High School Football gets underway in North Carolina

Financial capital financial. This is the gold shell starts in – 12 weeks high school football but start practice starts this week.

My kids start soccer practice I guess is tryouts on Monday but easily. So not that big a deal. Or maybe it is Nick Stevens.

So there are other parents can plan your scholarship visits and all of pilots that let's get right to it at give me a sense for like the level of football high school football in the state of North Carolina now versus a domino five or 10 years ago. I would say the state high school football in North Carolina has grown exponentially in the last decade.

You look at the amount of talent coming out of our state back.

There's other schools have done the same. But you know where we are seeing a lot of our top talent stay and then if you look at how they progress through college and get to the NFL were seeing a lot of them have success at that level II and I think that that speaks volumes for where football isn't in the state of North Carolina today for short.

So the season has started with James yet heavily the first week of games in two weeks. Okay first football Friday high school to live the recent names that Thursday night to but we we got a lot to do before then. We been out of practices all week this week just kinda making the rounds in an obviously the summer we reset on sevens next week will be at scrimmages so it's getting more and more real. What were talking about. I Roosevelt Roseville high school, which is a little bit north of the city north of Wake Forest on talk to me.

I know they've got some good players, including the number one player in the state who did managed to escape the fence that was built around the North Carolina border to go to Ohio State I think arguably the best team or did they just have some great players there to be one of the best teams. For sure there will have an argument for the preseason number one spot with precision ratings come out next week know Rogers is a guy you talk about 60 wide receiver is a four star player Maclaren estate number six wide receiver in the nation going Ohio State and he is very very good and he makes Dennis Dr. Constance LUV seen some of these games for roles what he makes some of the most incredible catches I've ever seen high school could make like I was talking to a head football coach at another school here in wake County had a coach against him and he said that was the East Coast for a long time. He said, is the first kid he's ever looked at and said I could come on Sunday is in high school.

Some of the catches he makes are really really amazing roles also has to Marcus Cooley, who plays both sides of the ball and and on special teams return specialist to he is committed. NC State so you got some real talent out there at Rosa back to Marcus is on the TJ clerkship today, right which dropped this morning.

I think a lot of agreement watching world will be watching Cardinal Gibbons, the defending for a state to be managed. Cardinal Gibbons now that we all know that right are always matter but they should be very good again. Middlebrooks got some talent as well. Nathan Leacock, a wide receiver. Millbrook is just me to Tennessee couple weeks ago.

He's very good receiver for the Wildcats and I think they're going to be very strong in the season you know you look at Charlotte and I think there's been a lot of attention on chambers.

Kevin cut section on the wide receiver there is his back did lose the running back Dale and Smothers he transferred from chambers, but there him in the conversation again to make it back to the seachange third or fourth time in row of activities and personalized forget addict brain activity to Lisa. Given white. This is not all that back yet but even there to be a team that is a lobular watching for the Western part Reagan Grimsley. Those two teams in the triad. I think that's can be a real fun will between two traditional powerhouses since you brought up essentially one of these early-season games before we get into conference play. Last August I Emmons in a game that ended at 1 AM that I know Dennis remembers very well and they were both great games so I expect that's can be a real big one.

It's a national game being played at Rock Hill on Saturday, so that they'll be real fun one that a lot of people have circled. I'm interested in seeing some of these rules will nonconference games they are going to have to replace the quarterback from last season. Byron Brown who is really really good for the random size of South Florida now and that you know they've got talent that quarterback position is obviously really critical when you're talking about countywide receivers and I wish to see them and they haven't some tough nonconference games early on Pinecrest East for site couplers. Even I recognize those names to you telling me that Gibbons and Chambers from Charlotte play in South Carolina. They got some real good players on those two teams honestly to perennial powers as well. John Savery Nanda Havelock Eastman NC State JJ Sampson is a defensive lineman at at Eastman Florida State and so you know I think both of those teams are going to have a lot to say about what happens this season as well same question about the triad. I know you already mentioned these for site but who else is for size can always be my conversation. They got a great program. Reagan is a team that has a lot of talent this year out of Forsyth County and Grimsley definitely a team that is going to have a chance to Bob Garrett very talented player there. And Dudley is a defending state champion and also our so that's another team. I final thing we we got mountains do we got beach. We got mouths we got everything. What about done up in the hills logons.

We have not gotten up that way. Yet the season so I have not seen my own eyes up there.

I will say one of the one the stories that I think we can hear a lot about from the mountains this year is Pisgah live people listening remember, but there is a really bad flood Pisgah last year. Last fall, and it wiped out the stadium statement Vista high school and they had to rebuild it and everything since then there not play home at all this year, potentially, which will be the second straight year. They have played every game on the road were actually planning a trip up there to do that story here soon but I think that's can be some that will hear a lot about this year, and the lesser state.

Scottsdale has a collection of really cool places. Also a hotbed of minor-league baseball Scottsdale area. Yeah that area of Arizona cactus league is. And now, about half the team's training Arizona used to be. There were like six teams in Arizona and everybody else was in Florida but now it's about 50-50.

And for whatever reason I don't know. Maybe it's dry. I am but the yeah it was cool to be out there is so many minor-league teams that train probably within a 30 mile radius.

Open seven days a week from eight 10:45 PM to 815 in the morning to 11 PM sports bar that's doesn't breakfast. That sounds amazing. Very nice.

Also check out the Glendale nine drive-in theater drive-in movie theater really dry wood. What year is this the drive drive the drive-in theaters are very underrated and very underappreciated by the love driving. I so fun I can live. I don't think I've ever been to a drive. Yeah, I have been and I know we do this here in Raleigh at the North Carolina Museum of Art lease they use to do anymore movies at movies outside a site. So when I was a kid growing up we where we used to hang go in the summers. This kind of really cold bungalow colony company in the Catskills.

Both times I was out there signing autographs in front of a memorabilia shop canvassing education betting on the red giant line was Vegas right yeah giant line waiting to buy something. So Pete Rose could sign and she would only sign things if you bought it.
