You know, because of coded we've all been doing kind of a remote recording the past. I don't know how many weeks lots of weeks and today we're all as far as we know covert free and were all in the studio at the same time. Joe was good to see you hey Josh is good to see you and your actual face usually were not were not face-to-face anymore so this is a pleasantness is like doing doing radio doing podcasting in the 50s that were like face-to-face or not at her all the little remote stations is the way it should be put up with better close on because I knew I'd see people you shower Asher hardhat did.took to just to be safe that this is something I don't usually do output a dress shirt on and I wore a sweater over yeah like that's pretty fancy. The more the merrier for close on your body this week we got another voice which I'm sure everybody will be happy. We have a special guest in studio with us.

Thank you for having me longtime listener. The first time, really nice to meet you Morgan absolutely can answer a quick question. What's it like working with these two.

It's amazing Morgan you may not realize this but she genuinely may be our biggest fan bad on the planet Earth every episode right it's true. Every episode she's listened to was on her own free will and volition like to tell you we we produce a lot of podcasts around the country and we do around this building and I am the envy of all of our house because we are not talking fine and we're talking legal like it you next week to focus on finance now were completely shifting are going on vacation to ask before you get into the meat of everything you know where were in the middle of January. I think we can say no one in here has has coded my New Year's resolution was not to get coven and so far so good I think. But I want to hear everybody's resolutions to get us going Morgan you have a resolution this year. You know I do you live every day. I know this is going to sound like a Hallmark card bent to live every day enjoy every day were not promised tomorrow so I do have resolutions when it comes to diet weight that kind of thing I do it every single year but yes been more time with family quality time with the devices down Terry Noble's very noble Jeff, I'm going to spend more time on my device is really no man you know I like the literary taste good. Having the owner still that one obviously be less fat.

It's always one of my running goals. Physical fitness usually start out start out pretty strong tails off dramatically as the year goes on, but not in time of the family. That's it. That's a good one and that's when I'm going to aspire to. Cassandra will Morgan Artie said less screen time but that's definitely one of mine. This my career at Whitaker, and Hamer has been very mind expanding this year. So when I get home from work I knelt into Russia and don't move until it's time to move.

So China like replace that with like reading a book or something. That something really. I used to be one of my tubes I used to read all the time and I used to read and I don't blame the kids for this, but now the kids I see when I get home. I just never read the more I read the news on my phone and I'll read things here and there but I can't marry last time I got like five books on my nightstand and I been reading this autobiography autobiography. This biography of Teddy Roosevelt I been reading it for as an embarrassing piercingly long amount of time. I haven't gone through with it. So I want to read more didn't really want to be that got it smokes pipes really like a big pipe. Okay I think that's you know I'm getting older.

I feel like that something as you get grayer you should have just a big pipe and only caterer in my pocket. I pulled out a lot like something I definitely needed in the firm's headshot to say yeah it's your thing, you have it all the time hundred percent of the time you not seen without used to be when I was growing up, there's always that one guy parents knew a church or whatever that had the pikemen and maybe it's not cool it's cool I think it's cool. It may not be but once you start doing it. It will be okay cool again but I will say this, the aroma of pipe tobacco silent, it's a solid thing I think you should learn to blow smoke rings make that your thing to get to things that were hired or just nibble on it and having you around on smoking. Just as we can smell only special occasions, yet when you spark that thing up that something is going to hell when I'm in deep yes well when you swing into some different today when I talk to people about the show folks he was in the show. I've had a lot of people ask me hey, how come you guys don't really dive in any kind like true crime stories as very popular genre of of podcast and we just haven't really done it until today we come in saving this one and that's one of the reasons Cassandra's here today because she is she is been following the story of South Carolina. I guess former attorney now.

Alec Murdoch and so this story is unbelievable when you sit down and look at how it's unfolded over the past years.

Sounds like there still layers were to be figuring out later, but this is one heck of a tail absolutely so I've been like this one really like his grip to me, but I've been following it for months.

It came into like kind of national attention this past summer, Alec Murdoch. He's an attorney in South Carolina, or was it an attorney in Carolina's family. They've been prosecutors which are called solicitors in South Carolina so that it surprised me and it's pretty cool name.

Very fancy. So for generations. They've got a lot of family well. Big big names in the area, so this made local news there really quickly when his wife and son were murdered on their property this past June. A lot of people get murdered there in the saga and awareness for some time. I was confused about I been hearing all the stories in this vessel that followed closely and so I sat down earlier this week, go through the timeline I was shocked at how much stuff was going on and how many different people were involved really does have all the makings of a of a movie which prize whites are riveting to the folks yeah I'm sure there will be several movies that come from this. There's already an oxygen special is Alyssa Milano. In it, or Baxter. Bernie is, you guessed you too young for family ties was it was family ties mom's name Baxter Bernie Meredith Baxter burning her name she do a lot of oxygen special.

She did, she did it do a lot of homework in the do do we put those on the same level Hallmark movies and oxygen specials. I think there I think that's yeah the fact that Melissa Malan was the first name that came out of your mouth. That says a lot about where and then you went Baxter Bernie for four I'm at in my mind this is like a sea level. Maybe that's the first thing that comes up okay right service for some time talking about that. I also wanted to spend some time talking about the Supreme Court heard oral arguments about his mandate you want to call it, but the current mandate that if your private employer with more than 100 employees.

You gotta get your employers Baxter you get signed and there's yes that's been installed in the two emergency cases got it to the Supreme Court, so there were some pretty entertaining oral argument. Someone spent time talking about that if we have time after that we really gotta get back to her movie turning our legal movie tournament get that great test to be our run thing every week for getting back to that movie turn they will just never do it but I believe today could be the day you know I was in a legal movie but you know what I saw.

Over the holidays. I don't have the answer that question. You only get give me a hint and on the west side of okay that was give me a hand man settle is a legal movie everything to be legal. Yeah, I mean I guess if we look at a cloud like the Spider-Man was a joy that I thought it was gonna be better than it was. I built it up in my in my head.

To be really good.

Can't do that and that but it was still entertaining. The latest one Clay's everybody I've talked to. I haven't seen it yet. Everybody saying it's like it's it like the best one.

It's really good. Cassandra Nicholas I Morgan Patrick consumer advocate Josh take away so tell the story of Alec Murdoch or lease what we lease what we know so far, I've got confused here because I made a note on the pronunciation of Alec's name and I wrote murdered dork by me as I was looking this is a real is a responsible face the sky and in fact he had a bond hearing this week and he appeared with a black eye and bloodied knuckles and nobody said a thing about it so I just need to know more.

Josh, you have a nose for principal faces because it does sound like. In fact, he has been punched in the face. I don't know how you could be in God forbid you and I haven't been incarcerated and I hope I never but if I was incarcerated and in my new cellmate was as Alec guy, I feel like we would get along personally. Look at Adam, just by the very sociable find some common ground with him and him and now they were here. More on this topic. What did you do to get into a room with this attorney.

Oh yeah I don't know something actually was an accident was an accident but it was a grossly negligent accident to the point where they are light were locked in a hard time for this act is to get on track.

I think I think it's important before we talk about Alec Murdoch to talk about Richard Alexander Murdoch senior that's assessing gentlemen, this is not is along this is a whole family of prominent individuals that has a lineage of being prominent in and at a attorneys and in wealthy and status and having a place into the story does not absolutely so the prominence of the family in the area I think plays into a lot of areas of this story because all of this came out just this past summer, but the incidents surrounding this family go back years and I think those would've come to light. Much sooner if it were not for the prominence of this family in the area so they were able to kinda push them things under the rod yet. It's weird how when you have these prominent families. It seems like generationally and in this may be an outlier here, but the faces become more punch up with every succeeding generation, but yes, a very prominent family I see in the nursery at high society will real property boats had a pretty good life to me man is all sounds pretty pretty cool yet so it's listed.

This was established to our immediate family members are is always always folks are going to come into play later Sir Richard Alexander Murdoch senior is Alec and he was a practicing attorney at a law firm when all this started to go down in South Carolina yes and it's a family law firm as well so it's it's other relatives in this off I went him right so we got to how many he has two sons okay so how to's had two sons will in one still alive. One is spice up all as the sun that is still alive.

There's a Richard Alexander Murdoch Junior known as Buster so it's actually Buster that's still alive. I so that's that's kind of the family and so where was the first how does this first come the light. Cassandra was the first thing that happens here so it first came to light this past summer in June when his wife Maggie and younger son Paul were murdered at their 1700 acre complex.

It was even their main house. This was there like hunting lodge. Sure, you know, and we all have you. You don't have hunting so Alec went home and found them there and so I've listen to many episodes of many past but one local reporter there Mandy Matney with Fitz news.

She has a podcast called the Murdoch murderers so a lot of this is really just confirm. Thank you Mandy, but her podcast goes into great depth and plays the full 911 calls for all incidents related to the Murdoch family, including the one where Alec calls regarding his wife and son.

This past June and it was really convincing to me.

I do not know. No one knows who murdered his wife Maggie and his son Paul, but I don't think it was him.

Yeah it was it in. And if I'm not mistaken I listened, I agree. I listen to the deny 11 call and it did sound convincing. He sounds panicked, you know, there were some strange nuances to it where they were united to the if I'm not mistaken the dispatcher was telling him not to touch the bodies for for evidentiary purposes and he was basically like. I've Artie touch the bodies you know which is reasonable and not unreasonable, but it sounded like that. Their conclusion was that there were multiple shooters that were involved here, because he had one person shot with I think it was an automatic weapon, and the other one.

It was a shotgun.

So yeah, it sounds that's a lot of the steps you're going through it if if he was the person committing committing these crimes so this is the that's the event I have brought it to the national stage and so during this investigation of this of this double murder of of his wife Maggie and his son son Paul. Paul on the west confuse me so bad. So a lot of other stuff start starts starts coming out and yes, revealed that his family probably has some enemies but yeah for the large part still, you know, almost 6, eight months later, it doesn't sound like really closer to knowing who killed his two individuals exactly there's been nothing released at least that suggests they have any idea any leads for who killed Polly Maggie and and I mean you got you got was soon getting something like this taken place in the 1700 acre hunting lodge anomalous and that's it. That's a pretty remote location that not just anybody can roll up on so you would have to think there's there's some kind of connection be at 22 Alec or be it to that the sans the wife there. You almost have to think that this was a targeted event in some fashion, you would have to you have think the people new one where was also own acreage. That big where people would be in that they would even be there, since it's not there. Their primary residence, absolutely. It's definitely a situation. Who knows many different directions.

I'm pulled in every direction in the story so so going back to Ted said they had enemies you know it seems like again I'm not the most well versed on the entire ball of the circumstances surrounding all of these events, but from what I could pick up. You know, listening to other people, especially local folks, discussing the situation there was a perception that this whole family was kind of above the law. They come from great privilege and a lot of times when you have families like that they are naturally going to have a lot of of of people who are overly fond of them and and note don't necessarily wish them will help us way that a fair commentary on the general consensus of the public in there that local area gets to my expert knowledge on South Carolina, local politics, so my just so much here dig into. So right now I guess would be nice to start out saying what what he's actually been charged as we know, Alec Murdoch is in custody. He's been as far as I can tell, denied bond, but what I think is important here Sanders what you point out earlier is that he's not currently charged for any kind of murder know he's not. She does have he's indicted on dozens of charges but they're all financial crimes. I merely really relating to embezzling from his law firm and from clients don't mess with those trust accounts is the big thing with law firms trust accounts are very important or not.

They're not your money and so when you hear stories like this were an attorney is embezzled trust funds from his law firm. He hasn't really stolen from the law firm so much as he stolen from his own clients so those are always terrible news stories. When the when they happen but you hear about it from time to time word attorney has a lot of money in trust and that that's kinda how they they go down. They got some problem like whatever Alec was up against. I guess maybe just creed we don't know.

It's like a big onion and they just keep pilling these layers off as they do more and more research. You never hear about his attorney stealing from the trust accounts and getting away with it.

That's not generally or universally getting a call that was a big thing in law school, you know I came from the Norman Adrian Wiggins school Wallick Campbell when it was still in Goose Creek. It is one of the things you do a law school as they they have attorneys come in who have run afoul of the bar requirements have been disbarred have been suspended and they tell you you know this is will this is what I did. This is why did it EEE you never it's never gonna work out for you brave folks I would never stand in front of a class of law students. This is what I did wrong way. It made it made it.

She yeah I can imagine doing either and and those that I was or member their names. I wish there was some way I could I could think them because I think at a law school. We learned about the law amid a lot of good friends.

A lot of your professors but one of the things that stand out the most to me for my experience at law school was a like every two weeks. We have a guy coming in sitting.

I developed a drinking problem. I put my clients work over my family and and I finally had to get help or you know I ran into financial straits and thought I was borrowing this money but I know now that I was embezzling and just to hear all the stories did a world of good for me as a super fake a technique this day are back in the day you have that the person who had the drunk driving accident.

They come in, or they took the drugs and then they thought they were Dragon.

They scare you that it's a fantastic teaching tool and anyway sweet week. I got off track there but yeah it's it's you.

You can understand the motivation behind someone doing to me just because it's it's a it's not hard to understand the motivation but of all things man's that your trust account is so heavily regulated, it subject to random audit that something that you just you can't cover it up and get away with it so it's it's you have to be truly desperate. I think the point in our discussion of this is I think it speaks to that the desperation of of this individual and and it's crazy to because you're looking at someone who's is already greatly privilege.

We have to assume very wealthy and and still is willing to to dip into his trust account to my embezzled alliance. Is it desperation or is it arrogance not think it's think if and again if I'm not mistaken I think he had a drug problem and I think that's really the key. You think you think drugs will push you to do nothing. It's arrogance as well.

I'm sure it's a it's a confluence of everything but I think the drug peace is a huge factor in that I'll think you make great decisions when you are addicted to an expensive opioid drug and think about how much money you have you.

You can probably blow through that pretty easily with with a bad enough drug habit and that's gotta be my assumption as to what's what's kinda going on there in his law school class must not have had anyone come in to speak to him about the importance of trust accounts and not messing with illegitimate and opioid got to to come speak to must go ahead and kill two birds with one stone.

There I say yes.

That's why Andy Comella school the North Carolina bar that regulation of the bar regulates attorneys and that's the one thing you know you and you you misappropriate you embezzled you. You take trust account money that is not yours and your you're done you just you're done and someone to figure it out yet. I figured I made it made you may not be figured out in 30 days or 30 months.

But at some point someone is in a figure out and that's it and is no there's no coming back from that. There's no slap on the wrist for that. You're done right. So we laid out who Alec Murdoch is who is family is coming up next to start talking about some of the other folks who become involved in this investigation. Interesting stuff guys the outlaw law.

So right now we know who Alec Murdoch is established to Alec Murdoch is the kind of life he was leading.

We know there's been a double murder. He is not a is not been charged with anything that has the authorities start looking in to Alec Murdoch's life and in career and finances. Where can I find a lot of questionable circumstances and and deaths that surround his family that are being given a new light been investigated a different way and so Cassandra's. That was the first one. It kinda comes up. So in 2015, a young man named Stephen Smith died in what at the time was ruled to be a hit-and-run accident. Stephen was a classmate of Alec's son Buster at the time there were really no questions really about what happened.

It was, it was ruled a hit-and-run and everyone moved on. Essentially, however, after Pauly Maggie's debts during that investigation, the Stephen Smith's death investigation was re-opened based on something they found the hunting complex. We don't know what that is though so that's open investigation that I got to share a lot of information with with the general public, but I'm assuming whatever they found in their search was pretty damning evidence for them to open up a four, five, six-year-old investigation in Canada and got a look at it again yet you that desk had to be assumption you know and you yet.

It was a lot of it brings me back to some of the things I heard listen to some of the 911 calls associated with this and this is kind of jumping ahead. But you know you get into some of these incidents that that involve this family and and something that stuck with me as one of the callers there. The reporting what happened and and they state you know who was responsible, which was this one of the members of this Murdoch family and and callers statement was basically good luck.

You know good luck holding them accountable for anything. Good luck. You know that making them be responsible for what they've done in almost makes you wonder if if maybe you and again this is all wild speculation, but I think that's the point of what were doing, but maybe there was something that that was potentially even known at the time and in things kinda get swept under the rug and then when once things start coming to light the people kinda backtrack on.

Who knows you know or like you said maybe something incredibly damning, as is found at the hunting lodge or you know I spend my time talking about that Ahmad Aubrey case and how and that was another South Carolina case. But how so many people in the chain of command recuse themselves refuse to prosecute review student investigate and in some of those folks been criminally charged at this point what kind same thing at his family so well-connected so wealthy so known in the area. Until recently, it has been maybe hard to to make things stick yeah and I guess that's the thing then you get into this pattern and and you get all this will you amount Masters wealth and this power in and maybe there is some degree of protection and that until you know there's just too much smoke you know to to to keep it under wraps and then you like, we kinda seen in this case. Everything starts coming out you know you start seeing and just think, you start looking back to past events with with different scrutiny and it kinda sounds like that's what's that, what's going on here. Stephen Smith was the first again he is he is a victim. He was a murder victim and so his unsolved case is being reopened, but I to me is not the most disturbing one the most stirrings disturbing one is that is Ms. Gloria Satterfield Ms. Gloria Satterfield was the maid and nanny for the Murdoch family for 20 years so she was essentially a part of the family. She spent holidays with them raised Alec Murdoch's children. Essentially for the better part of their lives and in 2018. She died in a tragic accident at the Murdoch house yet.

I read it was it was a fall. I haven't been following too closely, but do we have any any more information with the tragic accident was, so she was apparently cleaning at the top of the stairs and some of the Murdoch's dogs ran behind her and she fell over the dogs and I believe down the stairs and she actually survived in a like kind of a unconscious state for around 20 days after the fall, leaving behind two sons once she did pass so they are dealing with the fallout of the situation now in a very public spotlight.

I hope I never go that way. I hope I hope if I ever fall down the stairs like I can survive it. That's tough man could you what you'll think about walking down the stairs as being a dangerous thing you do it every day. What happens man people you know that that's something that can get you who was the guy who was the famous guy kept pushing his wife down the stairs or Leslie has names that got know exactly or talking. It was, it wasn't barrette.

It wasn't that some your lawyers. Make sure you get this right is a guy like Robert to do is edit whoever it was, there was a guy that was doing a lot of stair push and just passed away this week so that really Smith Satterfield is is is dies, tragic accident at Saul where Alec Murdoch at least to the Smith Satterfield's family feels responsible in some way and and and offers to really understand this from what I read being and I will be an attorney but he was in a is you allow himself to be sued so that the insurance that he had at the house that would cover the incident would be available to the heirs.

Yet he reached out right away to her sons to essentially admit liability, which his insurance company couldn't rollback at that point.

So the Ms. Satterfield's sons didn't sue him and his insurance company using that it was a relative of Mr. Murdoch then volunteered to represent Ms. Satterfield sons in this case, the net debt in and of itself.

How's that possible that just doesn't make a ton of sense you know ethically's conflict of interest by this very strange that they should have patient had counsel who was not not related any other thing that that doesn't make any sense is you're talking about a person who is an attorney immediately on record admitting liability for a wrongful death like nothing really adds up. And I mean you I guess you could look at it and and it through like a very naïve lens and just say this is a very altruistic individual who's trying to help these folks and you know feels bad MA knows, maybe that's the case, it doesn't add up the just makes no sense well and what's come out since then leads us to believe that that may not have been the case the sons did win the case.

They want to $4.3 million settlement against this insurance company and they haven't seen any of that and they were in some assuming they had to be part of the trial process. There were some discoveries they knew what was going on and they knew there was a settlement.

I just never got it yet.

They've they've been waiting on it. They've been checking on it. Ms. Satterfield died in 2018 and I don't know when the settlement actually like went through.

But since that time the Sun-Times received anything and that is part of the charges against Paul Alec Murdoch yes also Ms. Satterfield's heirs, her estate, her heirs, they sued a lot of people because this is obviously Alec Murdoch and his firm were sued, but it looks like they all release. The allegation was Alec Murdoch's, maybe his banker and others like a Bank of America banker involved in another attorney. I think the theory was they all colluded so that none of this money got to the got to the clients but again what I don't understand. From a practical standpoint, is how we can get away with like they knew they had a settlement. They knew that at some point they would get money and you just took their $4.3 million like at some point is very reckless.

I don't think we have had is a pattern of callous reckless behavior and maybe not the best criminal planning going into effect here, and that other people were willing to go along with this, like multiple attorneys I willing to do this is just mind lying to me what county is this a job you never want to go to, literally, ever, always, people involve some I would've been like hey you know what this doesn't sound good, asked somebody about this charge that was that was the Satterfield death and that's again again why Alec Murdoch is in jail now is in charge of all kinds of crimes out of this, but there's still another one to look at. There is there is 1/3 death related to the Murdoch family that's Mallory Beach. She was a classmate of Paul's pol is the son that was murdered this past June in 2019, Paul and his friends went out kind of partying on about they were able to purchase alcohol at a convenience store.

He used his older brothers ID for that and on the way back from their excursion on the boats. Paul he had an alter ego when he got drunk. They called him Timmy and the reports of from the witnesses after the fact say that Timmy came out and was driving the boat and crash the boat and Mallory and one other passenger were thrown from the boat and Mallory was not recovered. Mallory did die as a result of Paul's driving the boat under the influence right right Timmy's driving the boat, Timmy's driving about. I want to joke about the Timmy alter ego, but unfortunately death resulted yeah, it's like it's it's it's unfortunate and it's terrible and I had the same thought that I listen this is this is Allison to the 911 calls related to this incident and this was some of the most you know telling or drenching. Yeah, absolutely because you got very upset people you know that that care about these friends and in listening to them. This is the one I was referring to were there like you know who this guy is good luck good luck charging him with anything. Good luck holding him responsible, and if I'm not mistaken, there was a you you hear this, whoever the caller is just going nuts because I guess that Timmy whoever but whoever this is Paul Timmy. It is laughing and and, you know, cracking up at the scene and this person just like apoplectic going crazy Adam and it just yeah and that's Mallory's boyfriend who was also injured in the accident, his thumb and that 911 call is a little bit hard to understand. His job was broken while he was making the call.

Yeah. Is it terrible acts.

I understood them.

I think is just being from the South got a very thick southern accent have these North Dakota and I could translate for you so so we got a lot out of a lot of stuff going on. We've kinda laid out who he is where he is from some of the sordid affairs that his family has been at least involved in over the past five years or so. They're all coming to light. And so this guy is again like a said before the break is in jail. He has no bond is assets have been frozen several of his family members or our dad. He's in is in a bad spot not to feel sorry for him. He's he's got himself there. It sounds like, but before he was charged before he was arrested. All that was taken a toll on them because we have a weird would you call that Cassandra would you call what happens there where it is of thought, something it would botch set up suicide failure. Yeah, I think it's best we put Joe looks on consults will happen yet so later this past summer. Summer 2021 a couple months after his wife and son had been found murdered. There was what was initially reported to be an attempt on his life that someone shot him in the head. However, while he was trying to change his tire on the side of the road.

However, he did survive it just grazed him. He was air flighted from the scene and it came out over the next couple of days that he actually had hired someone to shoot him in order to defraud his life insurance so that his surviving son would get the money that did not work out in his favor yeah that that that's not good. You know, in a life insurance policy on that a lot of her listeners will have life insurance but usually in most life insurance policies at least newer policies.

If you were to take her own life. Your you're not able to collect her event you you're not able to have life insurance benefits. If you if you take your life right to your heirs. When given the money under a lot of life insurance policies.

If that were to happen so here it looks like, or at least is being alleged that he hired a gentleman us. I'm sure Sonny has client yeah I was I who was yeah a past client hired a past client to to murder him and it in the assumption here is that it just failed. The guy basically just missed which is insane to be a man like you. I guess staging your own suicide is insane in and of itself, but then somehow failing at staging your own suicide close to you how you below should shoot someone in the head that is literally like a shoot me in the head to stand here. I'm not ducking and dodging like I don't I just said it makes very little sense. I just jump in and just make a comment from the back row. I mean if you're in that situation, and someone wants you to shoot them. Think about that you're about to take a human life. Yeah I know it's a lot hard easy easy to pick his worst client that like that the Murray client like you know that's what you get one with some experience. Here's his mother here's my uninformed assumption of what happens.

He's like alright man I want to shoot me in the head and the Gallic coxswain.

He talks that's what that's that's gotta be it. You know, who knows a second thought, it fails, though, so he actually calls 911.

Does he not for his own headshot. Yeah, yeah, interesting is that he's been shot in the head and they come airlifting out. It didn't come out that he had essentially created this plot until a few days later, the very next day it's announced he announces that he has a drug problem and he's going to rehab and it seemed so quick after this suicide or this this attempt on his life that we don't yet know at that point is a suicide attempt and then later that same day. His family law firm put out a public statements that he's been embezzling invite is hiring him lots a lot. That's a lot of like an avalanche all at once tough man. Tough to have a drug problem after headshot wound, I would feel like that's if there's ever a time that you will need painkillers. That's the time we were to talk about this earlier in the year. With so many summer such as Coming out and coming out I'm sure there still more stuff to come out right now at Skynet's, where it stands. That is the sordid story of Alec Murdoch and I just said South Carolina just had a bad account and a bad year for these kind of things a lot more questions than answers. It has kinda separated folks in the two into two camps as fast as his vaccination issue so that it's it's it's big news and I the bite administration through OSHA handed down earlier this artists admin late last year. Since were in 2022 estimate for me for a while, but there was no there is a mandate of sorts passed passed down through OSHA saying that if you are a private employer with more than 100 employees. It was going to be up to you to make sure everybody got vaccinated and if they didn't, within a certain timeframe and they were released. Let go there BF there is a system of fines in place and and things like that but guessing it was basically with the mandate was very yummy not to say I'm glad were work finally talking about codes that you know we something we've never covered on the show we we ducted for along that we would like a few weeks without it math like a world record for us but they were back just like coded and full of the so you see if this was. It was good. You have the Supreme Court for whatever reason there was a lot of state mandates federal mandates about vaccination with wood students and things like that. The Supreme Court had these matters come to home via emergency petition, but just declined to hear them. For the most part is there are two cases in the and the facts are super important. There are two cases that got this mandate to the US Supreme Court, and had oral arguments. I believe a Friday ago when they were really really interesting. Yeah, just as a brief summary you got NFIB versus OSHA which which basically arose from challenges followed by no employers and states against OSHA's vaccine or test mandate. So that's you know that's that. The first and again we talked about that and we actually in a previous episode talked about the mandate. In general, made some predictions as to how we thought it would go, and you also have Biden versus Missouri which involves state file lawsuits to salt salt to to block the vaccine seen mandate issued by the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services under the Medicare and Medicaid laws for workers at healthcare facilities. I think we talked about Joseph. I think we talked about it.

We said just sounds like a tough one. You know, if you want to work for the federal government. The federal government has a right to require certain things, but to required of private employers is something we haven't really seen before.

Maybe we weren't. We were so sure OSHA had the authority to do something like that. Nothing is one of the theories is maybe the Biden administration knew that Congress was going to go for this they did it this way, even though the law the legality behind it maybe wasn't the most solidly just thought of something need to be done. I'm going to get it done, and the court interesting. Listen to this court that is current divided. But listen to this court talk about things, but you deftly sold the justices that get the fine more conservative, asking a whistle was the law here.

How when was the statute word against OSHA the power to do this you so I the liberal justices are more liberal justice can argue facts like a vicious needs to be done. What was just a side of Myra discord about all the kids.

I can't remember exactly what it was but but said he had. This is an epidemic yet to do this, but not a lot of all be argued on that side. I will be really interested to see what would happen. It was the last thing I want to do today is we've we've built up our legal movie tournament right so we decide we take 16 what we think are the best movies that involve the law, the legal process and we have a NCAA style 16 team bracket so even build us up for a while. We had we had a movie in there that we we had some people really hate to jury duty that we had jury duty with Ali shattering and it got a violence reaction from almost everybody would talk to about it so we have since substituted a delightful movie big daddy in its place.

Adam Adamson, jury duty jury duty is in the covert protocol SS or sub and in another qualified team so I we had our winter thriller bracket which included the devils advocate, which I recently re-watched primal fear, Mississippi burning, which I did on VHS, but never finished watching and maybe a time to kill, which Joseph assures me as a very good movie that I've not seen right now trumpets sounding revealing the drama bracket got soreness are the top start of the top with a very popular award-winning film Aaron Brockovich home run hitter right there and working to transition from Aaron Brockovich down the list we have, and justice for all very very classic film we got a few good men to very quotable films you can't handle and then were going were going. Tom Hanks were going to end there were going Philadelphia was, and justice for all you debts – which I know yes Al Pacino you what you do with your time, you're older, you should know the get off the Samson yeah Larry justice for all. I just think Metallica I think it's a movie it's come on man, a few good men made me really want to be a jag attorney yesterday, which he did when to the summer seminar at the Naval Academy and they kicked my butt.
