This is the Truth Network we continue our journey through Luke. We are in chapter 12. I have a special guest who is a marketplace minister warrior for God coach. He is part of a ministry called stewardship legacy helping kingdom minded folks, business owners, individuals steward their wealth and steward their kingdom principles into the next generation.

He is Samuel San Miguel pronounce your name right now is by Knisley biased arrows love that in the Cuban tradition you take both names) monitor your be pops and you were there with us.

It was in the word. When we went through Luke 12, 127 so you have the honor of reading the passage force will you please is we get into this wonderful passage of pivotal passage in Luke where Jesus is still ministering across Galilee Hadden down toward Jerusalem, but it's heating up and more multiuser clambering to a good read the passage. Luke 1227 we Samuel sure. In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together so that they trampled one another, he began to say to his disciples first of all, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered, that will not be revealed nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore, whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops and I say to you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do but I will show you whom you should fear. Fear him who after he is killed, has power to cast into hell.

Yes, I say to you for your him are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins and not one of them is forgotten before God, but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear. Therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows. While so you have a lot in this passage Samuel Fisher reading that we have the.

The idea of leaven in high hypocrisy of the Pharisees that is infectious and will ferment and mess things up time we have the idea of God's judgment and hell and what it means to fear God and what we shouldn't be afraid of and that we have this intimate look at the father's heart in his care.

So, so much of his passage.

What you start us off with a quick up the first question there my friend. Why would a loving Savior be so hard on the religious leaders. Great question, and then the passage Luke 1136, 253. Last time we talked about these religious leaders who are constantly in battling Jesus at every moment attacking him laying in wait is says in Luke 1153 to try to entrap him. The lawyers describes the Pharisees. One of my Bible school teachers. Now, John used to calm the scabs in the ferret in the parasites but they were in Jesus proclaims the six deadly woes on them in Chapter 11 you whoa are you because your outsides clean but the inside is filthy.

You know, and so on and so forth a high hypocrisy. Your make and hell hotter your ticket be bright and hell would you why would he be so hard in those guys.

He's a loving Savior, Samuel, I would be so hard in these religious guys because they are putting a load on people that they can even care themselves that something that the hypocrisy and it goes in next asked the next question because it it it really parlays in our conversation this week. In this passage. What is the leaven of the Pharisees and how is it related to hypocrisy. How does just a little leaven or yeast pollute the gospel while what a question the leaven of the Pharisees that Jesus gives us a specific definition or description of it here in this passage in the in the very first verse.

There of Luke chapter 12 leaven is not bad.

Let's start with what leaven is you've cooked before noon.

It all right and I know there's probably been some delicious Cuban bread made in your household right with your heritage so leaven is also known as yeast in it so it makes bread rise you'll need a whole lot new unit current, but you can tell pretty quick if it's got leaven and otherwise you might be eating a saltine cracker very important.

You don't have that Cubano sandwich right right with with Ghana cracker you wanted on bread right with a good seeing to it in some richness and some moisture and some some cynicism several palatable flavoring and taste.

And whatnot, and its importance 11 is always bad, but in this case, Jesus is likening leaven yeast to high hypocrisy, something that is infectious, something that's viral something that Samuel gets in and I guess we talked about the Bible study. How can hypoxia see a little bit of it pollute the gospel and get in your soul. You just cover a little sin there in your life right little white lie or do you start a pattern. How does it become absolutely infectious and overtake you, just like a little yeast takes overhaul of how does that happen while it is just like anything you know if some if you want to poison someone you don't give them pure poison could spit it out of their mouth, but if you put just a little bit with a lot of good good tasting food. You could get someone that way in same way with with this this leaven here. This leaven is you know that hey you can have the you can have the gospel and this right now is the Galatian heresy in this. Paul says in full. Galatians 5 Denny's is a little leaven leavens the whole lump in these Judaizers were coming of the church in Galatia, and Paul confronts her chapter 2, he says, did you receive the spirit by the deeds of the law or by the hearing of faith. He has the give a pointed question is not a both and you can't. Salvation is not by faith and by works right, Samuel semi by grace and by deeds in the enemy wants to kind of a simulate those two or synthesizes to does need any in any even what the enemies happy Samuel if if we say to God on that day of judgment. Well, I'm coming into heaven because it's 99% what you did on the cross, and you know in the gospel but it's 1% I contribute my 1% goal.

Why is it we always want to kick that one person and wasn't about that leaven that appeals to our flesh.

Samuel well how is that because it's something that we can say we did. We like taking credit only knew where where human doings more than we are human beings and we we like to perform in coursework were taught to perform, you know, if you work hard in school, get good grades right you work hard you work hard honest honest hours work on honest wage right honest a receipt of that work, but when it comes to the gospel, God's got a different standard destiny and it says that no one is righteous, no not one. It says is one Puritan said. He said the only thing we bring to our salvation is our sin, and thank God for his grace in the hypocrisy's were contaminating.

Jesus said freely you have received, freely give the said believe on me, whosoever believes in me shall, shall not perish but have everlasting life. This is life. I am the son on the light of the world you looks to me who you look really save you believes in me will not walk in darkness, then these Pharisees come along is able why, where's your disciples wash their hands a white what you doing away with our customs a wire to keep in the Sabbath.

You know what you do and eaten off of the wheat. There is so on and so forth, and they contaminate the whole thing but it's just a little bit.

11 the same list. Sprinkle little to this law back like in Galatians case and all throughout the Scriptures. There is this attack and even today. Wow today that that is a real attack on the gospel. Give us this next question that we may have to put a #on this income. The final three questions next week but what's his next question Samuel.

So how does the how does his light exposed to parks and bring things out in the open while so the NSS little passage you read it earlier. There is nothing cover that will not be revealed or hidden that will not be known. Therefore, whatever you spoke in the dark will be heard in the lightness interesting. He says what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will reclaim in the housetops. The Hebrew homes just like our homes, they have little corners had secret rooms, even in a Templars catacombs and catacombs of rooms underground aboveground people to go and have these private clandestine meetings and nothing in hey we just for an oath we just agree to something no one else knows about it. Well the fact is, Samuel is anything in the light of God's light that Jesus brings up here is or anything that is not hidden from the eyes of God. No, it is raining and will not be brought out the light. So Jesus said basically he he calls to God. He brings out the ultimate adjudicator of good and bad of evil of darkness and light, evil and good, and that is the light of God. Nothing's going to be hidden. The housetops is interesting that that is a great picture that the those in that in that area of Palestine. At first century would've gotten that you know those those day that day and age people were on the rooftop, not just for relief and and fresh air, and maybe will be the son you know Peter took a nice nap on the rooftop member next door with him and Cornelius Wright had that vision. But there is also the idea of the rooftop.

It's open you know what David can give got in trouble for that. You know have his eyes on someone else's wife, who is bathing on a rooftop seating so the rooftop it's open it's exposed and when you want an audience would go to a little room in your closet or room in your house and talk normally.

Gonna rooftop and you will be heard. If you want to make some noise if you want announce eggs or something coming.

Hey, there's a big event and so Jesus is saying it will all come out and it really gets intense. The next time my friend Samuel with me is with me.

What a blessing he is. He's gonna join me is again as we talk about what it means to fear God. That is something we hear very little of these days, but it's a concept it's a reality that we can and will change your entire life story come back to Luke 12. The final few verses. This passage what it means to fear God and is hell a real place when we hear much about it anymore. If it's so bad. Should we be warning folks, this is experience truth.
