As I drive last night, I was reminded how we blame the wanted done every problem college basketball.

The product isn't what it used to be.

Shame on you, one on non-I miss getting to know the words. Shame on you wanted on Zion Williamson is been exploited by the NCAA wanted Don. Shame on you.

And of course last night but wanted done cost to see your little millions of dollars. Wanted done like the government. It's an easy target and cast blame all of our problems.

Since the rule is been vilified in such a public play publicly over the years, it will surely be eliminated in the near future. However, much like the government. I think getting rid of the rule will just make everything worse, both for college basketball and the MBA. I just want to make from understanding the argument. Damn walk in USA Today sports says if not for the one and done to see her little would be taken in the lottery, he's likely to be a number or a top-five pick if he was able to enter the draft last year.

He's drafted in the mid-20s by the Portland Trl., Blazers last night. If you got across college basketball and the wanted done for ruining players.you got would at least be fair and acknowledge how often they help players to write for every single the seer little there's a Kobe white Kobe white was on nobodies draft board in the preseason.

It was projected to be a draft back. It was taken seventh overall last night for every jail in the horde. You will find a Jackson Hayes in Texas who wasn't projected to be taken in the first round at this time last year for every bulbul who slid in the draft you will find a true Makiki Tar Heel fans. I'm sure remember very well and that sweet 16 matchup about Kim Johnson, Tim Johnson wasn't a great a recruit coming out of high school.

Nobody gave them a shot at being drafted. After a few years at Pittsburgh. His experience his exposure via get North Carolina got him taken 11th overall had him taken in the lottery, it still the coolest reaction from last night.

Kobe white goes to the podium and a reporter as he's being interviewed about him realizing his dream being drafted in the lottery when last year he was expected to be taken at all. He learned that cam Johnson his college teammate was taken in the lottery and it easily was the coolest reaction from last night and Cameron Johnson just one 11th.

How do you react to the news doing what 11th cannot dry limits yet's friend the screenwriter.

Wow wow wow grow – crazy – solo bro because you don't you know how hard can work a no sloppy wooded battle while on the road is such a crazy row wow this is so crazy I'm so happy for my night out is that you never can. It's really neat thing to see that and I think Kobe white look great in that bull's uniform just like you did with his free-flowing hair trying to put the cap on top. It was where putting the cap on top of the hair, then trying to wear a headset being interviewed on television, but somehow he pulled it off.

The thoughts are welcome on twitter at sports on Tria 336-777-1600 a very big show today were to be Sharon with Darren Vaught from the data going show former Glenn standout East Carolina alum, Josh Hawkins, currently of the Philadelphia Eagles will drop by to and Mike to Corsica Hall of Fame sportswriter from the sporting news will be joining us as well. The course he was actually on this tune last night talking about the seer little words can blame the wanted done for the seer little dropping so much. Maybe the seer little wasn't ready for the MBA. What happens at the seer is taken in the lottery last year. He goes to the league and clearly he's gonna be ill-equipped. If you're not well-equipped enough in basketball to compete in the ACC. What makes you think you're going to do it in the MBA or even in the GI think the chances are very small that that happened so it's best for the seer little it's best for the MBA and good for college basketball that these players don't jump straight out of high school. At least compared to the alternative of just getting rid of the one and done altogether. A lot of people were criticizing Roy Williams today. Roy Williams holds back on another player Tony Bradley not prepared for the league. The seer little not prepared for the league once again, if you're going to mention the seer little dropping. You also have to bring up cam Johnson and Kobe white being taken in the lottery. If boys gonna get crossed for Noss, he better get the credit for the seer or to me for Kobe and for cam Johnson.

It's probably possible. I think it's completely plausible that the seer made a bad decision for committing from Arizona to go to UNC not because Roy Williams wasn't a good fit as a coach for him, but maybe don't go to a place there's an All-American playing your position. It's good to be hard for you to get on the floor and played North Carolina into play in a place. DeAndre 80s on the way out and Alonzo triggers in the way out to the seer probably made a bad decision. Going to North Carolina so don't blame it on the wanted Don don't blame it on Roy Williams, I think it's on the seer little entities enough of an adult to become an NBA basketball player.

He's enough to deal with the realization in the criticism that maybe he made a bad decision is been Johnson's producer of this program today taking your calls at 777-1600. Your thoughts will compare and on Twitter at sports on Tria just what first halls on a panic attack watching them fall last night because I thought he was going over the top 12 in the Charlotte Pastor Michael at what's going on. Don't know if I would say that you know it hurt him to go to North Carolina. I take the same. Take that you just in terms of unity. Can't blame North Carolina for its nicer little whatever he wasn't able to show them 35+ games that North Carolina had ample time to show it in all the predraft workout that he was on some perfectly clear to bring up a good point. Just because I said it might've been a bad decision for him to go to North Carolina. It doesn't mean North Carolina hurt his game or hurt his chances. It just might've been easier to get on the floor somewhere else that I agree with. I've talked to people who work on the floor with him worked on the floor them during the regular season. He he was just learning how defensive adjustments work in the paint and and and working that offense of set a many of those offered to set your get a run in the MBA Roy Williams is running North Carolina to the east struggled to grasp those things in the first month or two with the season now he's 18, 19 years old that comes to be expected from time to time but don't blame the wanted done for that. Don't blame the wanted done for him dropping in the draft eliminating the wanted done. Here's the thing. A lot of people miss when they talk about the wanted done eliminating it is not been a slow down early entries that take a guess. Just take a guess how many early entries. There were into the NBA draft this year is the number that are there.

How many draft picks 60 or so yeah 60 graphics how many early entries just from college. So if we exclude foreign and international players college players who were early entries. How many do you think you're so just for the audience on early entries. Anyone not a graduating senior right from my go hundred and Wednesday hundred 70 50 hundred and 75 college players so if you get rid of the wanted done. Zion Williamson will go to the MBA be just fine and you have maybe 1/2 dozen maybe even a full dozen go, then you're talking about 160 early entries.

It's it's good to be less Zion Williamson Les Kevin Durant Les Anthony Davis, who were the best stars we've seen in the sport. Some of the greatest skill sets we seen in the sport. The last two decades, and it's just to be more Kobe whites board blame waves more Stefon more berries, more Carmelo Anthony is more the wild things more crisp washes. That's what it's going to be so.

The idea that getting rid of the wanted done to me more for your player staying in school. It's a fallacy now with Zion, he would've gone first overall trade at high school he would've gone lottery for sure, but being at Duke and getting that exposure and being able to grow as a man helped him elevate his status because he was number one covenant which brings me to my next point college basketball is it exploiting these players. They aren't now. Do they deserve some compensation. I agree with that.

Yeah they definitely do. They deserve some, but probably not from the schools. Probably not from the NCAA talk about 351 programs such as basketball, then what you do a football what you do with golf. What you do with all these NCAA sanctioned sports. How does that work title IX that sophisticated, I think athlete if if you can use your likeness to go to a TV commercial or to do a studio or something of that sort. You should be allowed to do that.

That's my perspective and I think eventually will arrive at that place where they could just participate in the marketplace and not get paid directly by the schools but putting that very sophisticated issue on the side.

There's no denying being at Duke and playing in college basketball help Zion Williamson become the number one pick and get set he's getting it set to sign the biggest studio anyone's ever signed coming out of college and into the MBA.

If it wasn't for Duke. I don't care how many Instagram followers you have.

If it wasn't for Duke.

You're not the number one pick and are also not a megastar. People know on a first name basis so they're not being exploited. The seer little do not drop because of the wanted done. If you get rid of the wanted done. That doesn't mean all of a sudden, these four year teams like Bobby Hurley and and friends.

Grant Hill the teams that stick together they're going to come back magically.

They're not college basketball strings from that. And guess what college basketball is doing just fine with Kevin in Burlington is our first cabinet you're on the sports of what you got a nice little thing and I'm all boarded. Leaving early because I won't take my comment. But where is play and his projection of you know… I think he went about working with. But also not you know they say you stay another year you get better. What I think another case he stayed another year easy easy to get better than dealing in daily whatever you can't name many players that go and understand. I get to play more basketball and all that, you name Amy 50 with potential and went to the G league and come out been really good players, long-term players and a few out there, but not not I'm right there with you got to where he deserves to be. If he stays another year there is precedent for that PJ Washington sent earlier today. He was introduced as the newest Charlotte Hornets first-round draft pick.

He said he did the workouts last year at the combine realized he wasn't ready for the MBA. He just wasn't ready for that.

So we went back to school and guess what stock a lot better picked in the lottery by the Hornets. Miles Bridget somebody you thought he needed to do more decided to go back to college. Now that's a situation somebody was projected to go in the top five of them was taken by the Hornets in at the end of the lottery, but there is precedent for guys decided to come back and we could start going down that road wondering what it would look like if the seer little return to North Carolina but the seer he made his decision, North Carolina.

They recruited accordingly and they're doing just fine as well. Now it's time for all of us to move on with the Heinz and Winston-Salem Heinz what he got on the draft last night we got for me you're talking about wanted done prayer to God that wondering what your your thought is on how they thought it go and from high school or you can if you go to college there for three years and then you could go pro for, I Heinz Hines if it was like baseball or football.

I would love that.

Here's the only issue it's not an NCAA rule wanted done as an MBA rule. They're not going to one will hate three years Zion to get into the MBA. Some of them are already salivating and complaining about not having him after one year you not to get them the weight two or three years.

It's an MBA rule not college basketball rule up next speaking of that PJ Washington got out what I like him and Charlotte plus the baggage that Mitch Kupchak carries this is the drive is 609 20 now drive with Josh Graham all mad Charlotte figure out why what player he was taken in the first round. I can't believe how much for second round draft pick. Even though Caleb Martens from Davie County right. The triad they were introduced earlier today and Charlotte my manager. I felt like he made the same by going with PJ Washington number 12 outside of the top 10. You're looking at either taking the high ceiling project is usually in their team or taking the lower ceiling more polished player taking a cam Johnson or taking a Miles Bridges are taking to PJ Washington. In this case the high ceiling projects. Probably the best example of that's the seer little thing like I mentioned Miles Bridges who Mitch Kupchak took took last year and we can agree after one season pretty good pick player but they drafted in the first round Washington almost the same exact bill as Miles Bridges PJ Washington. They are both 67 Bridges is 225 pounds washing it's 227 pounds and that they're going to be playing similar positions. Maybe Washington could step out a little bit more from three point range. They have a very similar trajectory highly touted right out of high school going to be a lottery pick going into the draft after their freshman season. Both examine their situation and decide to stay at school for one more year and it seems like Mitch Kupchak likes these types of players, especially if he's not picking in the top 10+ what made some strides last year in his freshman season. He was 24% from three-point range .4% last year he improve those numbers to work this past season he improve those numbers to 42%, so freshman season. 24% for three sophomore year, 42% from three-point range that school wide a lot of growth for a player was his youngest PJ Washington.

I think all of the players taken in the first round PJ's one of the five most pro ready prospects Zion Williamsons number one.

I believe that guy. He's good enough to be an All-Star right out of the chute. I believe that Coach K was talking to Yahoo sports. He said I think he's the only player I've dealt with. I felt like could be an All-Star. As soon as he comes into the weight that's coach Zion most pro ready player and the strap RJ Barrett is team a ides number two DeAndre Hunter, I think. Aside from Zion. Probably the safest pick. Just because that kind of players never going to get old and the MBA player who can switch and play D on five different positions yeah where do I sign up. Then there's PJ Washington.

I think PJ's a little bit more prepared than he became Johnson it in camp great jumper best shooter in the draft six tag shoot over a ton of guys that's what you're getting with PJ Washington here and what I'm seeing today. Some of the Engstrom Hornets man's a lot of people are holding past mistakes against Mitch Kupchak what mistakes has Kupchak made since arriving at Charlotte Heaton@the Nick bitumen contract. He did it draft know of on my draft Frank Kaminski draft Sean may take Adam Morrison so the draft history. What port in the last 15 years. The what it's been in the lottery and the one surefire hit that they've had been Kimball Walker working to hold that against Mitch Kupchak is only been here for two drafts. Most people can agree. Miles Bridges was a pretty darn good. So let's wait and see. I like PJ Washington seems prepared his 25 with the pack, but let's not hold von Layton Kaminski and Morrison in May and bitumen contract and Marvin Williams contract against Mitch Kupchak. That's misguided he's been. Mitch Kupchak is been extremely hamstrung by the deals that former Jim Rich show made which at the time. Everyone thought over shows to do what he did was he come from Oklahoma City about was before everyone got blinded by that and and now. Literally we saw from reports from sources we trust that Mitch Kupchak was either trying to make some moves before the draft they were trying to Bradley bill before the trade deadline. No one wants to take these contracts. No one wants Nick bitumen team a they were looking at trade in the 12 pick maybe trying to trade back draft look back.

I'm actually know what I'm actually expecting them to sign him you not signed already put them on the referral form sells tickets will remain there that sound like something they would do it does about these players.

According to Kupchak today are expected to play in Greensboro. Even PJ Washington which is a bit of a surprise. I can't really justify the Cody Martin and Kaylee McDaniels. I think McDaniels he's currently dealing with what a domestic abuse charge was for just a few weeks ago.

The details on this because I don't want to be that reckless, but he wasn't at the press conference today.

I'd like to think because of that that circling around them. Second round pick number 52. Overall at a San Diego state Cody Martin. Meanwhile plated and see states from Davie County and he was great at Nevada by the second row we just got excited. We got excited Charlotte on the board. Number 52. Maybe they go look maybe to go jail and hoard. Maybe they go jail in the queue with the 36 pick bulbul still there bubbles of the board. Maybe he'll be in Charlotte. That's exciting and there's these are the things that are great. I'm assuming you're reading. Yes, Galen McDaniels was accused of knowing what I mean, I know how others log people listen to us right now and they're excited about the strap and everything but Daniel's nobodies partying at the street really mocks bills fun, not Galen McDaniels apparently has been accused while he was accused by two women of recording them performing sex acts on the video on social sorry sorry it was not the best.

It appears that will reckless that was reckless.

It was just videotaping people getting on allegedly and then sending it out if it's worth all gotten caught doing that right know because this happened in 2016 when he visited the student in high school when he did this Dolores on top of it like this was before looking at was back in December 2018 will boy about six months ago.

I haven't seen what did he get out of this that he could drop that and see anything on that will scroll through this, but let's let's put the awkwardness of that story aside just to play some funny sound of RJ Barrett.

Here's RJ answering the question in French yesterday. Believe me, you're gonna want to stay to the end of the answer
