This mutual battle against the world. The devil in the flesh, we can often be our own biggest and listen to Adrian Rogers you say well I will give my heart to Jesus Christ about what you say. I believe in Christ and you get a heart to Jesus and his soon as you bring as soon as that rock is for you as soon as that water comes to refresh you say you are not going to get it again about how are we going to have victory not only the world but that internal enemy flash will be with us day by day. Welcome to chapter 17, God called the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and led them through the wilderness 14 pastor teacher and author Adrian Rogers said God's plan for his people was not merely that they come out of Egypt and go into the wilderness. His plan is that they go into the land of Canaan. God brought them out, that he might bring them in part one of today's message. We learned of God's provision and purpose for our victory. If you have your Bible turn to Exodus chapter 17.

Now, as Adrian Rogers shares the insightful conclusion of four principles of victory to learn a lesson today about the life of conquest. Remember that at one time. The Jewish people were in Egypt and they were slaves in Egypt represents world, therefore, that we been called out of God called them out of Egypt, Pharaoh was the king of Egypt, Pharaoh represents the data they were headed toward Canaan land of oil and wine, and corn in figs and pomegranates, milk and honey rivers and trees and valleys and hills brass and iron. They were called indicating what this Canaan represent not heaven someday Canaan in the Bible.

Don't miss this Canaan represents victory. Canaan represents the spirit filled life, not a sweep. I am by but in the nasty know now what we can have victory day by day. So as Krista's. We have come out of Egypt. We are coming through wilderness but we headed toward Canaan and we ought to already be there. So Canaan represents the spiritual life. Egypt the world Pharaoh Canaan, the victorious life, but we going to meet somebody now in just a moment represents the flesh that member. I've been having such difficulty with and I know that if you save you been having the same difficulty. Now with that in mind begin in verse eight.

Then came Amalek. Amalek represents the flesh. Then came Amalek and with Israel and ran for them. And Moses said to Joshua Jesus out man and go out and fight with Amalek tomorrow.

I will sample the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand so Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek and Moses and Aaron and her went to the top of the hill and it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, but Israel prevail, and let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. I can imagine Dan Rather being there.

Dan Rather saying there's a battle barman on the field is reporting something, let me get it here in my all yes yes he says there's an old man some old man that has a rod in his hand and as the old man holds up his hand. Something is happening down in the Valley. Ladies and gentlemen, it seems that when the old man holds up his hands. But Josh was Army is victorious, but when the old man's hands go down the armies of Amalek, victorious is a strange thing that we report today. All right now notice verse 12 Moses hands were heading to the stone and put it under him and he sat thereon and Aaron and her status his hands. That is, held up his hands on one side and the other on the other side and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun and Joshua Davis comforted Amalek as just a fancy way of saying he will Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the age of the soul not want to talk to you about four principles of victory and I want to talk to you about something in conquest, you might right now say will I come out of Egypt, but I should have known it again. I have been adult in the well let me tell you how you can change your life. Sincerely, now sincerely from the monotonous to the momentous from failure victory and before you get to heaven you can bring heaven to earth. I am talking to you about salute proof that the Bible teaches, and that I have experienced in my life before things number one you need to receive a gracious provision and that provision is salvation.

Now go back if you will, to the first verse of this chapter and all the congregation of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of sin after they journeys according to the commandment of the Lord and that is a set of dance and record him and there was no water for the people drink. Wherefore the people didn't side with Moses. They scolded him and said it was water that we may drink and Moses Saturday March ID with me. Wherefore, the attempt and the people are still there water and the people murmured against Moses, and said that wherefore is this that thou hast brought us out of Egypt, to kill us children mark out with first bread I've been there.

To this place. You talk about American desolate place. It is indeed a barren and desolate in a dry place and Moses cried to the Lord saying what you like, go to this people baby almost ready to stone me the Lord. Seven Moses go long before the people and take with the of the elders of Israel, and I wear without some notice. The river taken mine hand, and you know Moses had a rod that was a miraculous rod will say more about it later on. Behold, I will stand before the up on the rock in horrible and thou shalt smite the rock and there shall come water out of it that the people made great and Moses did so in the sight of God. I want to get the picture that out there in the barren land. I first Moses got God's as you take this for you. Take a rod and you go to this rock and you with that rod use might that and when you do will come from the rock dear try to get water from a rock water will come from that rock. What is all this about, well, I'm not being fanciful when I tell you this is a glorious illustration would literally happen is a glorious illustration of our salvation put in your margin. First Corinthians 10 and verse four, I remember, I told in first Corinthians 10 verse 11 Bible says all these things happen.

For examples, remember all these things happen for examples first grade this timbers for the Bible says and they did all drink the same spiritual drink, for they drank all that spiritual Rock that followed them and that rock was Christ that rock pictures the Lord Jesus Christ.

The rock of ages Smith and France Isaiah 53 verse four says we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, you see Jesus the rock of ages was smitten for us and because Jesus was smitten for us out of his ribbon side game for that water represents the Holy Spirit which is the water of life and you and I have because the rock was smitten so long ago when Jesus hung up getting blown up on that cross our thank God for the smitten rock. So the first thing if you want to live a life of victory number one.

You must receive a gracious provision which is salvation. Number two, you must realize a grand purpose because being saved is one but God has more much more for you see God's plan for his people is not merely that they come out of Egypt and go into the wilderness of Sinai God's plan for his people was that they go into the land of Canaan. I'm not talking about pie-in-the-sky I'm talking about victory right now, God brought them out, that he might bring them in your next chapter 17.

Exodus chapter 13 just go back just a couple chapters and look with me in verse three and Moses said unto the people remember this day in which he came out for me to just underscore that phrase he came out from Egypt_that out of the house of bondage. For by strength of hand the Lord brought you underscore that from this place special no leavened bread, beaten this day came ye out in the month of a bid and it shall be when the Lord shall bring the end to underscore that. Now bring the end to notice he brought you out that he might bring you in bring you into the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Hittites and highlights in the Jebusites, which he swear underlie fathers to give the watch, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shall keep this service in this month, seven days shall thou eat unleavened bread and the seventh day should be a feast to the Lord. Unleavened bread shall be seven days initial no leavened bread be seen with the new facility.

There be an 11 scene with the in all thy quarters. Thou shall show thy son in that day notice and that they say this is done because of that which the Lord did to me when I came forth out of Egypt. That was all the same God says look I brought you out that I might bring you in my gut says when you get into the land. Notice the land flowing with milk and honey.

Then I want you to celebrate.

Then I want to keep the feast of the Passover. I want to keep the feast of unleavened bread. I want you to celebrate and when you celebrate the feast your sons going to come here and this is me and you can take a sunset celebrating what God did for us. Now suppose they decide to go to celebrate their wilderness. Remember God's in this passenger celebrate in the land not in the wilderness. You have a lot to celebrate in the wilderness. Now suppose that they are father sitting on hot rock sunsetting the cactus and the father says we don't have the feast of Passover that would add to what we do and he said were celebrating son this kid assert sermons about Canaan. That's always her discernment about, and he's never sinking him out of her past Rogers bridge about Danish but he's not saying Canaan. His parents are not living in Canaan. His parents are not living the victorious spirit filled life for not living in victory quality is proud to say that come out of Egypt. They were never going to Canaan and they say that some helix around two or one rattlesnake goes by son is boiling. Tumbleweed is coming along. One would say were celebrating what God is nonporous, they said.

Then go to things that I would get back to Egypt. I mean, where there was fish and garlic's and leaks and melons and finding desert. I'm okay. That's why the bed was getting a lot of our kids are good people. They have come out, but they've never going. They have never learned how to live in victory before their children and the children somehow are sincere when they feel like they had just simply missed it. Alfred God brought us out that God might bring us in, and if you have been one of those simply dumped in the desert. You have to understand not only must you receive a gracious provision salvation, but you must realize a grand purpose, which is a trait that God has for you is 1/3 thing you must respect a grievous problem. There is a grievous problem and what is that problem. Look, if you will again in go back to our text now. Next to 17 and look at verse eight.

Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel what is Amalek who is Amalek, Amalek was again but he was the grandson of Esau and who was, he saw what he saw.

He remember was a man who sold his birthright for a mess of pottage.

I don't have time to get into, but Esau was a profane man. Esau sold his spiritual things for a bowl of stew and Eddie was more interested in the present and future material than the eternal things of the flesh, not the things of the spirit and therefore the Bible calls Esau in Hebrews chapter 12, a profane person who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright, and the Bible teaches in Malachi that God has a perpetual warfare declared upon Esau.

Listen to the Scripture.

Malachi 1 verses one through four. The burden of the Lord to Israel by Malachi. I have loved you, that the Lord yet you say where MS Columbus was not Esau Jacob's brother set the Lord yet. I love Jacob and I hated Esau and latest mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness, where is even said were impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places a lot of those, they shall build but I will throw down, and they shall call them the border of the wickedness and the people against whom the Lord had indignation forever.

I once got talking about God. He is not talk about little babies only says I hate Esau he's talking about a whole nation based on by the Edomites and is not just talk about people in physical bodies is talk about principal and I present was the flesh, not just complicated, so pay attention. Amalek is the grandson of Esau. He is a part of that category of persons that God says I have a textual war with what is Amalek represent Amalek represents what all of us have in us and it is the flesh that you and remember I said I had a church member Avila difficulty with bring you there is an Amalek in you, he is the grandson of Esau and you have this down in your Bibles. Romans chapter 8 verses six and seven to be carnally minded that were currently means fleshly minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God's court is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. And in Galatians 5 verse 17 the flesh lusts against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh, there is that principle that will come against you, the flesh, you say well I will reimage I will give my heart to Jesus Christ today on what you say.

I believe in Christ and you give your heart to Jesus and is soon as you drink that water. As soon as that rock is smitten for you as soon as that water comes to refresh you. Then the Bible says came immediately when you come out of Egypt. The flesh comes comes to say you are going, you are not going to get in the Canaan then came Amalek.

Deuteronomy says he smoke behind most of the when you are weak and thanked God to test us in our strongest point, the flesh will attack us in our weakest point to keep us from entering into Canaan now.

How are we going to have victory not only the world, not of the devil, but that in the eternal enemy. The flesh we all have enemy with us day by day is the next thing I want you to notice and very quickly. You must remember a glorious principal. What is the principal look if you will again beginning in verse nine of this chapter and Moses said to Joshua choose us out man and go out and fight with Amalek tomorrow. I will stand on the top of the hill with a rod of God in mine hand so Joshua did as Moses had said in him and fought with Amalek and Moses and Aaron and her went to the top of the hill and it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed, but Moses hands were heavy and they took us go and put it under him and he said their own and Aaron, and her staying up his hands. The one on one side the other on the other side and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. What is the glorious principal, glorious principal victory is God given how am I going to overcome the old Adrian that church member that I have the most difficulty with going overcome him by rededication my life by struggling no, there is a natural law that flesh is in me and you and when you save the flesh is not eradicated, but thank God you can have victory and the victory is God-given. God said Moses you take that rod. Remember, was the rod of God.

It represents the power of God it was that rod that open up the Red Sea. It was that rod that struck the rock and simple water.

And if the rod that let them out. Bondage the rod that led them out of barrenness.

Now is the rod this going to leave them in battle.

He says take that wrong. Go up to the mountaintop hole that rod up and when you hold that will be repeated. Listen, the victory over Amalek over your flash is a God given victory.

The Bible says in this and you will not fulfill the lust of your flesh.

If I've learned one thing in all my Christian life is this precious friend that holiness is not the way to Christ. Christ as a way to holiness is not just on the edge of playing with words.

He does not say lesson. He does not say if you will not walk in the flesh, then you can walk in the spirit he doesn't say that he says walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. I'm telling you that the victory over your flash is a God given victory.

That's the only way that you're going to come out of Egypt through the wilderness and the Canaan because there's an Amalek within you that stands against you to try to keep you from living in victory but thank God hallelujah praise God. There is a victory when you take the rod of God which is the word of God, the power about the spirit of God and you hold that high mastery we need to pray one for another and help one another friend. We need to hold up one another's hands because the victories God-given.

The victory is one of the mountain is realized in the other sabbatical you can just roll over and and not get in the battle, but the battle is the Lord's what the name what Aaron was he was a priest. He represents prayer her who held at the hands of Moses his name means whiteness of purity purity in prayer chain holding the hands of the people of God. The victories God-given brand-new receive that provision that salvation you remember God's purpose that is Canaan recognize a problem that's the flesh, but then you believe a principal that is if we walk in the spirit will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Father God seal a message to our hearts Lord is so much here. Lord help us to understand help us moment by moment. And day by day to walk in the spirit not fulfill the lust of the flesh you're tired of you said I want to come out of Egypt. I'm tired, sick and tired of Pharaoh telling me how high the jump. I am tired of being beat up by the devil want liberty I want victory. If you thirsting you need a drink from that wrong. His name is Jesus, and I will offer you a drink from the rock today would you pray this prayer dear God just prayed dear God, I know that you love me.

I know that you want to save me Jesus you died to save me and you promise to save if I would trust you. I do trust right now, in my heart come into my heart, forgive my sin save me Jesus prayer friend and meaning. Jesus, thank you for praying for my send with your plan.

I receive it now by faith in Jesus again now to make me the person you want me to be. Give me the courage to make it public, your holy name. Amen, amen.
