Pastor author and Bible teacher Alan Wright and I have so much in common. We have reviewed ways in which we differ radically. One is this. If there is a long and then I I assume it's nothing. She assumes something that's faster-oh hold excited for you to hear the teaching today.

In the series called peacemakers is presented with an older church in North Carolina are not able to stay with us throughout the entire. I will make sure you know how to get our special resource right now you can be yours for your donation this month.

Alan Wright Ministry as you listen to today's message go deeper as we send you today's special offer.

Contact us at pastoralan.org or call 877-544-4860 that's 877-544-4860. More on that later in the program but now let's get started with today's teaching here is Alan writing okay. Thanks. Are you ready for this piece of God runs deep not-for-profit superficial. It's not is not glossing over is not sweeping under the root is not ignoring problems. It is a deep peace in the midst of the most real conflict. We were never promised that the Christian life would be a life of no troubles or conflict or problem. Far from it. We are told in this world. We have troubles that we be persecuted for righteousness and that there be wars and rumors of war and that we are in a spiritual battle but God has peace in the midst of it were learning about peacemakers and we been learning all about how the Scriptures call us as Christians to like Christ, not needlessly disagree so that were just disagreeable. Jesus could disagree with every single thing he saw. He deliberately came to be with people with whom he disagreed and left them. We learn about living in harmony that if one note you can add another note, in harmony, or it could be one that's dissonant one that just sounds clingy and is much as possible, live at peace with people don't bring needless strife in this polarized world of ours.

We need to learn all about but today I want to show you a verse that is so curious that I never forgot hearing of this verse from the time I was about 15 years old, sitting at Trinity Church in Greensboro. The preacher of my youth.

Roy Putnam mentioned this as a side point. I never forgot it and I revisited this verse after the terrorism of 9/11 and and I spoke from this this verse and all these years later it's been on my mind is not really that I want to give an exposition of this text or the story of David and his sin or his conspiracy to have Uriah killed in battle or any of all of that. I just want to show you this verse is sort of a launching pad for provoking thought and then looking at a lot of other Scriptures today if second Samuel chapter 11 second Samuel chapter 11 just this verse went verse seven when Uriah came to him. David asked how Joab was doing and how the people were doing and how the war was going how's the war going. Paul said to the Ephesians. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places where an a spiritual battle. He says don't ever get duped into thinking your battles against people is a spiritual battle. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. We won't take time to review in the Scriptures. This magnificent picture of the armor of God, but if you could just envision that a helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness belt of truth, feet shod with the readiness for the gospel shield of faith and a sort of the spirit which is the word of God and you could envision that soldier as this is a spiritual image for us is only one part sold in this not protected. That's the backside because the anticipation is that your your your your in a fight. And so you're not really the plan is not to protect you from the backside. As you're moving away from the conflict. Talked about deep peace, the shalom of God and I have so much in common. We have a few ways in which we differ radically, and one is this. If there is a bomb in the night. I assume it's nothing. She assumes it's something as is always the way it is and if I hear something I have an incredible power of rationalization, I can tune it out on the guy who hears a clock in the car and cuts up the radio so you don't have to hear received at a rabbit ears. She can hear every little thing going on until of course I always have in my ammunition to bring back to her. The Nathan Wheeler story which happened many many years ago Nathan Wheeler was a seminary classmate of mine, and after and we love him and Sherry love them very much and after seminary we moved to Durham North. A lot of the pastor church and they they went to Georgia to pass the church and we hadn't seen them in a few years as we were fairly new, but a few years into our ministry there in Durham and one morning I think it was a Monday morning when I'm most exhausted and just want to sleep as long as possible. The doorbell rang around 6 AM and answered the doorbell lies at the door and that's another rule in our family is that if there is a bump in the night, or somebody ringing the door at 6 AM for some reason, is my job to go investigate. But I said to her, whatever it is can wait. I am too sleepy and I don't know what it is and I turned back over in the bed and she said they rang the doorbell again at somebody's down there. You need to go check maybe it's the parishioner in the I said I'm sure everybody's fine one more time and she tried to get me to move wouldn't move and she said that she's looking out the window she could see as the person's man stepped off the front porch and made his way back to his car in the driveway and she saw him from the side and all of a sudden she blurts out its Nathan Wheeler Wheeler said Nathan Wheeler, who passes a church in Georgia and we had talked to a couple years is driven up here from Georgia. It is ringing my doorbell at 6 AM without calling me ahead of time is something you have got to go down there with Roe ran down the stairs at the door and wrote half of my underwear waving at this car and the car back. Something comes in the driveway. You only know Nathan Wheeler about 5 foot six or seven wonderful friend even back in those earlier years of his life was balding and this man backed up in our driveway and then he stepped out. He was about 6 foot two with a bushy head of hair this matter. Nathan Wheeler had no physical resemblance whatsoever.

The only thing I can say is I will both human beings and they were both men, but other than that it was no bag in his hand and I said sorry I thought you, Nathan Wheeler and his as well. You all ball some Christmas wrapping paper for my daughter for the Girl Scouts and delivering that you will be $18 to get it checked and wrote the man.

$18. I went back out to get in bed. My wife would seem the entire thing out the window.

The bushy head at 6 foot to and sees this backup of the covers notes as I walked in I was, I was walking I didn't say a word. I just crawled into bed covers up, waited a few moments and I leaned over and said it was nothing wrapping paper. So every time there's a bump in the night. I can always without my Nathan Wheeler story. The problem is, sometimes she's right about it not too long ago and she said it was Miller nice to hear us as a buzzing noise and what is that I don't… I don't hear anything honey buzzing slightly real is still buzzing. Can you not hear that not Jack.

I can I you need to go find out what that is where you what you don't let him sleep so didn't know if I got up after one around the house and finally I go downstairs and admittedly I hear something buzzing so she's right there something buzzing around trying to find it, you know, by this time, your why and I go file open the girl into the garage and there was buzzing. It was the garage opener motor buzzing because the cuts on the garage opener was stuck in the on position and it was buzzing and I had switching equipment buzzing and went back up and she she said that is not buzzing anymore. She said what was it, and I just wanted to start since it was it was nothing Nathan Wheeler so well it was it was a garage. What what was wrong.

Well, it was his budget will why was it buzzing well the button was stuck in the position. Also again done something fire burned the motor out what that have well right will have more teaching from today's important series as a Christian, you know, it's important that a priority like minister slips easily. Further, and you're wondering what is praying with willpower. Ephesians chapter 6 somehow has a clear answer, praying in the spirit premise. Some would say that Paul is referring to spiritual gift and a supernatural prayer language series, praying with power and reveals different ways of praying and spirit. Discover how praying is praying in the spirit listen to the spirit as you pray, come to see Jesus as your prayer partner. It's practical, powerful, Pastor Alan writes, praying with power. The power of praying in the spirit change your prayer life and change the world Allen Wright ministries to listen to Pastor Alan's message is attractive. We are happy to send this to you as I thanked him. Allen Wright ministries, seven 877-544-4860 877-544-4861 come to our website pastoralan.org today's teaching you once again is God admittedly just one of those people. I'm optimistic. I think everything will be just fine and in so I can find a lot of reasons to think that there's not a big conflict that there is be dealt with in some of this probably honestly goes back way early you when you come through a family that has a marital breakup like my family, my growing up dad, you know you don't have.

Maybe by talk to about it really deal with all your feelings about it and you can one of the things you can become a semi that wants to smooth everything over. I get this at least gives the appearance of everything smooth than maybe nobody will leave but there's no such thing as being able to adjust ignore a problem and therefore have peace pieces more real than that and it's deeper than that Talk to about Is Such an Interesting Verse of Scripture Second Samuel 11 Seven David Asked How Joab Was Doing and How the People Were Doing and How the War Was Going Because What You Don't See Any of the English Translations Is That the Word Gets Repeated Three Times Here in This Verse Is the Hebrew Word That Usually Translated Peace. The Word Shalom.

So Literally the Verse Says David Asked about the Shalom of Joab the Shalom of the People in the Shalom of the War. He Asked about the Shalom Shalom Doesn't Just Mean the Absence of Conflict That's Way We Tend to Think of Peace. The Absence of Conflict, No Buzzing Noise, No Shalom Means Complete Sound Favor Prosperous or Healthy or Safe and Whole. It Refers to Well-Being in General and so What David Was Saying. When Asking about the Shalom of the War He Was Saying Is God's Favor upon It, Is It Well Ordered Is Going Well.

It's a Strange Question to Ask, but How's the Piece of Your War Because We Are in a Spiritual Battle and We Are All Varying Levels Facing Real Challenges for Such a Temptation to Just Say Peace Peace Where There Is No Peace.

It Was What Jeremiah Prophesied in Jeremiah 613, from the Least to the Greatest of Them.

Speaking of the Religious Aristocracy.

Everyone's Greedy for Unjust Gain and from Profit to Peace Priest Everyone Deals Falsely They Have Healed the Wound of My People Lightly, Saying, Peace, Peace Where There Is No Peace Saying You're Putting a Band-Aid over a Cancer and Calling It Healed, but under the Surface There Is Injustice and Idolatry and Rebellion against God, and No Love of Neighbor, the Kings in That Day As Our Tyrants Today Inclined to Surround Themselves with People Who Will Tell Them What They Want to Hear. A Famous Example of This Was Ahab King of Israel, Who Came into a Partnership with the King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, Because They Were Going to Invade Ramus Gilead and Jehoshaphat Said Ahab Will Do You Have Some Profits That You Could Have Inquire of the Lord. See the Lord's Favor Is Going to Be upon This Military Enterprise and Ahab Said All Yes Well.

He Had 400 Profits under His Higher People in His Royal Court That Would Always Tell Them What He Wanted to Hear so He Inquired of His Profits and This Is Almost Certainly Keen the Lord Will Give This over to You Jehoshaphat, Read through All That and Said Is There.

Not Another One, of Whom You Could Inquire He Kinda Knew That These 400 Profits Work on the Kings Salaries They They Were They Were They Were His Yes-Men and the King.

I Love This Line It's Almost. Actually Second Chronicles 18, Seven Ahab King of Israel Said to Jehoshaphat, There Is yet One Man by Whom We May Inquire of the Lord Michalak, the Son of in Law, but What It Is but I Hate Him for He Never Prophesies Good concerning Those People to Tell Me the Truth about Something That Is the Profits of Ahab All to Michalak. Anything Else You Talk to the King and You Need to Just Tell Him What He Wants to Hear This.

Basically What They Say to McKay Refuses to Understand That Something Don't You Just Have Days You Know What I Does Need Some Times I Just Walk in. Staff Say There Might Be Some Good What's Going on Is Good and You Know That Temptation to Have Our Ears Tickled, Rather Than Really Dealing with the Problem. It Was so Funny.

That's an Acid. What Is an Illustration of the Way We Do This You Know What We Don't Deal with the Deeper Thing to Suck and It Is Especially so As We Do We Go the Doctor We Start Laughing for My Annual Physical Goes on: Diet before I Go over There Fast Day or Two before You Turn to Go and Try to Be Will Call into Blood Pressure Is Low As It Can Possibly Be like People Go to the Dentist. You Know It's Lost the Day before and for the First Time a Year and Try to Impress the Doctor so That You Disclose the Doctor Say What You Feel Are Pretty Good. Thank You Very Much Just Fine. No, No, You Need Some I Tell You the Truth. Sometimes the Way That We Deal with Our Our Our Deeper Issues Is We Push Them to the Side and We Use Our Energy. Talk about and Deal with the Things That Don't Matter Where There's A Lot Of That That Goes on Bickering over the Little Things That Don't Matter at All and Not at All Dealing at a Deep Level of Love That What Really Does Matter. Well, When David Said to Uriah the Hittite to Give Them a Report on How's the War Going. The Actual Language Is so Strange He Said to Him, Literally. How Is the Shalom of the War, He Said How Is the Peace of the War and What Were Learning Is That There's Actually Good News about the Shalom of the War Will See More about This, but Our Promised Land for God Leads Us Is Also a Battleground and It Doesn't Mean That God Wants Us to Have Conflict but It Means That in This World. Just Because We Are Having Conflict Doesn't Mean We Can't Have Peace and It Could Be That Right Now. Whatever Tensions and Whatever Difficulties You Are Facing That What God Is Most Interested in Is Giving You Shalom in the Midst of All Your Trials, so It's a Good Question.
