Went through a final show of the work week and it's been a blur. I did not even football season yet and it's been really busy and interestingly enough we got more calls about live goal versus the PGA tour that we have anything else this year. I by the way right now in my hand, have a peach that's larger than a baseball. J look at that site.

So Jane I play catch with usually only manage it. During one commercial break, but we both have our gloves here and we have both the sample and a baseball or I do and so J whenever he gets to pick pick the baseball I always pick the salt by the better for your arm but anyway right now the baseball is been sitting here on my console because we were playing catch and we were using the softballs the baseballs been lying around and I just pulled this peach out of my bag. I got these at the grocery store earlier this week, this peach is bigger than the baseball looks like a larger school like solar system project and such a pretty color loon could be a planet. No doubt, etc. do you think it surprises people to know that we play catch.

During commercial breaks times the truck was anybody to what meaning like were weirdos that we play catch. We play catch and YouTube videos. What I miss know what what you mean. Now why would people look at our YouTube videos on things always so because we do fun things outside of work will then we must be doing fun things during commercial breaks to we don't always get to it. So not so hectic last night was so hectic that I barely set down what I wasn't talking on the air but yes we do, why JJ had to go out and get his gloves elected in his car. Mine is always in my car because you never know when there might be an opportunity to have a catch. I will my brother and my nieces were visiting last week. He and I went down to the local schoolyard in my town we play catch for a while. It was so much fun, except that he is not very accurate when he throws so I had to stand in front of the fence because I need to stop. Anyway, Jane.

I play the hallway. So far we have not broken a window though.

We've had a few parent throws great in the wall those calls mostly from OJ mostly from the diamond on pretty accurate extremist groups did you say to me will be but not the hallway anywhere now because when the ball bounces off say ugh a dirt infield or grass. It it cherubs differently and bounces differently than what it does offer whose title: Ryan offered title floor know there's absolutely no reason freedom practice on tile floor. Never know what we're play after our last YouTube video we are playing out of fields. Then we I don't mind doing pop-ups and ground grounders but not all, the title floor 70 can lose a tooth that way the ball bounces up and you go down to get it damn right in your mouth you could know.

Thank you, that's not happening I'm never feeling a grounder from you in the building on the 10th floor tile at our feet will we you better watch out if I buzz the tower the next time I get the ball will see how close the ball comes to your head. You know I'm tomorrow you know I'm far more accurate than you are good at close range will throw it out yet know. I do like to show off and throw it hard to the ball pops in the minute.

That's true. The shadows in the holy or horrible could barely see over one half my goodness, here's 1/4 call someone who you know it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio or live from the rocket mortgage Studios when you need an expert to help navigate the home loan process rocket can. I don't OJ was that whining was that a little bit of Leica self-pity kind of whining no no whining nutritional notes to notice it was an observation really not using drugs old active use arrival to catch the ball, just to do with the shadows out there don't discourage us.

He struggled to catch the ball. Shadows using the late Trey Lance is wearing tonight after the game did not go tonight. Sorry. And I guess technically now most people are on their Friday morning which generally would be really excited about, but I feel like I didn't sleep yesterday so it's still my Thursday night he's wearing bright orange. I love it anything like Kyle Cruz was offered months ago. No water, no, it's not anything like that at all.

Actually it's a collared shirt but it was bright orange was my point and also my point.

We don't have any Trey, Lance, so that was the other boy okay you know I don't get preseason scores because that's against my religion and they really don't matter. What does matter is development and preparation and we are in our final round of preseason and we've got oh so much QB news to share with you so you will be breaking down the first game that matters. The bursting that counts. But until we get there. We got preseason action to talk about Trey Lance leave the Niners a first-team offense to three empty and what is his final preseason before he takes over as the Niners starting QB which was cleaner just from a whole, but not can I make too much of it you know one of them gives us two drives and given three weeks and want to give him a little more there, but want to me opportunities and got some long down distances which may itself so you had the K the city cheese and the Green Bay Packers and then you had the Niners also playing as well. I know that these games are getting big ratings. Absolutely that's the part that so interesting is that your you're getting these games almost as like prime time prep for the cruise as well and so they're getting a little bit of work into. So taxes were hosting the Niners did not score the game gets preseason so what is the matter, they didn't score sheets and Packers didn't score the way that you would expect them to score during the regular season patrimony homes did not play. He was on the field initially for the tribute to Hall of Famer Len Dawson who passed away this week and we did not see Aaron Rodgers. Of course I Jordan love they'll appreciate having on the sidelines in order to give him counsel and pick his brain is have the right of their camaraderie with old seem probable regards Rector Co. Street looking, so deftly hopes it would be like a good income so I don't think they have an option. Do they hate you know what code well if you're Tom Brady you do, you know, I felt like showing up for tonight gave you mind if I just watch on TV from Jordan love through another interception in this preseason game.

I made a handful of them but this is all we get to see them. Jordan really with mean they drafted him in the first round to play the preseason did we miss one preseason stretch to because he was injured.

That was last year.

Poor guy. This is not going the way that they anticipate as a dry Aaron Rodgers refuses to retire.

I just like Tom Brady did New England so they betrayed way to bigger below. It's after hours theory to be a sports radio sticking in the NFC North. For now we know the Packers have dominated this division for years. Not because of Jordan. Love now we'll see if any of the also ran to me the challengers in that division can make the noise. There are a lot of people who are on board with the Lions if for no other reason than Dean cable rocks for no other reason then it shuts fine IDI to Q1 down the way open the bar to be jump off, the lines would like me will change their culture will become a winning team. Every game last year which I think was a good sign. Do they have the talent this year to be able to compete with the top of the NFC North, which is of course the Packers are Dean cable right now is Jerry Goff not actually excited that might even be an understatement about what happens if Goff gets injured Tim Boyle by the way was behind Goff we need is we need somebody to really take the learning sure when somebody needs to step up out of the two I thought they both progressed last week. Now somebody needs to step up and one the soft French plaintiffs who should place more torture of the football first downs are more rigid on the red zone score touchdowns force went so simple. Tim Boyle and David Blau, but in black started before, but Goff obviously if they see him get injured or he gets lost to injury. Like most NFL teams. There aspirations to drastically change flexed. I can get flex Kirk.

I think they still the quarterback in Minnesota. It's weird because even though they got a brand-new head coach it's like nary a peep out of Minneapolis so far this season and Kurt got a unique way of keeping perspective even when there's been a bad practice mouth right now with Greg's weapons. We do make some leisurely okay forget that and no state fairs are the days of Rome is over that my boys are going on that so looking forward to that a few days.

I love the state fair, try to convince producer Jamie to go to the New York State fair just refund you can imagine the YouTube videos that we would come up with state fair to do You go through the Barnes with all the animals which are amazing and then we could do videos from the top of roller coasters at fairs that usually have the big hole in the middle and the chairs that you ride up and then they hold they suspend you the very whole and then boom just drop you all that is the best. Would you do that absolutely I would do that. Roller coasters are play games the ball the except that you would not be nearly as accurate as me you okay we need to go the New York State therapy so much fun and not to mention they serve cheeseburgers on glazed doughnuts and Fido like I knew the Allied to say was like crazy food glazed donut with a cheeseburger and I'm telling you, you have not lived in you've eaten that ride with the different doughnuts fried double fraud. Okay, okay, where do you like one up me what I'm talking about you pretty greatly cheeseburger on a glazed doughnut. Okay back to her QB news I got derailed by the state fair.

But thanks a lot Kirk cousins, the NFC South now includes downgrading these returned from his goal. If you will.

This is after he returned from his retirement and inquiring minds want to know. Todd Bowles will he play in the last game Saturday. Everyone is healthy will play important for game continuity know we have some new guys on the old line revenue got that receiver so that I have in practice together when it is them in the game with certain situations is the flow of it no matter how long it is. We just need the. Also, I do admire Todd Bowles and his commitment to this idea that Tom Brady had to have time off he had to have time off to take his family to the Bahamas because they pre-booked this vacation back when he was retired. I mean stop it and yet he is sticking to his guns that Brady needed to get away was in the situation that we talk about was important. I wouldn't of done it so obviously I have a counter relationship as well do the coaches with a lot of the players and they all have private thing that they come close with his just came to light more than the others and we won't sway away from that we don't give nobody breaks just to take breaks. Note he went to the Bahamas. I suppose importance is relative and yes, Tom Brady did have a family vacation. We now know that to be true, and maybe didn't book it before he came out of retirement. You want to cancel on your family. So I certainly understand that. But let's not pretend like this was some big emergency is anything I know you don't know things it's after hours here on CBS sports radio law. A lot of people looking at the Philadelphia Eagles as a team to watch a dark course, if you will.

After they were in NFC wildcard last season. How we rose man is this a quote make or break year for QB Jaelyn heard were rooted for money and we want him to be the guy and we also want to make sure that he has a chance to be successful, we will make sure you protected upon that offense on a strong and that is weapons or not sin in there and go on like this is unfair to him. Hopefully we done that and I'm really excited for the opportunity that we have with him in our team met Roseman on CBS sports HQ another team to watch is Miami. If for no other reason than tightly kill keeps talking about how to entangle. Below is the most accurate quarterback in the history of the planet while he's at it again. This time he just wants you to know that you cannot miss the Dolphins when they're on offense seasonal, though it everyone excited about is ready to see this be no just the know just a guys plant one another and everybody's is ready meso on this is just silly or what is going to be a great season for the Miami Dolphins the skies the limit.

You know Walmart had a chance to know be here soon associated and shot had a chance to to this was to you know sling football row and the guy can Ashley throw the ball. You know all of the few you know and you know he has so many weapons. You know, at his disposal. Get your popcorn ready. We are channeling TL, but Tyree he's almost to the mouth.

Now I get it.

He thinks this is offense is going to be amazing, but it's almost like he's got to talk to just to prove it to himself. He said out loud are in the AMC North is a quarterback competition for Pittsburgh.

Not so for the Browns.

It will be DeShawn Watson's job when he returns for week number 12 for now it's Jacoby percent will be on the field in the final preseason game for Cleveland to see what we were doing the drugs to Jacoby's and therefore feel like he needs more time for looking at certain places of full speed in a game setting will do that, but it's just a constant communication with the coaches mature with Kevin Stefanski, the Cleveland Browns course without their starting QB for the 11 game suspension and then the $5 million fine. That was the settlement with the NFL right, let's talk about another team that Jacoby percent used to QB and that the Indianapolis cultivated they gone through a revolving door quarterback over the last few years they got interlock retired Jacoby percent was the starter. Then they went for Philip Rivers for a year they brought in Carson when she was ordered off the field and now they have met Ryan and I'll be honest, all I hear is raving out of Indy about Matt Ryan and the way that he's change the culture brought maturity.

Obviously, experience, and Frank Reich loves it very methodical and disappointed.

And that's kind of our approach. Just come follow his lead. His temperament whose leadership style, the way he plays tempo and out of the huddle, his command, I think we all feel that as an officer think the team feels that so just jumpstart on. I think she's really not work to the point were for like he's got full grasp of the offense. Now we can start nuance and things start working with receivers about little things to tighten up a bit more staying in South Matt Ryan get all the experience in the world for Trevor Lawrence. It's just his second year, but he's got a new head coach, one who is also a former QB the NFL a lot like Frank Reich and back Frank Reich and Doug Peterson used to work together. They were part of the tenant whether part of the coaching staff but they were in office obtained him that hope to win the Super Bowl for the Eagles a few years ago and so Trevor Lawrence is God's. He's talked about the wisdom and the perspective that comes with the head coach to play the position in the NFL got fresh goals now coming out of training camp individually towards the mortar Started to try to limit turnovers soaking August 3. So last year in a refillable over law put you toward windows and turn over law so that was a big emphasis on the also dismissed from the system. No, don't go from one system to another and not have an address carryover from your one or two I really wanted to meso system and know the ins and outs and feel great about it. Come week one drug training camp. I really feel like a done in August. There's more to do, but I feel really comfortable system should be interesting to see how Trevor Lawrence elevates his plane only because he's got year under his belt, but also because it could fit the worst possible rookie head coach combination in the history of the planet. Okay, maybe that's hyperbole, but it was not a good situation for Trevor Lawrence urban Meyer back in the broadcast booth for now and Trevor Lawrence's got someone who knowingly speaks his language but is God's Super Bowl win on his resume in Peterson.

Finally, in the same ASD South division Ryan Tina held was the Tennessee Titans starter for now and this will lead us into what were to talk about next, but he's actually a huge fan of these practices that feature two different teams on the same field leading into a preseason game. Great work in August the last week. You know it's it's looks and people you have been going again so all you're getting exposed to more defense, more personnel, which is going to make a better writer, your compete. Things are to be perfect, but you can learn from the tape and next time a similar situation comes up vanilla you can learn from the tape who was responsible for the big brawl when the Rands and bangles were doing their joint practice thing and actually had to end early.

Using the video there's video their photos out there. Aaron Donald taking exception to some of the bangles and their actions so they had to put the kibosh on that because tempers were running high. I will let you hear what Sean McVeigh had to say but also Zach Taylor we seen out more and more of these. I mean this is its an opportunity to run through your progressions as an offense to run through your plays as an offense against a defense that doesn't know what's coming.

So yes there is value in it because your matching up against people who are actually going to play defense without having any preordained knowledge of what you're about to do. At the same time we seen guys get injured and we seen a bunch of these fights break out to so we'll talk about that coming up. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio you are listening to the after-hours podcast after-hours with the Lord be that neither Sean McVeigh nor Aaron Donald walked away. Following the RAM Super Bowl and then I'm anxious to get the thousand field I understand why the practice skirmishes and fights break out. I get it. Tempers are running high. These guys are anxious to get on the field. A lot of them are just done with practicing against their own guys. A lot of them are done with practicing altogether is ready to go and I understand it at the same time, it would be absolutely tragic if someone starter got hurt and missed an entire season because of some stupid fight. In a practice, so there's a fine line you have to walk you want to be able to try out your offense or try at your defense against a team that doesn't know what's coming that is unfamiliar. There's value in it at top speed without actually having to tackle blah blah blah but may it.

I thought the brawls for dog days of summer would be on the document right now and then we get basically ringer benches clearing brawl but it's seemingly a daily headline in the NFL with these joint practices and the latest Scott Massey with the bangles and the rams the two teams that met in last year's Super Bowl Sean McVeigh about what happened with his team and Cincinnati. The first thing I would say is we did good work guys. Over two days missed a little bit at the end thing I'm glad about exactly what instigated it. In some instances and each other in my understanding is that we got hurt to make a bigger deal than what it is to look at point fingers on but I think just like say their teammates vice versa.

Things you don't know what I am glad that my understanding is, nobody got injured in this most thing just so last. His work in social work in the scope of what is now called up working until the placenta as though neither code seems real concerned but you do here. Sean McVeigh mentioned that it's most important that nobody got hurt and that's the part that makes me nervous. We had never who was at the was at the it was the patriots and the gosh show Charlotte Wright North Carolina sorry was it was the Panthers. Was it was doing that in Carolina they were going through joint practices, and they had a couple brawls breakout. I think it was in fact Matt Jones is right in the middle of all of that.

If I remember correctly, so I understand that there's value in these types of practices because you're working against guys that don't know your schemes but I always get nervous because you lose one of your starters in a melee or a fight like this. And man.

All of a sudden it just seems like a really stupid idea to have ever done that are taken at risk what you hear. Both coaches say there is value in it. Now in this particular practice where you may have seen the videos J if you want to put up videos or photos on our show Twitter after-hours CBS Leo Collins is right in the middle of things.

Aaron Donald actually has helmets in each hand, and he is swinging them around while Collins is throwing punches.

You had players from both teams all over the field just John and going at each other. So it really did spill out from his this one play to the two benches and everything else and neither the team nor the players are going to say much more than that because there's media back again because there's cameras and there's photos everywhere. Well it becomes something that people are talking about let's talk to Jim who was in Cleveland he wants to talk about it.

Jim what you think. Jim Jim is decided that it's not worth talking about all you can find me on twitter a lot radio also on her Facebook page again. Most important is that even though it got skillfully that the word that Zach Taylor uses like that is like simply or Shepley, skillfully, skillfully, is the fact that nobody was hurt and it was essentially these teams, taking exception to contacted the little bit too hard at defending their guys and you want to get work and you want them you want to be safe in case you're wondering, the NFL does not hand out punishments or penalties when it comes to practices it's up to the teams to police. It's up to the teams to decide if it crosses the line and somebody needs to be back. Can't imagine anyone to be punished. That seems ridiculous. You put that out there on a field with these 13 humans will then you're going to have to recognize that these things might happen if there's too much contact with member. There's not to be tackling there there, close to wrapping up.

It's more like a flag football type of situation. So that's generally what sparks these conversations or fight so this was an extreme and I'm even watching it right now. Again, there's video and photo out there on twitter you're not supposed to be tackling if you're first-team defense are facing a first-team offense, you're supposed to be essentially ending when the whistle blows and the play supposed to stop this kind of got crazy. Me, there's a there's a big group of guys in the middle and there's guys punching and shoving it just it really it really became out of control, which is why they canceled the rest of that practice but the NFL is not stepping in at the NFL allows teams to practice against one another to do multiple days of joint practices that that's what they want to do and recognize that these things could happen, but the league does not police. These essentially it's up to the teams if they need to impose discipline.

It's up to the teams in this case the rams of the bangles with the patriots in the Panthers, and I've never ever heard of a team punishing or suspending a player any discipline whatsoever over a fight in a practice that we've heard of guys getting discipline when fights break out in their own practices that Steve Smith comes to him when guys punch each other in their own practices because that's not what you want that's I mean that's playing with fire. When he got these joint practices, though generally they are just try to get off the field without everyone will with everyone still keeping all of their limbs intact but I did hear some chatter to Cleveland about Aaron Dahlen why he should heal cigarette off took a little too far.

He did, but I don't think that the NFL could step in and start suspending guys or disciplining guys for joint practices.

Are you kidding we can kill somebody by swinging those two helmet swimming around a lot of couples okay will that his own coat.

Leo Collins was punching people he was throwing punches. I think you should. I'm not calling for suspension, but if you did get suspended for what he did during our practice.

I think I'd be okay with it suspended for what they prefer to know for the regular season is no way we could.

We've destroyed Miles Gary when he did it to the same thing. It's a joint practice to say my duties swinging his helmet to try to kill somebody is not trying to kill anyone number one number two it's not the same thing is when you are in a game and you know that there are rules about personal conduct, and you know about the unit what the referees are looking for what they're calling that this is a practice I absolutely agree with the teams policing themselves and the players them to they should know that the the risks of losing someone someone getting hurt. But the NFL police practice is is ridiculous.

I just feel like when you're taking helmets and swing them another person on the ballfield that the rams should man up and suspend their number one defense in playing in the entire player in world wars move.

Oh, I don't think there to do it either. Literally not.

I do not think the NFL should be stepping it you are insisting on property practicing against other players. You know this is going to happen. Tempers order to run hot, you're not supposed to be tackling guys get wrapped up and they get frustrated. There's nothing to be that kind of contact. You know, there's a risk here so if the cell can't make this something like that helmet that I think really soldiers over the top of the seas will punch you it's very different to me. I think helmet is you could kill somebody to kill them by punching the rams to do.

It's up to the NFL know I got to drop the rightmost and wrong.

I just I think Don was a little more than just a regular practice fight did he hit anyone. She sure as hell tried but he didn't. So then what you're asserting that guy actually punching someone and connecting is not using a helmet to helmet is using a home is a weapon which is the face and cause a concussion, sure, but I helmet them in the face of the hospital not necessarily happen during that break that game.

The reference to some go the hospital. We are lucky we are talking about. Anyway, my point is, it's up to the teams it's all the NFL, the start policing joint practices. That's ridiculous is beneath the league you police yourself. There's some things that you need to man up and just do on your own though and in Chile it's all fun and games till somebody loses your star player, but none then of course, these teams might think differently about it. But these are guys that need to be responsible for themselves and for their teammates.it's after hours with Amy Lawrence. You are listening to the after-hours podcast after hours we like you like us go for very all following this he's differ on joint practices may and Malays breaking out think if you're to take that risk and walk that fine line then it's up to the teams.

The NFL cannot be like policing your joint practices. Could you imagine I played five sports in high school I played college basketball and softball.

Could you imagine the the NCAA policing our practices. Now I have no problem with the NFL not policing the practices is the fact that Aaron Dahl took his helmet often used as a weapon, which I think goes beyond our normal scrimmage or normal scrum. That's the extent helmet merely was a couple of Cincinnati Bengals's anybody you saw the video you saw is intended people well, but he didn't, but I don't. I still get intent to murder trying to murder someone. Either way, the fact if it's not the same as what happened when the Browns game because it's not a game.

It's a practice it's not the same thing again. I'm with you of the rams want to sit down, to be like do.

Don't you ever do that again. You could've hit one of our own guys is not a football player but it's also not on the NFL to step in and do go through the tape of every single thing you ever see a guy you know it hasn't already happened.

There's no video of it somewhere. It is not only NFL to go through and watch practices of taper practices me. It's not only NFL to do that. I just can't.

That's ridiculous.

These are grown men and their practicing for a season and the apples we policing practice is helmet you draw the line. Absolutely nothing else. Everything else is you know you your helmet and then try to swing for the Annabelle step, then I think that's right. You men. These are grown men.

If you want to suspend your your defensive player of the year, then go and me that's on the rams, the bangles want to guess J they were all acting like Jack and one of the players try to play with. You don't know that I want to go. You could see all of it right you watch every field, every joint practice every fight. Did you like this.

If this were to swing it.

It would be viral just like you know they didn't happen viral when I speak will you please let me finish.

Thank you. How do you know it hasn't happened. A part of practice where there have been no media reported on written about if there was no media, how would anybody know you think the players themselves or to come out and be like.

I know got to agree to disagree.

Well, considering that it doesn't matter because the NFL is not stepping in minutes. This is what they do they allow these teams to police themselves and the risk is that you couldn't have a guy get injured big time and that's where the fine line is you want them to go would be intense but you absolutely can't can't mandate how it's to go because then you're taken all of the actual like edge on it. It is a fine line.

It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio just a couple of minutes before we hit the top of the hour here but I am I am I have been cringing and also fighting my emotions over the accusations that had been made against the Buffalo Bills punter who was a rookie and maybe you saw the details or read the details at some point on Thursday but he and two of his former San Diego State teammates are accused of gang rape of a minor, a 17-year-old civil lawsuit has been filed in San Diego County Superior Court, and the details are out there. The allegations are made against Matt Araiza and again to his former teammates that they were at a party that was off-campus and there was a girl who was a high school senior at the time and according to the lawsuit, Araiza got her inside a room where there were other men in the lawsuit says at least three other men, including the two teammates that are mentioned and she was raped repeatedly over an hour and 1/2 time until the party was shut down presumably by authorities.

I almost can't speak the words out loud because the allegations are so disgusting and disturbing, but it is out there in this lawsuit and the bills know about it. In case you're wondering, this is a civil lawsuit similar to the types of lawsuits that were filed against DeShawn Watson now he's not accused of rape he's accused of sexual misconduct, sexual assault, but my my point in bringing him up is to say that these this is also a civil lawsuit is not a criminal complaint, but the bills know about it.

They release a statement Thursday and said, due to the serious nature of the complaint, we conducted a thorough examination of this matter. It's an ongoing civil case, we will have no other comment at this point, the NFL is also aware the minor right now what she was. She was a minor at the time. She's only named as Jane go with the lawsuit stipulates that she was in and out of consciousness and only remembers moments where these men were taking turns raping her. There's other details that I am not going to share, but she does indicate that Matt Araiza the bills rookie punter knew she was in high school and at their he'd gave her a drink and that there may have been other substances besides alcohol in this drink so maybe a date rape drug of some sort, disturbing. She did report the rate for the alleged rape to San Diego police. There was an investigation that was opened up and no arrests made at this point. This is a civil lawsuit that's been filed. It's after hours on CBS sports radio
