Financial capital financial.com. This is the gold show 6 o'clock tonight Eastern time major league baseball trade deadline before we get to the big news Juan Soto has been dealt is Jacob the ground day and I'll bring this up because I am a Mexican and I haven't seen Jacob crumpets since July 7 of last year when the second, I want to be honest I bring this up because I am a Mets fan Elliott Johnson never played for the Mets played for other teams in the big leagues. He joins us to toddler trade deadline baseball did any team get better than the Mets did by adding Jacob pogrom to the roster. He will pitch tonight in Washington. Wow, what a question, leading with and and unrelated to the trade guideline and so anyway, we are created will personal Adam when you get your question before going to give a shout out to both the Little League on the state of North Carolina in Durham and is headed to play in Warner Robins against Virginia on Thursday so want to give a shout out to the local boys make us proud don't want Soto going to the Padres. I think it makes them infinitely better because think about it this way everybody to get to hit around him is going to be better.

You can require so much more of a taxing or even attack the opposing oppositions pitching in so many different ways of the guy hitting in front of him is very happy. The guy getting behind and have a lot more what you all, which is also to make it paid a lot better because back in the RBIs back extra-base hit all kinds of different things so I think Juan Soto's addition to the Padres probably have a more fundamental change to the rest of the guys on the team with the Padres and Jacob pogrom you are more than more than okay. Being run on this is interesting.

The lineup Soto settee's Machado Bell. If that's the way they were to go my gosh because Josh Bell's part of that deal from Washington to San Diego and the middle of that order. Probably the best middle of the order in the entire in a major-league baseball may be the Yankees can come close to that because era judges in it and Aaron judges like three different people but let me let me just go to the Jacob pogrom because I wrote these down with the intent of saying it. So I just want your reaction to these stats from last year he pitched 92 innings before shutting it down with an elbow spring 92 innings 15 starts 11 earned runs 52 baserunners and a 146 to 11 strikeout to walk ratio. How do you put that into context. I believe that Pedro Martinez for seven years was the greatest pitcher that there has ever been. And those numbers dwarf anything Pedro did while hard to fathom because I remember how special it was good. Like Dr. grief he was so good back in the day so yeah I mean I can I get it. I think the Mets have.

I think were going to step into the.

The old adage of good pitching be good hitting and typically I think the answer is yes, because announcers are there to help wrong and I think we talked about this in the past. It's reminiscent of having Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling going. Basically four games and you only need one for the other to go there to go for the seven and if they win every single one of those outings is another serious threat the way that's really all about.

We don't know what to look like he was throwing 100 in his minor-league rehab start so the velocities clearly there, but the command is really what is separated pogrom from everything else because me just throws he's just a strike thrower much like matchers or has been, and I love watchers's influence has been on the rest of the pictures Tyler Taylor Walker is at a great year and they have other good pictures as well in the back into their bullpen is way better than the backend of the Arizona Diamondbacks pulled them in 2001 parlance, let's get to know this to be delivered with a capital financial advisory group. We are talking retirement coach. Let's say you have more than $1 million balance in my 401(k) revelations connect actually come back and bite me because this is a thing that we did we get the Mirage received the Rogers of the desert before you see what's what. Her head was not there when your financial garage is thinking that that total balance in your 401(k) or IRA is yours. We have two people that want to get a hold of the two uncles North Carolina and Uncle Sam both ever get to do some damage.

The balance depending on what kind of other income you have loose 40% of value. So if you're looking at a million-dollar IRA that is only worth 6000 you. So how do we get around is what you don't get around it could end up in jail.

If you try to do that. What you can do tax planning to minimize the effect of taxation into the future.

The tax train is coming out and we need to make sure to minimize the effect of the derailment of a financial accountant for the next 10 people will do it at no cost or obligation. Put together your very own tax and retirement plan 800-661-7383 or text Adam to 21000B to route what the what the light just around the league.

The Astros made two pretty important trades yesterday getting Christian Basque as a catcher from Boston right before their game against the Red Sox in Houston and then they got Trey Mancini from Baltimore. What does that do for Houston young young Tim reference back. It was currently The Yankees in that series. So clearly that the rafters move is to take the pressure off Maldonado and hopefully add a little bit more often what it generally produces because the great country generally doesn't hit a whole lot and not to say that basket you know is Johnny bench, but he is relative to the production in the league probably second behind railroad so there's not a lot of hitting that comes from that position now that the Buster Posey got it again right that it is a very very pedestrian offense of position. It is what it is so terms of the marketplace probably found themselves the guy that can help make them better. Mancini's a really good player really is. You know that they haven't had a lot of production from first base. This year, so you can help them tremendously from that standpoint I did it but you know, again, one of the narratives that I'd like it out there is mostly teams are so good and there are and already that it in a lot of ways it doesn't really make sense for them to try to make changes because their team is already so good because one of the problems that we have with the teams painting is most of the playoffs are almost settled already out so strange to be having a conversation with early because we could return back last year. The brave were one game under 500 and end up winning the whole thing. You know so and really given bottles a lot of credit for going out making those acquisitions that he did because it made a huge difference on their ability to end up winning but a lot of the things are so good already. That really doesn't make any sense for them to mortgage the future, but I see with the Padres had to do to try to beat the doctors I get it. I understand that I respected and hopefully we get the really exciting baseball from the MLS and in a way with the Padres did has nothing to me you're not catching the Dodgers there dozen games behind Los Angeles or not to catch them but what they did do was try to set themselves up for a potential series with the Dodgers because ultimately, baseball has become like every other professional sport tournaments for the regular season is one thing and then you get to the playoffs, which is a tournament and best team in the tournament is going to win what you did over hundred and 62 games get you some advantage playing at home when it matters, but other than that that's all it got you, it doesn't. You don't have to win one less game than somebody else.

If you know if you're the Dodgers you still would have to beat the Padres of the Mets or the Braves ultimately they could do that last year right well you just want to get to the dance right right. If you can't remember the national awning couple years ago that I think they were the worst team record like going into it so that kind of tells you just gotta get to the dance of anything can happen after the so I'm like what the Padres did in terms of stacking that lineup and also getting Josh cater the closer from Milwaukee if it was done through a little bit of a rough stretch here but the best hater should be pretty good. Closing out games for the Padres and will see how that'll then do you think the Dodgers need to react.

Last year they go out and they get shares her and Trey Turner from Washington as they started their tanking. Then what did the Dodgers need to react well I don't know. So think you're wrong about that, but that's a pretty big sound of the those are two pretty big ads for the Padres well to keep in mind also. Something to think about the Dodgers have died interpolating the out and came up and I think you went to for 33 RBI home run may come back to write down leg up Michael Bush down AAA or anything got so many guys out there that are really good that are probably ready to return. So they got the got more than enough.

We just don't know about them yet, but they got plenty of guys down AAA that they did go to market go and establishment.

But… They can plug and play there just it does seem like there Hilliard Johnson is joining us here in the on going to does seem like there are a lot more teams than I expected being interested in being players here, even though as you said earlier, we pretty much know playoff teams are twins were were active enough, we see the Padres. The Yankees got some things on the Braves did some some fringe trimming. They did release Robinson canal, which is the second time he's been outright released this your designated for assignment.

What is the biggest name left now that Juan Soto's gun. Great question, why I didn't see Will Smith traded Broder is an interesting will swap with Astros made with the Braves. I was kind of interesting trading from their starting depth and maybe now I don't know if drinking is available. He probably should be enough probably a name that have established track record for his pulse never changes. No matter what we he's proven that if that's what you're looking for. Shortly a staff, you know, maybe he still moves but that's probably somebody on the periphery. There would probably be better served to the Royals of a movement that Wilson can traverse. I think the razor probably to go get him something like the asking price going around with a little bit too high, but you know I think the company to move him to get something in return form, but it doesn't sound like it was it was a mark little softer on contrast in the car because he was Artie happen with basket moving, so I know everybody within a cursed thing, but probably got impressed so to could you see the Mets going after contrarians as well will ensure that they are just a matter of duty do they need a minute what you're giving up going to be important enough for this year. Again, I am not as concerned about you know the offense of potential there is I am just somebody to catch the ball from the ground that that is just make sure make sure that these two guys are taking care of right final thing for Elio Johnson and this goes back you and I talked about. I think we just texted about it during the when Juan Soto turned down the fort and $40 million deal and my assertion is a player like that who who profiles is maybe the best player in the game. At some point, if not now, that's below market value for somebody who's 23. 15 Years Is Way too long. If you really want to keep in that deal would have been about half that length as opposed to all of that length, but the Braves signed Austin Riley to a 220 $212 million deal for 10 years. He's a young guy and has become an absolute stud that's a great deal for the Braves. I'm not sure it's a great deal for Austin Riley. Riley situation is unique, completely different. Juan Soto also's been either one of the best for the best player in the world for the last few years. You're right. I mean, in the future is getting the kids older than him in the future is reported in the big lake right so Soto's different Riley been a little bit more of call of also hitting career like you been on fire right, I think, is it like for his last known last month of July.

I mean he's on fire and so I don't fault them for getting for going ahead and signing and getting it done because you know if you if you don't have a a trendline that is consistent over a period of time. There is there is been concern that you could end up slipping down you know I mean even her because her history with the he was going through a rough patch and I remember him talking about how big it is out like you got trade in the field. No, you know that there's there's guys that are little bit different.

I think Riley situation completely date unique than Soto.

Words like the AAV for what the national offered look that the reason why they delete that out is to let their fan base know they tried to sign up for 440.

They knew that because below market who says no to 440 million somebody whose work more on Soto so his AAV needs to be closer to 40 million traffic in 36 or 43 that we need to start getting closer to 40 million because that's what he's worth and if they were gonna do that if they were truly serious about like the national don't have dealings with Boris he would need they would need to start around closer to 40 million find a way to negotiate years and then everybody happy. But they didn't do that they were letting the fan base know probably get a move, and it was a better deal for the national if they did move them to get prospect restock because otherwise it would make sense for them beat that top-heavy to pay him even 30 million a year and not be able to put a supporting cast around so easily. The right decision for the nationals but from a PR standpoint they have to get the fan base ready all that was and they did today. Good for the San Diego Padres, even though I'm not a general sale of the brown uniforms. But it's fine. It's old school. I'd like to see them all in yellow again. That would be interesting but it is is cool to have another team go all in place all their chips at the table and now will see a lot of some fun. I think in October.

Let me out with mannitol having such a quiet season this year in San Diego. It's because it San Diego.

It's like it's like if if Shelley Otani was a dodger as opposed to an angel be incensed saying what's going on and next time we talk. We should speculate on what Shelley Otani's free-agent contract will look like, because the blood that is going to be massive Elio Johnson you the best my friend will talk to you soon.

You got Elio Johnson here in the culture. June 19, 2006, but it all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak. Figuring it out on the fly became fifth anniversary of the Carolina listen Phil as everything new like to be talking about the DeShawn Watson situation to the gold, but give him something else. Talk about yeah so the NFL handed down some discipline on the Miami Dolphins. Two things were in their crosshairs. Most notably, the allegations of former coach Brian Florez that the dolphins were actively as an organization trying to tank and that Florez alleges that Stephen Ross offered him money hundred thousand dollars. Additionally for each loss. I remember in his first year think they went six and 10 and the dolphins had a roster that should've gone the two and 14 and they won 6 tons and it made you think wow not only mean the dolphins stumbled upon a lid, chips head coach 511.511. It's still way more wins.

That same performance got what's his name from Georgia Tech, Josh, Pastor, the ACC basketball coach of the year.

They wanted a good but they won a few games and it was a joke. Well, just because a nearby when any and he was and people fell for anyway. Florez 1015 games that year and then in year two. They get off to a terrible start but they did rally and win a bunch of games. Toward the end and he still got got tenant six still got got in the second year they would not last year but still they got off to a terrible start last year if I forgot there was three years there he went to edit tenant six. I think today and made the playoffs that year, but no okay tenant six. That was the expanded playoffs. The first expander plan anyway how I will figure the whole thing out here anyway. The fire last year after my neighbor.

They won like seven of their last eight games or something like that.

They did lose to urban Meyer in London, which is a fireball offense in of itself, but Florez on his way out accused Stephen Ross, the owner of incentivizing losing what you cannot do the NFL ruled today that now that didn't happen. We don't believe Brian Florez couldn't get anybody else to really corroborate that and I might even say the NFL's wrong here, just think they basically dismissed Brian Florez and also said in the statement today released by the league that Stephen Ross was joking when he said that all right, that's your story.

What they did during the dolphins on was tampering with Tom Brady all the way back when he was still with patriots before the 2019 season. The last one before the pandemic. They've they found that the dolphins is an organization had contact with Brady about his future after the Pedro everybody knew that that was last year New England he was going to move on. The dolphins wanted to be to Miami. There was some there's a mention about going after Sean Payton as well and the tampering with Brady continued while he was in Tampa winning a Super Bowl so the NFL hit the dolphins with loss of a first round pick in next years draft, and 1/3 round pick in the following years, But no punishment. It appears for incentivizing, losing. This is the atom gold shell June 19, 2006, but all started May 6, 1997 with the announcement that the Hartford whalers were coming to North Carolina transition of heartbreak.
