entire football career. So he gets ready to fold damage Kenny Pickett like Josh Rosen and Josh Rosen could have been. I'm not suggesting that Pickett and Rosen the same guy, only that we don't know what Josh Rosen could have been if he wasn't put in such an awful situation like he was initially in Arizona. He was not ready. Maybe that's the case with Justin Fields, though he's got his legs and and he's really athletically smart young quarterbacks are thrown out there because their first round picks to sink or swim any can be detrimental to their development. So if you're a Steelers fan I would think you want to ride with Mr. busy right now.

And yes, you want the offense to open up and you want things to get a little bit easier for Nadia Harris is easier. Bell cow but you don't want to quarterback change. You don't really because you want Kenny Pickett to be the long-term solution. Not a quick fix that only makes you happy for five minutes. Now I don't know, maybe you'd be great. It's just as Dale said he didn't take a lot of snaps of the first team and he's never seen regular-season NFL defenses.

That's all new.

There are adjustments there are learning curves, sometimes steep for young QB Ryder.Mitch Stravinsky Steelers fans.

All right, you can find me on Twitter a lot radio we got a brand-new after-hours game of the week pole that is up and lie and ready for you.

And yes we take writing votes as well. So Twitter and Facebook 855-212-4227.

It's after hours with Amy. You are listening to the after-hours podcast. You won't have to run our little South Carolina your next and after-hours five guys you write it up when I have my own. There's no way you and now you are one or Friday. Then, happy Friday. The security guard downstairs always say good morning to me when I'm walking in and it's like 12:03 Eastern time. That's just it's not morning. Most of the time when left to my own devices I want to be in bed before midnight anyway regardless of of what my work schedule is my body clock in general body clock I would if I could do anything, meaning no consideration for the work schedule and no pets would be sleep around 2 AM wake up around 10 AM that would be my normal body clock if I could item over the last of my photo I doing over the last time I slept eight hours.

Actually, when I was in Wisconsin I see. Let's see, I was packing and cleaning on Friday.

Last Friday, and I slept only three hours at night. I always have these grand plans of time to get everything done and sleeps six or seven hours before I travel early morning flight.

It never happens.

So I slept three hours. I got to the airport. I got off the plane after traveling in Wisconsin. We went straight to my grandma's little town in the middle of cow country Wisconsin which was a 2+ hour drive. We whether telling it down there. We turned around we came back we went almost straight to a family dinner so I had been other than the three hours of sleep.

I had been awake for a day and 1/2 and when I finally got to bed on Saturday at say 930. I think I last until 930. I slept 11 hours that I did that my aunt and uncle. They were very kind. They just let me sleep yeah 11 hours. That's a rare thing. It may be happens once a year so I don't know why I got that tangent, but just the idea that I normally would be awake until 2 AM anyway because that's the body clock so this show fits me perfectly. 855-212-4227 that's our toll-free lot.

If you want to weigh in on the after-hours game of the week. Or if you would like to talk about anything that happened with Steelers and Browns or the year-long suspension for emailing Joe got the Boston Celtics had coach and if you miss what I said in the first hour.

According to shams tyranny of the athletic there's an article that's on the athletic right now the athletic website initially when Celtics brass found out about this relationship between the coach and a female staff member. They were led by both parties. It specifically indicates in the column that the Celtics were led to believe by both parties that the relationship was consensual. That would explain why there was nothing down in July and nothing came out and there was no red flag and no one was worried about getting suspended but I guess recently.

She told them something different. She indicated that joke I made some unwanted comments. That's the word that shams tyranny uses, according to a source is unwanted comments which means the Celtics didn't do anything about it, they could potentially be in line to face lawsuits for sexual harassment and other and other accusations that corporations are deathly afraid of these days, and should be that type of behavior was allowed to go on for far too long a listener, respond to, because I did tweet about the one year suspension and just the fact that he came out of nowhere and it's days before training camp starts the board that blows me away. A one-year suspension days before training camp unprecedented move by the Celtics there try to tell anybody was paying attention, including the Delta that they are serious about this. And so even as I'm still trying to process what this means for the Celtics and how we know could could be this careless and reckless and have no disregard or have no regard excuse me, have so little regard for the players that he's now left high and dry. Someone wrote back to me and said in pretty much every situation, the employee would be fired. I mean, can I just tell you the number of places I've worked, where there were plenty of men who were sleeping around and none of them were ever fired. It's a more recent development that companies are deathly afraid of lawsuits, sexual harassment, retaliation and coercion that kinda stuff and so it's a different climate in 2022 and if what shams tyranny row in the athletic is accurate, then that's where this fear comes from, and that's why even when they found out about the relationship in July there was a suspension now. We had heard the reports are read the reports last night that the team knew about it and gain some direction guess, depending upon how you interpret potentially told the two employees to cease and desist, but that now there is something different coming from a female employee. There may very well have been some unwanted advances or comments that were inappropriate. These interesting to think about this from the perspective of the team from the perspective of the players. Yes, you joke is a big reason why they made to the NBA finals last year. And so it does leave them in a lurch, the interim coach that will step in, is a member of his staff actually think the guy that would have probably stepped in, took a job at the Utah Jazz this off-season and former boss Danny Ainge anyway. Neither here nor there. The guy that stepping up to serve as interim head coach is on the staff, so maybe there's some consistency there but may players ever trust him again and it's not so much.relationship, I mean people have relationships. The issue is that he put the relationship I had of the team and there's no other way to interpret that he put this relationship consensual or not I had of the team because it's always a stick, a slippery slope in a sticky situation.

Clearly their team rules but that didn't stop him and not saying that he's the only one to blame because there's too it takes two to tango this to people in this relationship, but she thinks maybe a job. I don't know. I don't know who she is ended. I speculates that the speculation is irresponsible, but regardless she's not the coach she's not one of the top employees in the Celtics organization responsible for making millions of dollars like he is responsible for a team that's relying on her. She's not one of the faith of the franchise. That's the reason we don't even know she is responsible for the relationship and for being part of it, but she nearly as much to lose as he moved Oka and because the higher up the food chain and higher up the totem pole. As more people counting on him and more people relying on him. This is on him what you think of the man cheating on his long time. Jan say in the woman being a homewrecker. Blah blah blah moral question, at least not one that were answering in sports radio, the question is, how could he be so careless when he got so much to lose this team. How could he be so reckless. When a team is counting on him.

That's the part that blows me away and don't get me some crap about the heart wants what the heart wants his heart already has a family did. I don't know what's going on there now. That's the part that sucks if there's a lot of people have been hurt by this whole thing and a lot of people just been thrown for a loop.

Days before training camp starts, he should have been considering them either before or during this relationship may be understanding how horribly wrong this could devolve. You can find me on twitter a lot radio also on her Facebook page. Take the after hours game of the week pole and then will try to work in some of your calls producer Jay tells me he hasn't a soundbite from every single team was playing this weekend where to put that to the test sometimes to sly smile on his face like he's been doing some work back there behind the double pained me. I didn't say it. There's a lot of things that I would accuse Jay of being allergic to vegetables and making up words that I can't even use but not slacking or slouching or break you are a banana slug but not when your work is what you were going to the luggage and call me but banana slug a banana slug but just not at work. He works very hard, which is why am to keep them for your number two after that will say, should you still be on relation confirmation on a probationary period. They said no. I was on. Oh, did I say should you still be number bellowed whoops that really how I meant it. I phrased it irresponsibly markers give me a look like yeah yes you did go back and play again will go well. I mean, it is the business right chimed.

I now know is on probation it's after hours on CBS sports radio. Here's our latest board updates going to shut my mouth.

You are listening to the after-hours podcast wind up the pit bull call center all along fly out, you know, the Cardinal's after-hours Lawrence J we merely saw Albert Poole and Erin judge hit home runs. Alas, combined the two of them were probably 5 feet 6 feet short combined is after hours with Amy.

That's John Rooney on Cardinals radio so he teases the fans in San Diego. This is an afternoon game. By the way, with a ball that goes just shy of the wall and just as big a deal actually in the first and he had a single which was more of a low trajectory was a low-lying drive member those days when our pools try to tell us he was a line drive hitter anyway. He was much lower, more like that. Giancarlo Stanton, walkoff grand slam that he had a couple nights ago that one got dangerously close to the wall as well. It just didn't have the height but he had two balls that went to the wall and had the distance.

I just did not have homerun number 690 nights. We haven't seen one from Albert since last Friday.

I said if he can hit one week before the end of the season and that's what he's been doing so he continues to be in the lineup because he continues to produce he's hitting for average over the last month. He's contributing RBI as well.

So our pools still sitting on 698 and get Cardinals are in Los Angeles to play the Dodgers this weekend. I texted with our friend Michael Duarte of NBC LA does that.

Are you really excited to see history this weekend and he said fingers crossed and and that's the last place that Albert played before he went back to St. Louis so if there's anywhere that he would get a dazzling reception and a welcome back. It would be Los Angeles and after hours here on CBSSports the Cardinals with our pools in his pursuit of history obviously are trying to lock up a playoff spot and hold off the brewers for that in El Centro was a Dale NL Central title and they were in danger of getting some apps so wasn't pools, but it was a big blow in the seventh inning, 3162 thought of it is like a again on Cardinals radio. There were a couple of big fly from big flies big fly flies couple of big flies from the St. Louis offense and help them avoid the sweep but one of them was large new bar and one of them are Brendan Donovan who had the grand slam in the seventh inning and even though many Machado homered in the eighth. The Cardinals were able to hold off the Padres rally and as for and in this is happening with the Yankees, to every question seems to be about Erin judge well with the Cardinals as much as they desperately needed this when there now sitting on 88 if you're looking at the NL Central standings. They have a 7 1/2 game lead so they're trimming that magic number against the Milwaukee Brewers, but I get every question really is about pools in his pursuit of history and I love the answer from Lars new bar who's got a front row seat is the machine to machine and nothing surprised at this point, you know all you know success is who he is and what is its minister's sole purpose is to know because of it in person. You know, for this year, but to see what is done and to see documents is elated over his career as a consummate a sequence of it this year to see how he's doing want to sit on. We will elder but not cool about these young guys will never forget the 2022 season and certainly the possibility existed. We were talking about in spring training I was talking about it when pools rejoin the Cardinals. Think about the possibility that he could hit 700 home runs we know is already inside so low in fourth place. All time is past he's past, Alex Rodriguez, but this is a different kind of history. This is baseball immortality. And so here he is on the cost and even Adam Wainwright member where I saw it, but he was talking about how it was the best we get. He could've asked for. I even showed maybe was on twitter.

I even show producer James what he wrote.

He said everything with our pool halls. He got your Melina setting the record for most games started as a battery and then seeing Pearl Jam live for the stop.

That was his big week last week and so all of these guys get an opportunity to to be there and to see it firsthand and that also applies to the New York Yankees so Cardinals get the win there closer to a playoff spot and actually it matters to the Padres to his right because in the National League wildcard standings. What we know. Either the Braves or the Mets will have the number one wildcard there so far out in front. Those two are vying for the NL East by the way Braves lost on Thursday so the Mets now have what is a game and 1/2 lead atop the NL East.

They didn't play on Thursday.

Padres have got 1/2 game lead over the Phillies and the brewers are 2 1/2 games back so wildcard standings crazy that the Padres are what 20 games back of the Dodgers in that NL West, and yet they are in fact a wildcard team assists the disparity and the the wind to the Dodgers. Actually, I end up getting a walk off on a book he bets hit against the Diamondbacks on Thursday so they continue to churn out victories now to the tune of 104 Yankees. Not only had Erin judge but also had playoffs on the line and if you watch this game, the body electricity every single time judge came to the plate. He walked three times and struck out with the bases loaded. So wasn't all positive and there was one more at-bat in the 10th inning the all white monument wall. But in the background but he is personally invested at this point. By the way, I think John Sterling did a masterful job at that call. I know that he's an older guy, and there are calls and he messes but sometimes he sees fly balls as potential runs. He gets all excited. He did not. He nailed that even though it was a couple of feet from the outfield wall.

This is a ball that went to dead center. It was a couple of feet away from being the 61st home ride, which would have tied Roger Maritz for the most ever by a Yankee and American League header pretty windy nights also blown out, Olson was misted with a wonderful nice little walk group graded that you know thought it would be pretty showing to drop it off of Monument Park out there just under not cool night. Neil felt like fall, he might add a little factor in there but put together really good at that. Just pray just under enough you heard the roars of the Stadium crowd. Of course the cell phones were recording the pictures were being snapped the Roger Maritz family, others more of them now and the family very judge. They look like they thought it was out when it comes up just a short, what did happen though as Josh Donaldson walks it off in the 10th with the hits and so this is after Erin judge and the Yankees clinched a playoff spot and are back into the postseason and will see whether or not they end up continuing this big time momentum after hours with a below anywhere fans go to churn on the team behind the scenes and ensuring we see Joe and Ellie keeps her Stadium run smoothly first start is Ranger done anywhere fans go to cheer on the team behind the scenes, ensuring we see a general sense of everything and Ellie keeps her Stadium running smoothly.
