More on that later in the program but now let's get started with today's teaching here is Alan writing you will have to try to overcome their sin by being holy. You overcome your sin, because your holy we are learning about what it means in the New Testament picture of the word.

To be holy it means to be set apart for God, and we call a series belonging because that's what it means really to be set apart means to belong to God, and it changes everything in your thinking and learning how this describes us. Therefore, as Christians, we are the ones who are the same as the holy ones were the ones who have been washed our consciences clans. We are ones who are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we are priests. This is how God views us, and today I want to show you another picture of holiness and not just not turn there. But one verse in second Corinthians chapter 4 we were seven we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us, so we are jars of Clay we are like holy vessels in order to see this picture, I want to turn you today to a story that you will find in Daniel chapter 5 that gives a very powerful and gripping picture of various United Kingdom shadows are rather misusing the vessels that were sacred in Israel, and someone talk today about what it means to be a holy vessel where Daniel chapter 5 verse one King Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand of his lords and drinking wine in front of the thousand Belshazzar when he tasted the wine, commanded that the vessels of gold and of silver that Nebuchadnezzar, his father had taken on the temple in Jerusalem.

We brought that the king and his lords, his wives and concubines. My drink from them. Then they brought and the golden vessels that have been taken out of the temple, the house of God in Jerusalem and the king and his Lord, his wives as concubines drink from them. They drank wine and praise the gods of gold and silver and bronze iron would and stone chuckled a story about a poor man who was nearing his death in his literally in his in his final hours home and in his bad when he smelled the delicious aroma of his favorite tree home baked chocolate chip cookies they could dismount wafting down the hallway and into the bedroom and he thought, what is this my wife is in their cooking chocolate chip cookies, how how thoughtful he pulled himself up with his last remaining effort. The last bit of strength he had.

He pulled himself out of bed.

He staggered down the hallway, holding onto the walls of the mat. He peered around the corner of the kitchen and there on the countertop. Literally hundreds of beautiful chocolate chip cookies fresh and hot, he thought, have arrived in heaven already. Ours is just my wife and her last gesture of love to me wanted to make sure that I had my very favorite.

He threw himself forward into the kitchen and fell down in rumpled posture, raised his hand took hold of one of the delicious cookies and is bringing it towards his mouth. What was this the stinging sensation of a spatula slapping down his hand a lot about the wife said stay out of those. Therefore, the funeral body of idea making try to justify.

She seems she can win a contest on her job just fine and she always makes him at Christmas time and we have parties that we gather in that same thing will happen if she dies you to make the moves on to despising them set aside, and I will supper one night I would overthink and have pieces I've just five night stay for the party is holy onto the party. You're not supposed to use it is used by the people that were going to show hospitality to and that's what it literally means to be holy. It means that you belong to God and you're not to be used for other purposes, so the vessels that were called holy chalices in goblets and trays and bowls in all of these things that were used in the temple. They were anointed and consecrated, and they were declared to be holy which men they were only to be used in the ministry of the priest and the temple and not to be used for anything else. So they were. They were considered very holy in that sense it's not, why should I put different ingredients in the shop and testify that is holy to the Christmas party at the same ingredients but it only belongs to the present part not for other everyday use was not there different and greedy and so to speak, in the holy vessels. Craftsman also made a beautiful vessels of gold and silver, bronze and would they can be used in everyday usage, but these were just to be used in the temple, and so on that gruesome day when Belshazzar this pagan pagan ruler takes those vessels that had been set apart in the temple and now been stolen by Nebuchadnezzar many years earlier In the treasury of Babylon, and he takes it many brings them out and says let's drink wine out of them to our gods disasters? Do those vessels that were the sacred vessels in Israel, those those golden chalices and cops and the bases to become holy because they were being misused. No.

In fact, what is so offends our sensibilities and the reason we would say they desecrated them is because they are holy. What what's awful about the story is that they're being used for purpose, contrary to their holiness, and I wanted to suggest you today that if you want some more victory over sin in your life if you to continue to grow in their progress of becoming more more like Christ in you, you want to know more, more, what it means to live what you might call the victorious abundant Christian life that other than prayer in the Carl Holy Spirit himself. This is the greatest secret I could never share with you is the pathway to victory is built upon you have an identity in Christ as a holy vessel of God so that is you face temptation and you get up in the morning and you know your spiritual battle every day there what you're saying to yourself is your true identity in Christ is a juror holy unto the Lord, and I'm on for the Lord and no other Monday and usage. Not nothing else. No other no other spirit usually no other no other thing that's contrary to God's both use me and and when you have that identity you just begin to think differently about about everything you do remember a man who who was having as an ongoing struggle in his life and with some temptation and one time she is about to enter into that temptation. He said he had. He heard literally, the board just spoke to him just to state if one sends an utterly completely changes life Lord to set I made you for more than that is what you know the voice of the Lord is what he comes is that he is reminding you of who you are and Christ. Even if you're at your worst, you are holy unto the Lord say to you today is that whether those vessels is golden cops that would be an use in the service of the Lord in the temple before Nebuchadnezzar's active and raise that temple and destroyed installed all whether they are being used to bother pagan ruler, Belshazzar and pagan drunken feast. There still holy to the Lord, the more you see that a more 291 talent right will have more teaching moment from today's imported series Mountain for 99 days in a row.

Someone tells you, I love you my letter for Satan.

When you feel cherished. The what would happen if I'm hundred status impacts inside that sugar cut enough for me to measure about the Colletti anymore. When that one day contaminate the meaning of the other 90 days when 1% of conditional lavatories in the other 99% which is 1% of lies enough to spoil grace bit of luck in introducing unlimited capacity for fear if I don't measure up. Today's teaching now continues here once again is Alan writing is start by guessing there are some really deep misconceptions about what holiness is that people, even Christians tend to think that holiness is something that has to do with what you do and what I've been trying to make his point is that holiness is not about what you do. It is about who you are and therefore is about what God has done for you and I really believe that so passionately that everything your life will change. Use realize that you didn't listen, you didn't even find out he found you and you will change yourself. God changes you a check of this week's's story of a drunk man who was stumbling along outside and came down to the Riverside. Lo and behold, there was a churches on Sunday afternoon baptismal service down at the river and man came up water right up to the to the minister and the minister looked and said, well, my good man.

He said the are you looking to find Jesus and he said yes I am a civil, right here in water as I took the management out of the water and brought about God and he said he said brother did you find Jesus and a drunk man said no and so the message I can put my little watering second time And I little longer this time brought back they said did you find Jesus and the drummer man said no so I put about 1/3 time to time, he kept on the water like 30 seconds and I know where I could do that to you today and brought it back up phase of my good man, did you find Jesus's brothers were drug not know no. He said you sure this is what he felt when you talk, you don't become because you get dumped on you get baptized. Symbolize that you are holy, they would take those golden vessels, and they would anoint them with all of the act of consecration that did make him holy. What made him holy was that they had been set apart under God, and they were consecrated their anointed symbolize that fact. That's what happened in your life and mine and everybody who is in Christ, I think it is sunny misconceptions of what holiness is and what it looks like it is not about these external things. I remember growing up in the formal church that I grew up in a very quiet and there was a lot of kneeling on standing there and the main thing that our members give thing about church is a place for you need to be quiet. The PIP people whisper church you come you coming to church on someone that some I start talking a little bit and other desecrating this this place, I thought, well, holiness must mean that you should be quiet. While there is that there is a time in which God's voice is a still small voice right.

But then Margaret are on some of Scripture also filled up with stuff like shout to the Lord all their words and family symbols know who who's to say is it always is quieter be allowed holy this new one. It could somewhat holiness is about the tickets he had been a member for much micro so I'm thinking that being serious was more holy than being joyful. That's why I thought you knows us all ministers.

I go to church and it was client and everything is very, very serious, and the ministers. There is a tone of voice was very serious, and then where I grew I realized that in all the Holy Spirit is called all of gladness that the fruit of experience in love and joy. Delaware's more the Holy Spirit to have brought more joy you realize that there's a time for leaving the time for laughing. I realize that rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice, mean to have joined and have joy again, so who's to say what's more holy answers are being joyful.

I some think that holy men more formal rather than informal. Now there's a thing for no showing respect in the way we behave in our demeanor and so forth. But because God puts on a clerical collar puts on a black robe or something that make a personal course not.

Things get formal and so forth. Is that really make it more holy because it is it more holy to speak in King James English than it is to speak 745 is so interesting. After being on a mission trip to Salt Lake City and learning more about Mormonism to realize that the book of Mormon which was your claim that Joseph Smith and 1830. All these golden tablets that have been married for a long time and then translated these Egyptian hieroglyphics into the book of Mormon, and it's become a worldwide belief system and all of the world are many people in the book of Mormon and what was interesting to maybe start with a semi-love language is that the book of Mormon is written in King James English which is very puzzling to me because Joseph Smith was in 1830 and New England of United States. They did speak King James English opined the world was it translated directly.

Supposedly Word for Word straight from God and put into King James English.

And what's interesting and again I'm not mocking trying to mock some insistently hundreds exposing this that what's interesting is that sometimes between James is not proper. King James you understand it.

King James English is the way that they spoke in 1611, when the King James translation was developed that was everyday language that some people think that is more holy.

Well, if it is the Bible you grew up with an and your constant doing you memorized auditing James and it's very severe beautiful things that will that's fine, but I just understand that I was the language they spoke in 1611. That's not the way we speak today in America that when the way that they spoke in 1930 in New York, one Joseph Smith was translating supposedly golden golden plates.

So for example I and King James English. The first person I mean the second person singular way so you is now now but there is a second the second person plural. There's a word for that, and that he thought we rally like we got it we got is singular is you and the pluralism y'all so he is the same thing is y'all I and I would say and would you give me a piece of chocolate just fine. Then turn around also say because y'all ought to give it to me when she's only one thing in there that would be a misuse of the language drive but it is actually in the book of Mormon in the original book of Mormon.

Sometimes the thou in the ye were news right it's written like somebody that had grown up here.

A lot of King James English and and and church in reading the Bible and King James and then wrote all this down anywhere you go into long thing about Santa full point of this is a course the Mormons would say differently, but what I would say the reason is put in the King James English is because people thought that was holier. It sounds religious. These are the things that make it holy it so important understand this or else was around from spinner energy trying to be holy instead of recognizing that we are holy in Christ when you recognize yourself as holy than you see yourself as a holy vessel on the story about Daniel and me to say it should've been an emperor named the Napa tinnitus that was bent on the throne served in the king now tinnitus with because the Persian army had been present in and they had suffered a massive defeat. The Babylonians had and basically have a nice was afraid and he had fled so you'd left Belshazzar on the throne and this scene is taken place. 539 BC Belshazzar comes from the name Dell dollar bell and it is referring to this pagan deity saying Maybelle protect the king's eyes pagan all the way through.

It wasn't uncommon that I King would throw a huge, huge party like this. We have historical records of Persian kings though party for as many as 50,000 people. Alexander the great party for 10,000 noblemen. What's fascinating is that we have actual history that shows that on the night that Babylon fell to the Persians. We know that very night was October 12 539 BC because Herodotus and another Greek historian Xenophon testified they wrote down that there was a huge banquet that was going on the night of the Persians sacked Babylon right for history buff to get her attention. Now you want to come back for the conclusion of this for more on the next installment of holy vessels in our teaching belonging to God. It's her teaching today and Alan is back in a moment with additional insight on this for your life in our final word matching for nine days in a row. Someone tells you, I love you my letter for site when you feel cherished.

The what would happen if I'm hungry today that same person said that showing a good enough for me to measure about the Colletti anymore. When that one day contaminate the meaning of the other 99 days when 1% of conditional love poison. The other 99% which is 1% of lies enough to spoil grace instead of locking introducing unlimited capacity for fear if I don't measure up. When my having rejected when the Judaizers infiltrated the Galatian church.

Call us at 877-544-4860 877-544-4861 come to our website pastor and.work in this series we said a lot of holiness is not what you think today's take away you in this sort of gruesome story brainy by the love is gone to think of this pagan king drinking and getting drunk, using the sacred vessels that were taken from the temple in Jerusalem when Nebuchadnezzar sacked Jerusalem you think about the seams for this file party and this is the scene where the famous handwriting walls and become emerging anything about those vessels and what is so objectionable about it to our spirit is that those vessels were made for something out they were made for the service of God in the temple and the other being used to get drunk and salute the pagan deities of Babylon. The fact that that's offensive proving one thing those vessels are still holy, even though they been wrong used to the wrong thing. If we didn't see them as holy. We would even be offended by, and I think this is why the more you can see your life your body your whole being is a holy vessel, then it starts becoming objectionable to you. Think of it being misused.
