What is our most trusted source to tell us who we are to Adrian Rogers. We can just go on and on and on and talk about what the Bible says we are, and what reality shows that we are now where is the problem anyone about this contradiction.

Do you think you are right in the Bible is wrong so you just go to dumb down the Bible is not just the Bible, and more. The Bible to match our lives look into not worth fighting between the profound yet good messages, pastor and teacher. Much as we just heard there seems to be a gap between what the Bible says we are in Christ and what we are in reality we are called to be victors yet so many live his victims pastor Roger said we need not to make the Bible match our lives, but to make our lives match the Bible we must appropriate what God has already provided for us and possess what he's already given.

If you have your Bible turned out to Romans chapter 7 is Adrian Rogers begins part one of learning to possess your possessions are not living up to our profession, and Christ's little boy had a dog and somebody said some what kind of dog is that really the dog was just a mongrel with a little more proud of his dog said he's a police dog and someone said when it doesn't look like a police dog guy said well he's in the Secret Service. I will are Christians who say they don't behave like they're not living victorious lives. And there's something wrong there something missing there seems to be a gap. For example, the Bible says concerning the Lord Jesus Christ that we are complete in him is real have need of anything in the spiritual realm in the Lord Jesus, but how many Christians would remind you of somebody like that. The Bible says concerning those of us were safe.

We are over Congress mostly resign or overcome. They are victims rather than victors. The Bible says that when we say we have the peace that passes understanding, and joy unspeakable and full of glory. How many Christians would you say I know a man I know a woman, a boy and a girl, a great deal of that peace that passes understanding that have joy unspeakable and full of glory. Jesus said if you breakable water that I will give you you will never thirst again. How many satisfied people in this congregation who say I am completely satisfied in the Lord Jesus Bible teaches in Romans chapter 8 we going to get to the first part of that chapter this morning that in Christ we are all than conquerors. Well I I wonder if we're Congress at all and we can just go on and on and on and talk about what the Bible says we are, and then what reality shows that we are now where is the problem anyone about this contradiction. You think you're right in the Bible is wrong.

So what are you today were just going to dumb down the Bible probably just going to buy just the Bible and more the Bible to match our lives, the bookstore manager told me in Florida when times of pastor do you know what happened to me said a lady came in here wanted to know if I had a lavender Bible. She said next Sunday was Easter and she was going to wear a lavender dress and she wanted the Bible to match her grants now nothing really wrong with that but I got to thinking how many of us want the Bible to match our lives the we want to somehow bring the Bible down to our lives rather than bring our lives up to the Bible. The regiment got out ahead of the flag. The flag brother got out ahead of the regiment in a battle, and the man said. Sgt. the flags out ahead of the regiment. Shall I bring it back. He said no.

Bring the regiment up to the flying. That's what we need to do in our Christian life. We need to bring our lives up to the standard that God has for us the truth of the matter is that we are all of these things that I just described. We are overcome, as we do at peace that passes understanding. Jesus Christ is made in this wisdom, righteousness, like negation, redemption, but somehow we need to bring the regiment up to the flag and we need not to make the Bible match our lives, but to make our lives match the Bible, not what is the key out what is the answer to this riddle. This problem what you need understand that two keywords and first the first key thing that were thinking about is what God's with all that probation.

God is made provision for us. That's one keyword but the other keyword is appropriation. Now God has made the probation partners but that probation does us no good until we appropriate what God has done for us.

That's the reason I've called this message. Learning to possess your possessions. I think I can illustrate what I'm talking about and the difference between provision and appropriation. For example, the Bible says in first John chapter 2 in verse two that Jesus Christ is the propitiation for our sins that has a double-jointed word which means satisfaction. He's the satisfaction class and not for ours only but for the sin of all, behold the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the Jesus died for the syllable. Yes, what is there still sin in the world of colds.

Why because people are not appropriate what Jesus did on the cross right.

I they did not possess the possessions. That's the reason Bible says in John 318 he that believe the limit him is not condemned but he that believe is not is condemned already, because he is not really. I mean provision has been made, but he has not appropriated that that which is his seat provision on the one hand appropriation on the other hand are. Let me give you another example. Once you get saved we are crucified with Christ that when Jesus died.

His dad had on a moment and so the Bible teaches clearly in Colossians 3 verse three for ye are dead ye are dead in your life is hid with Christ in God. That is true about every mother's child who say you are dad, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Jesus died, you died with. Well that is true. That's Colossians 33 but Colossians 35 says mortify therefore your members which are upon their the word mortify me to put it in, wait a minute when the Bible say were already dead. Is that a contradiction know what he is saying is, yes, technically you are dead with Christ. But practically you must appropriate what you have in the Lord Jesus Christ through the when the children of Israel came out of Egypt they were going into Canaan. They were coming out of the land of bondage into the land the blessing, and God told Joshua. Joshua chapter 1 I love this. He said Joshua every place every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon I listen to this. Every place have I given you not will I give it to you.

I have all ready given it to you every place that you put your foot down to joints. It's already yours it's already yours it's already old now. It was there, but they had to possess the possession God didn't say if you put your foot on it. I will give it to you. God said, I have given it to you. Now go in and possess your possessions are you following me folks are you listening to me know what I'm trying to tell you is that you have so much that you have not yet possess there is God's provision, there must be your appropriation and it doesn't matter what God is done for you if you appropriated it won't be yours. I think I did one more illustration about what it means to possess your possession. How many of you be honest with me have books in your library at home but you haven't read them yet that is that book yours, yes, but you and possess your possession.

I mean is doing, you know. It's there. It is your blow but you have not appropriated that which is yours. So remember, on the one hand there is the word probation. On the other hand, there is the word appropriation now. With that in mind. In Romans chapter 7 where going to learn how to appropriate where going to learn how to possess our possessions. Now let's read in Romans chapter 7 verse one know you not, brethren fry speaking to them that know the law, how that the law hath dominion over man as long as you live for the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth, but if the husband be dead. She's loose from the law of her husband so minutes while her husband liveth should be married to another man.

She should be called an adulterous.

But if her husband be dead, she's free from that law so that she is no adulterous though she be married to another man.

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ, that ye should be married to another, even to him who was raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit on the God good night past the ones that had to do with living victorious. Why did Paul write in the middle of this passage. Why does he start talking about marriage and divorce and dying and remarrying what one on earth is this well. He's giving us an incredible lesson an object lesson and then I just I am amazed at the genius of the apostle Paul Corsi did it by divine inspiration, as he gives the story. Here's the story of a woman who is married to a man I don't miss the analogy of policymaking. That man's name were going to call him Mr. law Mr. law. She is married to Mr. law that you know that the law of the Lord is perfect, and so she is married to a perfect man.

She's married to a perfect man, that you might think it would be wonderful to be married to a perfect man she thinks I got the catch. Man, II got the best guy. I am married to a man, a gentleman named Mr. law and she says what a wonderful noble husband. I have Mr. law Mr. law is very rigid man.

Mr. law has extremely high standards any state before Mr. law goes off to work. He tells his wife want to be, says do this and this and this and this and he says don't do this and don't do this and don't do this. She says yes beloved husband gives him a kiss.

Her intentions are so good she's going to obey him and do every thing that he tells her to do. But in the course of the day.

She finds out that she did not do everything he told her to do and some things he told her not to do that, she slipped up and then when he comes home he checks up on her.

He finds out that she did not do everything that she was supposed to do and she did something she was not supposed to do and he's goals are and she feels guilty over but she says I'll do better tomorrow and he gives instructions tomorrow do this do this do this and don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that.

She says yes husband you are so wise you're so strong in everything you've told me to do is write to me when he comes all she's failed again and again and again and again. After a while she said I'm sick of being married to him.

I don't want to be married to perfect man.

I can please him like a woman made up her mind. One day she was going to please her husband.

No matter what he said so she says sweetheart what do you like for breakfast. He said eggs. She said how would you like config sweetheart is that I want one fried and one scrambled. She said all right when in the kitchen and fried an egg and scrambled in a put them on the table. He still had a pouch he said now what's wrong. He said you scrambled the wrong egg matter some people that you just can't please so she says I wish I could get out of this thing, but I can't get out of it I I'm married to him as long as we live. I'm not free to go off and marry some of the man God God's plan is not that way.

I was stuck with this guy and he's all wait a minute, wait till they die wait to Mr. law dies and then when Mr. law dies, I'll be free because she's been looking at another man already. That man's name is Mr. love and she said I'm tired of Mr. law.

I want to marry Mr. love but I can't marry Mr. love because I'm already look to Mr. law, but I'll wait. When Mr. law dies but then it dawns on her. Mr. law is not going to die. This man has an iron Constitution.

As a matter of fact the Bible says about him to fax not one will fail from the choices he's not going die. I am stuck with that.

She has an idea. Maybe he won't die, but maybe I'll do.

Maybe I can die and then if I die then I can be married to Mr. love I know what you're thinking. How can a dead woman marry anybody well here's a wonderful story. Here's what the apostle Paul is say watch this now.

Chapter 7 look and burst forth. Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law. Now what's this by the body of Christ is talking about the death, burial and resurrection of Christ that he should be married to another, even to him that is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit on the God is not a great illustration. Paul is saying is this big ass by nature we are married to the law and the law makes demands upon us that we cannot meet no matter how hard we try, but when Jesus Christ die. We died with him. We became dead to the law by the body of Christ that had our name on it is burial have our name on it is resurrection that our name on it and we died with him. We were buried with him where raised with him and we have a new life and now friend where the bride of Christ with a broad brush did not. A good analogy. All right now here's the first step down, possessing your possessions. Are you ready for learn diene and start living is not contradictory learn diene and start living. You will never possess your possessions until you come to the end of yourself.

Remember this moment I had to die. I'm not now you say will I don't want to die, pastor, while not being morbid.

I didn't say just learned dying I said learned dying and start living, die to the old way that some reasons that Jesus Christ said if any man will come after me letting take up his cross across is not the way around your neck.

It's for Dino you die is the man that dies it will woman the dies so that you can become a new person.

Jesus said in several will save his life to lose but a server shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel is essential find it when we were little boy.

We used to play finders keepers losers weepers ever play that where Jesus is keepers, weepers, losers, finders when you lose your life for his sake in the Gospels, then you find it to say I'm sick and tired of their life. I'm sick and tired of trying to please the law. I came to Jesus you died for me.

I died with you. I come to the end of that away learned dying and then you start living now, I'll admit nobody wants to say I want to die, but was go to him, but nobody wants to die right but you gotta go through something to get to something you have to go through something to get to something you have to go through death to get to heaven, and Frank you have to go through death to yourself to get to the victorious life.

The reason that so many of us are not feel the spirit is very frankly were so stuffed full of ourselves is not room for the spirit we have to come to the end of ourselves and learned dying learned dying so we can start living. I am not being morbid pimping joyful because Jesus did Sarah come that you might have death, Jesus and live coverage might have life had abundant but not into your sick and tired of that old life, not into you say yes Jesus because you die I died with you. Thank God. When you rose by Rose with you. So were talking about possessing your possessions number one learned dying so you can start living number two second principle you ready for stop trying and start trusting learned dying and start living. Stop trying and start trusting most of us don't understand that we think when we get saved but I came down the aisle. I gave my heart to Jesus Christ. I got baptized up there in that baptistery. I am saying hallelujah I will say it anymore.

I'm married to Mr. love. We go alone for a while and then something happens that old flesh rises and we do something, say something, think something we show I thought I was saying that come from God, I'm sorry.

Forgive me a line. I re-consecrate my life. I'll never do that again. Lord and would fall flat on my face.

When given a preaching service and the preacher will preach we get on the conviction you say. I haven't been the kind of a Christian. I need a bailout debate can we rededicate we consecrate our lives and we say I will and will fail again you ever been there. I've been there. I think almost every new Christian is been you find out that you don't have what it takes. Now folks, I'm telling you that a lost man cannot keep the law of God, and I'm telling you.

Also let us save man cannot keep the law of God in his own strength. Here's what Paul found Outlook in verse 18. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh well is no good playing portal will is present with me. But how to perform that which is good. I find no, I will serve God either lies in the law of God and the inward man but I find another law present in the other two laws I want to look at here.

Beginning verse 21, and folks listen, we're just hitting the top were skimming the surface. Listen, here's Paul's testimony now as a young, carnal Christian, I find then a law that when I would do good, evil is present with me antibiotics a been there done that legacy again-find a law that when I went evil is present with me to the law of God after the inward man you want me hypocrite.

He did, but I see another wall warring in my members against the law of my mind the law of his mind was the love that he had forgot. But there's another Ward's members as eyes his ears his tongue toward bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

So Paul says the two laws.

First of all, there is the law of sin and what the law of sin is the law of sin is the law that makes you do what you do tomorrow center there is a principle that's in you and in me and is called a flash and everyone of us have. It is not a one of us that does not have it.

It's working in us.

I don't care how pious you look how nice you look, you having you will all a predisposition call the law of sin. Now, what did Paul discover. Well, he came to a place where was almost broken hearted and he says in verse 24 nightmares commanders crews no longer married to Mr. Lloyd married Mr. love, and he says wretched man that I am, shall deliver me from this body are from the body of his asked the question and thank God he gives the answer in verse 25 I saying God through Jesus rise.
