How is your mental health.

I'm listening with Michael Phelps think for me in 2014 when I found myself in a dark dark place where I didn't want to be alive in those four days were noticed in my room by myself.

I wanted to find a different way. I wanted to find a different answer. I was sick and tired of feeling heartfelt and that that's why started to seek help and and and that's when I checked myself from the treatment center is for odysseys. I'm listening to our national mental health conversation Wednesday, September 21 at 6 PM talk saves lives. Local radio stations Range of your favorite team from your hometown and demand that you can completely customize their listening experience, Karen quickly thinks remind your local support to catch up later to listen to and download the free app today and will post to be little supposed to be a little uncomfortable to be the last for the week down the hallway.

Our attempt about Marco and posted again on our Facebook page I limits I've been thinking Marco's praises for 10 years. He used to be a major part of the show going back to Friday Saturday Sunday when we first launched after hours. If you didn't know little little-known fact maybe about after hours.

It was named by Ruth actually named by Effie and we held a contest in the first month that we were on the air and a van came up with after hours with Amy Lawrence.

I still cringe when I think about some of the other names that were suggested for the show.

Because yes, it's a great idea to name your sports talk radio show something along the lines of lady of the night. I mean, some of you are creep stars and you know who you are, so those same people who might try to send me creepy questions were asked Amy anything will get no such satisfaction here, but I am fielding your questions. First time for everything right first time in 10 years or nine years of asking me anything but I will actually be choosing the questions and reading them live on the air and then answering them myself. So we don't to producer J nor J is actually I do know he's feed his family are about to return from a their bit group there big long vacation own and hope there that they had this well J not assailing OPS is harsh welcome back to reality. Topped out when you go a week plus with very little Internet access.

There is almost bit I get this tension in my gut when I do reconnect to the Internet and social media, and I don't want to. I put off as long as possible. I've been to Cuba since 2019. That was my last trip for obvious reasons.

But I know that when I'm there with teams of working with youth and were out in the you know little village where they barely have Internet access that works on a regular basis.

I don't have regular Wi-Fi in my phone doesn't work there any way that my phones in airplane mode all week.

The only time that I get on the Internet is when the pastor of my Cuban family puts me down at his desk and said here right to your mom and we uses dial-up Internet to be able to send an email back home mean that that's the extent of it. No checking baseball scores and and it's only state run TV with tape delayed sporting events that you see in Cuba and very often there weeks or months old and so you spend an entire week being completely disconnected. I member my first humanitarian trip to Ecuador. Going back to the was 2009. These are nine or 10 whenever Michael Jackson died.

It happened when I was in South America and no access to the Internet so you come back you get reconnected. Walla Walla anyway so producer J's been essentially disconnected for the better part of a week on the Gazette a whole lot of access. I've heard from a couple times on WhatsApp but for the most part he's been enjoying his trip with his family and I can imagine that moment when you turn on the phone. It's almost shock when you get back on social lease.

It is for me to know if it will be for him, but always is for me when I'm out of the country so he will not be with us again until Thursday evening. Thursday evening, being the start of week one of the NFL preseason efficiently and of course for weeks from Thursday night's is the NFL season opener. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio or live from the rocket mortgage Studios when you need cash out of your home in a simple way to get it rocket can.

First things first, the home show middle show of the work week.

You're just asking anything with no producer J set free. Sorry to disappoint you think that your questions to me on twitter a lot radio and also on her Facebook page so no bright orange box this week. We don't have that. We just have a the post with. Actually, you'll see the link to our video version of asking me anything on our YouTube channel.

Or you can just go directly to YouTube and want to make producer J happy and let them know how much he was missed. That's what we have to like and subscribe to our YouTube channel, because that blows him away. So either on Twitter or on Facebook were so different side don't have a whole lot to do on YouTube except for doubt that when I need to go back and watch a press conference or some highlights or something at all" music. I will I will say I do music not sincerely for the videos but when Granny Helen passed away, and in the days leading up to her passing away. I had one particular Christian music artist that I listen to for days and days and some of the songs over and over again and so is getting them on YouTube and cut got buried in that hole for a little bit, which was good. It was good for me and helped in my grief, or just got me through a few days so I'll do music on YouTube and sometimes will do some sports stuff on YouTube for the most parts that is producer J's baby so all the videos that you see I have a lot of the creative input and creative license. But he's the one that put them all together so he loves it when you check out our YouTube channel so asking me anything is an hour from now we have a guest coming up in our typical time slot for asked.

Amy Russell Baxter, who was at the Pro football Hall of Fame induction in Canton always has his own unique memories and stories of great one tonight that I hope you'll share with us about Dick for meal who was such an emotional guide such a well respected coach so Russell Baxter plus little preseason prep as I say were closing in on week one of the preseason in the NFL getting some business done even as we get closer to preseason me while Aaron Rodgers pooh-poohing the preseason and and really doesn't see the whole benefit of preseason games. Anyway, at least not for his kind, so will let him explain coming up anything except for Iowa, coming out Aaron Rodgers out that we can talk football with Erin. I'm good.

I'm writing to never hear Aaron talk about anything else but football ever could. Even as I say that, though I'm excited to get to Lambeau Field for week two, which is a Sunday night game against the Bears. That's gonna be a bucket list item to be sure, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the meantime Roger Caddell answering questions about the appeal of DeShawn Watson six game suspension and how this is of course the right of the NFL that was put into the latest collective bargaining agreement goes on circles. There the more important points that Roger Caddell made is the why we play that just before the top of the hour, but will do it again. Why is the NFL appealing the suspension should report fresh, so multiple violations, egregious behavior, predatory behavior and the NFL did appeal and Caddell actually handed off that appeal to Peter C.

Harvey. I'd not heard the name before, but it's a former New Jersey Atty. Gen. and he will hear the appeal. So essentially both sides but there's no timing, which is the challenging part of this right. I don't actually know how this works but I'm assuming that yes, the appeal is not done then DeShawn Watson can continue to work out with the team that were still weeks away. In fact, over a month away from the NFL season kicking off Sunday is four weeks until week one. Remember week one is Brown's Panthers, the NFL little foresight there and so there's plenty of time for this appeal to get done. Just no timetable set not Roger Caddell also talked about the Dolphins sanctions we don't have that audio but it it was on. We actually could get it.

We wanted to. If it's out there. The audio it essentially is him talking about the integrity of the game and how there was no evidence that the Dolphins did take out agree with that.

I don't necessarily agree that Stephen Ross didn't want the Dolphins integrity said in a joking manner because I'm pretty sure that all of the actions of the Dolphins owner indicate that he was not interested in winning that first year with Brian Florez. We talked about it then goes back a few years now, right. The fact that the Dolphins were treating away all of their top players in order to shed salary in order to collect draft picks Stephen Ross wanted to get younger so as Brian Florez filed this lawsuit against the Dolphins only does he allege racism racist hiring practices against the Dolphins as well as other teams, but that the owner Stephen Ross tried to get him to tank games or purposely lose them, and even offered financial incentives if he would do that but I do not believe that you can get players and coaches, especially not in the NFL where jobs are on the line and it's so over competitive.

I don't believe that you can get these guys to agree to tank there is nothing that comes out of that, except for people getting fired and losing jobs maybe be owner can adopt a big picture view any owner is okay with the team sucking one or two years in order to build from the ground up but the same rules will apply to coaches. Coaching staff and the athletes. The marginal athlete specifically who are trying to hang on and win jobs and keep jobs and get their next contractor contract extension. The rules will apply to them in the same way they apply to owners who can take a long view.

Fire them or kick them out. That was the case. NFL fans would do that every five minutes. Jerry Jones would not be the longtime owner of the Dallas Cowboys, although Kaman Dallas as much as you all like to point to. Jerry Jones is the reason why your team hasn't been to a Super Bowl since 1995. He's one of those owners actually cares desperately about winning. There are some owners that you could look at in and maybe not quite as vocal but they don't care as much about winning as they do about making money for the NFL. It's so competitive that coaches are constantly getting replaced and items as we had coaches and coordinators, and assistant coaches position coaches. We just had one fired from Washington on Tuesday because of a difference in philosophy. According to Ron Rivera.

It's so unbelievably competitive.

I know coaches who are out of jobs and they got fired last year and have been able to find one. And obviously there only 32 teams that have had coaches just nothing to sneeze at. There's no way I'll ever believe that the players and the coaches in a locker room actually do tank on purpose. That's dumb. It's a detriment to your own career but I can understand why owners what so when Roger Caddell says there was no evidence of taking that's true and back. The Dolphins played really hard and Florez after starting slowly.

They picked up Stephen once and games in the second half of that season and so he is correct in the way that he responds that there was no evidence that the Dolphins tanked, but it doesn't mean that Stephen Ross didn't want that or didn't try to convince his coach that will be better in the long run. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. You know the Dolphins were slapped with fines and in addition to loss of draft picks and this is after a six month investigation, but those were under anti-tampering rules. So going back to Brady with the patriots and then the box and Sean Payton weirdly enough, there was no no reference at all to. I think the more serious accusations of Florez and there is a lawsuit is they still pending about him being discriminated against and other coaches of color coaches mostly being discriminated against when it comes to hiring when it comes to this Rudy role so that was the main point of the Florez lawsuit. The tingling allegations were secondary really. And yet there was no reference to that at all. So in other words, Caddell talked about integrity of the game, taking clearly did not happen here. That's what he said about Miami. We all left understand our words or actions have implications that we have to be careful yes oh nothing at all about the main point of that lawsuit. I suppose that's at this juncture in the hands of the legal system. Roger Caddell was therefore the introduction of the new Denver Broncos owners $4.65 billion and will hear from them coming up. In addition, Serena Williams, as indicated her intent she would call an intent to retire. Maybe her desire to finally step away. She certainly mentioned family and wanting to grow her family in an article that she did well. It was more of an essay was it was Venus herself writing about her future and it was printed on Vogue.com and so while she shies away from the word retirement and she actually indicates she hasn't even had the conversation with her parents, her husband, they don't really talk about it. She said, and that she's very emotional about it, but she recognizes that the countdown has begun. I so this is all about vote again an essay that she wrote and sent people scrambling to think about the U.S. Open that comes up in early fall. Right now she's playing in the Canadian open actually won her first match in 14 months on Monday so Serena is not yet done but fellow tennis players fellow athletes Americans responding to her intent her announcement. Her essay if you will. I was thinking about actually asked marketability best female athletes of all time at the tough question because word looking across multiple sports. You good talk basketball maybe gymnastics, swimming, certainly tennis whether or not there is an obvious answer one answer probably not, but for sure the sport of tennis and female sports in the United states of America will never be the same Serena and Venus change them. They change what they look like they changed how they sounded, they change the standard raise the bar and the fact that Serena came back after having her daughter and was able to compete against the highest level so impressive. I so much respect for her and so happy for her. She truly does have it all there very few female athletes her age that can say that are that are even still competing. She's trying a triumph in every sense of the word and I certainly hope that she gets will she will get all the adoration there in New York, but I hope that there are a few matches so that multiple sessions of fans can let her know how much she is appreciated how much her legacy and her impact will not be forgotten, will be felt forever on Twitter a lot radio also on her Facebook page top of the hour. Your chance to ask Amy anything. Send your questions directly to me were cruising through a home show weirdly enough on my TV. I don't know what channel this is there is some infomercial about this back at all. Some have pill or drug or vitamin that addresses stomach bacteria and they keep showing these really nasty stomachs.

I did change the channel. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence CBS sports radio you are listening to the after-hours podcast that is so go use the community swing will seven years after hours with Lawrence on boundaries. Radio finally San Diego not only getting a breakout performance offensively and the first homerun from one so no in a San Diego uniform bites are able to get that first win since the trade deadline so Padres beat the Giants 74 and again that was back and forth, back and forth that shadow with a three run Manny Manny to you Manny Machado with a three run home run in the ninth inning and Juan Soto with a homerun, a solo shot just shy of 400 feet earlier in the game so the 22nd for Soto the 20th for Machado and I suppose there's something neat about getting that first homerun after a big trade but also to get in that big old gorilla off your back because they were desperate for a win.

One way to start a witness to his first. Also, just to get manager back from some of the father decided more a moment like just a good thing going. These great-looking gloves: baseball you come here and play in front of you know 40 some thousand every night. Here is great place to play purchaser that a couple times fans love him here acclimating very quickly so that's Bob Melvin who now has one Soto in his lineup. And yes, they get off the Schneiders get that first win after they retool their lineup and added pictures and haters and everything else they need nametags in the clubhouse but one Soto gets his first homerun with San Diego and they more importantly get the window.

The Dodgers won again.we've heard this before every single hater in their lineup got at least one hit and I believe they also had a pinch-hitter yeah I trace Thompson was a pinch-hitter.

He got a hit to all 10 guys who hit it created me still that Cody Belanger is sitting in the nine holes of former NL MVP Knight always had two pretty tough years at the plate, at least in terms of average but now they have no issues subbing guys in pulling guys out 10 different haters go to the plate and every single one of them gets at least a hit. So the Dodgers are chugging right along. They got the best record of major league baseball now nine consecutive wins in a 16 game lead 16 game lead atop the NL West. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio and marketability is here so were you planning on playing the Mariners final call.

I don't have it you know. Well, we've got it for you would like to listen to it together.

Oh yeah Korea is on the Mariners radio network is again it went well over four hours against the Yankees. It was scoreless in the bottom of the 13th so regret is that I love the energy and the explosiveness that the volume that can like me, a man after my own heart doesn't matter what time of the day or the night.

No joke. This is a scoreless game into the bottom of the 13th and the Yankees. If I find Aaron Boone. They would hate me, but I'd make them get up at 8 AM and do a baserunning clinic, at least the ones who stunk on the base paths and there were several of them. So it was three innings in a row and and Marcos here we are watching the game together a little while ago.

Three innings in a row where they run themselves right out of scoring opportunities and then in the top of the 13th that happens, what, 10, 11, 12, there were into a couple of double plays they try this double steel and and they are one of the lead runner so 10 1112 and the 13th loaded with one out and I still can't score right and so the bottom of the 13th. The Mariners mean just at that point it's it's playing the odds yeah I don't know. I'm not sure I've seen baserunning that poor since the bad news Bears market was all for me to start with, but intend to try to steal third try to time it actually thrown ball you.

Usually the problem with the picture still had like us get the aggressiveness there but you gotta be smart in the first and second nobody out situation regarding scoreless game your lectures go into our ghost regional on drive gets picked off the double-play. I think it was two innings in a row yet of the Yankees only sent two batters to the plate or do and still hard to do this because you got the ghost runner at second to start getting to the got doubled off twice. They wanted only sending two guys to the public is hard to do that.

It's hard to score. We got Augustine at second base for three straight innings. It was brutal.

It really was a member.

I hear you are coming out early simple because if they did more possibility looked at the Yankees were in our mess. This is six losses in seven games 12 and was 19. There you know since July. Don't know the exact number. It's something like 14 and 20 since July 1. That's not a small sample size. This team is Scotsman issues you know and this is something you and I talked about in play waste that outing from Garrett Cole and Louise Castille his first home start for the Mariners in the got traded amazing. The game still scoreless when it went seven and Castille went eight and call me today because is been all fullest restarts, including the last one to get the Mariners five days ago regular six runs with realtors. The first thing so he bounced back nicely.

This is the third time Castille shut down the Yankees in less than a month once with the Reds and twice with the Mariners. This is a team right now that skillfully and that the guy that did the torn three times in less than a month is a guy that they should make sure we were in pinstripes. At this point where you have everything Barco you can have all the toys in the toybox.

No, that they needed one book but intend was automatic to me just because it was a lot of competition tomorrow in my thought process.

Castille was the guy that was the best starting pitcher that was available in the Yankees that you know what broke I will go Frankie Matos and you can't settle in that spot. I thought it was ridiculous. Then they turn around and compound the problem, I give away Jordan Montgomery exhibited defensive centerfielder can play until at least September because God put us at they don't. None of this made a lot of sense to me and out and you start to see it and everybody keeps telling me for the last month.

Relax.

There still good walk off the ledge and I keep saying I think the team we came into the year, thinking they weren't that good.

They got off to such a ridiculous start never talk about historic now all of a sudden they've scuffled understand all well this is the regression to the mean. And my problem is I see the holes and I think the start of the beginning with everyone #about the Yankees. This is what happened with the Maras was early. This is the real team that's the problem will they've lost seven of their last 10 and as you point out, have just the one when since the trade deadline and all these moves, however, right now they are tied with the Astros for best record in the American League and they still have attended a half-game lead to every time you take a step back, it seems like the rest of the AL East responds the Blue Jays of only one half of their last 10 games the raised same position.

The Orioles are not a challenge to win the division but they are actually the tenets surging in the valleys right now. Yeah there amazing is about last night. Best story in baseball this year though the Mariners could certainly be that they can finally end. What is a 21 year playoff drought and here's another large, are you ready you can use this in your update if you like.

In the last 44 games, the Mariners have the best record in baseball 31 and 13. I know that a giant wintry, whatever with funds of the brick was a 14 game like that. I didn't realize was that good for that.

We I mean they don't maybe get the credit similar to Baltimore because they're in divisions where the leaders have set such a torrid pace, but the Mariners are very much the wildcard race as are the Baltimore Orioles and so on we go into the month of August. The bulk of August. The dog days of August and Marcos got the rest top of the hour. Your chance ask Amy anything.

So send your questions to my twitter a lot radio into little different tonight our Facebook page to know I'm not getting into your question about who wins the Super Bowl. Stop it you were listening to the after-hours podcast after hours we like you is like us, welcome to after-hours CBSSports radio door of the thank you sir. My fastest possible thing to me to Amy. Miss you all can't wait.

Cheers, Lawrence is gaining anything directly with producer J goes away.

I mean what you think we are going to fold with maybe maybe he did, I mold I predated producer J this business and I'm sure that some boy when he decides he needs to make a career move that will survive without him, we will post a producer J as well. But don't all that because we want him to think that we checked we were barely hanging on by a thread without him when he returns okay so that's our deal. Just me and you just let them know that the show wasn't nearly as good without him even if you didn't notice that after hours with a just fake it is after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBSSports radio 855-212-4227 on twitter a lot radio on our Facebook page 2 so excited to see your questions coming in and not going to do the category, the producer J does not get to print them out on a ramble through them on Twitter and then Facebook, and the ones that catch my eye and I think it be answered relatively quickly.

I will do and so it probably won't be the same but you know what change is good for us and our comfort zone. It's good for us but Dr. Bob was in Rhode Island. Welcome to after-hours yeah below 80 hello my night school and you will read again committee wash all the problem with it yet did IT you up all know all you can clean me up and I tried to get used to do the hollow bull trout. Oh sweet Baumbach what happens. One of the guys a lot.

One is making a false grad your you because someone was behind you on the other. On the eve that's unlikely you just naturally did go beautifully and was like, and I I actually know we Baumbach but they had certain refereed lowlight that they had remember this actually it was fun yeah yeah and all my fun. Got a picture with you all get your email online a minute and send you the picture later on, let's. I think what I want to also say the just like in the going to be back in my school. They thought they got a go all SWAT going to be back sometime later this year at school. Imagine that many 20+ years later, 2008 know you to be 14 years later that they going to bring them back and what what I wanted. I wanted to mention a couple things about the book then only because I was online for like an hour and 1/2 and that it the I did get on because what happened in the switch at 530 on the radio switch to the overall I got to I got to our Boston affiliate yes like many affiliates, they do local programming at a certain point during my show.

So yes, I understand now here's what I want. Date the youngest ever want All the world. Theory probably yet one years old.

Imagine being happy again. Besides, Ms. Jean blog at 26. We died. But at 26 years old my looking for that giant lighting that was clean and then pending. Vita he's calling so wall the world very yet pretty amazing. We enjoyed I enjoyed talking about him and talking to people about Vin Scully last Wednesday on the sad occasion of his death, but I didn't expect it. We did an entire four hour show about Vin and and yes called 25 World Series and made history as the youngest broadcaster ever to be behind the microphone for World Series game and and yells all the other things he did that work out of this world and one the other long, you'll all want to run out and get mad every time the game comes up version and double wall side from home – better with him. Vin Scully in 1982. So they went with Pat, all in the boot booth at that time, but little people realize how well he was in football, football, red Barber how to do a game at Fenway Park media realize broadcasting from the all the way not to boot didn't bring anything so we are even occult, but you cannot even tell pleasing well that the standards are broad pastors. The number of times that we are freezing cold or superhot, or in awkward positions or bad angles or can't see. One time I had to call an entire college basketball game, holding a phone because my quick didn't work. I mean no we survive a lot as broadcasters and pocket was hot know actually that was well was on the road. I think about it. Dartmouth actually where I did the game but I did do that game for Hartford.

Yes, I do not I'm not. It is too far for me to drive for I did for couple years after I took this job here the New York City area but it's too far to go, and hard to be able to take a week of vacation.

When I would be working so I don't do anymore but I do enjoy those memories of Rhode Island and certainly Newport the tennis Hall of Fame.

Bob, thank you so much for calling. It's good to talk to you yet you call back again. Sounds drastic you do that I'm good to connect with you that goes back to my pre-network radio days actually Providence, Rhode Island was my last stop before I made the jump to network radio. We had our debut of Detroit Lions on hard knocks on Tuesday night and I am all about the Dian Campbell drops all about the Dean cable moments, but honestly Jamaal Williams stole the show, at least initially, did you hear the speech that he gave to his teammates. Now, the second season in Detroit. He spent the early part of his career in Green Bay 11 phone over the day the minimum of effort. Do not give up firewood entire last year. I didn't care about so what about the PO adopting the Lions in 2022. Because if nothing else, they will be a fun ride last season 313 and one and finished in the basement of the NFC North Dean cable, though he's got plenty of a motion to match Jamaal Williams are sure to draw a model router were removed to do it without report cards on a ghoulish work you think about is you guys think about is you will contribute to virtual I live not a bleeping lunatic.

You have to tell people that you're not a bleeping lunatic. Well, like I tell people what I used to. I don't anymore. Now I just go with my one of my favorite quotes of all time. Find people in life. You are your kinda crazy. Speaking of crazy yellow crazy coming up next were to try something different.
