Let's pretend somebody out there has not heard about this program and tell them a little bit about it will. It is a ministry of Samaritan's purse and and what we just simply do as we asked people to pack because shoeboxes and they can be a shoeboxes where you have bought a pair shoes, or you can buy a new plastic container to Walmart or wherever it looks like a shoebox and packet with school supplies, hygiene items, article of clothing and small small toy. And then there are many drop-off locations around the around our area and then that box gets processed and it goes to a processing center and then it will eventually reach a child in a second or third world country. And what's so great about this is that many of these children may have never received a gift in their entire life. And so not only do they get a gift from someone around the world that tells them that somebody there out there loves them and so but the greatest thing about the shoeboxes when they get this shoebox they get to hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which means that God loves them that child just as much as he loves you and me and so they hear the gospel, perhaps for the first time, and many of these children when they receive this shoebox not only do they receive this gift, but they receive eternal life because they invite Jesus into their hearts that is fascinating. Diane it's neat to be in a ministry with your husband tell us how long your families been part of this ministry, while Bobby and I have any around volunteers with operation Christmas child for him trying to think here I think is 13 years now started right after you got married now, not really. It is, and we counted it a privilege and that we just feel very blessed that God called us to do ministry together and I do. I do not take that for granted there not couples to have that calling but God called us at exactly the same time into this ministry that we did get to serve together what type of things do you do in your position. We work with community relations so what we do is we reach out to organizations to get them to pack boxes so we work with trail life American Heritage girls scouts any community organization that would be willing to pack shoeboxes we speak will go in and talk to them so out in the community. There a lot of jobs or responsibilities within the team that on. That's what we artwork call today is to work in the community. How complicated is this coded missed major efforts to provide boxes around the world.

Well, Samaritan's purse.

It has always has a plan and so would covet.

They had plan a plan B and plan C, and so we have moved forward with the shoebox collecting, especially with Kevin on the world needs help. Today, more than it it it has ever before, and with country shutting down. We really have a need for shoeboxes and Samaritan's purse is able to get into some countries where no one asked is allowed in. Because of the shoeboxes being tangible gifts for these these children in these countries there allowed in and said that's why it's so important to to have shoeboxes to be able to deliver to these over 100 countries this year Bobby, I know they been some churches that have really worked to get a whole lot of boxes together for you. What are some your biggest participant whether some calorie the church we go to the been a big participant in using past and there been Palmdale Christian church which is the collection center for our area. They have their very big and when comes that the River Oaks and another one out and Clements is. It is a church that they are actually a relay center so the people in that area take the shoeboxes there and then River Oaks will take them to Palmdale so there are many churches in the area that are very involved with operation Christmas child so that that's is great that we have that's kind of support Diane. I understand an individual can do a single box a couple different ways how to set work this year. Yes.

So especially covet some people just don't want to get out and shop you can actually build a box online see going Samaritan's purse.org and you can build the box. According to whether you want to do it for a boy or girl what age group you want to do for you can sit right there in your home and build a box online and you don't even have to leave your home and they get weird. To do this. I Samaritan is Samaritan's purse.org so I could just go to Samaritan's purse.org and click a few buttons and I can pick the items that would go in that box I can put it whether it's a boy or girl cannot take the country or set a little bit too specific.

I you cannot. You cannot pick the country you can do a tracking where they where you can find out where what which country went to how well that sounds neat.

Bobby Henley countries are you working with now will miss you will have moved there will be over hundred countries where the shoeboxes will go in there is a was called a national leadership team in each one of these countries where a laypeople get involved on that side of the shoebox.

If you will, to make sure that the box will get to the children and so they work locally with churches, other like-minded in the faith of the gospel and so they'll bill Bill have was called distribution parties okay and so they'll get a group of kids together in their neighborhoods of these churches and they will have a big party and these kids will get these boxes and be able to open up these boxes.

I seem to remember somebody telling me this started with Bosnia. Have you heard that story. Yes, it started in the Samaritan's purse started operation Christmas Child in 1993 and was actually a layman from England that contacted Franklin Graham and said you know I have something that is theirs all my heart. I want to help the children of the world who are in no place is that there that have war the war-torn countries in place like that. No one given the gift so Franklin got together with the one of his friends and he has a big church in Charlotte at the time and so that the first year they collected over 10,000 shoeboxes in the first distribution was in Bosnia and that war-torn country at the time so it was a great start. So in in a country that had three different divisions. There are all kinds of people being shot and killed and the kids were heaven did debt from bullets you started putting together gift packages for Christmas at head volunteers that that went through those lines to deliver children's Christmas gifts into war-torn country that is just the most fascinating thing I believe there's something on the webpage. This is what we do and then it shows all the different ministries that Samaritan's purse doesn't operation Christmas child is one of them and then you can see the history of operation Christmas child only. This sounds like a absolutely spectacular way that the Christ hands and feet around the world to me and talk a little bit more about how you can get involved face of this ministry. They called us and asked us if we wanted to go.

We said yes we do, and then we hung up and looked at the map to see where we were going and only took forever to get there and have his long to get exactly what it was worth it. I was amazing. I was a life dream of mine to do a distribution it was life-changing. It really was to actually be a part of this ministry, but then take I see what happens on the other side of the box to meet the national leadership in Togo to see their dedication and their passion for the children in their country to hear the gospel to see the distribution to see the children's faces when they open the boxes on all the videos that you can watch just don't do it justice. It was an amazing trip and yeah I assume that a big party.

You go and was to be absolutely sure that these guests that gifts in these $25 donations from people that what you give actually shows up and is used on in your making absolutely sure that there's no graph that there's no money fallen off the truck that everything is going where it's supposed to go with the check system but you met some kids over there.

I would assume is there a story or two that you'd like to share from toga. Oh wow, let's say well we get we were able to do, actually five distributions. While we were there.

I will share a story just about you know we put all the things in the boxes and like what with the children really like and and we we want people to do a quality box but honestly on when we saw the children pulling out pencils and jumping up and down because they got pencils if that's a life-changing moment when I'm when we realize that children around the world can't even go to school if they don't have school supplies and when they get excited about pencils or one child said her favorite thing. The box was a bar soap I want. That is, that is a humbling experience that if they go online and they're willing to give up $25. They can choose which actually goes into those boxes.

They can if they choose a boy and it would be a ball Internet type thing.

Every child will get school supplies every child will get hygiene items, but they'll choose if they wanted all or a ball to that type of thing and then what age group and I thought I've actually been able to pack those boxes and on their really good quality boxes there done in Charlotte and so I can testify that it's a good quality, $25 box now if I put together a box if I get my Sunday school class together and we put together boxes. If my church decides to do this and we put a tractor trailer load of boxes that come to one of the distribution centers, we can go online and we can track where that box is and we can keep up with it all the what is the time that they they handed out to somebody.

What if you pay your shipping online then you will have a tracking number that you can keep up with and it will tell you which country went to that is you. It's just neat to me that I order something today and I can go online and see right where that thing is all the way till it gets to my house with the wrong house. When you pay your shipping you will actually be given a QR code or barcode type barcode and you'll print that out and put that on your shoebox and then so then when it goes to the processing's center. They have scanners that scan the shoebox and then they scan the master coordinator goes in and they know what country that is so, then the person will get an email saying your shoebox went to whatever country it's amazing and they for 25 bucks.

That includes the postage. None of the operating expenses are coming out of that even when you went to toga your friends and your churches came up with the money to help get you over there and make sure everything was being handled properly, and bring you back home sick. I can't think of a better $25 somebody could spin and make sure this some child finds out about Jesus. I assume there's tractors.

Some of the material there's a Bible what what goes into the box on that that level will be in the only receiving countries.

They get a little pamphlet they put in every shoebox the greatest gift, and it gives the talks about Jesus how Jesus was sent to earth, for one purpose, to die on the cross for our sins.

And so it tells the child right off the bat that they are loved by God and that Jesus loves them and loves them so much that he came to Donna Cross for their sense of each child gets that pamphlet in their language okay and so there are many boxes that that have people put new testament to whatever in the shoeboxes and they have a Bible that they can read as well. But this pamphlet tells them the gospel story in their own language.

Now in Togo. I assume that when they handed out the boxes. There's also a word of witness went along with the gift.

There is there is every single distribution party if you will is done the same way they will sing a little singing a few songs in the Lewis skit. Maybe the children will do a skit and all and then someone will come up and give a gospel presentation. So before they ever open up that shoebox, they hear the goodies of the gospel is just out. We've been in volunteering for probably about 10 years now Branson moved earlier that we were been involved for 13. How many different events do you pack into a month.

It does get hectic and normally November and October and November are our busiest months of the year, we have the Chick-fil-A collections are coming up this weekend so I'll let Diane talk a little about those. So yes we do partner with Chick-fil-A we have national partners every year and said Chick-fil-A is one of our national partners shares along with trail life and American Heritage girls and so yes we will be doing collections outside at the Chick-fil-A sis this coming week. Since the dining rooms are not open so that across the country. Chick-fil-A's will be doing that this coming week along with here in the Triad. I may have misunderstood. Can I take a box to Chick-fil-A and drop it off for them to deliver it.

You can drop off a shoebox at Chick-fil-A during the collection night and you can get a free chicken sandwich so any Chick-fil-A I can pack me up a nice box make sure I use my basket my gloves put in what I think needs to go in. I assume I didn't seal the box you can put a rubber band around it will be fine and then it can be checked and if there's anything that should be added that was it. Then they can do that. So put on your gloves put on.

You may ask Philippa box put a rubber band around it, take it to your local Chick-fil-A what day. Well, actually different Chick-fil-A's are doing at different times so it's it's not HH Chick-fil-A is doing at different times. So what window what what time frame you would want to call your local Chick-fil-A to find out what day they are doing that so online then not have it posted online and if There on Their Pages They'll Have Them on Their or for 25 Bucks You Can Go Where You Can Go to Samaritan's Purse.org and There's a Link There for Operation Christmas Child and Then Will Be a Link on That. This Is Build a Box and Then You'll Get to Go in and Choose the Items and Create That Box. That Way, and I Know Some of the Items or School Supplies, the Ball Will Put a Dog Served What Else Are the Type Things Going about Hygiene Items in the You Mentioned School Supplies and on the Go and Many of These Countries. If Children Don't Have School Supplies They Don't Get to Go to School Is Not like Here in America Where Every Child Goes to School and Then Places in This A Lot Of Places and Countries in Africa. If the Child Is Not Have Have Their Own School Supplies. They Don't Get to Go to School so We Take so Much for Granted in Here in United States. And so Pack in a Simple Pencil and Pen Set Test May Mean Nothing, but to Them It Means That They Get to Go to School and so Be Sure to Pack School Supplies and Their That If I'm Not Mistaken. A Lot Of Boxes Are Passed around in the United States and Families and Homes. None. They're All Going around the World Are All Going to Second Third World Country, Second and Third World Countries. Is There a Particular Story That You Remember That Touched You from Here. There Are and There Are Several You Know. Often We Would Get Hung up on What Were Put in Our Shoebox and You Know Do I Want to Put the Apparent Gloves or Toboggan Because I Don't Know Where It's Going.

So It May Go to a Child That Is in Africa on Only near the Equator and You Would Think That One of My Box Ends up to a Child in Africa near the Equator Enough Got Gloves and on Toboggan and There You Don't Need to Worry about That. You Need to Put in There What God Lays on Your Heart to Put in It Because When We Were in Togo We Been Twice to Kenya and They're Both near the Equator. We Saw These African Children Wearing Toboggan's to Them When It Gets down to 70°.

There: so, so They Were Wearing Toboggan's and 70° but One of the Stories That Really Made an Impact in Him for Me Is There Was Another Person on Another Person from the United States on the Distribution Trip and They Were There Watching the Boxes Being Presented to a Child and the Child Open up and Again It Was in an African Country Where It Was Very Hot and the Child Open the Box and He Had a Pair of Thick Winter Gloves, and the Person from America Said No I'm so Sorry You Got Gloves Because You Do Not Need Him Here You Not to Need Him Here Were so Hot and He Says No You Don't Understand.

He Said I Have To Help My Mom Cook and I Have To Handle the Hot Pots and Pans with My Bare Hands and so I Burn My Hands and so Now These Gloves I Don't Have To Burn My Hands so God Has a Way of Getting the Right Item to the Right Child and If You Pull 25 Bucks Out Of That Credit Card and You Go Online to Order the Nest, Not a Concern. They Know Exactly Where Those Boxes Are Going. That Is Correct, That Is Correct and You Can Track Them. You Can Track Him from That Point and Where They Go and You Can Rest Assured That Their People to Pull Money Out Of Their Pocket and That They Get Friends to Make Donations to Help Cover the Cost There Volunteers Going to All These Places around the World to Make Sure That These Gifts Go Exactly Where You Expect Those Gifts to Go and That There Is Not Money Followed off the Truck on the Way. I Can't Imagine Sending a Box with a Whole Bunch of Neat Stuff in It and Pay in the Postage for Only $25 Night. What a Wonderful Way to Be Absolutely Sure That You Are Fulfilling God's Mission. Diane Is There a Particular Story That That You'd like to Share. I Would Just like to Justin to Address the People That Are Packing the Boxes. Lightbody Said Pray before You Start Packing the Box and Whatever God Tells You to Put in That Box Put in the Box and Sometimes When We Got to the Processing Center and We Look in These Boxes We Think What with That Person Thinking, but You Know Now That We Keep Your Story after Story about the Children Who Receive These Boxes Don't Question Just Put It at Whatever God Tells You to Put in That Box We Have One Woman Who Did a Twin Box. She Put Two of Everything and That Would Sound Strange. If It Was Going to One Child, but Ended up Going to Two Sisters. They Didn't Have Enough Boxes to Go around and They Were Able to Open That Box in Both of Those Girls Got One of Everything That Box so God What God Is Amazing and He Already Knows What Child Is Going to Get That Box Get It, It Dawned on Me Did Just Must Be a Countless Number of Volunteers Making All This Work and You Must Can't Come in Contact with Hundreds of Different People That Take Time Out Of Their Day to Do This. Are There Some Particular People That You've Worked with, That You'd like to Lift up Have Done. We Got the for 15,000 Year-Round Volunteers in Operation Christmas Child. So There Are A Lot Of People That You May Come in Contact with Every Day We Have Probably Six or Seven People on Our Team That We Are Just so Thankful for Who Partner with Us in This Ministry to to Just Get the Good News Out Of of Operation Christmas Child and What It Does around the World for These Children so Everyone on Our Team. This Is a Very Special and I Know That There Their Teams All over the Country Just like Ours That That Pray for These Children Who Get the Shoeboxes and Who Work Very Hard to Make Sure That That People Know the Time of Year to Pack Shoeboxes, Which Is Now and so You Know Every Every Volunteer Is Extremely Important.

We're Very Thankful for Them.

Last Year There Were 10.5 Million Boxes Worldwide Neglected 8.9 Million Were Collected Here in the United States. You Know You Somewhere I Saw the Title. I Move in the United States in 2016, Got Married to and so I Become Even Volunteer for a Shoeboxes Church. I Am so Grateful for Being Able in This Ministry Operation Christmas Child Knowing God Will Packing Shoe Boxes.

I Am Allowing Children Loving the World the Life of Christ and Bring Joy If You've Got a Small Group or Church or Sunday School Class and You're Looking for a Project There's Hard to Find a Better Project Than the Shoeboxes at Diane Tell Us a Little Bit about What Folks Can Do outside of the Christmas Month When There Are People That Have so Many Talents That God Has Given Them.

We Have Women Who so Pillowcase Dresses All Year-Round Crochet Hats Men Who Make Wooden Toys Whatever Talent God Has Given You. You Can Put It to Such Good Use by Making Things Year-Round for the Shoeboxes and Not Just Start in November but Just Work on All Year-Round Women Net and and so and Children Make Games and Fishing Cats. I Can Go on and on about All the Things That Are Putting These Boxes, but If You Are a Group or You Are a Church That Would Love to Pack Shoeboxes Next Year. One Great Idea. Some Churches Collect an Item Every Month, or Maybe Hygiene Items, One-Month School Supplies. The Next Month Clothing.

The Next Month and We Work Year-Round. And so Here before You Know It Is Time to Start Packing Shoeboxes, and so If You Think Early Early on and Just Different Creative Ways That You Can Get Items Together to Pack Boxes.

People Have Packing Parties so That You Can Get Together to Do Them Together Families Do Them at As Families There's so Many Different Ways and Honest Samaritan's Purse.org You Can Go on the Operation Christmas Child Page and It Will Give You so Many Different Ideas and Different Ways to Get These Items Together yet. It's Often Are Small Groups Trying to Figure out What a Really Great Thing to Do and Come Together and Work on during Code That You Can Get Each Member of the Group to Go under the Webpage and to Do a Box at $25 Apiece. What Was the Webpage Samaritan's Purse.org, or You You Get through This Christmas Season and You're Looking for an Ongoing Project to Do. You Can Go to the Same Site and Work on a Project All Year Long to Have the Boxes Ready Next Year Bobby What Put Two People Need to Know People Need to Know That, for One, They Need to Pray for the Child Who's Going to Receive That Box and That's the Most Important Thing That They Will Hear the Love of Christ When They Get That Shoebox and That They'll Accept Christ in Their Heart If They Haven't Already Know the Thing People Need to Know Is the Shoebox Doesn't Only Affect the Child. It Affects Their Whole Family, and in Some Cases the Whole Villages We've Heard Stores Where Children Have Received Shoeboxes and Have Accepted Christ and There Their Grandfather Was a Witch Doctor in the Village and the Witch Dr. Ended up Coming to Christ and Giving His Life to Christ, so It the Box Is More Than Just a Gift to a Child Is It's a Gift to a Village and Some Whole Village. In Some Cases Where the Whole Village Will Hear about Christ and That's What It's All about.

Is There Another Story. A Closing Story You'd like to Share That You Remember Don Thieme Was Talking a Little While Ago about Craig, What God Would Have You Put in the Box and This Is a God Thing.

It Can Only Be a God Thing. Somebody Impact Pair of Prosthetic Shoes in a Shoebox and You Would Think How in the World Is a Pair of Prosthetic Shoes Going to Get to the Right Child, and so the Child Who Received the Shoebox.

Not Only Did He Need a Pair of Prosthetic Shoes Because It Was Problems with His Feet, but They Were the Right Size and Only God Can Coordinate That and so Pray Pray What God Would Have You Put in the Shoebox. If It's Something You Know What You Might Think Strange. Don't Don't Question and Just Put It in Well and No Fun Knowing You Folks for over the Years.

This Is Something That Means a Great Deal to You, That You Get a Great Deal Out Of It.

I Go to the Gideon She Do a Wonderful Job Sharing God's Word with People That You Come in Contact with.
