By the way have a lot of fun. It is July for everybody had a safe and happy fourth and have emerged unscathed with all your fingers and live no joke. I mean, Jason, Peter, Paul, it happens, people get hurt fireworks a dangerous and it's funny.
I'm in the great state of Pennsylvania and you go to the supermarket or Walmart and they sell fireworks like it's candy or Martinez. By the way, on the other side of the glass are not talking about like taxes, boxes of all these different variety packs of fireworks and it looked fun, but I'm obviously in my mid-40s. At this point.
Some like you. Maybe not honey pick up sparklers you know I were I live in the inland Empire like 45 miles away from the studio and they're all there.
The stores are all over that the little little vendors.
There are over fireworks vendors gather all over and tell you minutes of packaging thing they look so much so much fun. Each package is like nicely detailed and it's like wow and I can have a heckuva fireworks show in her backyard. You know this, but I didn't do it. Thankfully again.
II you and I need I bought a bunch of sparklers. We do not use a sparklers life.
You just forgot. The funny thing is that we came home with like three packs a sparklers we realized we select sparklers last you that we forgot to use now. I like stockpiling you know sparklers like it's going out of style. So next year. Fourth of July art I should be stock up on sparklers but you happen to make another run to Walmart see a bunch of sparklers completely forget that I have like six boxes sparklers ready my house by three more boxes sparklers what's going on. So in your mail next year. I may be sending you sparklers by late July 6 or seven okay, just so you know I got here is okay but sparklers for you. I want to get into some NBA talk to start the show today.
This kind of an interesting thing going on for some of these salaries.
These players are signing our flat out ridiculous. Okay, the amount of money that NBA players get in their contracts with all this lingo right super max extensions. The rookie designation. Max just the max contract there so many different terminologies of contracts in the NBA but they all have one thing and see in common. It makes a person gets that contract the recipients filthy rich liquid joke edge five year $270 million extension riches contract in the history of basketball.
Five $54 million a year due to spanking over $1 million a week. I mean think about that. The amount of money the NBA because look.
Not a lot of players in the league and big-money TV contracts is a lot of money floating around the NBA. I'm happy the players get it. They are the product right. The players are who we show up to watch. They deserve the money but it is just unbelievable sums of money so you think $54 million a year is pretty good which it is. I think we can all be the family on that.
Not sure if the trust pretty well can, but we can on the other hand you have guys like what Devon Booker, Carl Anthony 10 growing the towns guys ago was it for years $224 million. $56 million a year as $1 million a week plus $4 million a year. We just think about the numbers were talking about here, and these guys like 23 years old right imagining 23 years old and you're going to get 1/4 of $1 billion and you get to be 27, 28 years old being assigned another ridiculous contract. I used to say that if I had to drive two daughters right by the boy and I would get them involved in professional sports. Obviously my daughters can play professional sports as well. The money is not the same. What they want to be tennis stars and know me also to prove that you make 54, $58 million in the year mainly on endorsements. That's great. And that's the highest I think a woman is ever made in the year in terms of an athlete, but if I say go play soccer right look at messy look at Rinaldo the contracts they get. They of course have a tremendous amounts of endorsement dollars as well. In fact, you know whether making, five, six, seven, €800,000 a week which is a lot of money that does pale in comparison to what these NBA players are bringing it pales in comparison. So, on the other hand, they get a ton of endorsement deals because you know soccer is the quintessential global sport we all Messier Christiana. Rinaldo walks on any continent in this world they will be recognized right messages recognized everywhere. Rinaldo is recognized everywhere.
I think Lebron James probably is recognized everywhere but Devon Booker is not and he's got a $224 million for your contract. Nickel yolk is for certain is not recognized anywhere heckuva walk down the street in New York City and no one knows who he is because he place of the Denver Nuggets except he's a big tall guy bribing a guy probably plays basketball, you know, just signed a $54 million your contract, but whatever you get my drift. But I see all these NBA contracts.
I think myself you go one and done right.
Go to Kentucky one and done and now the NIL deals probably become a millionaire that wanted done year at Kentucky or Duke. Whatever it might be Gordie NBA is a high traffic, you make some money. The first couple years, three, four years whatever it is and then you sign these rookie Max extension deals like glucagon chicks guys like that.
If you been all NBA. The first few years and then at 27, 28 years old, you get another big contract right so you can assign another for your contract and who knows what the TV money is at that point so you're talking probably another quarter of $1 billion for the next four years, so it's hundred €20 or 32 years old.
You made over half of billion dollars in today's conditioning and nutritionists in all this at 32 he assign another four-year deal and you can play great basketball to your 36 right we see guys do it but you guys are doing that now. So I like baseball. I say oh my goodness they have my rights for the first three years, then, is the arbitration years and yet I get paid you know I am. Judges got $19 million in arbitration but are judges go to get a one big deal and that's it. He's 30 years old this off-season coming up.
He's gotta get one big deal of eight years 10 years. Whatever it might be and he's gotta catch that paycheck at 30 years old, coming out of the NBA as a star player and Aaron Judge certainly is a superstar baseball player guys are a ready-made $400 million.
Aaron Judge is a pauper compared to them, so why would you go play baseball right by the way, you can be a first replica baseball Eagle 12 in the minor leagues. If you're lucky for just three years. You play three years in the minors. By the way, that's a fast rise up to the majors NBA go straight to the league right to the show right to the money climate controlled environment less games you get your summers off right because Bass was a winner in the road so it's a winter sport. Forget baseball by a son. He's not playing baseball not playing football. Obviously because the head injuries soccer sure because he and I would like to say this and and on like you to disparage American cities but there are some cities in America that aren't the greatest places I had to type kind of boring places right when I was in Houston once for a final four and I went to dinner at the steakhouse downtown with a buddy of mine afterwards where younger is probably about 12 years ago and were looking for hangout right or walking around.
There's nothing I see a copy officer wears like this are the strip bars like a place to go hang out here you go out of town for the downtime you go out of town is like a Washington Street or something or it was a bizarre, bizarre went on downtown Houston tall glass buildings and no one's there. The ghost town at night while a lot of American cities alike that people coming to downtown to work in the get the heck out of downtown and they go have drinks and stuff like the suburbs that sets and 40 a lot of places like that is not a lot of walking cities in America rightly think about it like New York you walk around Boston. You walk around Philly Washington Chicago LA as you know, you really don't walk around much right. Every drives so I think you know that's kind of thing so I can imagine being a free-agent NFL you have to choose between like Jacksonville, Houston and Cincinnati.
I find they'll have something good to offer or play soccer and be choosing between like Paris, London, Barcelona, Madrid, you get my drift right like it's it's it's a completely is a completely different world totally came on a soccer but then I see these NBA salaries on my not Trevor Schwartzman.
If there's a Schwartzman boy somewhere in this lineage he's playing in the NBA. What a job. What a career now. One guy is not getting paid right. This is kind of a surprising thing I want to get into the DeAndre Eaton saga former number one overall pick.
Do you realize DeAndre Eaton was picked to pics ahead of a guy named glucagon church. I mean talk about missing Remy is a good player.
Don't get me wrong DeAndre eight is a good player.
He is not a great player. He is a good player. He's never lived up to the hype is only 23. By the way, to be 24 this month. Please, never lived up to the hype. He came out of high school as one of top five recruits, the nation went to Arizona was what one in John he was ridiculously good and is one year in Arizona by 20 points a game over almost 12 rebounds per game play the entire season. 35 games clearly was the number one pick what it is for NBA players. DeAndre was averaging about 16 points and 10 1/2 rebounds. Again, those are good numbers. Not great right superstar numbers. He's not average. These that ravaged over 18 points a game. He has been hurt by the fact that look. Two of these years have been coping years where you're talking about shortened seasons, but he hasn't lived up to being the guy that everybody thought he would be when he came out of college and even high school so when you look at DeAndre you think yourself know first overall pick in 2018 and by the way Marvin Bagley went number two the terrible pic that was glucagon chicks goes. Three. Jared Jackson, whose panic coming into his own for lunch try young. Those five so clearly amiss. The Phoenix Suns do not get dodges and they don't know they don't get tray on Devon Booker so that's probably something that played a role in that. But John Drayton couldn't get a max deal from the Phoenix Suns last year. Last off-season they did not give him a max deal. They want to do it and there was some talk to you know it kind of angered him to appoint economy and think like do I have a career here.
Do I not have a career here and in reality, this was a season for the gotta show up in an and show that they made a mistake.
While this year John Drayton okay you play 58 games.
Plenty missed the boat loaded games again right.
I missed 24 games this year and average 17 points, 10 rebounds a game night is still the percentage was in over 63% shot better from three point range.
Not a big three point shooter. Obviously and now he's looking for money and the question is how much the guy like that worth in the market kinda speaks right it's like when you have baseball cards are baseball cards and you get the Beckett baseball card monthly and you look up your card and it would say that cards worth $11 number that okay right.
She had the Beckett's as I $11 card you get excited wow this baseball card with $11 and I get excited run over to my dad didn't care about baseball at all and I would show the cards a dead discard with $11 and my dad whose a realist would always say to me you know that cards really worth Isaiah $11 you know it's worth what somebody's willing to give you for that card. I never quite understood that when I was a kid and then of course as I got older I understood that sure a piece of paper to tell me the card with $11 but in reality it is worth literally what somebody's willing to pay me for the car if some easily can be eight dollars for the card. He knows when to give me more than that the value that card is eight dollars not 11 because Beckett baseball card monthly told me it's worth that. So it DeAndre Eaton's agent shopping around and they're talking about all he's this good in that good, and he's put up 17 points a game and 10 rebounds this year and is improved to shooting yada yada yada. No one fighting guy still out there week later. It's kind of, I think a kick in the you know what when you think about what is my value with a guy like that you think at his age. His skill set somebody would pay them a lot of money right then need to throw money around.
I had no one to pay.
So you wonder what's the deal. What is he worth is this a guy that's overrated himself all these years. I don't know that's the craziest thing about it and I was scratch my head last year when Phoenix didn't him that max deal and scratch my head now going what is his value.
Who's going to pick him up. Is he gonna stay with Phoenix because look, he's not the man there right Devon Booker's the guy there.
He's going to be the number one guy there for years to come. Chris Paul's number two there right now right, the savvy veteran big-money guy great player Hall of Famer the greatest in the history of basketball. DeAndre Eaton is the number three guy in Phoenix where you pay a number three guy you don't paint $224 million over four years to find out more, Howard Beck, senior writer for Sports Illustrated coast.

Most of this country and have a fun show from the rich eyes and show show dance Wurtsmith inquiry John this Tuesday, July 8.
On the start show what's the deal with and where standing up what is he worth in today's ridiculous spending NBA market. Amazing how much money is thrown around and it and that Lee good for them.
Players of the show and people pay to watch and play there, making the money buddy, Howard Beck, senior writer sports illustrated coast. The crossover pod and of course serious accent on the radio as well. Howard really got your neighbor. It should not fireworks all night. Are you that guy. No, not me.
There were a lot of them here in Brooklyn. I will tell you that I feel sorry for the dogs you know that was a get really scared by that unbelievable man. I had a dog back in the days big old and he used to go hide in the shower. I mean not like it or not good in that way. It felt like last night with more than usual around my neighborhood. It was there was a lot. It was a lot that guy.
Good to hear Howard, Eli and I started the show often look at. I commend players in the NBA for getting these massive contracts. It's a lot of money, I mean the amount of money guys get your little Robinson is still kind of a project for the nixie skin $15 million a year over four years, but to me the guy that still sitting out there. DeAndre Eaton what is the latest on him, kind of did you know didn't get that max deal.
He thought he could get last off-season from Phoenix to DC near nothing great 17 points, 10 and half rebounds where you see him ending up don't know who I think you have the general sense around the league that you know Eaton future.
His definitely his contract. Everything is ultimately tied back to Kevin Durant the sunset to the side. How much in this Kevin Durant sweepstakes. They are but they're willing to give up, and whether DeAndre Eaton assigned her to be part of that. In which case the great and of course test to be willing to do that yet decided he wants us we should be in Brooklyn in the nuts at the decided they want to be the ones to whether Maxim out or were given whatever it is that he's seeking or that that's amenable to so there's a lot of variables that I just threw out there and yeah I don't think we have any clarity on any of that as we sit here on a five what is essentially supposed to be the moratorium when no deals are actually made your disposability and you can you can come to terms with guys but nothing is show until moratorium lifts tomorrow so there's there's still a lot of variability interested in the market and specially work comes to generating the fact is, it's not like there was a really robust you know market the summer anyway, because when atomic teams with Room who were in a position to chase him and and maybe Maxim out our decedent guy that is going 24 by the lately this month, decedent guy that people look at and say they're still potential there or is he a guy that coming out of Arizona lucky was a tremendous player in college. Clearly, the number one pick in the draft. No one scoffed at that would Phoenix announce that is you got a people can say you know the talent in the NBA level is maxed out or somebody's gotta unlock more house. He viewed no I don't think anybody is a completely product music, turning your 24 a few weeks here not even know entering is prime, yet we cannot usually think of the Prime Minister 2627 when you start hitting your crime. I think he has improved every year even become a pretty solid on low volume, but the respectable three point shooter. Not that that's necessary. Were you want him but great touch around the rim and an international midrange game and plays both in their work that many centers in today's MBA who you know can give you yo you know something above average at both ends of the court and was one of them so we may not be the others. Where were trapped between the notion that we know that big big Zürich personal bigger thing of the past versus the apparent big man. Renaissance revving out course in your kitchen imputing one to an MPP race last couple in your quality towns obviously is been great. Minnesota now has critical care next to him. There younger Eaton is is the rare guy though who know at 7 feet manning a position close to 7 feet inducing at both ends and I don't think the funds make the finals last year without him and II do think that there is value in the league season is is a valuable guy and a guy who still got probably more.
He can do just depends on the context and the team. It's not clear to me exactly what you know, kind of got crossed between him and the sons but you know I don't think anybody sees younger Eaton of the finished product or or is in any way diminish product senior writer for Sports Illustrated Howard that joining us on the rich eyes and showed the enforcement team for rich you mentioned Rudy go bear. He is now a member the Minnesota Timberwolves big deal coming from Utah. The next guy, there's Donovan Mitchell, people wonder second to be a tear down and rebuild his Mitchell got the kind has to wait because of Kevin Brandt as well wherever Durango is making Mitchell go somewhere else to be doesn't go to Miami. We know that Miami is kind of looked at Donovan Mitchell as well. It's not perfect think that if Donovan Mitchell is going to be available that no one can play other cards for him until they see what Kevin Durant ghost tour where he goes.
It's possible that only seems to be connected right Phoenix Miami both in the running, presumably for Durant Miami particular didn't get Durant might turn her attention to Donovan Mitchell.
I don't know this sons would because they got your book or Chris Paul there, but you could see where between Durant being available. Mitchell potentially being available, Utah, Phoenix, Miami, Brookland, you know, throw the Oklahoma vendor to the Room to help people upload contracts. You could see were that could become a massive deal with a bunch of guys changing teams including that you start Mitchell and directed a minimum depth possible.
A lot of you know like everything is is on the table. At this stage, but I also think that you know the nets are going to play this methodically, they're not gonna rush into a decision on Durant which means that as long as there being patient about it and methodical about it may hold up everybody else.
So thank bigger question to me is just you know are the jazz ready for the full teardown of the earth at Newington is Donovan Mitchell ready to say you know what, this is the time you go bear's gone, and even if they didn't get along well that was there was in her element, making them a strong playoff team released a strong regular-season team and they're not there.
Not without without go bear.
They're not so you're either redirecting others resources all the asset you just got to go bear try to get on Mitchell a new costar or your single unit.
We don't have one and we can't get one and make it time to just go over radio direction tendering thing is fascinating. He's got a four year deal for close to $200 million that kicks in this year and secondly is under no obligation to deal the guy right.
I mean there's not a tunnel leverage except Kevin Durant maybe Sampson I can play for you. Brooklyn can say finding a sit out for years. So when it comes down to is there a scenario where Brooklyn doesn't get really, you know they they only offered pennies on the dollar by other teams because they realized and probably want to bring back some talent and offloaded guy that doesn't want to be there. Is there a scenario where Brooklyn actually keeps him and he's playing for the next year I may not been coming asleep for 25 years. Everything is possible.
The second the second we say that something can happen were were wrong so you know I don't expect Kevin Durant is going to be in a Brooklyn Nets uniform and on the court on opening night in October, but it's possible.
I'm sure the nets would love to have that outcome rather than the alternative. Is there a scenario where the trach I read the fine ways to retool around Kevin Durant and convince them that they're still the potential to contending here. I'm in Brooklyn so mean to say here I like II think I think that that is conceptually possible, but only Kevin Durant could tell you whether or not that's reasonable or plausible.
And you know terrain is really hard to read really hard to figure out if they'd like you got your days artery people running the site tell you that even read you know when he is out on something in the nets right now and that the likely change could he change his mind potentially running. If you're the nets you're doing every thing possible to do that you're trying to make the case for why this is still the best place for them and I listen I can make the case that the nets could still be a contender with him. Your butt, but it's not not my case to make an end. I don't know if Durant would be receptive to the nets making a picture or not iffy if they don't trade them if they failed him to get find the deal they want and they hold onto him. I don't know what happens next. You know we've saw Ben Simmons sit an entire season with the Sixers calling his bluff and thing fine and when you your your forfeiting salary. I don't think Durant would do that because the rent is is he loves the game too much of a night like I do not thing the Benjamin doesn't, but the history of Durant and what we know of him as the guy just loves to be in the gym loves to play. I just cannot see him, especially at this stage of his career at age soon to be 34 sacrificing a full season, but having an unhappy Durant isn't doing much good either. You mentioned that you look at that roster right with Kevin Durant, Kylie Irving is tensing back for another year. Ben Simmons we think is going to be healthy and ready to go. They just bring in TJ Ward, who hasn't really played the last two years, but a really good player. Before that still only 28 years old, and family can be fully healthy. There still a lot of talent there in Brooklyn so you're right it's not as if you look at the roster you Satan. Their garbage they can win anything. 50+ when roster that can go deep in the playoffs so it is kind of surprising to me when you break it down that you know he's soured on Brooklyn when they have talent. Is it a personal thing we do we even know what he said it's hard to read Kevin Durant is a personal thing with Kylie. Irving meant he went there because Kylie Irving can help recruit in their right in the first place. So is there a problem are they on the outs to even know I wrote this last week for Sports Illustrated on SI.com people go find my column there but I mean my read of this based on talking to people in the wake of Durant's trade request was basically this there's nothing rational about where things stand right now like I did trying to do it to find some rationalist one is for what Kevin Durant's position is is almost futile because the two things I understand that are driving this trade request are one. He doesn't like the way there is musician Chand about the way last season when right disillusioned about the way that the next finish seventh or swept in the first round of the disaster watching hard along the way had to train for Ben Simmons under duress didn't like the way nothing unfolded, but is also not happy with the way the next have dealt with Kylie Irving in terms of a contract extension.
If taken a hard line because of his commitment to shoot everything unreliable and so but these things don't square because the reason for last season's debacle is mostly Kyra Irving and the fact he wasn't available because he wouldn't take the covert vexing and so Kyra, Irving, sabotaged season. And instead of Durant being mad at Kyra. Irving is met at the nets for trying to hold Kylie Irving accountable and taking a hard line with him on his contract talks.
So like I said, to me, doesn't make any sense, but but that is as I understand it, why Kevin Durant has taken the position he has chat with her back. You're on the right size and show dance was been infrared so Kyra Irving is back with Brooklyn as of now does often is that last year was contract $36.4 million.
Any scenario for Brooklyn dealing him without having to bring back Russell Westbrook yeah involve the third or fourth or an 18 a good start. I don't make too many euro absolute predictions, and I'm not not wondered to you say that the this is definitive is everything. A few minutes ago but evidently too long.
We don't know anything. Think things happen, but truth to think them fairly fairly certain of the nets are knocking to keep Kylie Irving, even if they somehow find a way to keep Kevin Durant.
Kyra is gone like that. There's just no.
If that's not tenable you cannot bring them back after all that happened I think that they will find a way to trade Kylie Irving with a one euro ideal of course do not get a ton back. It may require trading and for Russell Westbrook, at least as an initial component of this but I don't hear Russell Westbrook future in Brooklyn because if they're keeping Ben Simmons, Westbrook and Simmons would be a complete disaster together. I don't think the nets. If the rebuilding of the West and aging Westbrook and the guy you're rebuilding around and I don't think Westberg and renter looking for a reunion either in that scenario any case, I think that your redirecting must work somewhere else or if it is only to a trade you're buying about the ghost of free agency.
The minimum minimum deal somewhere.
I think the ideal for the nets would be Kyra read to the Lakers Westbrook and and tics go out the nets. Hopefully, for them, for their sake, they wanted they want the pics redirect Westbrook somewhere else that has Room. Somebody else building.
The other details. Last question Howard Russell Westbrook. You know he's obviously on the decline.
He's now on at 14 the last four years or so. He's the triple-double guy. No question about only him and Oscar Robertson.
He's done the multiple years you will look back and think about the career Russell Westbrook. Is he a great staff compiler. Not a great teammate. Tough to win with him how seeking to be viewed by mid to 70th anniversary team. I was a voter for that I had them on my ballot and I think he earned that unique talent.
One of the all-time great talents in terms of just sheer performance and dominance on the court and obviously his passion in his will you that the grand scope of Westbrook's career is one of success. Only one NBA finals. Obviously, early on, with Durant and harden in the back of that group that that lost to Miami and you know Westbrook as a solo act has been no failure frankly know what Kevin Durant left town.
You know I did. I know that Westbrook one in BP that your not at the top of my ballot that was that was a year of just sheer individual dominance and not enough team success and he has not been able to manufacture the kind of team success. Since then he is in decline is just kinda bouncing around over the last few years of his career. Nothing is quite working out. He is difficult to play with. He does have deficiencies in his game that he never really addressed specifically shooting in the event and the deficiency. Yeah those are those are important to but you know what we sometimes are never too much about the latter stages of the guys career Dwight Howard comes to mind that we have out what made great in the first place.
In earlier stages.
That's a great point when our people to get the 2014 years. He had when he was just an absolute beast, especially with Orlando. Our buddy Howard Beck, senior writer, Sports Illustrated, close the crossover podcasts also serious accents and be a radio. Howard always applies, and I hope you had a great fourth. Will talk soon.
My buddy didn't think that me awesome stuff. As always, that's a great point like we look at Russell Westbrook and are you're in LA at me and I'm sure you read all about him and watch him and it was kind of a disaster. No question about it and no one wants them back in LA, and the only reason why spotting and have to be there is $47.1 million worth of reasons. The reality is you know he's on that all staff compiler team by Carmelo Anthony Wright guys like that you look at the numbers like wow what a great player and then you realize what they've never won anything and then you have to point a finger as to why they never won anything in that figure and supporting] that player because they're hard to play with Carmelo's always been that number one option ball hog bring it down the court.
Anybody clears Lane. He does a little fancy dribble and then shoots up is a volume shooter Russell Westbrook. You know luck eight talents talented and triple-double's are hard to do and to average a triple-double throughout the entire season. I believe four times in his career is impressive. I can't take that away from the guy that's impressive. Oscar Robertson did it one year and everybody thought, man, that's amazing what he's done it four times in and I will sit here we can disparage Russell Westbrook, but great career doesn't mean great teammate to play along with an doesn't mean he's a guy that these guys if you list and understand how do coaching may be didn't understand how to utilize a little bit differently. Maybe his stubbornness in not wanting to change how he played plays a role in it, but it's hard to look at Russell Westbrook and kinda figure out how he's going to be viewed all-time great sure given that is hard to argue against that. I think if you are arguing about him not being in all-time greatest because you just hate the guy but he says these difficulties difficult wanted to figure out really difficult for The Kevin Durant situation. I brought up with Howard, there is there a scenario where he actually doesn't get moved by Brooklyn. I will examine that a bit because there is a realistic chance that he doesn't move this for years in 198 or so million reasons as to why they may not move explained that next enforcement for franchise in on a Tuesday right on the rich eyes and show different sizes of its eyes and showing the Tuesday docket NBA thanks to Howard Beck for joining us grade 7 him is always a Kevin Durant saga continuing and kinda holding up the rest of the market, but not of the Mitchells the world one dream I can get else in the wearer in land and the answer is well take a seat friends. Gotta wait till the Kevin Durant situation gets figured out how here's how I view this situation. Look at Kevin Durant have a one year on his contract remaining, then he's got some leverage right 34 years old, starting a four here hundred and 98 or $200 million extension have a tunnel leverage.
You can tell the Brooklyn Nets trade now one out.
Okay fine brother might say we don't want you here because you disgruntled and were in a trade.
You okay but in the real world when you're talking about one of the top two or three best players in the league. You don't just give that guy away and if you're the Brooklyn Nets if people I can offer you pennies on the dollar because they think you have to trade Kevin Durrant. Why would you take that deal.
Why would you take that deal and you can always tell Kevin Durant, okay.
Kevin you want to player for us. That's fine, but we have your rights for four years. You want to play hardball will play hardball you want to sit out this you're fine you set out for years. Good luck getting a hefty contract to the glut getting a hefty contractor 38 years old, having sought out for years over your turn out $50 million a year.
Okay good luck. Enjoy a fun because you can't sit out and get paid if you sit out as a form of protest you pulling a Ben Simmons, and you're not getting it paid. Usually that kind of money on the table so the truth is, he doesn't have a tunnel leverage right like I know you don't want disgruntled players playing for you. I get that but you don't want to give away talented players like Kevin Durrant. You don't just give a guy like that away and if the Miami Heat are going to be offering you know a deal to bring in Kevin Durrant. You just can take a bag of basketballs, and some extra hoops and that's right. You gotta bring in top players, you gotta bring in talent or else it's not worth your time to make that deal. So if I looking at Miami's roster and think of myself. Okay, who I want them out of bio 24 years old. Okay I want Jimmy Butler, Jimmy's great Tyler hero.
He's only 22 you're finally giving them out of bio entire hero in RI Kuhlman you get your guy Kevin Durrant on his way to South Beach, but I'm not taking 42-year-old Adonis Haslam and Marquise Morris. The Victrola depot taken those players just because I have to get rid of Kevin Drake, I don't have to get ready.
Kevin Durrant, he's my guy for four years. Like it or not. He's my guy for four years. I'm looking at Phoenix right if I'm thinking about the Phoenix Suns.
Okay you want Kevin Durrant what I get from you. Sure DeAndre sign and trade makes sense.
I can ask for Devon Booker Devon Booker bike. I can always ask Emma Michael Bridges right in talent like him young guy 25 years old.
Good talent you can't get something back that makes sense you not to give them away for guys like Jamal McGee and Cameron pain that doesn't work out for pains not to get you Kevin Durand's and all these teams like Phoenix or Miami that looks at Kevin Durrant says were really good team. Kevin Durrant makes us the best team in the league putting Kevin Durrant on the team at Devon Booker and Chris Paul. Okay the putting out him on the team with Jimmy Butler and Bam out of bio and Tyler hero as if I have to give up a talented player to get Kevin Durrant my money just package the back of my pension some first-round picks until Brooklyn here you go. Thanks for thanks for Kevin, no. With one year left on the deal. Maybe thrown a couple estate.
Did you know just a couple of seafood dinners at Joe's Stone crab in Miami we got a deal throwing season tickets. The Diamondbacks we got a deal now doesn't work that way in Brooklyn is under no obligation to make Kevin Durrant happy.
Under no obligation to say I Kevin because you want to go to Miami or Phoenix. We are going to help you out here you go. But if the Utah Jazz said to Brooklyn hey let's talk were to start a deal loft with the name Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell is a New Yorker, I even want to come back to the area. So is Donovan Mitchell led deal better than any sort of a deal that Phoenix or Miami is going to give you that does not include one or top players and I don't care Kevin Durrant doesn't want to go to Salt Lake City you're going to Salt Lake City because you have no leverage what you do tell Utah on the sit out for years. Okay same scenario he's in Brooklyn set out for years, my friend sit out there become 38 years old again very little leverage to get my drift. Here, Brooklyn is really going to do what's best for them, not what's best for Kevin Durrant that a problem for Brooklyn is this the NBA's elite with the players run this lead, no question about it right players get coaches fired.
Players can dictate where they want to play.
It's happened often in this lead, probably a little too often, and of any league in professional sports. The NBA players have the most power within the confines of their league within the confines of their teams. They usually get their way.
And because of that Kevin Durrant probably says all right in the end you get my way because that's the nature of the NBA right now.
Maybe it's up to Brooklyn to fight back and say, not this time. A friend we can look out for ourselves. When is the organ look at you and take you into our consideration at all. I don't care if I have to send you off to wherever the other side of the planet. It doesn't matter. I don't care if there's five teams on your list that you don't want to go to if there offer me the best deal you're going there, you can deal with that. So it's so interesting to watch this Kevin Durrant saga. It's like, sit back, grab your popcorn and hit play because I have no idea how this ends but him staying in Brooklyn potentially could be an actual ending in this because teams think their shopping in the bargain bins right now because they feel that Kevin Durrant by asking to be treated has taken away any leverage that Brooklyn Brooklyn has plenty leverage. It's called your we have your rights for four years.
I know Philadelphia ended up shipping off Ben Simmons rather than making him it live up to the deal. This because they are for James Harden. Okay fine you bring back a superstar player make it work, but if you're looking at superstar players right as a return for a superstar player just Simmons for James Harden then if you looking at Phoenix and you say who's the superstar player okay DeAndre and Scotty part a package. I think Phoenix is fine with that and and who else but for Miami at Scott include out of bio Scott included Tyler hero type player, you have to give to get I get it I don't because I look at Brooklyn's roster and yeah I think Ben Simmons, I don't think he loves that I know how Rebecca didn't want to say it and that's his opinion, but I do believe that Ben Simmons does not love fast was much say Kevin Grant Benson is a guy great basketball can't solidify the way has lost his confidence, but I think he enjoys what basketball rings for him in terms of salary in terms of lifestyle and things like that. He likes being on page 6 with models and the genders is like that 3000 branches all his 1.2, and I want to get this of baseball as we are right at the halfway point of the baseball season the story with the Angels continues the greatness of Otani and the Yankees.
