Faster Pastor and Heirs of Grace [Part 3]

Now let's get started with today's teaching here is Alan Wright, you now have this intimate access to this man who previously would not have had you may have even been a slave. But now you're like a son and you have access to an inheritance you were adopted because your love because you're wanted because you have a destiny, and your adopted because you have a rich father in heaven who wants to pour out in a spiritual inheritance into your life and leave a legacy for others and touch the world through you.

That's the image that Paul is using here and I like the Paul's and and just make a brief, parenthetical comment about the language that you see here in the ESV as in many other translations that says adoption as sons because we've learned in recent years that there is something that is important about be insensitive in our language about gender so that we do not reinforce the idea of male superiority because we have just read that in Christ there is no male or female, and so we have sought and to toot to change language that to be inclusive would say sons and daughters are our children. But here the language remains sons and I think there's an important purpose for this in this because in the context Paul was writing the firstborn son was the delight not only the family but was the honor of society.

Firstborn son would receive a double portion of inheritance in a special blessing from his father. What Paul is saying here is inclusive to men and women that you because your adopted your adopted like sons because the inheritance flowed in that day. Inheritance flowed through the firstborn son what he saying, whether male or female understand that this is about your position. It's like we are all the firstborn son your adopted for that purpose.

When I change everything I could go deep inside it would not change everything about how you view life like God's firstborn son adopted so that he could put an inheritance into you. The plan of God has always been to make us heirs to give us an inheritance territory a realm of spiritual influence and this intimacy that we have with God is conveyed through the expression that our heart cries out, it is we don't really have a good way to translate this probably would be… It would be it would be like daddy not in the sense of just just how casual it might seem. But in how intimate it is and how bold it is and this is the way in which you can know that your sons because your sons, God has sent the Spirit of his son into our hearts and and so the spirit. Paul says elsewhere is bearing witness, our spirit that we are sons so verse seven.

So you are no longer a slave but a sign firstborn son. And if a son, then an heir through God. The plan of God has always been since sin entered the world to find a way to convince eyes that we are heirs of God, there has been a progressive revelation and many Henson shadows and prophetic visions and words all pointed to the coming of Christ. When Adam and Eve were in the garden. They were given an assignment and they were blessed they were told that they had dominion in the earth.

They were told that that that they were to have a form of rulership under God in the earth, and they were to be fruitful and multiply.

In other words, that they were to have a place of governance and be of great blessing to the whole earth, and this was God's plan for humanity is never changed when sin came into the world and Adam and Eve forfeited their paradise. God didn't thwart his plan, but he began to unveil a redemptive plan with the question at hand. Will I ever be able to convince my people who belong to me that they are also my heirs or will they. Since sin is in the world forever doubt that have no assurance of it and therefore live more like orphans.

So it comes to Abraham and he makes Abraham an incredible promise.

He says that you will have a territory will have a land you will have governance and he says and you're to be fruitful and you're going to be a blessing that you can have a son. The same promise in other words, it was spoken. Adam and Eve is reinforced now through a covenant that is made with Abraham, but the question that continues is will I really be a blessing. Am I really an heir. Even Abraham and Sarah, even Abraham, the man of faith.

They question it, they bring in Hagar they wind up with Ishmael. But Isaac is born and so it is a God that that that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jay would continue to try to assure his people.

This is the image of Jacob. Jacob was the second born and he didn't think that he would be an heir. So he stole and can I've been deceived and lied his way into trying to grab an inheritance not know when he'd already been predestined to be treated as though he were a firstborn, the pattern just continues that the people of God when they fall into slavery.

God hears the cry of the poor, and he delivers them and you very soon realize that the story is about more than a Red Sea parting and swallowing up the enemy that the story is also about how will this people live with their freedom will they be able to embrace their freedom, or will they act like children like orphans and therefore no different than slaves when they send people into the promised land to inspect and spy out the land. Those spies come back with a bad report and essentially they say we can't take it you know what they're saying is that we are not heirs after all if they had believed it was theirs. They would've taken it, but they didn't believe that they couldn't see themselves as heirs.

This is what Paul saying that is continue to think like that, even if God is brought you through a Red Sea, but you keep thinking like a child. The child is really no different than a slave in here they are longing to go back to Egypt. When God has given him an inheritance. This is what Paul is saying is it see in a spiritual way, not a physical land not not a physical piece of property in Palestine but see your life as one who is been delivered by the great outstretched arm of God by the blood of the Lamb. You have been set free and believe that you are heirs errors in Christ see your life. In this way, look upon life this way don't see life as if you are a slave you're just barely getting by. Look upon it as you are the one in whom it been deposited.

The spiritual riches of the kingdom of God, the very power of God that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. This is the power Paul says any fees and is at work in you towards you, through you.

The same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is at work within you and the Holy Spirit comes into your heart, and he begins to tell you from the moment you receive Jesus.

He is working he is speaking he is whispering is sometimes shouting. You are a child of God. God turn heir with Christ and believe in God is saying please believe it. You have been taken is that state believe it because you have a destiny to believe it because you were made for a great purpose.

You are is something shift instead of thinking you're just here to come to get by. As you start seeing yourself who you really are and beloved. That's when we overcome our hesitancy's in our laziness we overcome or has in the laziness by some I just put Ms. back up under the law is when you come under Christ in Christ. Today's teaching now continues here once again is Alan writing well I don't know if they'll been reading about it in the news of those in the national moves are maybe just local or maybe just go go online to find it, but Samuel may not know we had a race and fancier guy NASCAR fans. My window that may NASCAR fans were on. I raced on the Charlotte motor Speedway on Tuesday night in the rain. I was part of the faster pastor race annual semiannual event. Evidently I was Charlotte motor way and I was invited by Daniel Britt of Joy FM, where I serve as the on their answer question guy. The staff pastors Joy FM and he told me said there is this faster pastor race of the going to be racing school buses in Charlotte motor Speedway and I did I have any interest in ending in the race represent Joy FM and their their bus and everything was what is in Jenny's moment for everything within you goes, no, absolutely not. I have never driven a school bus. I've never been in a race and I don't know anything about raising no and yet well I'm just I'm just texting back and Lamb to say I'm like no but I what came out was that sounds interesting and I thought that it was going to be a chemist ceremonial pastors kind of go out politely. Rado school bus around the track one time kind of thing and I thought a lot about school bus, but how hard you mean you knock this is like the kind of thing you should say no to just tell it was life moments that I should just say yeah okay and so I said sure.

So on Tuesday, loaded up the family and we drove down to Charlotte not having any idea what I was getting ready to do had no idea whatsoever. We are gone online. Look at the faster pastor start making me nervous because they said the first thousand fans would receive a free lanyard or something and I dislike my wife and said you mean to me over a thousand people there high-rises, big event that we were kind of a clown show in the middle of the legends racing that was going on, and so we went down and I was pulled. I didn't know where to go where to park where to be exactly. I just told us was to meet somewhere in the infield and I just pulled up my told the parking attendant said I'm a faster pastor and know most of life is just acting like you belong there right and so this festive house where I go.

Is it always. I would drive around to the back of the Speedway gate. 26 so I just drove around day. 26. There were two security guards there and they would like what you doing I said, faster pastor and said okay will sign and everybody's names here and signatures here in the car and I silently he said okay go to that tunnel right there and so I just go through the tunnel. Charlotte motor Speedway, right into the infield and part and they gave us a briefing in the media center there breathing last about 15 seconds. I knew like an hour and 1/2 of briefing on this I thought to be a lot of briefing a whole lot of instruction and I was I was pretty worried because they do have a hat, where eight of us race and in in the drive-through number seven which is second to last and we got Andrew number one. This was because Gary was the head of a ministry called sons of thunder and I had a racing garb on and how I got to pray with them all. You know, stuff like that I like and he drew number one on this battery Lancelot which is going to be toward the sound of thunder there and I call this thing off and Daniel Britt, the manager runs would like them. He says versus I'm glad you're doing this to the might of been the other wasn't like is not is not too late. Not too late. I had to raise my hand, is a question that this was the most embarrassing thing I raise my Hannah said the bids will quit what we doing what, what, where we race and what if we do it and told my when I was in tears I got one.

The staff and their Charlotte motor Speedway and I just I was. This was embarrassing.

I said I don't know how to drive a bus. I said can you just a little bit about how to use the mirrors and laser snicker into his said that the mirrors on the bus.

He said you just look straight ahead, servile promise you there will be worried about themselves and and I went to the look of the Boston and they decorated all the buses names are all and I realize these buses are banged up pretty bad why these buses so dented and bruised but put your bugs in my ears. So the radio tower to talk to me and pulled his big helmet and I made the mistake because so used to wearing wire snow for speaking that you run out your back. Rhonda wired earbuds on my back, but then when I sit in the chair he was stretching it was pulled the earbuds on my ears. But in order to put them back in and have to pull the mask up take my glasses off pulled the big helmet off and put them back in this whole process again and so I realize that race is starting to start in the left ear, but come completely out and I could barely hear through the right one and I just had this vision of I will be driving out there and I got no idea is also my pullover numbers will be run.

I could barely hear and I had and I said we could get a little practice and get a field air brakes and just take a little deterrence of where where we where we do that is a little gravel strip there just in the infield and and and that was my practice when I got feel the air brakes and how the things dear. What an illness one little turn a bullet like that was it and I and I realize they can start this race. That's all the briefing all the practice I get right there to send them to said now that like this abstract him five point harness in this roll cage in this beat up school bus competing against the sons of thunder. I later learned that my wife and I'm here with Daniel and some of those joy of him and my kids and she made a comment that was insightful. She said now this is totally out of my husband's comfort zone and totally out of his skill set.

She said, but what will be interesting here is I know what a competitor he actually is right about Sue saying that and and and they called us was the bus start a movement and I just had this failure memo like this adrenaline start pump draws are competent and obvious to myself.

You know what, I got a really big helmet on. I'm in a really big bus with roll bars around me. I got strapped everywhere.

I am probably not going to die tonight, said I am not will stay in seventh place and this is my initial plan had been just, you know, I was relieved I got number 70 like who could blame you. Last is going to put her a lot about everybody else but I got out there and I put the thing down to the floor the pedal to the metal and started going with rain and it was slippery and it's been out twice. One time somebody hit me my back bumper was almost ripped off the head to toe to the school bus is off the finger in the course of the race, but I was making progress. I was going to make those start adding care who I ran into play. Lori, we finally pulled off and those staffers look always passes one of the buses that dad runover forbearance he had for crushed barrels on the front of his school bus right right front tire was just sliding around on it was like he was a sled around third buzz had to get towed at variance with the five of us.

It actually made offer pretty proud my back bumper was just totally sticking legally out and the staff residual for these things.

The presence of God's Holy Spirit comes into the heart of the believer you start all of a sudden look at your life and the more your assured live forever and promised eternity with him forever on his treasured possession. I'm I'm in a once is because the dawn when you something shifts in your thinking instead of saying I will safely run around the back of the pack something you goes if I'm in a air that means I must have some territory to take, and you start living your life is one spiritually rich in power to bless the world run the race of life as an air with confidence not an orphan who has fear, for you have been delivered by God's great work through Jesus Christ. You have been adopted by his initiative and his Holy Spirit is within you.

The little bits of law. The everything that leads you into a mentality of slavery and fear, spiritually speaking, get rid of that and instead embrace only the purity of the gospel.
