Well that and much much more.

All coming up on the outlaw lawyer now outlaw lawyers Josh Whitaker and Joe Hamer managing partners, Whitaker and Hamer law firm practicing attorneys here in North Carolina offices conveniently located Raleigh Garner, Clayton Goldsborough, Fuquay Marina, Gastonia, and now in Morehead city on Morgan Patrick consumer advocate is always legalese. We discussed a lot of hot topics on the show.

If you are facing a legal situation yourself you got questions you can always contact Whitaker and him or by calling 800-659-1186. That's 800-659-1186 and leave your contact info.

Briefly, what the calls about an attorney with Whitaker and Hamer will be in touch and you can always email your questions to the program questions asked, the outlaw lawyer.com without further ado let's bring in Josh and showing guys so we got a lot to talk about today.

Yeah Morgan got up, got a couple things I want to get to today, some sports related items. You know Cassondra is usually with us and she is down in our Morehead city office today so she wasn't available to record with us in and tailors down in her Garner office today working you so she's not available to be with us. So it's just me and Joe, and when is just me and Joe sports law creates a Joseph your rates are Boston sports law today.

Hey man I really am at the it's easy to talk about for for me because you know Josh, I enjoy the sports and so when we don't have you know we've been spoiled having those very nice ladies on our show because I can kind of sit back and not have to really do a whole lot of speaking but was just me and you, man. That's you don't have that option. That's a lot of slotted Josh and and Joseph when they are when they're not with us, but I was good to mention I don't know if our listener solid, but the firm the law firm that means your managing partners over Whitaker and Hamer will offer made to Triangle business Journal just in a Joseph to see that man I saw that and it brought me great great pride and joy that the law firm, Whitaker and Hamer were for me. In general, are we.

We sold our old Clayton office and we moved to what I don't award you call it the Widener house. Historically, yeah man, I don't know what it was before was I'm sure it's been many things is been around for a really long time. I remember it as the wagoner just because that's what was when I was when I was coming up as a young boy in the town of Clayton.

Eventually it became the yellow house and now it's it's it's just our office. That's what it is so trying a business Journal's all that day. They they scour the public records for real estate transactions so they saw that we were we were moving as they did a nice write up. There was always happy to happy to see that man so hockey started. See, that's the other you could talk about sports law and we at we usually live times will talk about sports to get our juices flowing. As we did in the show but hockey starts that's exciting to just want to jump in, guys. It seems like hockey just end it now were back with it just seems that way. But then, but then you look at the actual amount of time that's passed since the season ended in its it was a while ago man but you're right, it does seem like it just we were just talking about it the other day but I think it's great man a lot of a lot of optimism around our local Carolina hurricanes and for good reason to tell you preseason hockey is like preseason football. It's really can't throw out a way to add it but they do show they did last year.

Obviously they made a great run but that offense of prowess man Italian. They have not missed a beat and they picked up some nice veterans think fan base. Very excited. Should be an interesting at least beginning to the seasonal sale goes get it with it with a stadium like others the way they call the stadium name of the game and Carter family this year Stadium series right now that makes sense and apparently seller is selling tickets like crazy yeah yeah I logged in login when they were they had season-ticket holder login thing and I logged in and it was crazy stuff was in your like cart for like eight seconds and then be gone. You nicely that they ran through lights.

I guess that's good.

And then I think it's just that he has man you talked about on the show I went to farming. I told you guys aren't young we knew you were going but how to go. I think I missed that one, but I did know you are going just because I personally cannot keep up with your schedule very closely but but you guys you cousin Aurobindo farming right I'm not correct I'm not no man and and I can go ahead and tell you bold prediction. I think I'm making it to one either your grave not having onto farming and I think if I do go to my grave not having gone to afar made like I don't think it's gonna be one of my great life regrets. I think I'll be able to stomach that one for me that is wonderful and seditious for baby was in Raleigh was great. You know, I think we talked about is like 11 of the 12 time on me.

My wife is Willie Nelson. He did really great but I had two things doesn't say yes I thought was really funny the first thing is they have local baby try to get local farmers look for local vendors in there to set up Cheryl day regular flight 12 hours if somebody or something, say have vendors over that normally wouldn't be there right and so they had a bunch of barbecue folks ranks a local North Carolina barbecue yes and MSAs were mob rights.

I got hungry at lunch I went out there was when I was getting at is I never heard of it before and all the local barbecue places were monitoring and so then there was one tent barbecue. There is one tent had writing is barbecue. I guess I'll just trot out and I went to do it and and I went about like they'll have about a barbecue sandwich and they were like right one barbecue sandwich country ham or pork chop house like it was confusing and I was already there anyone insulting by sight. Is that okay I'll get one of each. Right. It was like it was like a Texas barbecue type stand, but he didn't say that anywhere, and it was it was like country ham with barbecue sauce now on white bread dough and pork.

I grilled pork chop wood like barbecue sauce and it was it was hard man was eggs geared up for this homegrown barbecue and I figured out why they didn't have a lot with word spread word spread about that about that place where walking to the parking lot after it was over. Nurses guy walking to his car beside of us and he was he was intoxicated. Been there all day and he was clearly clearly intoxicated, usually element somebody hurting the elements of like his friend or somebody was telling him some and Jean anatomy was like and then they gave me a pork chop is like the same thing I was something they got a lot of people that day, but that's little I want what was it was a good was it any good because like that's to bait and switch.

Man, you're hanging out with Barb you saying you got barbecue and you get up there and you don't have barbecue, you have some facsimile thereof.

I get that.

But if you don't know it's barbecue like if you came to me and and you're not a barbecue stand.

Your like him to give you this sandwich with country ham with barbecue sauce on it that in a vacuum. Sounds decent man, but it sounds okay. You don't have that barbecue expectations or was it right. It was a terrible was a decent night was again. I hated it, but it was both fully split with my wife because I was getting it to barbecue Sam's one for each of us and I came back that she was very just. She probably thought you made up the whole thing, but the other thing about formate is Willie.

Willie Nelson's 89 he comes out what he's got his two boys there and not a play with them and asked is really good.

You know he becomes in and out is 89 right you is like an 8/9 years old man that's incising to get up and David Lee Roth it up and down the stage and now he's he's up there but they come out again.

I'm assuming you guys are never seen him, but if you never seen him. He comes out. What is his two sons may sit there with him and he's got like a harmonica guy is been with him forever is got two drummers one is like plan bongos and other percussion ones has like one drum I don't know why they set up that way but two drummers and he's got a bass player and then then hit his God never seen forms really old guy off on the side just a really old guy got one handheld bongo drum and he said he was like, apart from the band like he was he was at. I just watched him that I'd never seen before annuities inundated and he just said over there and he played the one bongo.

He held it you know in one arm and played it with one hand I quit watching them like three or four songs in a may play this song and they they all turn around look at this is God. He pulls up right all this is very exciting for me. I don't know if I'm there.

So this guy pulls out his flute because the townhomes fully right manages gluten about as related he's doing a job within a pulls out another flute and he is double flute where he pulled them out from his double flute. It was amazing. I thought of another flute now going to town.

You've not told us that story.

It's a double flute inside his mouth and we get one hand on each flute they went back to his bongo. There is one song that involved the double flute but it was very good for me was very good and I had a chance to respect and I respect you, being a guy that like grown-up you like to learn to play an instrument and you you learn to play the bongos and then randomly like him also to learn to play the flute like it just seems like too random instrument choices, but good for him. Man is there was another guy I really like things Charlie Crockett if you hadn't checked them out.

Take them out. Please, throwback to light, in order, style of country.

But he was there he set out is got a guy plays like the piano and organ and his band right within like every dishonest guy without a trumpet with one hand will be playing his piano part and he's got his trumpet and he was his plan but it's I have no musical talents. I'm always amazed when these guys get up there to be honest make you you sold me more on formate than I was sold before now. So there's like it before.

There was a 0% chance that I ever attended farming itself to at least 23% for me to put in sports terms them into play the piano with one hand and play the trumpet with the other at the same time I would equate that to switchhitting in baseball be able to go right or left in the majors mean, that's a big big deal and counteract try to wrap your mind around that kind of musical skill mean it isn't, awe-inspiring really.

I can even rub my stomach and pat my head no earthly way I could. I've always I've always really enjoyed our live music in different kinds of music, and yet no no musical ability whatsoever. So it's tough pill to swallow, but it we do have legal stuff to let people every every week we do have legal topics and we will talk about them this week about couple things again will get some sports laws… It would be real interesting to talk about Matt rule is out as the Carolina Panthers coach and can talk about his contract and can't talk about some other things that have to do with coaches contracts in the NFL and things like that sorting out where he spent some time on that and then there's been a lot of stories. Joe, you brought this up. There's been a lot of stories about the concussion protocol, FL and teams, possibly violating the concussion protocols off. We talked about that and some liability that that may be out there if you violate that and then lastly we the Supreme Court back in session right so the US Supreme Court is back in session.

Their hearing oral arguments on on cases and they had one this week about California prop 12 sets the state initiative that is going to attempt to affect the way pork is produced in the whole country and support producers and some other folks don't like that and so they are battling Matt out in the US Supreme Court in the oral arguments were fascinating so that that is tried-and-true real deal legal topics right. Exciting stuff. You can always always always email your questions to the show will answer them on a future program questions@theoutfallonyour.com Josh take away our Joseph so that moon office would be a pretty sweet on what you have a pretty we work on that and get new business that I write this with clients. I don't think I legal remote into the show, the type Carolina Panthers has been pretty Joseph even Watson. It's been bad man are you. Can we call you a Panthers fan Josh on that. I know your new year. Your your lovely wife is from Buffalo so I know you you have allegiance to the bills but I'm it's a man. This thinking to clarify that when I was growing it wouldn't have the Panthers I was raised Redskin so you Redskins. I'm not a Redskins fan is not a command.

I'm sorry commanders the commander and is not a commander's passing. I think the show just got fine for saying the wrong word. Sorry he I grew up I was and how he longed growing up I was on the defensive line. I was a how he longed good call you when did you wear 75 yeah yeah I was. It was a Tim Allen guy you take my bolos big Bo Jackson. I was a Raiders guy is a kid just like some kids pick the cowboys and kids pick the 49ers and Johnny just picked right three-member team. You were legally well. I will allow that for you that we entertain a certain age.

I was we got the Panthers I was all in man back to go with the walls all man I was all in on those teams. See Berlin University Berlin yet. Do you play it off with Steve Berlin yet steeper line, a former counsel. See Berlin has my favorite sports coat of all time.

Again, this is nothing to do over timeout.

But see Berlin is my favorite court of all time. It was that we had a playoff game was a Green Bay and he he rushed for 3 yards and got us like one of her last touchdowns and I think we won again. If I remember correctly, but after the game. They were talking to them and I can't room with the question was that prompted this response place and look it on the quarterback of his team if you need 3 yards by many. It's a 3 yards if you need 5 yards. I meant to get you 3 yards how that was my favorite painter Stan will love the Panthers is has been has been hard to watch but I do also refer the bills which is nice segue but I still got all night, and it is not always been a good thing. It's a nice fall back for you Josh. Right now it's a good fallback. Yeah it is it is but it's it's I try to man. I do try to watch the last name. I just could man all and all the 49ers fans that were there and obviously the Panthers folks were cylinder tickets for you to sorry lot content I can come in as someone who's a who's a little younger than you, Josh and not play football growing up Doug from the literally the youngest age possible but was never a big NFL fan until like I got into like late middle school early high school and that was right right when the Panthers started that that really strong run where they ended up going to the Super Bowl. Tragically, losing to Tom Brady and the patriots, but that was right around the time that my NFL fan really started.

So I've always been just Panthers like no secondary allegiance.

Strictly the Panthers and had some really good times man had some really bad times and lately she's been depressed in man. I guess the best way I can describe it like the games they're not even entertaining. There's no element of the it's just sad. It just it just makes you sad and it makes me sad that I can even allow a sport to affect me in that way that like you now. I'll try to sit there and be like, think about it in as this is not important right like I shouldn't let this bother me at all, but in reality that's those are just works and it's definitely it's feelings that bother me but it suspended real spirit real sad run man. It has an end for a while now you know I got nothing unless I really got excited was that game. Cam Newton came back and it was like the one game they did they win the game or they lose that claim, yet they want me there. When I played well, they won that game and it was like off a cliff just completely just yet. We get the new owner you know that was that was exciting and and he's not been the greatest.

At least you know if you just look at what's reporting the news and in the course. Matt what you look is if you look at the record of the team.

I mean, that's what.

If you want to be completely objective about it that's what you look at and yet not the definitely not the greatest but Matt Matt rule he got himself a good contracting of these coaching contracts and they're there for a lot of money and people like to title like to look at them, but if you ever read one or number exciting ride. These contracts are actually pretty simple contracts when you when you break a manner for a lot of money, but you know you think a contract for $40 million or whatever 60 million or whatever 62 62 million. Back in 2020 for seven years and contrite is not. I can't room how many pages it is, but you think it would be like 800 pages right for something like that is not it's a very short contract and it had a lot of guaranteed money and in I think in retrospect, he hasn't worked out. People look at it as a bad deal.

But when he was come out of college.

He was a hot is a hot commodity and Denny's coaches. They had to get ahead, just like a player you know they got a cash and when they can cash in and he did and he still owed quite a bit of money right aside some guaranteed money works or it didn't work out. He was terminated for, you know, he was terminated and he still owed how much $40 million $40 million and so that million dollars that has to be paid. I think the hope is that he'll you know he's gonna be a hot commodity.

As he goes back to the college rings because he was very successful college coach setting. The hope is he gets paid a couple million a year and I don't eat away into the to the monies owed by the Panthers but still is very expensive mistake for what Mr. Tepper there yeah and he's got money, man. He's he's like extraordinarily rich. He's got money, but at the same time $834,000 a month is is what that's what rule is what is owed currently and like you said if he if he does get hired and presumably he will get higher like you said, even though I mean it's his his run in the NFL with the Panthers has been pretty abysmal and it just has kinda looked at just man, it's been bad not a window guys do we know what happens if he gets hired safety goes back to college.

Does he still get know he gets a dollar for dollar credit against that buyout, but he still dares you to be money over and above what he's owed that he still pays get every bit of that 40 million amazing 400 and 834,000 a month for the next 48 months is the buyout to be a good feeling. You know that's gotta be good you can completely blow it at your job and again there are several factors that go into that. We can't just put that all on his shoulders, but you know it's kind of that, the buck stops somewhere and if it's the head coach is a great place to stop that book right hand you can you can do so poorly that you you get terminated and you're still getting that 40 million like I can only imagine that's a that's a pretty good comfortable feeling for him yet here these guys the guys that that do this young coach like this. This is a you know a full-time job and then some. You know NFL coach.

I'm sure you're working 50, 60, 70 hours a week, you know, it's like being a CEO of a Fortune 500 company right your your working nonstop to not put your 40 hours and and and and head home and playing with the kids you're working all the time and that's what you compensated like this but yet disclosure we are doing NAC like all the players like he had his locker room.

It seemed like all the players like to amend any skin they can put it together but guys like this. You know he's in a I think you'll be employed. Maybe this year, you know, deftly by next year. I think you'll be employed. We somewhere else. Working all the time like it's hard you know of psych and Russ talking to, but they were like what you know you can just stick it easy for a couple years right you know he's can tell for sure it makes perfect sense. Why would take it easy for lighting on the guys look at it.

I don't think these type of coaches look at it that way to get back into it, but Yemen time but negotiating a good deal you know everything you know everything we want things we do here at our lawyers, look at how the law plays and everything and you know negotiation is a big part of law school, I took a class which is negotiation strategies and a course for clients lot times were working to settle civil matters in a personal injury working with insurance companies so a lot of the law is just understanding your leverage. Understanding your position and then there's there's these negotiation strategies another for centuries that that people would use when he knew what he was worth coming out of college and he was a hot property in the he struck the best deal he could he could strike and it is hard to be mad at him now. He came in any IMing arguably did the best he could. He wasn't you know not working and now use the benefit of his mortgage you know and that's just how it works. I'm guessing David Tepper was in, and that negotiations class with you as a thief. If you if he would've been a member who taught that exit okay the Norman Adrian Wiggins school Law, University fine institution can know it. Whereas you can look at it from the rule side of things and be like man fantastic deal. Your 62 million guaranteed as it coach with no NFL experience come straight out of college sure fantastic for him, but then you look on the other side of the coin, and especially now in it and it you can scratch your head why I think that I just go Jim Daly from the Panthers that gals can jump in and say you guys kinda mentioned that you know he was a hot property and there were other people very interested so his agent sits down and he's got the bargaining chips in front of him. He knows that he's got other interests, and so he can Hamer out that contract pretty much the way he wants it. If said team in front of him is that eager to sign them so you know it's on the Panthers and the congratulate back rules agent mean that guy really earned his money and now Matt rules can get paid, but the other part of this too is in you guys know this. It's all about team you have in your coaching staff are you delegating authority Aminah head coaching position is a hood ornament mean there are some coaches that came you know call plays defensively are often civilly and can oversee things, but for the most part you need to OCs that know their stuff and and then let them fill out their staffs and you look like an absolute genius but if you can't delegate is going come back and hit you hard and it happened here, and in it but but but again very you know you it's hard to say.

Misfortune what you want to take joy in rat rules misfortune.

But this isn't really misfortune the guys getting paid $40 million. Whether he does anything else again or not, but maybe really sad math like I'm entitled to some of that money is a fan. Maybe all of us. We could split some of it while the hardship in a season to work is saying they say in the NFL that you're just your your one or two players away from these guys are all very very talented. Only everything Italian roster. That's not the problem yeah, so they're not that far away, but it just feels like they are yeah get a edible prediction. I think they get too tough weeks but I think they pull out when these next two games.

I think the team rallies around like Steve will access the interim head coach and he sang a lot of the right things.

He was around her and the good times for the Panthers and and when that culture was established and you know when a lot of games and he saying a lot of right thinks he's honestly manifested as the other thing about Matt rule. If you paid attention. I never really thought he did a fantastic job handling the media.

A lot of times he can especially towards interest, seemed confounded but but but will it seems like the type of guy who, if nothing else, he's gonna be able to get the team rallied for at least a short period of time. You usually see that bounce back. After firing a lot of times is that next game when there's a lot of like the teams inspired and it cocktails off so I don't know man I do UDS do you want to succeed, to some degree, or you want to just tank for the future.

That's that that's the real always succeed man all yeah I think you agree with that.

I tend to agree with what you know, one of one of one of the folks say that people are speculating will be an employee is it Sean Payton's the right of the New Orleans saints coach to win the Super Bowl once and was really competitive. He's one of the names in dimension with the job at back to our legal contractual discussion.

He still has contractual obligations to to the saints. Yeah that's going to be your anybody goes after hymns and have to compensate New Orleans and that's that's up to the team that goes after him and he's pretty much got his pair coming. He's probably know for other teams out there looking for a guy that gonna run the show and bring his staff and probably experience God of the things Tepper said yes experience just to Super Bowl. I mean yeah I mean they they want somebody that's been there done that had success in he's deftly got down on his resume. So his contract and his agent and my blood fund while I did this in order coming to prison break Morgan but all I dissent.

If you ever get really really bored read NFL coaching contracts very is like man was in a very exciting stuff. Okay, what, when we come back really go concussions that were going to talk about things are okay were to stay with the National Football League and again the headlines just you know protecting the quarterback to a down in Miami obviously dealing with some serious issues. The players Association is very upset at the league and vice of her.

I mean it's just it's just nasty and will talk about that coming up next on the yellow light is just Whitaker and Joe Hamer on your house.

If you got a situation you're facing legally and you got questions you can always contact Whitaker namer 800-659-1186 at 800-659-1186 leave your contact information and briefly what calls about an attorney with Whitaker namer will be in touch and you can always email your questions to the show will answer them on a future broadcast and will will use different names to protect the innocent right, but will answer those questions were questions at the outlier dot-coms we can send those again questions@theoutlier.com are sticking to the NFL Josh and it certainly it's a big big topic out protecting the quarterback concussions and I guess we'll start with two yeah I saw this happen you know when the war that was my is Miami and the bills right is Miamiville's game.

He had back to back so yeah I yeah so he was to situations you know he had the he had the initial injury that looked alarming. If you you know on first glance it looked alarming.

They they went through the standard concussion protocol. He ultimately was cleared came back in the game finished it out and then the very next week takes it takes another hit and just goes down bad man real bad yeah I saw that I saw that I saw the replays as it was his deftly nasty and in deftly got his is clock cleaned and and so you know in a field that is concussion protocol is put in place work with the players union on answers is official and I haven't read it, couldn't find it. When I look for it, but it is a concussion protocol. So if someone takes a hit a certain, hit certain things happen is supposed to trigger this protocol were you know that yet looked at and you know it. Dave is been around for a while. It is kind of a confusing enigma to the average man because we we don't know what their unit were not professionals. We don't know what they're looking for but there is at least an argument that maybe it wasn't followed, as it should've been with. At first I guess right is that the argument will know they say that the I think initially there was concern right because you see like again if you're watching and were just Lehman's were not when it were attorneys but were not doctors. Hannah anybody watch and even if you're not medically trained like you could see he takes the hit. He stumbles there signs Latino classic signs that he may have a head injury so that's that anybody can see that right and then they they take them out.

They they do whatever the testing that they generally would do.

He's clear to goes back in. Of course the next week occurs and everybody. Everybody looks back at that everybody looks back at the previous week and the like. How is it possible that he got back in the game like this you know these the with the with these traumatic brain injuries. There needs to be a certain amount of rest prior to reentering competition because they they can be exacerbated if you don't take the time to recover.

We still don't know a ton about you. What we know more than we knew before, but we still don't know everything about these head injuries and how how they're gonna play out how how you're going to be affected later in life. So a lot of a lot of moving pieces to this but they actually there was an investigation and will not mistaken.

That investigation determined that they actually follow the protocol correctly. There was no issue there, but they've since come out and and modify the protocol and they've added in ataxia, which is basically like a loss of coordination they've added that's one of the no go symptoms were if that's exhibited, then it's basically that that is the question in its you're not going back into again and that would happen.

This fact was that this past week when Garner's very own Naim Hines got music about it and was having trouble walking. Yeah the end that's what that's to be effective this you know you thought you seen it you seen it. It's kind of trickled down the effect and so 11 affected skin to be there not to be taken chances right so if there is even a remote question, you're probably gonna see a players. Players held out and come back to the legal side of this. It's it's for it's really for liability purposes right because you got these established protocols and you not necessarily looking at any kind of laws that are being broken, but you you're looking at established protocols for which there can be either civil liability in the event that those are followed. So here to see people being extra cautious not just for the legal ramifications but also for the just up the public perception I think you're going to see a whole lot less leniency because football players are tough by nature. I'd like they've done this, their whole lives. They want to compete and you know they're gonna try to get back in the game at all cost it, if at all possible, so it used to be someone takes a bad hit they get up.

You just ask hey you good to go back and they want to plan but I think you're gonna see it there just knocking to take chances and beyond that. You've also seen recently. If you pay attention you look at like rough in the quarterback penalties you look at like targeting calls. All of these. All of these changes are, trickling down to make the game a little less violent. A little more safe and and I think you're just gonna see that affect kind of amplified an increase over time and the games really gonna for better or for worse. Some people would say, for worse, because that's what they watch it for us what they enjoy, but you dealing with people's long-term health. At the same time was in this way.

It has nothing to do with concussion protocol of this week as I was watching the bugs was a Bucks Falcons on the falcon site Brady and it looked perfectly legitimate and through to a couple of those. There's a couple of real head scratching calls where you trying to prevent players to try to prevent like defensive lineman from landing on top quarterbacks after a sack, but if it like by the very nature of of tackling somebody like how you it's it's it's one of those things that just kind of it's complicated that the game of the process and understanding how to play it for for everybody but at the same time the health and safety of of players is great concern well and it's the health and safety of the number one position in football and that's quarterback and there are very few men, you know that can play that position so they have put these rules in place to try and protect them. The other one that you guys are referring to is Raiders Chiefs when car look like it was that he was a lose the ball.

Think Chris Jones hit them straight of the straw yes strip the ball and came down on him and they got the ball back.

Even though the Chiefs recovered at the Raiders got the ball back because they called that that penalty that it was excessive roughing on the quarterback when he didn't have a football yet both of those penalties both that that penalty referring to an end at the Tom Brady penalty both massively game changing penalty calls and unit the conspiracy theorist and you could could look at those and look to some strange agenda, but I think in reality it's just it's all a byproduct of the concern for player safety and how difficult you know that the rules have become the kind of enforce, especially in real time when you're dealing with some of the fastest, most athletic human beings on the planet like making those split-second decisions I keep.

I love the complaint about referees and moan about it but you really have to understand how difficult that's gotta be the man I I refereed 89-year-old, I referred a nine-year-old basketball.

He is a basketball league where you help coaching in you.

You had to take her turning and be a referee madness man. I will refereeing the same game like your game are united in turn studied Kobe on getting a living out of technicals to the other teams left and right man to eat your another need.

You draft another game or two other teams were playing and everybody just kinda helped out to run the league and save calls but man I tell you what man, eight, nine-year-old basketball was was a rough once a referee when things I think that beast me a little bit easier but I don't always feel so bad for the raft is a real shortage right now right in the high school and middle school rings. It's hard to get rest because they take so much abuse from fans and and things like that. Anyway that's that's neither here nor there. That's just that's a hard date so I made technical files. Did you give out in your 89-year-old ragging on their technical files, but the game I was I was roughing it was 89 your best bargains are usually quite close.

What like 1612 you know you you send any parents or other coaches to the car and say cool I want I could have ref one game where I was in the lead raptors two of us. I was only draft we did not – some I delete you as it was just before just recently confessed to her kids sports man.

We had what we did is that this was a close game and and salutes my head like last possession if they score they would win. If not, it would get the little two minute overtime or whatever they have, but we had somebody stepped over the line and bounding the ball before we had we had whistled to be in place yet so we reset them and give them a chance to and bound it enough parents lost their minds should have been a turnover. I remember thinking that was years ago that was probably eight years ago now, but stuff the demand NFL or or or radically that rest spots a tough one to be in will get back to the two industry nodes specifically discuss and to what you note, the fact that they did this investigation. They basically determine that they did follow the protocol he did stumble, but I think he himself actually said that he reactivated a back injury, and that's the reason why stumble and if you go when you look at it like again, I think on first glance it looks like clearly like he had some head trauma. That's the reason why but but again you're talking a lot of the diagnosis that you have to do comes from communicating with the individual that's been injured and you gotta rely on the information you get from that individual. So it's a tough thing to do for doctors as well.

Ball players Association and the league of agreed to amend the protocol so it is going to change if not already changed so they're looking at that right now. It's a very serious situation. Obviously you're dealing with the Dean of the future of this particular football player but football players that follow him. So they they really need to get this dialed in, but also you have to remember to and you guys are mention it. It's a gladiator sport. There are large men running at high speeds. You're gonna have concussions so you can only protect him so much but they're gonna try to take a look at the protocol and changed up a little bit yeah basically the changes. To summarize, you know we we mentioned it's it's ataxia, which is kind of like a loss of of motor function are stumbling or loss of balance and in the previous protocol basically stated that you if if you had that, but they could determine that there was some kind of orthopedic reason. So like something structural some kind of other injury that they let you come back in and now the paper move that exceptions where if you stumble. If you have any kind of difficulty moving.

That's it. They're not gonna take chances and again, back to the circling back around to the legal piece of this note, they are there to protect themselves from from future liability any way that they can and then also there to try to protect that the player safety and so Juergen I think you just to see the heightening of these requirements. Over time, it just especially as we learn more about these traumatic brain injuries and we get more information I think you just gonna see those effects just amplified again.

We talked about all these cases a lot but it was very active Supreme Court session. The very controversy old US Supreme Court session, but all seasons overcome like hockey right I never noticed that.

Is this big for you man like me and Morgan look at the start of like the NFL, NBA seasons and we get super geek out and you're looking at the Supreme Court's back and told my card. I did you red white and blue and callouts. I didn't realize how all seasons mirror each other so closely never noticed that before, but with airbag they been back having the session started last week but what they do is they just have all these things lined up we are. You know what cases there to hear oral arguments get scheduled schedules been released already conferenced with her being watched.

Very this is not I can. I can't member.

The last time white national media you everybody's coming dialed in to see what the court will do not. It is a conservative majority, and again we are me try to stay apolitical. So we are conservative or not it would just try to talk about allotment being discussed but it's hard not to know that there's a conservative majority in that certain things are being overturned and and the court is looking at things in a different way than it has in the past is the liberal majority sense 60. I don't know. I don't know how far back it goes. But the court is generally as a liberal majority in Meister was the first year that was not the case and so things are operating over differently, but there is a case the most the most interesting thing I have seen so far, as there's a case I didn't know much about this case until was kind listening into the oral arguments, but I California had propped propped 12 dance movement was voted on your California by itself one of a safety to California United States to make it its own country is the sixth largest economy in the world something like that yes leg man, but you know they they have progressive writers statehouse their state legislators. Legislatures very progressive and they make a lot of like what they just said everything is going to be an electric car by like 2035 and did they make. They make these these laws and the rest of the country, has to you know, if you make cars and you want to sell cars in the US in the California market is, is arguably one of your most important markets and you cannot have to meet that you we represent a lot of folks who sell things sell services or sell goods, Countrywide's, even though I practice in North Carolina, North Carolina attorney. I'm even aware of some things that the state of California passed us because it affects people, companies in North Carolina who are selling things Countrywide so something we seen a lot of men and so California has adopted or propped 12, which is basically I will go into the details, but it changes how they would they want to sell pork in their state court products in their state where the pigs the hogs that have been raised in a certain, arguably more humane way right so the pork industry has standards right now and how big a cage as to be for breeding pay and California will start to be big or larger. They want to change the standards and so they know that their economies large and there in this position where if we passed that a lot of pork producers have to do it even knows that a federal law you know every other state might disagree with us, say passes propped 12 where you can only sell pork instead California has raised a certain way.

Answer pork producers. Other interested parties are challenging that saying they that California's estate should not be able to affect, interstate commerce right that the feds can for sure, but can can estate no matter how big past something that's going to affect the via the economy of other states and so that was it was actually very it was it was very interesting. There were some of the laws they kinda put up there seem like the justices were kind of leaning towards California can't do this.

There's another we talk about test right we got different test for different things when judges have a certified pattern after class certain test is almost like mathematics, Joseph right you want to figure out the circumference of of a circle and you got an equation so we have these lawyers and judges have these test, but if you were going camping in New York. Camping in New York ever know. But I've eaten a lot of pork if you can't talk about is things are that makes Brandon a moment. Yeah I don't know a thing about this law, but I knew something about eating pork pink.

This is if you camping in New York. You're not allowed to bring in firewood from outside the state because they don't want to bring in in any past or enough it's been treated with certain chemicals that are illegal New York so that's a big deal though ask you where your firewood came from firewood's more expensive in New York as they know that you can bring it from out-of-state and so the the California folks were comparing their law to laws like that. There's all kinds of laws like I'm not allowed or not allowed to sell real fireworks in North Carolina right and that affects commerce right that affects people are trying so fireworks they can't sell that to make special crappy fireworks from North Carolina is always laws that affect commerce and try to compare this morning and we talk about sometimes we talk about how laws are burdensome and less less restrictive means less restrictive means and so the justices were saying.

Well, they could just label pork does not raise the way they won't see women California consumers will have a choice in the justices really and this is that this is a case that doesn't divide the liberal wing of the court, the conservative wing of the court is to something it doesn't divide them that way kind of bods amid a different way so is interesting to see Justice Kagan and Justice Robertson's and just despair, asking the same questions, seems like there on the court was leaning against striking this down like this would be enforceable but yeah I enjoy court man is as I told you at my formate when I didn't get a pork chop, but was the fourth house half day.
