Contact us at pastoralan.org Pastor Alan.org or call 877-544-4860 that's 877-544-4860. More on this later in the program right now. Let's get started with today's teaching here is Alan Wright. He just said I can't lie cannot lie everything that kills me, makes me go alive, wasted his entire fortune. All prostitutes and wound up destitute with the ping's Antilles said I'd rather be a slave in my father's house in this when he came home and the father was so excited. They do a huge party until the fatted calf older brother was out in the field working.

He was a worker he was a conformist always was the guy. People were approving of he was a straight a student he was the guy who never had to be told to work harder than everybody else. He already did it, but when he came in. The father sitcom into the party. The older brother was angry and smog and prideful and resentful and sad. I am enslaving for you.

For all these years and you never killed a young goat for me and he refused to go to the celebration. There are two equal and opposite ways to miss the father's heart.

Rebellion and religion.

You can be just as far from God as a religious person and your pride as you could be a rebellious person in a faraway land is the same request the same deception and it just shows up in different directions, but there is no life in rebellion, or religion. There's only life in the father's heart in relationship with him relationship with Jesus is what Saul of Tarsus discovered on that day on the Damascus right he had been on the right-hand side of that chart religion all his life.

The straight a student. The prize pupil of Gamaliel, the most respected Pharisee, the traveling rabbi, the one with authorities to persecute the Christians.

He felt alive or he proved himself to be the best. In other words, he was just prideful because of his smug attitude look at it this way on a chart.

Rebellion and religion rebellion essentially says I can't measure up. So why try it on one time. Talk to a dataset on understand my teenage daughter said she either makes 100 dormant on and on an assignment or she done turning in all because if you think the only way I can feel good about myself is do it perfectly when you're convinced you can't do it perfectly. You don't do it all. But religion says when I prove to everybody that I do measure up. I know I'll be in for so I just keep going in that direction. So in other words, rebellion essentially saying quit trying to be good. There's no point in it, and religion. On the other hand you say just keep on trying harder to be good rebellion.

Therefore, shanks others expectations. I don't want anybody tell me what I do and religion does the opposite always conforms to everybody's expectations. Both are ways of death, right rebellion, says fleeting energy comes to me I get energized and pleasure.

Religion gets energy through pride there is in rebellion a sense of there's no such thing as right or wrong, no righteousness with rebellion. The snow rises with religion itself, righteousness, and this might be the most interesting point of all rebellion assumes the only alternative to this is religion and I don't want that and religion assumes the only alternative to this is rebellion, and I don't want that. But there is an answer.

And as Jesus what happened to Saul Tarsus on Damascus Road was when he met Jesus and then he was filled with the Holy Spirit his whole premise about what makes me feel alive was gone. After you been blind and starved and led by the hand for three days in front of the people that you were going to arrest you been that humbled in and disputed and all of a sudden everything you bill your life all is gone. When I when that's happened and yet you've met Jesus. How can you be energized in this new zeal that he has to proclaim the gospel simple. He shows all of his writings later his religious pursuit was to try harder to be the best so that he would know that he felt accepted, but when he met Christ. He was accepted not because of anything he'd done. In fact, he was accepted despite all of his failures and wickedness when they discover the love of God. That's when he felt alive when he felt that he couldn't be accepted unless he was perfect. He had nothing but the stress of living that life and beloved there more than one way to be isolated.

You can be isolated in rebellion. I have Walt far too many people who opted for rebellion and gave up everything they had, for the pursuit of a particular last toxic attraction and ongoing addiction lured them with life and in the end, left them with nothing but isolation. Lesson one time I was talking to a brother that I love very much he would struggle with cocaine addiction and the. The first time that he began to get actual real help that could lead to recovery. I said what's what's changed and he said somebody has taught me to learn to play the mental tape all the way to the end. He said I never did that. I would just think about the thrill from the drug and play that my mind, but I would never play to the end losing my house losing my wife losing my mind. Vocation.

I didn't play that you understand that religion does everybody applauds the superficial life of the prideful and smog who think they're better than others and think that real life is only found by pleasing everybody those people and I confess that too much of my life was always become pretenders because if you think the way you're going to find energy is by being good enough for everybody to approve of you.

You don't want anybody to know about your problems and there's nothing more lonely than to have problems and you can even talk to anybody about my point is whether rebellion or religion is loneliness, whether rebellion or religion, it's fear-based talent right will have more teaching moment from today's important series at Arlington ready for a new year and this is the year you start planning on dreaming for a great new year right ministries has produced a beautiful, inspiring love calendar with each month not only depicts the month in a heart stirring image that also includes especially The blessing for my pastor having Pastor Alan explains in his new book, the power to blast which releases February is available from Amazon for peeler now blessing faith vision (he then told them to be fruitful or not isn't the real word for your productivity.

The fuel for the 2021 blessing while calendar gives you space to write down all your important appointments and make plans for a wonderful new year.

Contact us today and start your year out right by the power of blessing we are in our final days of offering the special product, six 877-544-4860 877-544-4861 come to our website pastor.like today's teaching you once again is Saul of Tarsus was the greatest relief.

A soul can ever feel he experienced the love of Jesus that had nothing to do with his past sin or his past successes and had to do with the prevailing love of God that had come to him when he didn't deserve it and so he just the rest of his life was fueled by that an amazing acceptance in the block. That's what he wrote about Ephesians chapter 1 is all about it.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. In other words, he say the Christian life is not about performing well enough religiously so that you can be blast. Instead, the Christian life is about you discovering yourself blast so that you are energized to do God even as he said it before you chose us in him before the foundation that we should be blameless and holy before him.

I am not blameless and holy before said because I've been a Pharisee because Jesus died in my place and has forgiven me.

That's what's made me holy right is Romans chapter 8 is all about this. It is the soul of the Romans in chapter 8, in which he says in verse 15, you did not receive the spirit of slavery back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption as sons about father recognizing the child of God and heir with Christ, where with Christ seated on that heavenly is with Christ be separated from God. This is the crescendo of Romans chapter 8 in verse 38. I am sure that neither death nor life, your angels or rulers or things present, nor things that come hours, nor height, nor depth, or anything else creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our if you want to know something the summation of the statement of how I live my life and how we are energized of what the source of light here in Romans chapter 8 I secure the prize in this insecurity did security is an adopted child of God's the burdens of this instead of working in order to get God to love you when you know God loves you. You want to get a little sentimental for me as a dad. This week my son has finished his academic career. He is a you know is where Teresa Academy for we homeschool them all away to go three or to college and three years old law school and last week you took the bar exam. I heard it was hard that I didn't know how hard it's two days, 11 hours each day had to shop 6:45 AM and took in Vincent Hall at the state fairgrounds in Raleigh and wear a mask for 11 hours doing all essay the first day be back there 645. The next day for all multiple-choice he been doing an internship with a law firm this summer and studying every night and every weekend for the bar lead to, and that he sent a text at the end of it and he said well I felt okay about it until 4 PM on the second day and he said here's what happened to me and he sent a video from one of our favorite animated Pixar films called cars.

It was a scene in which this carnet MacLean comes near the finish line. But the tires all rupture on the carpal bowl and it limps across on the hubs of the wheels across the finish line. He said that's what happened to me at 4 PM and got a laughing face emoji with only tell you what blessed me about that was. This is the bar exam and you gotta pass this thing in order to be a liar and he had just had his brain freeze up at 4 PM couldn't think anymore and he's laughing about. I bet you he passed it he always does good stuff. But guess what, if he didn't, so take it again I will do that but this started very early with this kid. We started in the second grade homeschool event, and for a lot of reasons including the fact that I realize I work on Saturday and Sunday and I went mostly my children things so we started and one thing Verizon homeschools.

We didn't have tests but required in North Carolina at the end of the school year. You have to have some sort of standardized test is a good idea. Make sure you get on track so and it would take a test and the night before we had we hired a Gazan commitment for the test the night before said Tamara's mantle, and how he knew this was going to give you these tests and spend a few hours with you and will see all that you've learned and so that night the night before the man's comfort test next morning we're doing are two lessons for the night. That way thank you for minute Up from the day of stifle. Gotta play in the backyard and then he was racked his brain so they said I'm thankful Tamara that man comes I get to take those tests with a laugh or cry for joy life. I've been a great mom I my whole life. I hated test my stomach would churn with anxiety of the test, but I was going to make it may not make that eight is like a drug felt like okay I feel better about myself now made a I did not hold like that. I never looked on a test is an opportunity to show what I've learned is as an opportunity to do better than somebody else and feel better about myself and here is my second writer looking to take intent and you know that gas and you know we cannot solicit which is going to experiment and raise these key in the environment of grace and see what happened. So instead of pressuring them to excel.

We spoke to them about their I entity and Christ and told him what good brains they had and blessed them without pressuring and you know it it produced Bennett like taken tests. The rest of his life. One time he was at school at Baylor and he said he was taken a circuit test as part of his engineering degree was taken.

The support circuits electrical stock and it was a Friday afternoon and he said also in the middle class with other students. It is somebody harming any realize he was taking the test and humming real quiet.

Well you how many said well he said I looked through the exam and it was some circuits we had to write out the formula or whatever is and is I realize I had a doable real pretty.

Friday afternoon I was thinking about what my girlfriend later that day, like taken tests through law school think he kinda like the bar exam up until 4 PM on the second day, why, how could you possibly feel that way only only you were secure when it be nice to live your life on the live my life and honest I don't always do. I want to live my life not searching for significance. I want to live my life knowing I'm significant. I don't want to live my life working for approval. I want to know myself approved through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus and therefore eager to make a difference.

Everybody in this world is either fearful and trying to prove themselves or secure and use in their faith to make a difference and that's what happened to Saul of Tarsus, his life, though it looked like he had everything was a stress base isolated life of a Pharisee who found energy only on his pride until the day he met Jesus and he found out God loved God loves you infinitely. So no matter how hard the task. You might as well home through it because in the in with Christ, you win in the end you triumphed with him and no matter what. Nothing but nothing can separate you from the love of God in Jesus Christ when you know Jesus, you have the opportunity to never be alone and never be afraid what's making us tired loneliness and stress. So what gives us energy and life communion with God and others fellowship and security of being accepted that some were energized and that the gospel Allen right today's teaching totally deep to help God make you clean from the series of unlimited and we come towards the interior of this teaching would get past row in back in the studio here in just a moment with our parting good news thought stick with this early then ready for a new here. This is the end of the series unlimited, but what a great and what a great title essay totally detox. That's a great word picture totally detoxed. You know I think people today know we mean by detox something that has felt like it was unclean and then it becomes clean and a lot of Christians have thought that the way to be clean is primarily by their own behaviors and attitudes and there is such thing as holy living that is living in accord with God's word, but to behold to be clean is not something you accomplish for yourself is something is accomplished through Christ and I want to say to our listeners what Paul would write and say that almost everybody that he wrote in his congregation. He would say to the saints, which means literally the holy ones you get much further in your Christian growth. If instead awake waking up in the morning and say I'm such a sinner. I hope that maybe I'll have some some moments of grace today wake up in the morning. Sam sank God holy and set apart a been cleansed by I think if you start seeing yourself that way and you speak of yourself that way was going to happen is you will start living more more that way in Jesus Christ. We are totally detoxed.
