The following program is recorded content created by the Truth Network seriously on Good Friday in the first day of Passover. The New York Times posted an op-ed calling for people to get rid of God's time for the light a fire with your host biblical scholar and cultural commentator Dr. Michael Brown your voice for more savvy and spiritual clarity. Call 866-34-TRUTH to get on the line of fire and now there's your host Dr. Michael Brown friends.

We're here for you.

Encourage as truth.

You can make an impact in the world in which you live.

We are here to be your voice for moral sanity and for spiritual clarity and boy boy do we need sanity and clarity. Today, when more than ever.

I can remember my lifetime. It seems like the world around us is literally losing its mind, not to mention it's all welcome to the line of fire.

Here's a recall, 866-34-TRUTH 866-34-TRUTH 87884 there so many shows were people want to call in and we don't get to all the calls are you got things, wrestling on the inside he is I want I want to air that I want to discuss.

While phone lines are open for any and all subjects as we get into the broadcast first and foremost I want to ask you a question. Why do you think it is that often the secular media right around the time of Easter or Christmas.

What will launch some article will publish some controversial article or new book will come out targeted for right than say denying the resurrection right around resurrection Sunday or casting aspersions on the life of Jesus. No, around Christmas time. Have you noticed that pattern now. I put out a book about the resurrection of Yeshua the resurrection of Jesus, and arguing it from a Jewish viewpoint, and in order to reach Jewish people and we put that out intentionally can arouse beginning of Colbert told resurrection. If you missed it, but that came out right around the time of Passover Easter intentionally to to build faith to encourage, but if you notice the secular media often does the opposite of that. That's the time to attack. So I should I say no surprise or should I say still, this was a bit of a surprise it was so over so aggressive but but check this out this is New York Times Friday November this is Good Friday on the Christian calendar.

And that night, first day of Passover on the Jewish calendar and it it's entitled in this time of war. I propose we give up God and then the graphic for the articles by shalom Auslander will talk more about him in the moment the graphic is by Leanna Fink and it's got this giant angry looking being this man is supposed to be God holding someone in his hand. Some victim and then like a lightning bolt was underhanded. Marching through the city, like Godzilla like that's the graphic that's the God that we allegedly worship and that we should get rid of this is New York Times op-ed piece of all of all days. I mean you go to website after website after website Christian websites showing the Good Friday theme of the death of Jesus document is resurrection coming that Sunday may website it even more secular websites that they have a conservative bent article after article I wrote a special article about the substitutionary atonement of Jesus and and then and then if you go to Jewish websites. Of course there's been talk for weeks leading up to pass over the course that's can be the focus.

So New York Times is telling his readers what it really thinks of the many op-ed's that were submitted to the New York Times and they made even solicited this I don't know, but… It was submitted.

Of the many that were submitted that date.

They chose this one that's saying something is New York Times readers yet another slap in your face. So what about the author of the article, shalom Auslander, so it says this Mr. house lender was born and raised in the town of Muncie New York is the author of foreskins lament and hope the tragedy.

His most recent novel is mother for dinner that Primus told me everything I needed to know. He was raised in Muncie and he confirms us in the article and he was raised in ultra Orthodox Jew and is obviously not to stepped away from traditional Judaism, but from belief in the God of the Bible. More specifically, or more generally, and therefore wants us to get rid of this hurtful, angry God, who in his view, is guilty of war crimes should be prosecuted rather than emulated. Yeah, that was my response to that is, what sinister to Brown.org support other websites as well with Lucy. My response to his articles you can share with others and get some terrific quotes in there and in the responses wall quotes from others is asked Dr. Brown.org but let's do this. Let's read through his editorial and then will, I'm not mad at him for field terrible for him. In his mind he's liberating his monies free his mind is enlightened and he probably feels bad for people like me but just being candid. I'm not angry with him. My heart goes out to him and for that to truly come to know God the way that he never has before.

So here's what he writes this weekend Jews around the world will celebrate the holiday of Passover, the name of which comes from the story of God quote passing over the homes of our distant ancestors is way to slaughter the firstborn sons of evil Egyptians our forefathers. The story goes more third riposte with lamb's blood in order to spare their own sons. The awful fate of their enemies. This time of war and violence of oppression and suffering. I propose we Passover something else God to aspects. He writes of the Passover story have troubled me since I was first taught them long ago in Orthodox yeshiva in Muncie, New York was eight years old is the holiday approach, the rabbi commanded us to open up the machine all test is not technically the machine that's five books of Moses were all testaments to the book of Exodus to get us in the holiday spirit. He told his gruesome tales of torture and persecution Egyptians. He told the Jews the corpses of your slaves in their buildings in the slaves to build their buildings. I asked in the slaves died from work most of the rabbi they put the Jewish bodies into the walls and use them as bricks phone was something of a handyman at the time and this seemed to be a serious violation of basic building calls. Not to mention a surefire way to lose a home sale is this brick interested couple asked notices the realtor that's corpse.

This is troubling, even more so today in the light of the Brutal Slaughter Taking Pl. in Ukraine with the place themselves. God, the rabbi said stroke all the Egyptians with his wrath of his fellow soldiers, Egyptians, young and old, innocent, guilty, suffered locusts and frogs, hail and darkness piece running wild and water becoming blood mothers nursing their babies. The rabbis explain found their breast milk had turned to blood.

Just get interject this for a moment here before go back to the article, nor does the Bible say anything about mother's breast milk.

Turning to blood or milk trying to blood survey heard these from the rabbis grids for the rabbis is give them do that with the Bible sis just just for the record list there sometimes recently not even think about reading.

Okay back to his article EA my classmates cheered, but Farrow. The story continues still wouldn't relinquish the slaves.

Technically, this was God's fault.

The SQL hardened Pharaoh's heart, but future free will would be controlling into my teens. So God in his mercy started coming babies reverse one single individual shall die for the firstborn.

Farrow sits on the throne to the firstborn of the servant girl truly a wondered there are some Egyptians who didn't whip Jews didn't have anything is Jews at all. Truly there Egyptians horrified by slavery Egyptians who disagree with Barrows often as we do with our own leaders. Everyone I asked the rabbi he struck everyone.

Everyone rabbi said EA. My classmates cheered God. It seems paints with a wide brush paints with the roller in each of center rabbi. He been killed. Firstborn cattle. The cookhouse, if you were moral.

Got abuse Christians and Muslims would be dragged to the Hague that we praise and we emulated. We implore our children to be like him press now is Mrs. rain down the debtor. Discover the nest raises a good time to stop emulating the faithful God. Perhaps we can stop extolling his brutality.

Perhaps now's a good time to teach your children to Passover God to BS on like him as possible. So God killed them all the rabbis and priests and imams can preach to their classrooms.

This was wrong. Children of God through Adam and Eve out of Eden for eating an apple, they can cause the students that's called being heavy-handed children cursing a little for eternity because of these choices that's called collective punishment children they can one. The young don't do that boo the children will jeer. I was raised strictly Orthodox rights, old school dental fabulous every year at the beginning of the Seder, the Passover meal. We welcome and the hungry poor Jews who can afford to have a say themselves.

It's a wonderful human gesture a few hundred hours of God.

Later the end of the Seder we open the front door because imports are wrath upon the nations that did not know you, God does with plagues and floods with fire and fury on the young and old. Guilty and innocent.

We humans made in his image to the same with fixed wing bombers and cluster bombs were so purported propelled mortars and a Thermo barrack rocket launchers what God killed the firstborn cattle. My rabbi said because the Egyptians believed they were God's killing gods is an idea I can get behind this year at the end of the Seder's detour door is open to strangers to people who are throne the terrifying them to the evil others whose people seem so different from us. Those who those we think are enemies or who think us there is but if they sat down on the table with us. We do that fine despite who find it seasonally, no doubt find despise the founders of this roes must we do and retrieve the same darn the substitute that saying as us all piece okay again reading it out loud. After reading it last night and writing about it. My heart goes out to the author even more.

I don't say that in a condescending way.

And again, my assumption would be if he happened to be listening to this or read my article which I know some who do either, but if you happen to that he'd be shaking his head. This poor fool who doesn't get it in a think you be that way. Automating any condescending way. I'm just 100% sure of the reality of God and the reality of the goodness of God and the reality of the mercy of God. The reality of the justice of God, not just because what's written in the Bible because of his dealings in my own life over 50 years. But when I read this I understand many kids growing up in religious homes, Christian, Jewish, to have these hidden questions and they don't find a way to ask their questions. You're not allowed to say what you question got you question the Bible you question the pastor you question the rabbi you question her traditions so often people hold onto these questions, as opposed to us raising our kids in an environment where if they really are struggling or they really don't see this is right or fair that that we welcome their questions that we we welcome their issues. If you suppress them you come out later in the guy, probably in pretty hostile formulator.

Best thing to do as you teach and train the kids is be sensitive as in if you have questions about anything just going to ask if he was a mom or dad don't have answers with youth leader don't have answers. That's a great question. But let's get an answer to that together you study and learn. Get answers, but that this is what happens is not questioning that in the environment in which he was raised. Certain questions were off-limits final question that at all can happen in a religious environment that is counterproductive just causes people to suppress her doubts and then they come out later with intensive line of fire with your host Dr. Michael Brown get on the line of fire by calling 866-34-TRUTH here again is Dr. Michael Brown passages the trouble you not that you find difficult to understand. That seemed pretty clear in terms of what they're saying but the trouble you, because it paints God in the bad picture which seems to call believers to do things that are morally wrong or you simply can explain when an atheist sincerely ask you questions or challenge and challenges you were a nonreligious person ask you a question in I don't know why the question fair enough. The Bible tells us they can be questions that we know because it is the nature of the Bible having books like Job and Ecclesiastes in their Savior not raise the question is will raise them for you absolutely, absolutely.

So if you've got a question, difficulty with biblical morality, difficulty with biblical standards, something that strikes you is is unfair, may be something that Mr. Auslander raised in his article the bill means give us a call 866-348-7884 okay you want to raise an issue at as I interact with this New York Times op-ed piece as it raises questions that others have raises will hear from us Pacifico specific traditional Jewish group viewpoint, but of larger universal moral interest. It raises the question of how do we know the difference between right and wrong between good and bad it if there is no God, so we are there random products of an unguided evolutionary process which at its base is moved by the survival of the fittest. It is there any such thing as moral good and moral bad in.

In other words, Jews think that when a lion kills and eats a zebra that it has any second thoughts about that. It has any compunctions of conscience that it struggles and said, was it right for me to kill that zebra to keep myself alive were to keep the Cubs alive. No, no whites in animal and and this animal is doing what it needs to do to survive, and when the zebra gets away from the lion use on the edge of starvation.

This is zebra think hey I preserve my own skin and so if I feel bad for the feel bad for the line is gonna die was a predator away from the predator. So if if we are simply again freak random products of an unguided evolutionary process which is ultimately driven by survival of the fittest. It is there such a thing is right or wrong, you know, we have the saying that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Right. And in many ways that's true.

Different cultures esteemed different things as being beautiful. You may look at it at a woman from one very fine culture and think that someone appealing and the men there think she's incredibly attractive and then then one of our beautiful women stands before them and Alec knew this poor lady is a guy that we think. Now this guy, he looks he looks strong and fit Sonos Lexuses was met with him.

You know what I was getting in the car one time in this auto mechanic so I could use these parts using of the same. One man's garbage is another man's gold so is it the same with morality and ethics. I watch debates between believers and atheists with the atheists had to say that there is nothing intrinsically wrong about Nazis slaughtering Jewish children because there is no intrinsic right or wrong, we may agree on certain things is right or wrong, but a different culture may have a different take on different culture may have given position on so here's a fundamental issue that we have to address right.

This is very common in apologetics interaction with atheist, but some you have to push because ultimately the state.

Again if we are simply the random results of an unguided evolutionary process then is CS Lewis's we can entrust thought itself. It's these are just neurons firing. This may be our perception of reality but has nothing to do with reality or reality itself may not have ultimate right or wrong in it pay after all, if I slaughtering half of the human race we could preserve the human race for several more generations is a food supply. Is that a good and humane thing to do. Rather have everyone starve to death. And this is some of the early eugenics, philosophy, and similarly, Margaret Sanger, abortion, philosophy so here's what CS Lewis wrote number.

He was an atheist who intellectually became a theist and then after that became converted became a Christian. Listen to what he wrote. I have this in my article about master to brown the Lord my argument against God, he says, was that the universe seems so cool and unjust, but how and I got this Dia idea of just and unjust man does not call a line crooked… Some idea of a straight line was I comparing this universe with my called it unjust if the whole show was bad and senseless for me to see so to speak. Why did I was supposed be part of the show by myself in such a violent reaction against it.

He continued, of course, I could've given up my idea of justice by saying it was nothing but a private idea.

My own but if I did that to my argument against God collapsed to that argument. The argument depended on saying that the world was really unjust, not simply that it did not happen to please my private fancies this in the very act of trying to prove that God did not exist in other was that the whole of reality was senseless. I found I was forced to assume that one part of reality, minimum idea of justice was full sense. Consequently, atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning. We should never have found out that it has no meaning, just as if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creature with eyes, we should never know it was dark dark would be without meaning. Some other words, Mr. Auslander's hold moral outrage against God undercuts rather than supports his argument.

Now you might say well I believe in a God, but not the God of the Bible all okay that's that's a different step that's different step this and I believe were created. I believe that there is a God of justice and morality, just not the God of the Bible.

I that something else to discuss. That's quite different than quote. Get rid of God, get up ton more to say and tell you it the end of the phones on the other side of the break and Glenn in Dayton, Ohio. You are first up because I posted a meme about this very topic that you want to talk to… And do this on the on the other side of the break, something like the hardening of Pharaoh's heart.

How did God be fair and just as in Pharaoh, repent with the children of Israel go. But my firstborn son go on and kill your firstborn son, and Faro select okay sounds good to me. I want to get killed my firstborn son get killed and all that had gone ahead because Nero heard her heart and froze on second thought, no, no essence, it would happen if I have a whole video never watch this.

I have a short video in an in-depth video on the 15, 20 minutes long and it's linked in my article and Esther to Brown.org, a detailed video actually showing you the Hebrew text and showing you the words to demonstrate first Faro repeatedly hardens his heart before God does anything. One time another time another time another time then the first thing the Hebrew says is is is the very the verb with because sake to strengthen God then strengthens Pharaoh's heart. He strengthens his resolve. No was okay. You want to harden your heart you want to say no honest strengthen your resolve to do what you want to do.

So that's the next thing that happens and then after that with obeyed, which is to make heavy so this is now giving him over to his sin. Just like an alcoholic hitting drunk and then the more they drink the drunker they get in the loose sensibility, even more so they want to drink even more. We are given over to our sins in our addictions is a natural result and then finally the Hochschild which is to harden that would now be God's judgment on Faro for his cruelty for his years of cruelty for following the footsteps of those who for decades and centuries acted with cruelty and on and on negotiable.

What about the innocent Egyptians will remember that Israel leaves Egypt with a mixed multitude. Many want to leave with them. They can even suggest that at this critical time.

They could even join with Israel text does not say that this didn't happen that they could have joined with Israel and taken refuge in the homes of of Israelites so that the destroying angel would pass over them as well. The text does not say that did not happen, but what is implied, was that the nation corporately was involved in enslaving of of Israelites and that people actively participated in this that that it was just looking the other way. This was a way of life. This was something they leaned on the did not have a Civil War over this like America did all right and and that ultimately judgment fell after repeated warnings and repeated warnings of repeat wants to think of this got wind of the hundreds of years before he brought judgment ultimately God's patience and mercy are displayed in the same God's laws to the children of Israel don't hurt the foreigner will hurt the stranger. You know how you are mistreated in Egypt don't do that to others the same God puts forth Lord laws. That is, don't put a stumbling block from the blind don't curse the deaf, don't take advantage of the widow or the orphan sconces on their gone on the protector of the innocent and the downtrodden.

That's the God of the Bible whom we emulate and who reveals himself to us.

Ultimately, the person of Jesus. Keep reading and gets the full revelation of God, which is a demonstration of the sum of six excessive and certainly undeserved love like that. If the line of fire with your host Dr. Michael Brown got on the line of fire by calling 866-34-TRUTH here again is Dr. Michael Brown back in 19 time magazine all yeah front cover of Time magazine 1966.

Then I'm going to jump the time magazine 1971, then to the New York Times, 1997. Why is an outrageous op-ed piece posted published the New York Times in conjunction with Good Friday in the first day of Passover.

So this past Friday, written by former Orthodox Jew saying we should get rid of God, yeah, of got some edifying encouraging words about the for my article responding if you're just tuning in to ask Dr. Brown.org proceed as the lead article there all right out. Let's go to the phones and I want to start in Dayton, Ohio Glenn, are you listening by radio, sir.

I have the radio turned off and look them over my phone right now okay great appreciate that, but you are listening in the station we just been on for a few months in Dayton Ohio so shout out to everybody a great new stationary Dayton yeah, but through 106.5. Come on, man.

That's it. The truth 106.5. I love it. We would get to do a commercial forest negligent. Go ahead with your question.

Please. My father was a Baptist preacher over in Indiana for many years and he passed away about three or four years ago and I want to thank you also for everything that you do each day you have a very eloquent way of explaining things and as a preacher's son growing up in church my whole life have an worst on me for many years almost kind of legalistic and kind of coming back around the church with my family and and the wife and I very much appreciate the delicate way that you have of explaining things. I was convicted a lot lately by some of your messages and some of the others programs that are for almost 6.5, the truth, you're likely and I was doing some thinking. My father taught for many years. As to the other pastor with about that women place in the church and I want to melt your phone line. Now I don't mean to offend anyone. I just want to try to be as accurate and correct your as I can before my myself and the others that I'm currently also he taught that women were not to preach in the church they could teach over children they could teach over other women. It's referring to the Scripture believes in first Timothy 212 were always instructing Timothy and could you give me some clarification. Our church that were going through now does wonderful lot of outreach, but it didn't definitely caused me some concern.

I feel like things are getting to water down were so worried about luring people in the door were that were were not staying in some ways a person of this is one of those areas that I have a great concern. The path is narrow, not everyone is gonna make it so I worry if we start broadening the path too much to people other than losing sight of narrow path is God also. So could you give me a little clarification on you, and then claiming what a much broader oh yeah, and thanks for the kind words Glenn suggests superquick why did you understand your father's view that woman could teach other women to teach children but not men want. Why was that lives in the Scripture reference, but what was the reason why I did well. If my understanding. I believe it was explained in Timothy there as well and that Scripture that it it went all the way back to Eve in the way that she was deceived and through her. Her deception evidence analysis in others what women your minimal women more easily deceived.

Right would be the idea of rights and I have why have them teaching other women and why have been teaching impressionable children brought up a good question is very. Utilizing up enough for pickup or not to teach the women and children will have them teaching anyone and that Scripture actually there to be silent. Regular is that I don't mean to be offensive there with but not on though not all, but one I just want to point out is that the way it's often interpreted, it can't mean that because if it's okay for women to teach children who were not really can be able to think these issues through another women who presumably are not as educated and the word is the man space in the ancient world, write the ones they should be future.

The man, because the Medicus adds bogus throw it out. Where's the others will be led astray, so we do know that women are called to teach and train their children in the home. We do know that women are called to teach and train other women right and just look at this for second Roman 16 Roman 16 I commence your sister Phoebe, a servant of the church of country that you may welcome her and the Lord in a worthy way of the saints and help in whatever she may need from you for she's been a patron of million of myself greet Prisco and McCullough elsewhere.

Priscilla close noticed the woman's name comes before that the husband's name. This is the normal way the market goes both ways, but more commonly it's Priscilla first; my fellow workers in Christ Jesus who risked their necks for my life tend to not only give thanks for all the churches of the Gentiles. Give thanks as well. Agree also the church in her house. Greet my beloved, and he goes out of the names greet Mary who is worked hard from you agreed and track us and Ginny my kinsman of fellow prisoners.

There are well-known to the apostles there in Christ before me, a goes on and on. He greets woman after woman in this list here as is coworkers is to be honored to be received. As is well known among the apostolic leaders as in prison for their faith and we know the early church women were super active yesterday, I posted this someone sentence me and I posted it just to generate some interesting conversation on Facebook and I just did.

This will certainly stir some controversy. Then later I posted my own views, but I just it it it's it's a meme and it's meant to get attention. It's is in the interest of biblical accuracy. All the preach about the resurrection this Easter Sunday will be done by women because of course they were the ones that first believed. And when told the man he is risen and the men didn't believe it. Initially, so it's is playing on that. My understanding I see that Bonnie L. Yeah. And of course let's see it's God 1.6 thousand reactions and 318, so it people. People joined in my own understanding is the issue in first Timothy, it's being addressed is one of usurping authority over man take authority to sponsor them and teaching.

Accordingly, not that a woman cannot teach a man at all. In a free sample.

Acts 18. It's his Priscilla and Tukwila together in her name first taught Palos and again you've got these of the women who are highly esteemed. The call references in his letters and 11 first Corinthians 11 woman's losses in proper authority structure okay and can prophesy. So she speaking forth God's words and can pray this in public meetings of soul and then when Paul says hey what's the proper order for strengthens 14 when a song is a revelation where this interpretation is the tongue etc. so I see women as anointing called by God to do virtually everything that that man can do in the church, but they are not primarily called have governmental authority to God may raise up as an exception is Deborah, but the norm, and it's the norm in churches around the world, social, and the Norman governmental leaders around the world that the governmental authority is meant to be male, so you do have exceptions to the rule.

But even though I work with women who are senior pastors to preach for them and their anointed I don't believe that's the primary pattern, or the norm. And what would concern me was if the church did not have biblical conviction but was rather just trying to show how progressive they were that they gave women featured roles was to win the lost.

I don't imagine that's the case because in most of society.

That's not a debate you know most societies completely egalitarian in that regard. So I would just think that that they believe it's biblical and therefore they do it and as long as you have the senior leadership is male and things are done under that, then, to me that's that's a biblical order and woman preaching, teaching, ministering in a thousand different ways as their anointed wonderful and I think of this in the think of the books that have been written by godly women like Elizabeth Elliott over the years. We do not read them as men because it would be a woman teach humanity you can't read Corrie 10 boom to area figures a testimony. You can read it. But as she stares at teaching in the midst of it, you can't surely that that's that's not what the Scriptures is is telling us if there are other things the church stated that actually water down the gospel. That's a whole separate issue, but just to focus on this year meditate on Roman 16 specially server it and I think the be some some good insights that they come out of that in the process. Thank you very much for the call that Millicent, this is something friends of his throat divide over right don't divide over and I do understand arguments in different directions here and I'm not trying to cater to women or to cater to men trying to understand the word and please the Lord in the midst we may have differences here but not differences.

We divide over communal vector calls in a moment the first take you back to 1966, 1966 and and I want to look at this cover right not to bear in mind. Time magazine puts this out April 8, 1966 is just two days before Easter Sunday is once again a Good Friday right and and this is the question the front cover of time for the first time. Another picture it's always at a picture right picture than the caption this time.

No picture never did that before and time was really influential back then. For those that were can remember that right and this is it just says it's a black cover right time written white and then with red letters is God dead is God dead this was. Time magazine 1966 write two days before resurrection Sunday. Therefore, on Good Friday, and the article that the lead article said, yeah, may have been alive before and relevant to people but he's dead now. What did time publish five years later. Five years later in June 1971. This is the front cover of time it it's a red cover, the Jesus revolution is written white and there is a hippie like looking Jesus on the front cover and the lead article talks about the incredible wave of salvation's of hippies, radicals, rebels just like me that very year coming to faith five years after time magazine asked is God dead time magazine is proclaiming Jesus revolution. What do you know I give the line of fire with your host Dr. Michael Brown get on the line of fire by calling 866-34-TRUTH here again is Dr. Michael Brown sensitively with New York Times on April 15, which this year it was both Good Friday and that night the first day of Passover will issue Chris was interesting back in 1997, the New York Times had a front page article my front page of the religion section not front page of the op-ed section but front page of the New York Times it self. I'm looking at it and and and check this out this is this is may get the exact date may 27th 1997 and for those watching. We've got a picture. The front page will scroll down to show you the article.

It was called in Florida revival that came but didn't go as written by Rick Bragg. This is two years into the Brownsville revival, and it was favorable coverage Rick Bragg told evangelist Steve Hill as he stayed for the meetings and listen to the preaching he said the meeting is going to follow those going a flood of media coming out in your times covered it.

New York Times was much more influential back then as as well. And because he was positive on it it it caused some other media to not attack as aggressively as they might have Sosa listen listen to what he wrote.

So I'm expecting the next headlines and front-page stories in the years ahead. To be the stories what God is doing in America. The stories of the mercies pouring out the stories of the lives radically changing that a new type of a Jesus revolution of God moving powerfully throughout the nation as well. Looking for dislike. Time magazine 66 is is God dead in five years later, is proclaiming Jesus revolution so New York Times in 2022 says get rid of God, who knows when they'll be talk about what God is doing around America like they did 97.

So here's another article starts the first of them get here at dawn and wait all day facing the door by noon, the line outside the modern looking brown brick church stretches for city block pilgrims around the world sit or stand in the parking lot during heat's son girl expectation would be too hard if they were waiting for just a possible encounter with God. But this is the way that all the people line say because they know with absolute conviction that he got is just inside he's here suggested Jennifer most of the 20-year-old 21-year-old college student from California who like hundreds of thousands believes that she felt the hand of God the moment she stepped over the threshold with the Brownsville somebody of God. This is the place God's chosen to change many many lodges. Revivals come and go but what is been happening here night after night from his two years different. Start is a typical temporary revival on Father's Day 1995 has snowballed into what is probably the largest and longest running Pentecostal revival in America in almost a century, and it goes on from there.

Reading there. By the way, it didn't start as a co-typical revival started as a Sunday morning service with the guest speaker regatta started moving and they went on with extra services and those services went on a few more days in a few more weeks in a few more months ultimately for the better part of five years for five nights a week service running five or six hours a night.

People coming from over hundred 30 nations and I was there I was one of the leaders of called me into a one year into into the revival so was there when the New York Times reporter came about was there as he was interviewing Steve Hill and again perspectives on things that we remembered vividly in the midst of the schedule and that he heard the testimonies of laws being changed and to this day I run into people around the world literally around the world. The moment they see Dr. Brown, I was really in Pensacola got change my life and are so excited about sums is a break down crying. Not not with nostalgia that was so special about minarets since some some adjuster memories, all gobs year was so extraordinary, the oppressive coastal real, the repentance of deep. The encounter with his holiness, overwhelming the revolution was loves incredible. They remember back with many attorney of their been the same as 25 years later by the way, emotionalism doesn't do that can't do that emotionalism does not change your life for decades that followed emotionalism through temporary up in the room.

The down crash is worse in the devil doesn't do it on a conference everything he is counterfeit. People loving Jesus loving the word of God living holiness following the God of the Bible being active. Witnesses say doesn't do that. Otherwise, he would divide against himself, he would be destroying his own kingdom.

So I tell the truth whenever I see these things New York Times with this outrageous op-ed.

Time magazine some outrageous peace news with some outrageous fees. Always wonder what really can be reporting on the excellent God is moving in such undeniable ways.

That is can be very hard to demonize was doing because of the amount of people whose lives are being dramatically changed. Some of them waiting for another store like the revival story to make it to the front page of the New York Times or the front cover of Newsweek or time whatever mags, websites, influential places are out there yacht. I fully expected what I meant looking to the second mediated your work. If you haven't asked Dr. Brown.org but let's get back to the phones we go to Joseph in Alabama.

Thanks for calling the line of fire doing well thank you little background on the nerd partnered on the low remarried now and my figure but do pretty much doesn't just about divorce, but a good rate of organizing or look great were not thinking a lot or thousand well and I'm not looking for a reason or no living in adultery now right so I am Joseph understood the first, I commend you for your attitude. In other words, you want to do is right in God's sight and how painful and difficult it is so that that's the only posture we can have the servants of God we have to obey him the matter how difficult. Having said that, my understanding of Matthew five and Matthew 19 is that if a spouse has committed adultery and reconciliation is not possible, then you can divorce and remarry. The question is why does Jesus is translated into Greek use the word for fornication rather than adultery, and the general answer that would be given is that when they is much more widespread in its use of it it it it can refer to all types of sexual sin.

So for example if a let's say a woman had sex with another woman. A man's married woman has sex with another woman. It is that adultery is in her was that really adultery when the B adultery she had sex with a married man (they would cover all of that. Some have tried to argue that he was only speaking to the Jewish people because you could be betrothed before your marriage and if you were betrothed and years and the person or betrothed to silicates engagement beyond engaged so that person that you're committed to. They have sex with someone else will.

That's carnet a and now you can divorce them, and then you can go ahead and marry somebody else. I don't believe in the vast majority biblical scholars don't believe that Jesus was primarily speaking about that. Rather, the word is used to speak of sexual morality in a broader sense.

So my understanding Scripture also first Corinthians 7 repulses if you're married to an unbeliever and the unbeliever departs that you're not bound that he means legally bound, so let let's say you and your wife were not saved you got married you came to faith. You were born again and she says I want nothing to do with you or your God, and she abandons you and leaves the marriage that you would be free to remarry.

So my understanding Joseph is if adultery was involved that you did have grounds for divorce especially if you try to reconcile and that was not possible and and then from there you are free to remarry. That's how I understand the Scriptures, and I do not believe the argument that limits poor and they it to sexual sin committed by someone who is betrothed in our case it is engaged plus even more committed than engagement. I just encourage you to study the Scripture so that you are convicting yourself that you are sure yourself, you know, Mark and Luke don't mention the exception clause, but the fact it's a Matthew obviously means that it carries. Nonetheless, so I'd encourage you just to be sure before God I give you my view that says it is not adultery if there were valid grounds for divorce, but just be sure in your own heart that you're convinced that's what Scripture says that you can have peace in your relationship before God with your wife for friends list stand strong together.
