Rich weighs in on the controversial overtime goal that gave the Colorado Avalanche a commanding 3-1 series lead over the 2-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final.

Rich reacts to PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan’s latest comments about competing with the upstart Saudi-backed LIV Tour, and wonders if Phil Mickelson has blown his chance at a successful post-playing career as a TV broadcaster.

NBC Sports’ Jason Garrett tells Rich what it’s like going from the coaching sideline to the broadcast chair, offers up his advice for current Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy and says what it’s like to work for Jerry Jones who he says is unfairly portrayed as a meddling owner.

Rich recounts the top moments from the week in sports and marvels at the Ruthian exploits of Angels slugger/ace Shohei Ohtani.

Everybody welcome the addition of the rich show sports on Sirius XM NBC Sports. All you listening on the terrestrial radio network you can get our show all to see on our our contrast platform as well. We appreciate one and all YouTube.com/which is true for anybody. You may miss anything Christopher Brockman how are you over there served as a member okay and Jake Kelly Jason Feller to see you over there served Richard good to see you, TJ Jefferson how are you I am in stick, I'm glad to hear all that the candles lit and wonderful day in our neighborhood we got ourselves no fewer than three guests.

We got our first guest joining us in and not 18 minutes time joining us in advance of the USFL playoffs that he is going to help call on NBC and also on Peacock former coach Jason Garrett will be joining us on this program nothing but love for coach and and now have you got Jason Garrett on 100 things a Princeton grad a man who is is straight and narrow is is you potentially can get one might think the opposite end of that spectrum will be David Bunuel's joining us on this program as well in advance of something else on NBC and got in a Princeton you could drive his car on campus I guess. So think about athletics. I don't know and can't wait to ask you about that text exchange that he said he had with Tom Brady when format was going to free agency tore up in New England and Brady texted him what the hell you doing up there said right so you think Leonard immediately puckered up at the back of he's and he's in on the show in our number three of this program.

NBA draft is tonight controversy in the Stanley Cup final right as the Colorado Avalanche winning over time and take a three games to one lead so the Tampa Bay Lightning to time defending Stanley Cup champs need to win three in a row to maintain control of Lord Stanley's cup and the controversy was the game-winner scored in overtime last night, not some contrary hops off of the bench. Nathan McKinnon takes his sweet time getting back to the bench and sure enough, when the overtime game-winner about the lamp lit by contrary McKinnon sure looked like he was still on the ice and the reason for that which he said at once, he was still on the ice and all four officials. None of them whistled for too many men on the ice goal stands and the lightning oppressed and you know you take a look at it and by the letter of the law yes and you could see all the hockey fans go back and forth on Twitter and everywhere else on social media saying that you know they're just changing on the fly. You could see that there are people saying just by the letter of the law. The lightning were in the right to be upset and then you take a look at some other game-winner is that the lightning themselves, escorting previous playoff games in playoff seasons past and they had seven men on the eighth ice including their goalie isn't something that could be called literally every line change for me. This is, like the holding of hockey now I can be called on to settling on every plan. Every line change. I feel like you guys know our exactly hustling to the bench J you play hockey like this is something that just happened you that hockey right lets you turn the hockey that that's how we learn minute on and off change on the fly game and the reason why it's not reviewable is because it's a judgment call as to whether somebody is too far away from the bench when the line change is already been completed. Try get back or somebody we might be trying to get back in. Maybe on the way to get back kind of tension at the blue line. Depending on the geography of where their bench is out of the pocket of his works.

Lucky break you hop off of a breakaway. I'm done. That's as part of the game so the lightning are also outshot 11 to 3 of the overtime. So you play better than the refs wrapped in a way in.

That's my take.

You could basically call. I mean this is the NFL. If the NFL rules applied where you could review too many men on the field and if you still have a toll on the field when the ball is snapped. It doesn't matter how far away from the plate you are. You're not getting off on time and that's why it's reviewable. If you took that standard and said you could review every single line change and everybody was coming off the ice must be off the ice prior to somebody entering the ice and getting on the on the ice to start playing on the eyes I would be an entirely different game using writing as if is not the rule was 5 feet from the bench and you know know you can kinda guess what, 5 feet looks like an area for it have any bearing on the play probably blanking transits. It had all the bearing on the play because the guy who came on the ice while McKinnon was ambling off scored the game-winner. I think that's what makes it that much more difficult to swallow, but I imagine it they didn't force that you have guys diving over the bench every time it would just be me every time. Right there be craziness.

So that's the latest in Stanley Cup final. While we were going off the air yesterday at the Travelers in Cromwell, Connecticut where I used to use to apply my craft professional J Monahan the commissioner of the PGA Tour had a press conference as the live doors off this week. Once again their bareback on next week. The big story this week is that Brooks Got is about to leave the PGA Tour and join his brother on the live tour. That's one more major championship winner and big time*any huge name that's now coming off the PGA Tour board and is accepting the live money to go play on that tour that I essentially called exhibition tour earlier this week.

The whole concept of growing the game of golf. I don't know how this grows, the game of golf.

It grows that the wallets of golf, that's for sure. That's what it does. But what it does is it just takes away from the current construct of the PGA Tour and add it to another tour that has zero history in an odd way of playing 54 holes in no cut things of that nature.

This would J Monahan had to say yesterday and I kind of Bible will talk about on the let me be clear, I am not naïve if this is an arms race and if the only weapons here are dollar bills. The PGA Tour can't compete PGA Tour American institution can't compete with a foreign monarchy that is spending billions of dollars in attempt to find a game of golf.

We welcome good healthy competition. The live siding golf league is not that it's an irrational threat, one not concerned with the return on investment or true growth of the game and it isn't enough, while he spoke live golf took that moment to tweet out that Brooks Had indeed left the PGA Tour so the PR fights is of thoughts and he's right man, this is not a rational approach at all if you can take the approach that you do things to turn a profit for no if you do things to actually run a business, then this is irrational. This is not any type of one would say conventional warfare. This is this is you can't like look, nobody can compete in any business, any business if you are running a business and you're trying to run a business and somebody comes in with more money than you and doesn't care if they lose it because the idea is to just have the business so your other business ventures are potentially more palatable to join and partner up with if that's if that's what the Saudi's are attempting to do the live golf tour folks are absolutely in on all of that because they want to just make folks like J Monahan uncomfortable and potentially less viable in the world. I think that Soria if I may use the phrase Mission accomplished banner should be hung there, although this one is truly a mission that is been accomplished.

No doubt about and certainly the PGA Tour is doing whatever they can because they announced yesterday as well. The actual number is $45 million in what's being called incremental purse. That's a great person incremental purse. I get some of that I look into that incremental purse you thinking and small. In Genesys invitational just up the road from here the Arnold Palmer invitational the world golf challenge Dell technologies match play in the memorial so Jack and Arnie's tournaments will go from a total person of 20 million to 20 12 million to 20 million. The century tournament of champions goes from 8.2 to 15. The players championship now is got a purse of 25 million, and the fact St. Jude invitational BW championship jump to 20 and for all the players are going. Not great, and for the fans in general is that mean for us lot means a hot dog will now cost $25 and you go to these events. I guess all and also if you want to watch these events and see the best stars in it.

This will help keep them no money out of your pocket I guess and what you're going to these events.

It's it's the partners is Monahan said one of the things referred over the last several months or more sponsors is please tell us what we can do to help mom is like okay dig deep to get the person of skill. Maybe I'm I keep a player from accepting that the Saudi money potentially there's a thing that I thought of the other day about Phil is my thought of the other day about Phil is one of Shane of what's become of of a guy who just had nothing but smiles and you know you had those big old sunglasses aviators on thumbs up and everybody's is winning a championship last year and that pandemic year, which were still and I guess I should stop referring to past years as pandemic years were still in it but I mean you see in him the gregarious Phil the happy-go-lucky Phil that might not be the real Phil knows but we as fans and an aunt and him at the match with Brady and Rogers and the shamble we came on the air. Here the day after Mike.

What a career, he will have as a broadcaster, so he would make you makes you smarter. He knew he knew how to move the event along. He knew how to keep it going.

You knew how to chop it up with the guys but also knowing that there is a listening and viewing audience at home would love to get in on what they're talking about.

He let Asante was wired up he was coaching him up. He was also getting in their grill.

He made it a far more entertaining product and I thought to myself when he's done playing, or he's beginning to do finished blank. He should go on a towel.

I said that this week Sir Nick Faldo said he is retiring from broadcasting after 16 years at CBS, meaning there's can be a seat next to Nance. I thought to myself that should that should that could have been Phil's if you wanted, obviously. Who knows if he wants to do that. It is a grind. But if he's willing to go on the tour and play or he was. Not a big fan of the tour and he didn't want to give them his name in full faith and credit and Brandon related to it. I know broadcasting for the PG eight PG broadcasting PGA Tour events for major broadcasting network might but not be as cuppa tea, either, but he could have been sitting in this tower next to Nance for fifth for 16 years himself.

They wanted to mid 60s, however long he wants to. That's that's got proof out the door, but a career he could had post playing and and now I guess she's making his money on the live tour and will will see how popular this becomes. I proffer to say once football returns this conversation about live versus PGA MPG versus lip can take a backseat. Until maybe next year we'll see how it plays out. If anybody's going to go seek it out online. Can't wait to see how these guys do at the next event.

54.

All shotgun start some like that. The curiosity factor. The rubbernecking factor that may be somebody winds up shooting a 60 and you want to see it like what the hell happened right there. All the shamble was in the final group with Patrick Reeder Was in the final group with fellow at a great weekend. I mean, you're gonna start to tune into that sort of thing will you won't you after a while.

I think this whole live versus PGA Tour thing is going to burn out and Phil's get a look around and now what bank account may be back to door me from what you read her about or better than that.

That's his own personal eyepatch thought to myself he should be.

Each what a career in broadcasting could had in the seats open the seeds open right now. Seats open not only CBS is going to fill it with my thought like a travel elements taking over next year to go. I had no idea. Okay, I'm sure Nance ON him will be a terrific listen is Nance Nance, etc. a A doing the match broadcasting great. I have enjoyed is terrific, but Phil would've been just the guiding we would've been listening to him for ever a day make you smarter. Being funny talking about when I was here when I was there when I did this when I did that having an immense vast library of experience from which to tap just like Bradys can have coming up in a note whenever he's done we'll talk to Leonard for net between literati writing. Maybe so I don't know bods again. I not to belabor it. II just thought that would've been Phil's seat could've been Phil's seat.

Don't know if CBS wanted him and feels that in that seat don't know if he wanted that seat but that's this next step, he could've done played feet few tournaments on an evaluative new call to do what what what was happening without a was playing the Masters he play earlier in the morning and then he took to the booth later on in the day. I mean I guess CBS could have dealt with some like that at Augustine national but not anymore that Bertie, if you will, has flown was take a break right here in the Rich Eisen sure Jason Garrett baby with socks and ball the NFC West is TJ Jefferson's best player in the history of the franchised looksee whenever what's more likely today here on Thursday addition lots of NFL on the brain today. Jason Garrett now envies NBC. When we come back to a Rich number dial here on the on the Rich Eisen show. He is on the Mercedes-Benz and sunlight is one of my favorite people have gotten to meet come across in the National Football League. He is now part of NBC Sports will be part of football night in America starting this fall, but coming up this very Saturday in prime time Eastern time on the field of the Hall of Fame game that's normally played in the National Football League of the Tom Benson Hall of Fame staining Canton Ohio 80s turn on NBC and peacock it's going to be the USFL playoffs. The Birmingham stallions against the New Orleans breakers in the South division final.

I am prime time Jack Collinsworth on the call with Jason Garrett here on the Rich Eisen show how you doing Jason that's good.

It's good to chat with you absolutely find out, but your phone is cutting in our unit cell phone right now Jason is it is working outward in a tap out and call you right back in a second.

Right here on the variable animal animal to start again. That's a problem back on hold there and see what's going on right here on the return there goes their egos coach I was sharing and then all of a sudden I just want to get to them on time and the phone crapped out right there is already do. I'm going to blame Adam for that, you know, and said it like he was finally talked to find when I talked to all SMH see shaking his head back there yet he's a come on man coach make me look bad, tell him not to move around my notepad and tell cochair hundred multi-that is it really only right thing one spot skinny stay in one spontaneous day on position there. And that's the thing around the signal changes areas to be any lively might be in Canton Ohio already.

He could be with Dell to follow. Right now Mike is doing that day. Michael yes, Mike, is there we should pick still to hotel and go find Cody through their first class. I think you might be calling in from the old landline right now, let me say I because I have is numberless if it matches that I think it's doesn't really yet don't move this don't move were checking on Jason Garrett.

This is called content everybody different number for maybe did he change his number didn't let me know without a new phone today who did this right 844204 which is the number dial here on the program later on.

David Wells will be joining us in. I'm looking a much better off online in advance of promoting also something on NBC and then not Leonard for net will be joining us on the program fresh off of another big season for him in Tampa Florida.

We spoken and when he was on the Jacksonville Jaguars wasn't one of his favorite times to look different in a lengthy little different situation. Let's go to.

Let's go to our phone lines and the ones that are actually working Nathan in Los Angeles at stake is call right here in the program. What's up Nathan hey Rick, great to talk to you right back at his answer: I am happy to get to fill in and talk about territory service of the men we lost yesterday or apply $0.55 old.

He was five. Yeah, my goodness, I was sharing on Dan Patrick. So today I called about a Hall of Fame personality and I wanted to get your thoughts on that on him and who else you might include in a Hall of Fame personality. No senator is a Hall of Fame personality probably John Randall to hold a personality or grocer deftly blends in with the love to get your thoughts on him and just the idea I mean II met him like once and he wasn't thankful he called Nathan he was larger-than-life he was. He was exactly who you saw on television and you know anybody was on that team that I've gotten to know Rod Woodson Ed Reed also will and I think came the year after they won that Super Bowl, but Ray Lewis will tell you that Siragusa upfront was a major part of what they were doing that what Siragusa did upfront Sam Adams member him to big huge body. You helped keep forgetting to let it sit help keep people off of Ray. You know, and then place the pressure that allow the backend of the defense to to lockdown and and work together with the front but goose doing it and then him being podium worthy for the Super Bowl and so on and so forth was a major reason why they want part of one of the greatest defenses of all time. You can make the case that the 2000 ravens along with the 85 Bears greatest defenses to ever win a Super Bowl and you have to obviously give a tip of the cap, and a mention to the championship years of the Pittsburgh Steelers as well. The steel curtain years and then Siragusa.

If you remember when Fox hired him. They put him on the field. Yeah again Enzo. In the end zone. He was always just standing there. You know all, right underneath the goalpost and given his opinions during the game from from the field and it worked.

It worked. It was austere that you were so fine-grained, and it worked him in a way that the booger on the cart did not.

But it's so rare to have somebody use part of the broadcast position on the field providing analysis. I never asked anybody from foxes to why they did that are Siragusa if he came up with that idea but I think it was right. It wasn't a goose and moose together. This is better on the same call with Dick stock pick Stockton right and Siragusa would chime in from the field from his position underneath the goalpost and the whole handsome Larry. He was a year and it was always it worked just again it worked in a way that that I don't think have we seen anybody else attempted to other and I know the booger on the cart was was something but at any rate, thinks that I had made me a Tony Siragusa rest in peace for a terrible loss of art historians father died really young. I think he was 38 of a heart attack always worried about big guy, larger-than-life personality, as Nathan said rough day for the ravens family Horrible Dell VMA he may he rest in peace.

By the way some major college football news just brought major major colonnade Janusz Judge that the long time recruiting of arch Manning the nephew of Peyton and Eli, the son of Cooper Manning or copper as is referred to in that family, grandson of Archie Manning arch Manning whose high school games in New Orleans have made it all over the place on social media delete is get a couple of his games made it on nationally tolerated national television as well and didn't Ole Miss kind of paint the names in the end zone and they did all sorts of things to try and get his attention and his people were showing up after the football season to arch Manning's basketball game right leg link FNL is guys would show up to his task like saving Ron crazy. Well, the winners Steve Sarkissian and the University of Texas Texas is getting arch Manning, Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia, like his name. The SEC powerhouse were in the running for arch in Texas is UT gets the win they have gotta be over the moon about that and to be the Heisey McMoran and IL than any player ever probably right before he's the number one draft pick in 2020 signal.

He is absolutely the apple of the burnt orange right now.

No question about it. What a huge development that is in the world of college football where Texas is been struggling for so long and now I a Savior in the form of arch Manning is showing up to the University of Texas and this will reshape many ways potentially what goes down the SEC and when I thought about Oklahoma are now joining Wilde just-in-time. Wow, what a coup for Texas man alright so joining us on the program AE on the Mercedes-Benz ranch phone line is Jason Garrett dear Jason, I am here here. And it's like to sit next to me.

I felt like odometer hour by, and I apologize that you don't visit the Zetta broadcasting rookie mistake to just hop on your cell phone do stuff like that. I mean, that could be that JC had been well I think I'm not that you will know what Jason I can just I can help with that sort of stuff from now on for you. Congratulations on the men. With NBC Greg really write about it Ridge had the opportunity the USFL game all spring. With that with the crew from NBC and I just can't tell you how impressed I am with everybody at NBC. It's been an incredible experience right from the get go under have the opportunity to continue that this fall is really exciting for me and so what what what is your plan this fall. What exactly are you going to be doing with NBC this fall. I think I know, but I'll just let you know reveal what you have and be part part of the Sunday night show up all night America would coach Dundee and Maria Taylor and Chris M.

And the whole crew that they have out there and get it an extension of the of the work I've done in the USFL and I got to know those guys really well. Through the years because in with the cowboys we were always playing three Sunday night games so that they became a friend of mine and to have the opportunity to work with them again both in the USFL about the politics. I think I know you got three cowboys Sunday nights at ballgames already on the docket. You know how things can get flexed around as well and flexed into right off the bat. Dallas and Tampa and and so you know, obviously you are going to be asked to be the analytical and sometimes critical of the Dallas Cowboys or anybody that you may know and appreciate. Certainly the Giants organization as well. What is your take on what the cowboys have done this off-season.

My opinion is that they've they haven't taken a step forward. They've taken a step back what what are your thoughts on the subject matter. Jason is an awfully good year last year and I you know that dating get the job done against San Francisco and the playoff game in the starting point is probably it's a really good football team, and I know many of those guys you know we drafted many of them another kinda another kind of men they have an out locker room and the leader they have in that locker room and there is no doubt my mind that there can respond the right way you want to think that that's been really impressive to me about the organization and that the myth that continued to Italy off-season program. The work ethic that that is been such a big part of that program this past year hear stories about everybody being there hundred percent attendance all throughout the off-season program and again I know Tyron Smith Doc Martin Jack Prescott the Kelly and all those guys that they have been the cornerstone players on that team so will respond the right way the business of football is challenging as we all know you get these big time players live opportunity to go elsewhere and free agency and hard to keep everybody because people look at that day, but it does the math exited to know about that until he got a lot of really good cornerstone players there will be great players for long time and they're excited about the young players they have.

So I would bet against the state. So what advice would you give Mike McCarthy and always got a trophy in the case is been around quite a bit and and has his own frame of reference, but Dan Quinn to sit in their defensive coordinator and Jerry's already been said publicly like somebody defensive coordinator is an offense of coordinator stick around because they know they have a shot at the job eventually using your name even in that soundbite to to prove a point. That's why Dan Quinn stuck around and coffee still has the job you know even know about of confidence or just given by Jerry moments a couple days ago because of Sean Payton's name. So what advice would you give Mike McCarthy Jason Garrett having been in that position yourself as long as you are ready and out really for any player in the hell it is really to focus on yourself and what you need to do to be your best and that the cliché everyone thinks it bothered coach speak in all of that but it's so true and and and it's so true. Certainly no place like Dallas others that there's a lot of a lot of people who make their living. Speculating about things and digging things up and storing things out but just the world we live in the days of Walter Cronkite found in the news as it is now 6 o'clock every every weekday evening.

Those are long gone.

24 hour news cycles and and and were trying to stir the pot until winter in those roles you have to really focus on what you need to do your best and this is a theme that we tried to use with all of our players through the years you'll players getting into twitter wars in all of this gonna stop and take a look at Lockean know what we need to do each day to be a bad thing.

And when you're preaching that message to your team some time together predicting yourself and you got a thing. Hey, everything upright here with these guys to help them individually be their best to help our team the best you know sometimes you gotta pay. I can remind myself of those things and not that you think about a lot but you're asked about of the lot and status, Lockean, and what I need to do to be my best today.

Mike obviously is a fantastic code has been prolonged time. He understands the importance of doing that and and I think you have a really good team and they have a really good head coach a lot of good players and they had had to be good to measure what is it like to be in a meeting with Jerry Jones after loss. Jason was Jerry Jones is a fascinating guy since he is you don't have the Japanese had throughout his life.

And really, everything you thought he he he has amazing amazing abilities. He has amazing wisdom and intelligence about so many different topics and you know I would say it was incredible after losses. He was incredible. You know when times were tough on his support for coaches and for players and ill when the football part of it was tall for her things in your individual life or challenging their depth in those kind of thing.

He was incredible night and I saw the example through the years when I was playing there when I was cooking there when things like that happen for me and I felt it personally.

So feel that there's a perception about Terry Jones and I think some of it from the outside might be accurate.

But there a lot of stuff he's portrayed in a certain way that I simply don't agree with and very fortunate to have the opportunity to play for him." For him for many years and he's really made my life better so I had nothing but great thing to say about. And I'm not fishing for you to say something negative about Jason, just so I can stipulate that you know I just eat it easy, fast you save these incredible and he is fascinating that it just is the general sense in Dallas that after all this time that he'll put his finger in the pot in a way that he should not. That might run, detrimental to the to this ultimate success of this team and that's that's that's what I'm trying to get Dino dive into here having you having had all that time with him. You know how supportive he always wanted to do what was Jerry when and and I always felt like I didn't do a good enough job communicating know what we needed to do it with her. Maybe it was again, thing that I wanted to do, whether with hiring someone or drafting someone or deciding some water make it making a decision about personnel or how were doing things and that means the coaches job in any organization to create the vision for what you want the team in the program to be entered job to lead and encourage delete upward ownership to general managers and certainly lead to your coaches and your players and all the staff members who work with the team. So anytime something didn't go in a direction that I felt like maybe we could of done it this way.

I always put it back on myself and say clearly I didn't communicate that well enough. I did make the argument the argument well enough to get the decision or the outcome that we wanted a very collaborative organization with a lot of people. You have a lot of conversations about the decision you want to make. Ultimately, Jerry is the owner general manager he makes the decision to the one who draft the player but but I always felt like when we did a good job when I did a good job communicating the vision communicating the reason why we wanted this particular guy we created content throughout the organization that pointed our best work and and anytime we felt sure that I put it back at myself for not doing my job well enough.

Jason Garrett here in the rich eyes and show calling in from Canton, Ohio Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium where the New Orleans breakers and the Birmingham stallions will battle in the South division final in the inaugural USFL playoffs that you can see on Saturday eight Eastern time on NBC and and peacock.

I wish you good luck on that Jason and let's let's chat down the line. I always love run into you whenever I do and and certainly this is one of them.

I really appreciated Jason to keep up the great work right back at you. I look forward to the call with you and Jack Collinsworth coming up on this weekend Birmingham New Orleans breakers. It may look less, it's football it's football. It's just I can't wait for the whole season start and then again to see you on football night in America Maria Taylor Tony gentry Chris Sims and you chat again soon.

Hopefully JCB will take care of this one only Jason Garrett here in the program. The cowboy fan would you think of the interviewer him in general of what he just had to say there. You know it's hard man email because a lot of times is a cowboy fan you get a lot of pushback towards coach. And I think as I told you guys. I'm not one of those people I've met a big fan of the guy I agree with what he says about Jerry though.

At some point Gary does, great stuff, but it sometimes and things that you obviously shake your head and here's the deal man is that he is, I think you I think we just said he is very rosy outlook. I understand that and that he does know the men in the locker room and prepare for meeting right talk about them, but but but when he said he was supportive after loss. People like oh yeah he's full of it right there. Garrett like it. It's been a long time since the Cowboys churned through HC.

There they really don't care they don't not on the similar knowledge only Julia Switzer is one thing but after Switzer left, there was a churning of coaches that stopped with. Well, it stopped with Wade to be honest with you will be stuck with the way the longer than Cowboys fans thought he should have stuck with Vincent and he did, longer than maybe and now he's doing it with McCarthy at this point time but they do make a decision at the coaching spot and then don't revisit it that often take a break 844204 rich numbered here on the rich eyes and show don't go anywhere were back with more in a moment 844204 rich numbered year on the program at Callaway rogue ST drivers. All you gotta do is go road find your rogue ST driver Callaway golf.com/okay every now and then I got a come on the show and and and do this because you know if this guy was doing it for my team or your team in New York City DJ were he's doing it for your team up there in Boston, Chris, or with all due respect to our friends down in Orange County if he was doing it in Chavez Ravine if he was doing it for St. Louis if he was doing it for the cops.

This is all we would be talking about showing Otani he plies his craft for the Los Angeles Angels and once again under the cloak of the Pacific time zone and yet another Angel season that just appears to be thrown into the shrug of Oji category of like what what gives with this team that has the most potentially arguing generationally counted player of this generation and Mike Trout on it and now showing Otani doing things that not even Babe Ruth did not even Babe Ruth did and he's doing things that only Babe Ruth did and he's doing things that not even Babe Ruth did this week a two home run game in a career-high eight runs batted in against the Royals to Homer's eight runs batted Angels lose the game. That's part of the reason why were not talking enough about them next night. Next night he starts. He retires 23 of the first 24 batters he faces throws eight scoreless and strikes out a career-high 13 so a career-high eight runs batted in on a two homer game one night. The next night we repeat this the next night. I week later we have a long sleeve later went to bed. Got up 20 Mobile Park. He takes the mound as a starting pitcher retires.

23 the first 24 professional batters he faces and strikes out a career-high 13 there's no words for except exceptional unprecedented aspect to McCandless to get to the narrator. He's got a bag of pitches like what one, one note guy out her body. I mean it's this is just saying what he's doing. The Angels won that game. Let's see, this is exactly what ways is the most Angels thing ever that trouts back in Otani's doing it now, and they're protecting each other in the lineup and in certain ways. Although it's Otani in front of Trout. Most nights and landowners out for the year so you spent a ton of money on him and he's not.

He's not doing well and he means and he's out for the year and the team itself started out like an ice house afire a 14 game losing streak in which Joe Madden gets fired and Otani comes up with eight runs batted in on a two homer night as a hitter one night and then a starter the next night with 13 strikeouts and they split the games 500 average, mediocre except unprecedented I do now you make heads or tails of it.

It states along old masculine answer one of the most impressive things may be the most impressive thing in all of baseball's history hundred 50 years right Johnny. Then Amir back to back no-hitters are in back-to-back starts this probably will never see that again in our lifetime agree is what Otani just did the last two games more impressive. You back to back no-hitters is that is to be but in back-to-back nights where I have my pomegranate that I would rather not bombs and knocking eight and then come back next night. The next day climbed on the mountain ball and dominate strikeouts 13 career-high mean well IRB eyes two nights ago where I strikeouts and only one other player I feel like this is like DPs to stand of the day diligence that you had your Belgian stance to God. Okay okay Ringo I think I think I used to do this all the back to only one other player in the history of Maj. league baseball has had an eight RBI game and attend strikeout game in a career like in your career like their entire playing career, not back-to-back nights just didn't know was an entire lifetime of professional baseball play think you'll notice that mean I Babe Ruth silly thing the computer my colleague Tony Cloninger. Oh yeah that's right is my next that's it is so impressive. Here's a question for you guys this Otani state with the angel is not now, and that's the whole deal about Otani as I think he does. I think the success is born out of the fact that he doesn't have a microphone in his face every two seconds like he would in New York or Boston making 5.5 that's going to change that a change days arbitration this year. Just every agent in 24 we won't judge and the Yankees are still slated for arbitration on an island. Don't get me started.
