Are you ready for some good news in Christ all things have become new. Your new person your new position as a holy process by which you can live out God's beautiful destiny for your life. We are in second Corinthians in the middle of the study and second Corinthians is actually entitled things new and it comes from the text that were in today in chapter 5 second Corinthians chapter 5 I want to pick up reading at verse 14. This marvelous text that is laden with the power of the gospel, some of which familiar words that you've heard perhaps before, if you've been a Christian along and wanted to show you today the power of our newness in Christ and second Corinthians chapter 5 pick up reading in verse 14 for the love of Christ controls us some translations that constrain us. It is a image of being hemmed in and is compelled the love of Christ controls us, because we have included this one has died for all, therefore all have died and he died for all those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised from now on. Therefore we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. I think politics means here that one point I remember he was a Pharisee. He just thought of Jesus as a religious leader that was a charismatic figure, but was wrong and saw no divinity in him. And so I disregarded him according literally says according to the flesh place and obviously no verse 17 therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation the old has passed away. Behold, the new has come in literally in the Greek language. This would read like this. If anyone is in Christ, there is new creation the archaic things have passed away. Look, all things have become new. That would be a very literal rendering from the Greek and in verse 18 all this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation that is in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God for our sake he made him to be sent knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God's is good news. To think that your new, especially as we get older. Chuckle this week is a story of an old couple that went decided to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary by returning to the hotel with a honeymoon and that night, wife said to her husband to remember how you used to stroke my hair and he smiled and he stroked her hair gently and she said you remember how you used to rub my shoulders so he smiled. He rubbed her shoulders very gently and then she whispered, you remember how you use to nibble on my ears. He smiled when he got out of bed as far she said where you go and he said to get my teeth so that talk about the process of being made new Mortensen text because it is a big part of our life with God in which we are changed. Think of David who said create in me a clean heart of God, and renew a right spirit within me or the prophet to said that you will mount up with wings as eagles. There is much that is still to come in a process and we know that Paul he said in Philippians be renewed in the attitude of your mind literally said be renewed in the spirit of your minds or courtrooms. 12 where he said not be conformed to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that a lot in the Bible about the process of being changed, but in today's text that's not what Paul talking about in today's text, Paul is talking about something that has already changed something that is new, something that's categorically no, something that is absolute, new, and it's already taken place. Which leaves me. Therefore, with today's question and that is what Smith what's new. You see, most adults and you. You say what's new. They probably give you the same old same old things really do you see some by a year later, maybe not that much is changed they got what preacher Tony Evans said his same old disease.

That's where you get up in the morning and same old and go at same old kitchen need that same old serial that same old car drive down the same old office and work with those same old people that same all were, same old house spending that same old spouse watch those same old TV shows and get back in that same old badly.

It makes I do think that they can also seem pretty futile and same message.

Preacher Tony Evans said like a father who goes get to sign up for school. The boys of why is it we got it out yet schools I say why is it so you get a good education.

He said why is it was a good grade, he said, why is it so you can get the job fly so you get good why was that you have a family of your own wake up you go to schools. I know I just sometimes it seems purposeless and the writer of Ecclesiastes, made some sense when he said there is nothing new under the sun from an earthly perspective. Sometimes we just think mother's is nothing new there ought to be on the same I get rid of them or that we not exchange more than where changing mean is this, same old same old cocktail though one group of people. One category that will never tell you same old same old is a category of people that Jesus said you need to become like them. The little kids you can't see a one-year-old and then a year later see that one-year-old who turned to and say what's new and a two-year-old site. Same old same all now know know a lot's happened, you say what's new to a two-year-old no go well and see since you saw my lesson learned. Hey, I can move around standup get away from people wrap things and when I learned to talk. That's cool.

I learned say things like new. You see a five-year-old come back here later. His six-year-old and I what's new all learn to read and read. That was cool.

Learn to ride a bike this year coming even a 22-year-old son use all merely erroneous emails. I what's new is that well. I proposed to my girlfriend she said yes. Graduated from college got accepted to law school got married when on a great honeymoon just moved into my first apartment with a new life. But what happens to get this stage of life. Later owners is like what's new with you. Well, same old same old gallbladder out. Seems like a lot of the more this new theme of the things we call new our halftime new car this year we did, but is actually three years old. That's a nice new hairdo. Well, you write will have more teaching moment. Today's important series facing a problem when well-meaning Christian friends said something like that.

The problem was such an exit station. Of course, is that telling someone that they actually help the person have more faith once more faith can we do to get more faith in his counterclaim book God mimics Pastor Alan Wright describes one of the most important biblical pathways to building your faith, remembering God's presence in your life when you see God's faithfulness yesterday. You'll find it easier to trust him tomorrow you like this before and throughout the night's teaching series and book treasure map to help you discover them off when you get to sharing the right ministries to go into a very special kind rights faith building but got moments series that he is preached on the subject, both when you make your gift, it's time to discover your documents from yesterday and be filled with fresh fish for college. 877-544-4860 or come to my website sharing the right leg. Today's teaching now continues once again is the things that we call this on the part of their discontinuity. Are there some things that are just categorically hundred percent new. Yes, I new baby never existed before. Those fingerprints never been in the world. New heights sometimes are to be a new idea.

I can new invention that a teleportation device. It is B misplaces that the new equipment. A butterfly's new butterfly it can act like a caterpillar and forget that it has wings, but it can't become a caterpillar again.

It's a new creature. The word for new that Paul uses here is a word means distinctively new thereto words in the Greek New Testament for new Navajos and Kino's Kino's is what Paul uses here Navajos means new in time sometimes used to describe something that younger or something that has just freshly appear sometimes is used to describe younger almost in the sense of disrespectful towards the mature but it means it means new in that it's not new and kind but it has it has freshly appear like that but Kino's is a different word that means new in its distinctiveness new in how much better it is than the old. It is like a new category of say it's interesting that in one instance, Jesus uses these to words in the same sentence is in Matthew chapter 9 verse 17, where Jesus is talking about new covenant versus the old covenant, and to describe this picture of how new it is. He says neither is new wine, put into old wineskins. If it is the scans burst and the wine is spilled, and the skins are destroyed. Wine is put into new wineskins. The basis fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved and what he's talking about here is I think it would be a common image to them they would keep their wine and leather wineskins, and if you took new wine that is great juice that is in the process of fermenting and you put into old brittle wineskins leather that had grown was no longer flexible than what happens is as gases of fermentation are expanding and it will burst it and and and the wind would spill out. You lose that and wineskins itself would be ruptured and would be ruined.

So if you got new wind is fermenting you have to put into an new wineskins that will will stretch with it as it is the gases expansive and what he saying here is that what has happened in Jesus is coming, the inauguration of the gospel of the kingdom of God being at hand the power and availability of the Holy Spirit to the believer and this whole new life of grace.

This is all what is happening and in a very fresh way and you can't take this and try to squeeze it into the mold of the old covenant.

You have to put this into a new covenant and the word that he uses for the new wine is Navajo's needs, not the grace of God is something that's categorically new, just saying it's a new wine you haven't seen the grace of God in this way south of the spirit of God is new is not new is you haven't seen him clean poured out in this way, you haven't seen the kingdom manifest in this way, but he says with a bar to new wineskins that is Kino's. It means a new category of thing. That's what he's talking so there's something that is categorically new.

The old things Paul says have passed away.

You know this word because it's RKO's and it comes in our language with the adjective archaic so it means something really old.

This is not Paul talking about old behaviors that need to change all the other places were Paul does talk about this in this instance he's talking about something that's ancient it's archaic he's talking about the old covenant, and he saying that those old things have passed away.

And so, the new has literally come to get the idea of something that's really new. Being a new creature. You have to think of a create tour and a create tour. Make something out of nothing. If he's truly a creator, and that's why God is the only creator nobody nobody except God can actually just create something out of nothing. When God said, let there be light and there was light. Light had not existed before. If he said, let there be every seed bearing type of plan data never existed before.

So what Paul is talking about when he says you're like a new creature he saying God is created something that didn't exist before. What this means is in Christ, you're much more of a new thing than you might ever imagine leaves you wondering what about you has become new.

What is new and I want to just highlight for you lease these three things your new person your new position and there's a whole new process to be a new person to be a new person means that you have been made spiritually alive, re-created, and to someone who is now alive to God in a way that did not exist before your Christian understand that some people become Christians very early age. In his walk with Christ. All their days in this wonderful some people have radical moments, but either way, here's what the Bible clearly teaches is that apart from Christ were spiritually dead to God were not physically dead in our minds still work spiritually were dad uses why the Bible teaches us as being spirit, soul and body. There's some dispute about whether we do soul and body or spiritual body. But I do see so many evidences and references to being spirit, soul and body, and it makes sense to me this way.

When you become a Christian you God could change you physically, he could heal something he could do something your body but generally, regardless of your age you are physically doesn't generally change just because you become a Christian, you got three freckles on your right cheek and you accept Christ you got three freckles on your right cheek. Afterwards, so one day every Christian is to be given a new body and this could be a spiritual body but is still literal body.

So one day you're going to be new with the new body but your body hadn't really changed automatically in your mind or your soul. When I think of your psyche, your character, your mind will and your emotions and how you think in your personality that when you accept Christ is sometimes ill be a radical change that takes place of seeing that have seen people who were so radically changed. I just set free from the setting sends an addictions and other processing people change it is to be very prideful and selfish. Latest changes but most of us would have to say this Christian in terms of our character in terms of how we think it's much more of a process that you go through a process in which you once believed it, replaced by things that are true in Christ. And so we are being transformed in our minds. So if you're not categorically new, physically and are not instantly new, mentally what is really new.

New in spirit. You are made alive every bit as much as Jesus stood by the tomb of Lazarus and send Lazarus come out and the dead men came to life. This is what happened to you versus what the Bible teaches. What this means, therefore, is that part of what is new is you you are new and means. Therefore, the transformation has taken place a life is taken place, which is much better than just saying you've been improved because your Christian CS Lewis said it well in mere Christianity for me or improve is not redemption.

The redemption always improves people even here and now and will in the end improve them to a degree we cannot yet imagine. God became man to turn creatures and the signs, not simply to produce better men of the old kind, but to produce a new kind of man is not like teaching a horse to jump better and better.

But like turning a horse into a winged creature course once it is got its wings it will soar over fences which could never have been jumped and thus be a natural horse at his own game. There may here. While the wings are just beginning to grow when it cannot do so at that stage, the lumps on the shoulders. No one could tell by looking at them that they're going be wings may even give it an awkward appearance.

What a fitting portrait of the Christian life is not like Dodge is making you better.

You may do something your whole new animal you're holding.
