We have doubts that mean we are saying this to Adrian Rogers will save about how doubts are not good, but there's even a bright side to doubt you see doubt as to your spirit what pain is to your body. If you're feeling a pain right now, does that mean you're dead. Major live to see you couldn't feel pain unless you had lied about pain is a signal there's something wrong in your body.

Doubt is a signal that there's something wrong in your spirit wealth featuring profound truth. Simply stated by Adrian Rogers. As Christians we have the opportunity to know without a doubt that we had eternal life. Praise God we can be saved and know it, but we can also be saved and doubted his pain is a signal that there's something wrong with her physical body. Doubt is a signal that something is wrong in her spirit. You have your Bible turn to first John chapter 5 is Adrian Rogers offers an encouraging word for those of us who are dealing with doubt. I was in the hospital a while back and I was visiting the lady very near to their loved ones that come in if they were standing around her bedside and I began to talk to this lady and witness to. I found out that she wasn't a Christian. She did not have the assurance of sin forgiven in Christ in the heart/if I might have the permission to share with her how she could know Christ, know the fullness of his joy and his forgiveness in her heart and she said yes I'd like that very much so I opened the word of God and I shared with her the plan of salvation and then I prayed with her and let her in a prayer. She prayed as Christ coming to heart that after I let her in this prayer. I said if you meant that with all your heart, would you give me your hand, and she did that II just praised God in my own heart and I turned to her son-in-law who was there I said it is wonderful that your mother-in-law's been saved.

All he said no one can know that there say I said, but she just prayed and asked Christ coming to our and the Bible says, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

But he said no, no one can know you have to wait until you die and stand before God at the judgment before you can ever really know that you're saying.

I said serve as a verse of Scripture I want you to see is the same verse I want to share with you my dear friend, first John chapter 5 in verse 13 where the apostle John says these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the son of God, that ye may know, K and OW know if sands bots and maybes about it, that ye may know that you have the internal life and that you may believe on the name of the son of God. Now John wrote the book of John and he said he wrote the book of John, that is the gospel of John, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, and believing you might have life through his name. That is, he wrote the gospel of John to evangelize center, but he wrote this little epistle of John is almost a postscript to PS to edify the same and one of the things he wants you to do is to have the assurance of your salvation, he said. I wrote a book of the Bible. This is what I wrote that you might know that you have eternal life, and right away. That tells me two things that tells me different.

You can be saved and no payment. You can be saved to know what John said. I wrote but you might know, but it also tells me that you can be saved and out.

I wanted to tell me that you be saved and doubted because if you couldn't doubt. Why would John arrived we might know, and so on site. He's writing to talk to Christians who have doubts that they might get rid of those down.

It is possible, it is possible to be saved and I have doubts now doubts are not good, but there's even a bright side to doubt you see. Doubt is to your spirit what pain is to your body.

If you're feeling a pain right now, does that mean you're dead. Major live to see you couldn't feel pain unless you had lied about pain is a signal there's something wrong in your body. Doubt is a signal that there's something wrong in your spirit. Doubt is to the spirit. What pain is to the body.

Now I'm not trying to say that doubt is good anymore. I'm trying to say. Pain is good, but pain is good when it becomes a warning signal and doubt is good when it becomes a warning signal to tell us that we need to deal with that doubt. And so I want to show you how to deal with doubt.

Today it is possible to be saved and about a woman told the great evangelist Dwight L. Moody. She said I've been saved 25 years and I never had one single doubt.

He said Mme. I doubt you've been saved that like someone saying we've been married for years and never had an argument I say I touch you been married.

I'm not trying to say that arguments are gonna try to say the pain is good.

I'm not trying to say that doubts are good, but I'm saying that there are facts of life. And when John said, I have written a book that you might know that your save. That is, it is possible to be saved and have doubts about what John was trying to do was to clear up those doubts because he was writing the Christians okay and so what John is giving us here is a way that we can say praise God.

I know that I know that I know that my sins are forgiven. Christ is in my heart in heaven is my home because that is very important.

It is important in service. It is important in soul winning is so important in service to some people, so you're not to get people assurance of their salvation. If you give them the assurance of the salvation then they get real lack know folks that's crazy. The assurance of your salvation is the base that you work from.

You see, when I know that my future secure, then I can concentrate on the present and is so important to soul winning what, so when would a person be who did not have the assurance of his own salvation.

A person is as you come, follow me. I don't know where I'm going.

No listen, we want to follow people who will say with the apostle Paul, I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he's able to keep that which I permitted him to him against that day. John says I wrote this book that you might have assurance that you might Cayenne OW not hold think we surmised that you might know that you have eternal life. And then John gives us three tests and I want to show you those tested in this book. What I've done is to try to take the book and almost convinced the book of first John and to extract out of it. The three major tests that John gives that we might know that we have eternal life and he tells us before each of these test that this is a task that is a benchmark or a birthmark, as it were salvation so I want us to look at these test the first test.

I'm going to call the commandment test.

Look with me in first John chapter 2 and we begin in verse three. All right, first John chapter 2 and verse three and hereby we do know that we know him. If we keep his commandments. I just underscore that remark about somewhere. If you are one who likes to mark your Bible and don't be afraid to wear out a Bible. If you were out, the Bible say praise God get to know when a man about is if you have a Bible, is falling apart.

You probably have a life. It's not hereby do we know that we know him. If we keep his commandments.

He that sent I know him and keep is not his commandments is a liar. When why John did just say what he thinks was a beat around the bush like that he that says I know him and keep is not his commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him and have the idea that John had been in some doubt about this testimonial meeting were man stood up. Talk about a salvation how bad it was, be saved know John was a liar. I know the way you live. You say that you know him you don't keep his commandments. You're listen he goes on verse five and so keep his word, in him, verily, is the love of God perfected.

Hereby know that we are in him. He that saith he abide in him ought himself also.

So to walk as he walked. That is John's logic is impeccable. If I am in Christ and Christ is in me than I'm going be walking like Jesus will and Jesus of course keeps the command of God, a person who says that he say he doesn't keep the commandments of God is lying.

That's what Johnson I don't use churches a member. I don't care how much theology has in his.

I don't care what kind experience. He had an older John says if you are not keeping the commandments of God, you say that you know him your line well I master? How many ever since you been saved at Every command of God never broken one. None of what I Wightman that mean that none of us are saying what John says if we know him we going to keep his commandments.

The key is in this working. This more.

Keep is a Mariners word back in this day when a man would be out of the high seas. He would steer by the stars.

He would keep his eye fixes focus on the stars and he would steer by the star that keeping is the same word that John borrows here to you details about keeping the commandments of God that is the commandments of God are going to be the standard by which I chart my I order my life by the commandments of God that this does not mean, of course, that a man alive seas cannot be blown off. It doesn't mean that he might not oversteer. It doesn't mean that he might not not at the wheel and somehow he distracted are somehow failed to keep a perfect chart, but the goal became the desire, the controlling factor in his life stars as he keeps his eye on the stone the same way with the commands of God.

You see, John is not talking about sinless perfection. The Bible does not teach sinless perfection, but the Bible does teach that we have no right to call ourselves children of God. If we do not care for God's commandments we don't order our lives by God's command I tell you, folks that people walk down the aisle churches and shake hands with preachers and join churches like that joining a country club. There is no change of heart. There is no change of life. They don't change their lifestyle.

They live in the same ungodly lies. Those people have no reason whatsoever to think that they're going to have. I said divorce again. If your religion and change your life, you better change your religion any man be in Christ he is a new creature. We are not talking about sinless perfection, but I'm trying to tell you, my dear friend that the goal, the aim of your life will be live according to the word of God and the commandments of this book and hereby do we know that we know him. If we keep his commandments. If we chart our course by the word of God.

And that's the way says it positively. Let me tell you how he says it negatively is almost the same thing. Let's look at you will him first John chapter 3 in verse six whosoever abides in him sent is not whosoever Senate had not seen him, neither known him.

Mo Johnny didn't mince words, doesn't look in verse eight he that committed sin is of the devil for the devil Senate from the beginning. For this purpose, the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. And if you think that's tough looking verse nine whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin. I watch it for his seed remain within him.

That is the nature of God remains in him and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

He can sin was. I will wait a minute, Pastor, if you try to give assurance you're not helping me very much well is John contradicting himself looking verse eight if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. And Otis John included himself and that he said we not you, but we John was talking about himself and he said we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Looking verse 10 we say we not sin would make him a liar and his word is not in looking chapter 2 verse one my little children, these things right unto you, that your sin not, and if any man sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And if any man sin, and yet then he says over here in first John three verse nine whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin, for his seed remain within him and he cannot sin, because he is born of God now cloaks on the surface, that's a contradiction. On the one place he says is impossible for Christian to Sam and the other place he says if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and we almost feel like saying John make up your mind. But what John is simply saying in the present tense is in first John chapter 3 when a man is born of God. He does not habitually practice sin and you read that in an amplified translation. If you have an amplified translation that's exactly what John is a person that is born of God cannot habitually practice sin. He cannot make sin. His lifestyle John is not talking about sinless perfection. The first chapter makes it very clear we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not as he is not talking about the life of a libertine hey person who is a church member who's had no change of lifestyle. John is saying if you know the Lord Jesus Christ. If you been born of God.

You cannot habitually practice sin.

Why because your seed remains in you, what is he talking about the see the remains in you, he's talking about that germ of life that is come from God. You are born of God.

You have been made a partaker of the divine nature and that divine nature is what: wholeness, God is holy, that if you can sin willfully, knowingly, deliberately, actually and you feel no conviction, no compunction
