Greetings mentor new listeners welcomed this program at the Archie Heidi ministries.

Not that I'm so glad you joined us today because we know that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God and I'll be bringing you today's message hold on to hope personal experience has taught me that there is no lower pit that the pit of despair and hopelessness that technically and literally.

Christians are never without hope. But we can allow severe circumstances to rob us of hope and plunges into this desperate pit this message today will tell you why and how to hold on to hope hallelujah it's all about glory to God well at night and I don't know how the weather acts we might have an illustrated sermon will just have to wait and see what happens.

But we know that the Lord controls the storms that we live on a path owned by a man I got on the hell like so the drain will be around Lord on the if you have your Bibles.

Let's open up to the 24th chapter of Luke were to be looking at this chapter basically my sermon text is going to be from from this chapter 24 out of the book of Luke, and will begin in verse 13 and this is post resurrection as you will see as we get into the Scriptures, but I'll just preface it by saying that it is three days from the time they crucified Jesus and most of you probably are familiar with the story but were to read it just in case you may have forgotten some of the details because there's a lot of little details in here and I know I forgot some of them so you probably have to say we would make sure we look at them closer to in verse 13, and behold them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about three score for long, okay, I'll interpret that 7 miles and they talk together of all these things which it happened and it came to pass that while they commune together and reason she Jesus himself drew near and went with them.

So now we went from a duet trio but their eyes were holding their were such that they could not know him. They didn't recognize him. Another words them matter of communications are these that you have one to another. As he walked and are that they they were sad. One of them whose name was Cleo answering said unto him, only a stranger in Jerusalem and has not know things which are come to pass there in these days anything on demand things based on the him concerning Gina, which was a prophet mighty deed and word before God and all the people the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death crucified him, but we trusted that it had been. He should've redeemed Israel, and beside all this. Today is Thursday.

Since these things were done will stop here for a moment, let's just look at what we have we have two Disciples of Christ ones name Cleo named those Bible scholars believe it was Luke, the very author of the book that were just going to say for arguments sake, to say the other person lose okay Luke and there on the road to Emmaus. They left Jerusalem. There, walking to Emmaus 7 miles away pretty good little wall because were lazy and we like to car.

Okay then. So that was just probably an ordinary walk for them. So here they are. They left to go to the house that was a pretty good length of time getting a good conversation. 7 miles how long it would take them at any time to talk and talked this Saturday.the more doubt and unbelief. Discouragement and forlorn they became the situation had become so dire that the Lord himself to minister to them that was on the line and they were about to drop off on the wrong side so the more they talk.

When you are discouraged in your walk will discard you just feed one another just get worse and worse. We always want to be around people that are of good courage for this current, but here they were one with the law denies him purpose and they didn't know who he was lost in their thoughts.

And there's bad news and it was so down there, probably looking down at their feet, shaking her head just talking and going around and around the same old story get better all the time. Now here comes Jesus and he said why are you so sad now that because they didn't know what was going on but he was trying to this situation when they are allowed to beat up on themselves. The beatable one another any portion of the devil was right there on the shoulder. What they didn't think they can think of. The devil did surround me, said why what you probably would say today. Are you a stranger here in Jerusalem from the last three day stranger and considering the fact that you know in the last three what's going on and we know what happened at Passover was to come to Jerusalem, so you know when you would be like what you would not mind that we need to go to his bed in New York City on 9/11 people there from all backgrounds and cultures on the Big Apple, New York and now you know new one was the same thing over and over again all day you from the jungles of Ecuador. You could not know what happened to people in the jungles of Ecuador that are still you know not connected to civilization, stranger, and you don't know what and Jesus just went right along with his little plan things now there's not looking at their feet. At least this what you mean, what things did not explain, he still did not reveal they still do not understand who we want, but he pressed them a little bit more what the problem was one in their own words what they were looking back, so that he minister to them because they were on the point of throwing away their faith. That's exactly where they were certain that there was about want to do that when Jesus was walking by when she is walking along side.

They proceeded some information from my D job would be like this in some people and be more people in delivered by you to look at again that last verse where I stopped. Verse 21 but we trust that it would should've redeemed Israel. Now the word in the Greek and you heard this word before you the message. Hope how many know the message about believing in what the word.

The word use the word because most of the time it translated where it is from the work, but here the LPs hope you all that okay you know what he said but some would redeem Israel with all that he was the one that he was the Redeemer that he was the Savior that it was like me one with you wonderful father and brings the world. John came on the scene what I like doing, but he will will and long. We we know they might've been the one way they were but whoever they were.

This job is Big Stone away that stowed away, but no part. They immediately rolled away the light of the world. But now he's dead and so is our hope that they said and now it's been three days and we thought that he would be the one to redeem Israel and the work redeemed there in the Greek means what you pay attention to this because actually they were talking the right thing just for believing the right thing.

The work redeemed little trellis means to release by payment of the price to build the Old Testament obligation of Redeemer price three bondage right with crashes mesh the Jews. They were talking right but they were believing they were speaking the very words, but they did know what they were saying let's read on now been three days and word verse 22 Jesus bothered interjecting set him straight. He does want to let him talk: see what all else are going to say that we can deal with it.

One time, shut the devil to get rid of all the life in certain women also want our company which will occur by seeing a vision of angels, which was believe it would be that much work went were with us went to the sepulcher and the women but him, they saw not harder. Sad story, you know trauma by Jesus. They put in where we are going to do. We thought he was the one from now the church we all will back to fishing and everything else it's over it's done: these women are, what they're saying. Did you know that a woman could not get testimony in a court of law get testimony of a woman with liable considerable would not allow it is not legal and she could testify that the New Testament is written by the Holy Ghost, because why the women were the ones that when installed angels and Jesus appeared on the woman in a court of law. Be smart. Don't let Jesus come to a woman first. Now when women get together how they are.

But Jesus appeared to the women first. The first evangelist that the resurrection was married well what they're saying is you want to read between the lines which you know I love to do what we believe these women not immediately reveal himself. Let's do want to see what happens. Verse 25 that we all. Now here we don't want to.

Jesus was in column you know real derogatory sense.

He was just like where's your senses wired you thinking okay sort of feeling when we say full all for the here is really what he was trying to say and slow heart to be all.I pray every day. I don't have this kind of heart every day, heart, heart, and I don't want to believe the prophets have spoken Christ to suffer these things and to enter into his glory and beginning all the profits he wants Scriptures the things concerning himself walking along 7 mile journey and Jesus is let them talk and talk and talk their spewing out all this all this unbelief. We departed their little crybabies in the hall time is let them go one. And finally we chides them like a rabbi would do as he was the rabbi foolish one and think about it for a moment know the Scriptures note to remind you, I guess I have to remind you that glory, glory be behind the pulpit glory beyond the long-range rate they overlook, but no rings, no glory. We were with him also shall reign with him and they overlook all the parts in the Bible is completely overlooked.

Psalm 22 and Isaiah 52 and 53 and all Psalm 69 the talk about the suffering to ask Dan so we went all the way back to the beginning of the books of Moses, and he began to give them a lesson and a Bible lesson over and over again and that the power line, but that's not the way did you deal with doubt and unbelief. You would believe her natural dreams and visions trumpet sound angels prophecy then the next time you're down and have a bigger vision and a bigger dreams Angel light for all.

Unbelief them in their unbelieving mind is glory Angel is risen from the dead is not anymore sitting down eating bread and fish. No, no, you didn't do that because he realized that if he had visible emotional experience.

Those things later on you will on the devil or your your own mind. No, you were really in a dramatic state of mind I meet for three days and three nights. He had left Harding had eaten anything you been crying you been down.

You're just so read your mind is playing tricks on you made you think that you all. Jesus remind us to protect itself, but he can't take anymore, people talk that psychobabble today and talk to me already told the other yeah right what happened when they told told him that resulting believe itself touching for myself that if he just an emotional experience that it wouldn't work. Not only understood that situation and all headed then, and for your situation and for my situation.that would mean everybody believe only remedy is to get in and expound the Scriptures. Amen. He preached and then the 7 mile sermon and he went back all the way to Moses and expound in the Scriptures, and as they drew near the village. They were 7 miles now was up in your get to the benediction. Amen.

Let's look at verse 28 and they drew neither the village with the day went. And this is important and he is know he would've gone further. He made like he was all right and I got bless you and keep going.

Verse 29. I love this, but constrained him saying bye with for it is toward evening and the day is far spent is very strong language.

Now I understand that it was the supreme Eastern hospitality always invited your guest was a given that we have just done that to be hospitable. That's not what's happening here that what happened in here just doing the good Tory hospitable thing, when no story or an night on the inside and tell me when you when you when you get in the press and you don't know what else to do. You need to get around people of the preached field you start you can do.

You need to get in charge for three weeks, they were even now, don't you think it might've been a good idea, charge where you could get to get your own testimony you cannot get around some expound you the Scriptures I mean you if you got your job and wear earplugs and listen to tapes on a bunch of devils and there does want to be job similar to what you do with all his energy and you amen.

I trust you are being inspired and uplifted by this illuminated message. Hold on to hope to disciples of Jesus on a 7 mile journey of doubt and despair were becoming more hopeless with every step until a stranger joined then why are you so sad he asked.

He listened to their woeful words about Jesus death three days earlier. He knew of course, but he wanted them to face their doubts had on name warned about their debt Messiah. We had hoped that it been him who should have redeemed Israel and now he's dead.

The stranger did not immediately reveal himself, but he spoke from the Old Testament Scriptures that clearly told of Messiah's sufferings and death and of his subsequent glory.

The remedy for all doubt, despair, discouragement and hopelessness is God's word before Jesus manifested himself to them. He wanted to prove by the Scriptures in Revelation the faith and the hope that was theirs from the word of God and this is our answer as well. If God were just to give us a physical sign or an audible word the devil could talk us out of it later, Jesus preached a 7 mile sermon. By the time they reached the town. They were filled with faith and they bade him to abide with them.

They wanted to hear more of God's word and as they ate supper together.

Their eyes were opened and Jesus was known to them.

They had so much hope they left and walked the 7 miles back to Jerusalem in the dark to tell the other disciples.

Jesus had appeared to them and they said that hearts burn within us. When he talked with us. By the way, if you were filled with doubt and at times even hopeless word of God minister to you will cause your heart burn with new hope and victory.
