Financial capital financial USA.com.

This is the gold show. I'm not sure you're aware of this but NC state is headed to Clemson to play the times I have not heard that it it does feel like a big game to me.

I could be wrong. Feels like a big game. I know we have multiple conversations about this tomorrow. We have been sprinkling it in all week. Part of. Part of me wonders if for if state fans are just like was getting just let let's play the game already.

This I said on Monday going to be a long week. Still have two full days and rested today 1 o'clock where you done yet. We done today all day tomorrow and then you got all day Saturday just deprived on game but really really good weekend of ACC football with wake playing at Florida State 330 in front of the Wolfpack and Tigers at 730 both games nationally televised on ABC all right. We do this, it is a listener choice. This is simply a poll question today.

Yesterday Erin judge in Toronto hi Roger Marist for the American League home run record single-season home run record with 61. A mystified day by game of going past the Babe Ruth maybe is to get going past Babe Ruth because Ruth did his 60 and 154 game schedule worth pointing Marist who nobody wanted to break Ruth's record dated in the final game of the season that year and there was a bit*because hundred 62 game season. Verse hundred 54 game season with that set. Assuming that judge hits one more home run which would give him 62 and put them ahead of Marist.

He will have the American League single-season home run record of 62 nobodies at more than that.

We have had 60 home run seasons before we had McGuire at 70 and Sosa had 66 in 1998 Barry bonds has the record of 73 in 2001. So I asked had Victoria ask and I retweeted the question assuming judge does this cool is the homerun king for a single-season is it Barry bonds 73 Erin judge with would be 62 or more 919-860-5326. We do have twitter responses that I will get to on. I know this is going to sound too simplistic and there is a larger conversation to be had with the impact of performance-enhancing drugs in the sport and is also nuanced within performance-enhancing drugs because, as a lot of people point out amphetamines were a thing for a long time, not just in baseball but in sports, so there is that factor as well. Amphetamines are different than steroids. There's no strength building that amphetamines allow the I will just save the apologists, the apologists say while there's no proof that steroids work really then why do people.

Why do bodybuilders take them if there's no proof they work. There must be at least anecdotal evidence.

So let's stop with that. Also, apologists will say, well, the best thing about steroids is that they allow you to maintain heavier workouts because they aid in recovery that is true they do and that's why a lot of times garden-variety people like you and me will be given steroids to aid in recovery from injury, illness is not quite the same sudden and at an anabolic steroid. But some people are prescribed anabolic steroids to recover from injury and illness and this human growth hormone to okay but that's not what were talking about here in its use. Because it it does both. It does aid in muscle development and it does aid in recovery so you can go harder the next time which by the way, that hard work is not lost on me. That's work put in Barry bonds had to do work you just injected into your bicep or rubber cream on your legs and the muscles for you still need to do the work but they allow you to do the work. They allow you to do more, which we could have a debate of more than that. That's fair or not.

Number 98605326 but with all of that said and knowing that bonds was a steroid user and McGuire and Sosa were both steroid users that even a dispute, Alex Rodriguez whites twice caught steroid user Manny Ramirez twice caught steroid use.

The record is 73.

If you choose to denigrate the player.

I have a problem with that because it is a black mark on the sport that we all know that bonds 73, was a mistake that he had 73 because he was doing steroids because I don't know how you prove that you can't write. I just don't know how you prove that he still had the put back to ball so I just don't know how you say, 73, because because I will say this Erin judge had he not slow down and not help homeward in each of last seven games. Erin judge is at 61 now and if he gets a handful more. It's three more between now and the end of the season and the total number is 64 84 from 73 so what you're saying is that judge is this much better than bonds bonds career-high before we think he started using steroids was 47 right back in the 80s and think it was the early 90s, 1993 I think was the year he was a three-time MVP before he got to the Giants before he started using steroids and for most people believe and I think this is the. The research is bit, bears this out.

The bonds didn't start using until McGuire and Sosa stage that summer to remember and bonds was the best player in the game.

At the time was past because quite where these guys get know the pub. McGuire is so one trick pony only as a homeowner. Sosa paid that good either. According to bonds. I think all three should be in the whole thing but the bonds that you know what to do. This share wasn't against the rules of the time it was a gift. That's the misnomer.

It was against the rules.

If you are found to have used steroids. There was a banishment you're going to be suspended and favorites of the commissioner time send out a letter to all teams, steroids are still illegal, but there was no drug testing. So there was no provision to suspend and punish players for using so it became difficult golden studio in Monaco speed to run with the capital financial advisory group. We are talking retirement coach. Let's say I have more than $1 million balance in my 401(k) revelations that determine how connect actually come back and bite me because in this is a thing that we did we get a mirage receive mirages of certain of the desert before you see what's what.

Her head was not there when your financial garage is thinking that that total balance in your 401(k) or diary is yours. We have two people that want to get a hold of the two uncles uncle North Carolina and Uncle Sam both of you to do some damage to the balance depending on what kind of other income you have lose 40% of your belly. So if you're looking at a million-dollar IRA Vegas we were 6000 you. So how do we get around is what you'll get around it could end up in jail to try to do what you can do tax planning to minimize the effect of taxation into the future.

The text train is coming out and we need to make sure to minimize the effect of the derailment of a financial accountant for the next 10 people will do the no-cost relegation put together your very own tax and retirement plan 800-661-7383 or text Adam to 21000 for coach beetroot. We don't have to like it but Barry Bonds is the home run record holder and that is just the reality, and maybe it's good that baseball has to deal with Paul from Durham.

But what's going on in, longtime liquor great show think they all got a good week and had to yeah and that bond might also have been using growth hormone because the size of the head diameter and lives of his hand also got larger, I never heard about the size of his hands. I don't know that it makes your bones grow yeah it makes your bones grow 36 steroids make me taller.

I need that Seo seriously makes your book makes your bones grow actually losing Paul here I not now. I know we get into the head because there's muscles around the head like I get the actual actually get bigger, never heard what I think Rick will probably Erin judge is going to get the American League home run record, but probably those guys in the National League. They need them at Rick after their days stating that this was the era of the performance-enhancing ideas just no quantifiable way then you risk on the entire era. You're not putting in*by the way, we don't really know when that era started but you granted*on the entire era, not on not on not on individual records you just say that everything from 1986 through nine 2005 that everything that 20 year span is tainted and that means were tainting a lot.

That means were tainting Jeter that means were tainting players like that and and well what he use we don't know and that's my yet we don't know. My issue with all of this is that it's unquantifiable and there's no way to get around that. Paul, I appreciate your comment. Take care okay night.good work.

Thank you very much.

I have not heard that I might need some confirmation that anabolic steroid use makes your bones bigger because like I could do my Outlook to be 510. I'm thinking about it now about 510.

Like hello disciple, glad to be on to become 510 Resident Dr. I need to know these answers so do I rub my head to get taller do I rub my feet to guide need to know I got a JP in Wilmington JP what's up on my back. I agree with you on bonds and photo venture. All of that kind of thing. This situation outweigh the weight and be situation now helps MLB how they play their cards with that. You know baseball doesn't control that you know that forward. For what whether or not there is an honor whether or not every day for judges. As the record now that would be a major-league decision but they're not taking on Aaron judge had the record not now.

If they would've done that if I do that before saying if they don't think that it's only a matter time to make it all.

McGuire and Sosa no longer on the ballot. I think bonds off about two so the I swear I thought Barry Bonds was on the other day.

You might be on the ballot for one more year, but I think they were still hopeful that he did it well know there's other as other avenues, veterans committees and things like that.

I read your college if you save a phone conversation I I have taken a very good friend of mine is calling in. My friend Ernie, Ernie, how are you this is your goal. I we are talking baseball and basketball here a minute. The words are baseball (not just you know, I know, growth hormones, and all that stuff you know, that should be for all people, not for baseball players, but I was looking at the bracket or the National League and Mark Cardinal went out wildcard game we played America place where we are normal, not counting any chickens that stopped when the division Cardinal oh yeah will come home on Carmel and the run from your mouth to Buck Showalter's office and truest in Atlanta.

The Mets need to win if they can win two of those games and I think it's a wrap, but will have to win those games or you know what I mean nothing when I look for certain things that you say your wishes come true. Thank you very word all right out of love talking baseball you can continue talking to the house. I love it. It's it's coming.

Thank you very much.

I talked to since so my friend Ryan Geisinger Lee bad flare, one of our crack NBA analyst.

Let me ask this question. Aside from the unreliability of Tyree your let's just assume Tyree's in a great mental state, and Tyree is ready to go for 82 courses going to get injured in this probably 20 but let's just say play 6032 players in the NBA better than Tyler and carrier know they're not that comes with all of the defensive limitations of Chi rearing to the shotmaking he brings to the offense of side of the floor is truly special like it.

He and he is even among amongst a crowd of sort of like lead guard shot creators initiators in the NBA in the world. She is among the best among the most artful like the grapes would Chi rearing have nothing to do with his encore play when he's there, he's usually incredibly incredibly good is not like a top 10 player in the world, but he probably falls somewhere from 18 to 30 somewhere in that range and to be clear, the Zion know you just mentioned, we can just keep it in the brotherhood here if he's right yet he's way better than the 40th player is a top, probably 12 to 15 Claire Lisi was two seasons ago in 2020 2041 season.

I am fascinated to see what what he's gonna look like. Let me ask you about a couple of I want to ask about the limit just about a couple of other things real quick.

I Steve Nash, the head coach of the net. Still, we all thought that whole thing was going to blow up but he is still the head coach of the Nets. Let's find not knocking it on my thing is bad coaches. I don't really know he hasn't really had the full deck of cards that he was that he bought that they bought for him for various reasons. He says he doesn't care if Ben Simmons ever shoots he's lying right I actually kind of think there's at least some kernel of truth to that think they have enough shooting on this roster with Joe Harris back healthy. Kari Irving Kevin Durand, one of the greatest shooters in the history of basketball. Patty Mills, so there is some shooting on this roster.

In fact, quite a good bit of it and if you have Simmons as your defective center or the one interior player that's also going to give you some ballhandling offense, then it is okay if he's not shooting from outside the floaters donor outside the pain, it will become tough though if there to be some lineups from Brooklyn that include both Ben Simmons and Nick Claxton are probably not familiar close games with those guys. Simmons continues to be just like a net negative in terms of assuring output, but at this point goal concerning fact that Simmons hasn't played an NBA game and working close to 18 months now. I think at this point you're just hoping that he can get on and get yo can you be eating 90% of it was all in the 18 2021 the best from your vendors the world think that's really what you're holding is the written pressure in the perimeter defense can give you some screen role-play making you live with that. Any shooting topic is crazy. It will create issues for them and some of their lives.

So the lack of shooting with likely Nick Claxton. The way I look at it when we have had many conversations about my view of Ben Simmons and whether I'm right or not, and I believe that if you are going to be part of the big three with Tyree and Kevin are and maybe we don't need three anymore.

Maybe it's just too and everybody else is complementary that that would be a fair response to that, but if you're to be playing heavy minutes for a team that is has designs on winning an NBA championship and I'm not sure that there's a more talented team than the Brooklyn Nets when it's all said and done, but if you could be on that court for 35 to 40 minutes a night, especially in the playoffs. If you are an unwilling shooter in your plan for on five offensively yeah yeah I mean it's a huge huge concern that you think the these sort of like the brilliance of the shotmaking of Durand, and Irving helps offset that a little bit and who knows, maybe fingers crossed.

Teacher Warren is healthy this year for them and you got another sort of like bucket get her on the printer that can scored a bunch of different levels. Harris Harris and there's actually some maybe Tehran shark takes a step forward in the center rotation probably will get a charter member got Alanis Williams to a contrast Brooklyn to see this and find tobacco Road connections in Brooklyn and that's not the easy turn at Berkeley center. The Scouting BCC as well. Clearly, but I do think the main thing is it's the play, making the connecting Simmons in transition, where he has sent you about him. He's always limited as he is in half-court and those usually get sort of like faintest the playoffs go along when he is on postseason teams. The transition game is always been there. The defense has always been there and I think Brooklyn can just vacant land in the ground of being a competent playoff team that gets pretty good production of Ben Simmons.

It's maybe still falling short of where you would imagine a big three of Tyree Durand and Simmons could have landed you in your say 2019 or 2018 or something like that. But given with the last couple of years of been like for Brooklyn.

I think you would think you'd actually be pretty happy with that, especially after this type of off-season. The one thing I do want to say about Simmons. I think this gets lost in some of the Simmons at center discourse is that yes it's good to make sense offensively for him to play center and certainly he can guard some centers and some powerful words in the MBA degree must guard every position type what Simmons does best is not protect the rim defensively. His best stuff is guarding 28 feet from the rim. So I think a lot of people keep centering to keep falling back on Simmons at five. That's Brooklyn's best line. I agree, but it is not like a defensively, Simmons may be in some situations that are supportive or he's not optimized, necessarily, so I do think it's one other thing to consider. Brooklyn tingles forward Celtics have had a tumultuous last few weeks, MA, Delco, one of the best coaches in the league is certainly in the second half of last year as Boston went bananas and ended up in the NBA finals. So he's gone for the year may never return. What is that impact this episode is brought to you by Samsung unfold the all new galaxies. Visit Samsung.com to learn more about galaxies he fold and stuff to say, like I think it's one of the things were. I think this team has enough on paper. If healthy and if which at this point is, even if this character decidedly not healthy. But where they could just say like okay we got the infrastructure in place with God for returning our top eight from season to go on the team that the best that rating in the league and came within a couple of buckets basically of beating Steph Curry in the NBA finals were good. Let's go something like this could be weathered, at least in terms of the locker room, but you have to listing some trees talk about showed stuff to sort of like address the situation with Tito because there is so much unknown still right as I do try to trade a little bit likely all around those types of things.

But if were just talking about on court plate. I think they could. I think they for the most part they can handle it. What I worry about gold is the injury to Robert Williams who is site defensive all defensive team defensive player of the year to candidate a total game changer with what he does defensively how the Celtics deploy him defensively to miss the next couple of months Canal corporate age 30.

Whatever give you another type of season like that like they really lean on him pretty heavily last year and I get to know: Re: missed the entire season with an elementary, so get ready to see Sam how circuit minutes from formerly Virginia get ready see Lou Cornett get minutes. Those are the things I worry about elite again in terms of what was happening on the court, then the terms of, as opposed to your house this team to respond to Joe Missoula. So again I think he certainly missed someone like you don't go because I do think coaching does matter to the extent it's tough to measure how much he does so therefore it's sort of tough to answer a question like this company wins is awesome. I'm not entirely sure what I do worry about more though, is this hanging over the top of the team. It's now dealing with injuries to some of its key and best players by the ways I think a jazz guitarist of God's album somewhere in the final thing for Brian Geisinger. You can follow him on Twitter at big ice_bird league pass layer our NBA analyst, so the Hornets went back to the future. Steve Clifford is that he is the head coach. I like to think that there was a good coach when he was here but I also didn't mind the guy they just had. I don't know what they're doing, where is this organization right now it is, like floating out there.

Assertive without a rudder or are they in a vague kind of pointed in the right direction.

The goal will have enough time to get into every single aspect of it will save those sick babies. Some of those conversations fully for off airport right now. I do think Lexi Clifford is a good head coach James Wright of the former head coach yet and in let's not forget that last September nearly 12 months ago James Riggle received a contract extension column and nine months later, six months later he was he was gone after another. Sort of disappointing result in the playing game is tough to say that this team really has a direction other than theoretically build it up around the metal ball so there is still some tentpole. Write like you have a guy that just turned 21 is probably the top 3040 player in the NPA. He's getting better and he's made his first All-Star roster age 20 so it's like you're not completely in the dark right not wandering the wilderness of the NBA like they were in the years before the mellow land landed in Charlotte but looking around the roster right now and look especially after the crimes that Miles Bridget's off-season. There's really there really isn't another active young superstar that's on this roster. Currently there some good young players like I like Peter Washington a lot I think is a chance of a big season.

Mark Williams could be a good player like they traded Wayne the 13th pick couple months ago at the draft jail and turning to Detroit so they could dump salary theoretically max out Miles bridges and Ryan fact that that was blown up a couple of nights later. So did systema have a direction I think yes to an extent because lamella ball is one of the best young gospel players the world and I think Mitch Kupchak has. It is a consolidated GM in there some good young players on this roster will see what changed this year
