That song from the 50s is young man went off on the motorcycle and then we followed up with a little Kenny Rogers right, you spotted that right out the bed and it had been for ever since I've heard that I used to love that song but my brother was a real fan of that something so crash and feel the burn. Well I have a story I'm sure in a minute. As I went to Florida last week and crashed and burned but the feeling of the burning is the part really amazes me in an I don't know if you've ever noticed this but when you crash however that may look people come running from all over. If you're truly in a laying there in need. It's amazing the people come out of the woodwork company.

Bob absolutely the first thing that comes to mind is when we had the fire and needs to say five companies where there John put the fire out, and in the next morning we show that and just start just get started cleaning up and everything. The neighbor showed up Joe Rogers from over Southside bargain Center shut it at a coffee pot. He had coffee yet cups he had done nuts and got a supplied where we could actually have a pot of coffee in the morning and you little things like that just really stick with you the guy that was handling my advertising.

He had been there the day before Emma signed it already been downtown and got things started where we could have a temporary set up and we never missed a day at work to burn your place to the ground and never miss a day at work because people just jumped in just really eager to help and so when you said that this morning on a cow. That's what will be talking about.

I really value just rang my bell completely and little thing down a date will not little thing, but the tragic accident at what we thought was tragic. That turned out to be glorious accident at Daytona.

You know that just fit right in there with it right.

Bob was at Daytona last week and so he was in the stands and the final lap apparently were this phenomenal what looked like a goodly crash that we were sure. I mean, there was no doubt in our minds and only my buddy Mr. Eddie Robbins from Robin sandblasting a telling Bob. He's all right and I thought he was just trying to be optimistic in this and that and I'm usually usually the eternal optimist, but I was just sure Ron Newman was staying there was no doubt in my mind we were at the restaurant later on getting a bite to eat and lady walked up to a group behind this is that how you are doing so well were all right, but pretty sure somebody died at the track tonight and everybody that saw it especially if you are there and just in a week. It was just no no doubt in your mind that he was really hurt bad or dead. Fortunately he wasn't. I won the bid I get to go to get to Florida and get this boat powered siding so Danny let me his Dodge truck, which was a hemi which was absolutely awesome. It's wonderful we get down there at 6 o'clock Monday morning to pick up the sailboat and I go to put the ball on the hitch of the you know and I had thought I had the right size ball but we didn't and it was a 2 inch ball and I discovered that they have receivers. I never knew where the ball was actually it's welded into the receiver gets all one piece all and then to make a little more exciting. There was a lock on the receiver that he didn't have the key for so that led to the next burn to go to a drilling place for the use in settling towards now my wife is not easy about she she's not the greatest swimmer. Perhaps she's a little uneasy about this whole sailboat experience laughed at a few details in this you get a feel of it as we begin to look at the sailboat. My wife begins asked the man selling it to us. Has your wife ever written on the sailboat. She did once. Why just once. Well I flipped it over and get out and then she noticed it didn't have a motor because it's just a little sailboat you use it, and she goes will you not have a motor, what happens if the wind dies down and go so I've been told a bunch of times. Euros now my wife is very uneasy about taking that absolutely I would be any swimming lessons, and lifesaving and I would be.

I need you guys know this but Bob and I will Bob save my life. One time you along these lines. You know where I was in the water so he knows that I'm not exactly, not accident-prone. Whatever.

So here's the deal we get the sailboat were in Florida to be a beautiful day working to go sailing and the first thing we gotta do is we gotta set up the mast and put up for sale. We'll do all this stuff because the boats on the trail and my wife was real uneasy about that. As you can imagine kids got a 22 foot master. Gotta bring us up to go to put the cables down the called stays and you know she's helping with all this. She did great. We got the master we had the sales already to go.

Life was looking great and then I was going to put the boat in the water.

Bob and we were going to go sailing for the first time in our new sailboat.

Well, I figured I better swing wide because you know this.

This was in order to get the sailboat trying to just go right into the water I I had failed to see that there was a lamp overhead and not usually telling a sailboat with a 22 foot mast start to see this picture, so crystal clear, as I I'm I'm watching the rearview mirrors. I'm as I'm kind swing around and all of a sudden I see the boat kind of just like movable I might want and I go look outside and I stopped the truck and I go out there and the boat. It it it doesn't look all that different, but I look up in the trailer and the master snapped off right word light post is in the cables and parts of the sailor hangover in the sales torn and I all my plans of driving to Florida you see all the stuff people came running from everywhere. There were couples, I can believe that all nobody knows me. I mean I'm in some place I've never been at a little beach in Florida and people came from all I had totally crashed.

God really got my attention with a sailboat thing. I couldn't help but note all the people that came in all the things I start remembering like when I was crushed by the Jeep bomb. The people came running and I start to think about different times I'd crashed and burned in my life and it's amazing all the help that came so I was asking actually Jesus about all this and and he he he pointed me to this first which is Psalm 51 now, if you know Psalms 51 is what David had just gone through all the shenanigans of Bathsheba right and him he is trying to confess to get clean and at the end of that Psalm is verse 17 near the end of it. He says the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit and a broken and a contrite heart these, oh God, you will not despise with you to see my face with my mast in half and all that is going on my I had a broken heart. I did and and I had a contrite spirit. I did and and all the sudden all these people and the reason I think they came personally is God sent him scoop you up right that and and I think because we all bear the image of God that we reflect him. And so when we see somebody with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, we naturally jump in there and we we want to do whatever we can do because right were in his image. When Rob Stephen when Rob passed the unit I was completely annihilated. Now, and I knew I had to move in a forward direction, but one of Rob's friends was in Florida.

Rob passed at 11 o'clock at 1230 that night.

One of his buddies put in my hands slip on my couch and we started at the door. The next morning and I started toward the driver seat of my suburban like I wasted and he's wound about leaving cases. I didn't drive appear to ride around with you. I'm here to drive you around because you've on the on the phone and you only make them cows that were going have to go here were going have to go there and you will need best friend perspective from me and and were going get through this together and without him, I would've been a train wreck that just to have cemented just to drive me around, and that you know the mud to talk to some of that love must sign in and it was one of Robert, if you hear this. Thank you, thank you very much because it was one of the greatest gifts and when the biggest pickups I've ever had in my life and he he he race me up and and just help me like nobody ever has. I do know the Lord I drink a little bit too much and drive and I like to bet the car I was going out to a club in Long Island New York where we live and fell in the backseat with sound asleep later became my best man and seller driver and passenger seat became my business partner fear.

I was on the Long Island Expressway and I had too many to drink and I was driving my father's 57 Ford had no power steering no power break.

Nothing that I forestry my Armstrong and I don't write because I deal about 40 years after that I'm playing with the steering wheel my friend in the front seat was wide awake. Who hadn't drank trying to coax me away from stop to stop driving I lost control of the vehicle spun completely around banged in the middle guardrail the center of the Long Island Expressway and I wound up facing traffic head-on in the middle lane broke the a frame of the car you know any printed I do don't have them anymore because were coming at me.

I'm laughing.

Luckily, the Lord spared merely they were probably about a mile up the road.

My friend talk me into letting him drive and he got it halts excessively but my woke up the next morning I just broke into a script remembered absolutely everything that happened, and the like. In slow motion. Right like I can read the install motion. I and convinced that you what I go back and think about how the Lord protected meal years.

I didn't become a believer goes 41 but that still comes back in on me that I could kill my two best friends and yourself now and and myself and the pity of it now. I had a few of those in my teen years into Bob, and I don't think I have a nice time and how the lunch I had their semi times that my ignorance should've taken me away from here. And the Lord just had a bigger and better purpose for me and he came around in the event.

My Sunday school teacher, said Robbie we would do it for more people if they would let us. They rob us of the joy of helping out, which is the in the burn right being the love of God, burning for your brother is in trouble and whatever the situation is, but you got one my churches come through for us so many times and they were so ready. Theirs is ready for anything and anything that comes up, and we've had a brother that's passed away. Mr. Stephens Linsky. He on the TCB lateral 150 and he just closes business circumstances and the PM went to the doctor, thinking he had a fling and then he finds out that it wasn't the flu heads and aggressive stomach cancer so immediately.

The church gets together and they plan a big fundraiser to help dad and help with his expenses and everything and before we can get to that to the fundraiser is a can't. His cancer was so aggressive he passed away. He passed away February 4 fundraiser scheduled for the sixth but we need the need was even stronger now so affects its church still moving forward with fundraiser and set out for us. February the anymore March 6 and the if if anyone would like to help out with that make a donation in our economy were having a steak dinner that night and where getting people to donate things that we can auction off raffle off and just trying to do what we can for this man's family. They've done it for people in the community that don't go to church and and it's just that burning love they have and they were there ready to help you know everybody helped out my situation with Rob.

We were expecting a pretty big crowd and everything and I didn't have to think that any other friends who don't know Bob lost his son Rob on 1096 Syria 109 2014 January 9, but churches came through for SNB and and everybody.

It helped that they were prepared over prepared and they were just prepared for anything.

They had every chair every chair in our church boy chair from other churches and and we just were able to give my son as fine a sendoff as I could ever imagine and that meant so much to me for everybody just come running like that and just to sweep me up in the arms and just love them in help me get through what I had to get three you know that's it's just amazing to me. It really is inner when you really are at the place for God. After all this happened like my wife and I have been through all these different things to get and what a precious thing. You know the sailboat can be fixed but oh my gosh to my wife.

You know I I told her that night at dinner. I said I just love that scene were Bob Hope was singing in there talking about you to live in life together and Sharon things that only a husband and wife to bring together 33 years dammit I you know that have a feeling that that that that like we've lived this broken mast, whatever it may be Danny looks like you had some USA know you're okay. I and people I would like to hear what you belong to the church.

I've been speaking this far as United Methodist Church in Midway, North Carolina. That's where I got. It's really close to my home as a church I married in tea and my son was raised there and even through a divorce. I've managed to maintain his eyes united Texas writer met yet another method is not enough.

You've heard this Jeannie, but the methods they've united my church, the one that I that when the team adult wheelchair ramp and all for me is Calvary Baptist Church and it made a little different situation, but I think that it's been my experience and I guess that's been is that you're not, you don't have to be sitting in the pew long before you realize a church is Jesus. If Jesus is there. You will feel loved Juergen I feel people reach out and want to connect with you if you're not feeling that your current church in all my guess is Jesus is American Sufis.

There is no it seems like there's going to be this and let me tell you I say this because I think is actually a critical point that Jesus is full of grace and truth will grace means favor, which means it.

Jeannie you know this but you are Jesus's favorite and and and so if you ever been with somebody when you're in their presence. You feel like man that God treats me like like I'm his favorite and that's what Jesus is the so follow that with eminence can be unbelievable. And so for not experiencing that by the people around us in the church were in them. That church isn't filled with grace and and people are treated each other like their favorites and so there's opportunity for you to bring the grace to that church, which may be you know is you to reach out and show grace to be other people you might be the one bringing the bring in the heat burn where we help people heal you with quite right purpose. When you help and and have a story and help them out. I think it be wonderful that what got it right. I was doing now action. There's no doubt in my mind he sends those people to help us when we are broken and contrite and we are feeling those things.

What's awesome about that too, but I've experienced both sides is that the one like yourself receiving the help and is is blessed by that but the folks that are giving the help are also just as blessed by the by the giving. As as we are on the receiving which is what the Jesus labor. Love is for those you don't know what's car repair labor for single moms and widows and families in crisis that we do here in the Christian Car Guy showed any is very aware that where we get an opportunity to be the church we get to be that the body of Christ that that that comes running for these people are broken and they have the humility Bob to call and ask for help or to fill out an application and say hey I'm broke down on the side of the road.

You know, how can you and and we do what we can and the reason we can do that is because the listeners that contribute the listeners that pray for the Jesus labor love all that stuff happens as a result of you know, together were united, like the Methodist Bob allows my mom back in the 93 day after Christmas and 93, and so many people at that church. So many ladies there are three in particular Barbara Gilbert Maryhill Miss Piggy Adam. They all adopted me right then immediately and and they mothered me they were my mom's. They were ones I could turn to for guidance or are just you know a hug when I got to Jerry's and others in Scripture about that. It's in Mark chapter 10 if I'm not mistaken where Jesus says those of you who leave no lands in this and that and mothers and fathers will not fail to receive 100 times as many mothers, brothers does happen to mention 100 fathers, but for obvious reasons, but it does say 100 mothers and and that's really cool that God gives us all these different mothers absolutely mean they they just take me under their wing and if I happen not to be at church for a little while and I said back up.

They were just like a good see it way library then you know glad to see me when I got there they didn't condemn me when I didn't, and the feeling of that feeling and that, love was what made me want to serve the church and and maybe wanted you know get involved with the Yi and just give back to the church.

Anyway, I could because of the example set by fine people like them really and that cool it's just like wow wait.

We now get to be a brother to to so many that we see when they crash, but here we are in a whatever that may look like we get a chance to give back what we've been giving him if I ever see somebody with air mass hanging out over light pole for the go-ahead.
