Kingdom pursuits where you hear from ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary fashion. Together, we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into the kingdom pursuits now live from the truth. Your host Robbie Gilmore. What a treat sweetly have today on kingdom pursuits, you're going to be our my goodness. We have a treat. First off, we have Calvary jail ministries we have Mike and Jackie and Brent and Dan are all in this here and I others in places near and dear in my heart for jail ministries as you know, there's some people that is really fertile soil, but also people that feel like they've been abandoned and abandoned by God and so many different ways and so how cool is it when God puts it on people's hearts to love the unlovable work in that arena and and to go places that they never probably thought they never got so welcome, Dan got a big event coming up. Yes we do. Thank you, Robbie, and now thank you to truth radio network having us and hosting us here today on your program. Calvary jail ministries in them along here with Mike and Jackie and Brent, who is chairman of the board and we really think truth that you and you are having us today and yes we pray that this program will be something that'll open the hearts and the consciousness in the minds of all of us that love Jesus Christ, but more so, we love souls and that's what Calvary jail ministry is truly all about. It's about reaching out those that are lost and to so that wonderful seed. I just heard that Jackie was just commenting that the new statute that they're putting in place of the Billy Graham in Charlotte and it shows him sowing seeds how exciting that is. I haven't seen it, but I hope to see very soon because that's what we do we we so seeds just like Billy used to do to bring home the message of love to bring home the message of hope to those that at the moment are suffering at the moment they're so lonely at the moment they are going through extremely difficult time in their lives and these are the inmates. Inmates that are in our institutions in our jails. Let it be in the county jail.

Let it be in a prison. These are souls and Christ also died for not just our sins but their sins to and we are just so privileged that our Lord has called us Robbie to do this work for his kingdom. How wonderful that the name of your program, how beautiful it is at an end and that's what it's all about and and Calvary jail ministries adjust so that the those that are listening to it and get a better idea. We this ministry has existed for over 40 years, Robert Watson.

We were hoping you would be here with us today member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. He's one of the founders of not the founder of Calvary jail ministries and it has been his passion for all these years, it has been his love and we are privileged we are. We are really so honored to be called by God to fulfill this calling this ministry to reach these souls that are hurting and that is so lonely Robbie have to tell you and and and everyone that's listening. We forget those that are in in our institutions that are that are in jail.

That's I go there every day. Robbie every day and we all do most of us go on a daily basis and it is such a place where you you can see the sorrow in their eyes of loneliness of really for the most part abandoned many times by their own families. As with all but speaking of selling seats that we got other seeds to so today we got Shelley knees was the author of the copper scroll project and it is an ancient secret that fuels the battle for the temple mount welcome Shelley program. I have a little connection to galvanic my am not there weekly Bible study at jail and Louisiana now say that every week whenever I call in trying to catch her and my dad in. His favorite joke is on your mom right now she's in jail yet that the copper scroll project is a book about an archaeological quest that decade-long class and a man named Ken Garfield, a retired arson investigator from Oklahoma you the copper scroll, which is one of the Dead Sea Scrolls and excludes from the copper scroll the copper scroll really at 2000-year-old treasure map that connects to the last treasures of the treatment temple I know anything down crazy.

But it's all very real and true, and really even college degree that the copper scroll connected to the treatment temple treasures we did. Don't know how confinement but that command them. Garfield of Hyperion that covers from belief that he come up with an ex parte practical solution. This is shelf. This is really cool. Well our listeners know that I have to do my little sis speaking of books, I the library know what to do with the book about Tesla's love of electricity so he filed an undercurrent of fear and you know bookkeepers really problem so I think bookkeepers are a problem.

I did a borrow brick from library once in a while. Try not to overdo it right not limit overdo it yet because library, please still have to book anyway while at the library. You can pick up a book on teleportation right now my get you somewhere. Brent, you got this this this this is the only chance you get the laughter. No.

So after all the shenanigans you not actually have a riddle which you could win today switch book in the Bible's theme song might be of the lion sleeps tonight which I think of me to think about that which book in the Bible's theme song might be.

The lion sleeps tonight if you know the answer to that line with you.

I Jasper we don't want to take away somebody's right to win a book. So tell them what their women know when a book from the all you have to do is call in at 866487884 which book the Bible theme song might be the line not saying that what was said was right and wrong. Oh, I'm just now. Now there is an answer out there with his amendment. We would love for you to call it 866-34-TRUTH 87884 until switch book in the Bible theme song might lion sleeps tonight. So what we have not yet told you which is very exciting. Gary Chapman, Dr. Gary Chapman is one of the gifts that God has given us here in this is the author of the five love languages. If you've never heard him speak, you would be in for a real treat to God. Basic yes he is going to be a Calvary Baptist Church on October 25 at 6 PM. So what's going on today is if you go to King & suck on your to see this event and all its need to do to go get registered. Tickets are $35 and that is correct $35 of the proceeds are obviously yes, Dr. Chapman's not asking for a huge honorarium. The idea of the $35 tickets is you can help support magistrate thought that are incarcerated in. I think you know it's it's it's really, I can't tell you how many people I've had on the show years that have been incarcerated and then to see how God has turned their life around. As we talked about the Christian partnership. They now are building the family name right there sons of God, and there out there building the family name and so you need to.

I hope I hope you'll take a look at King to proceed find out about this event were to find out more about these copper the conference call. I'm very excited about this and more from the Calvary jail ministry. These guys each have a story to tell about something… They should that you got to hear Jim since you mentioned the lion sleeps tonight jail ministry with the Calvary jail ministries talk about the evening with Dr. Chapman that's coming up October 25. It's going to be at Calvary Baptist Church which is on country club@salemandthekingdomproceeds.com and get your tickets $35 apiece and I know that you will be blessed, way more than that. $35, not to mention that your investing in the kingdom. As you hear through the testimonies of these folks we also have with the Shelley knees and she is the author of the carp copper scroll project in ancient secret that fuels the battle for the temple mount because you can imagine the battle if they think there's treasure you know there's a lot of folks out there trying to find treasure, but I'm guessing the treasure that that that Shelley is knows about is a treasure that's a bit deeper then than the other physical treasure right Shelley, I think we all connected by learning the story that locate Eric treasure Hunter going, but ultimately a goal for first entry. Both are combined for all the things that really rabbinic Judaism as we know it today. In Christianity that led out with the credo that they were born and tell the story about the Bible is not. I think people are really familiar with the Truth Network notes on by Stu Epperson Junior and Jefferson Junior is the sun is you might be shocked if Stu Epperson seen and you know in the beginning of Proverbs.

There's your Solomon asked that you would search first for wisdom like you would search for Silver surfer goal. Well, thanks to his we call and told me one time about how his family has decided there was gold in them are hills.

In Virginia, where they lived and they started digging this gold in every male you know that was of the clan had his time to go and dig and dig and dig and dig and and you never see me the you know whatever it is a treasure.

Thanks that you're talking about Shelley.

He said one day, I thought about that and realized if we would dig into the word of God the way that they my families to dig up for a couple what a treasure. There really is about the main thing that day. Here, about 90 feet and then not more knowledge more information. Market data, but the main thing people reported that it gets them out.

I think anytime we just take a little deeper, rhetorical foundation of the Bible when it connected the archaeology grown that proof that we have that the Bible is a reliable document. I think it did give people hope it starts out you know I am at times, but I have no idea about the copper scroll is it actually copper it only largest metal document from antiquity ever found that yet this man solid alloyed with the higher percent pure copper which you can imagine how hard it was on copper copper with an extensive not any back then. So even just the difficulty level and the obviously pending an even better choice than the copper for this growth. None of the other copper and iron left with contained inside and it was very important because I would imagine it would be preserved phenomenally set metal to think the Statue of Liberty green 15 and that we can effectively read ethics a preservative and a protectorate, not breaking it down, protecting it copper with great joy in the last 2000 years in a cave, you can't help but think that was God's idea, just say look at Isaiah store and bought a book to preserve right free and you know the Jews that's of precious books. Isaiah 61 six my work, and now they're taking exactly the now wow we have clays in Raleigh and Clay.

I understand you not coming in from Robert Gubler when the lion sleeps tonight.

Okay, we had enough. Well, you know, but here's my thing. I'm bored what somebody else okay you know what somebody get a kick out of all netbook devotional with somebody else about it because you know that the theme song lion sleeps tonight know what you got something for some jail ministry yeah well you know what. Several years ago I was basically no involved in certain situations. This is more important than that, I'm not holding about that. You know, several years ago I made about driving several times and it ended up costing me 120 day though I have 20 days. Wake County and the thing for me. I'm thinking that you spent 120 days in jail hundred 20 day hundred 20 days because I violated probation and I learned my lesson that I'm not supposed to be doing something like that and it taught me not you know think I'm above the wall. So therefore you know I got to meet people in the Gideon came and preached to me about being learning about that stuff and I was taught that I needed to be in place for the Lord lead me to be and therefore made me start my Christian walk because I did not want to be doing. Are you serious you always you and now the Gideons got a hold of you when you're in jail. They came and reached out to the Gideons. It was Jesus, but he was coming in the form of that's phenomenal and somewhat low country church outing go good Hope Baptist Church of the country. That's where I learned at first come about this. I have so many store that I can sure about that but the thing that not many people from that church anybody from the church and the go like the first month in and somebody came and said that there were some people that would like to talk to you.

Anybody that would like to talk to and it was a couple people from the Gideon gave me that little bottle that you read and is interesting because I was telling them what you know I've had nobody come and visit me. You know what the Lord is good, good. To achieve just don't know how it's going to happen and started to think about that and you know what that touched my heart because that Beverly you know I was there in that capacity for that much determined how brother in Christ who didn't know what happened. Officer Johnson, can you check only you know what you're going to be all right. You know you're here for a reason to be gone soon.

It was just amazing to me now and 20 day that started is a short period of time compared friends I have Clay.

I'm glad you called today. God bless you, and I'm anxious to just explore this later. You got some explaining to do… Alright thanks Clay, my goodness. Well, I wanted Mike is the chairman of the board with the jail ministries yeah and you're pointing at me like you like that this grant is the chairman of the board of there you go shows what I know I told you about earlier that I have this problem with but anyway Brent I'm wondering you know is there been something that happened while you were there in the jail ministry that you dislike okay God. This is why you have me Raleigh absolutely said that the first thing I'll say is that in Scripture you hear Jesus many times say he who has ears to hear, let him hear what we find is that often times these incarcerated men and women are in a place where they had ears to finally be able to hear there in a place today recognize that they try to live life their way. It clearly hasn't worked out how they wanted. Or they wouldn't be in the place.

So and all that each of us as part of the ministry have stories out here real quick testimony on part of the ministry team for sending every monitoring the Forsyth County detention Center leading a worship service at Internet time. We have prayer time and we will have 10 to 15 volunteers who are praying with the inmates and we care about their physical needs that we care most about their spiritual needs that we always want to get straight to the point asking have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ and you have peace that your sins are forgiven. So as a young man his question with tears in his eyes. He said no. I asked him a follow-up to that.

Okay, it's a cliffhanger going to Walmart so we got some more kingdom pursuits we might find out who wrote the book whose theme song is aligned because 866-34-TRUTH 8784. Find out more about the roles Shelley needs.

She is the author of the copper scroll project.

God is given her a passion for antiquity think she's the reader's her history. You know the thesis in college and all that she's had this passion for a while. It's really cool to see how God is use that and continue to use it for his glory and some exciting hear more about the copper project, but also we have witnessed Calvary jail ministries and their evening with Dr. Chapman that is coming up. He's the author of the five love languages and he's going to be at Calvary 6 PM on October 25 at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and Eric didn't want Newt to see what it gift it would be to have you be part of the audience there and sharing what God's doing their and and one of the things is just a prayer that will be involved that night to further this ministry and you don't know the generation that God will reach through the people that come to Christ through JI mean I guy. I've heard the stories enough to know and so one of those stories where in the middle of one right before the break is Brent and I find is the chairman of the board he was sharing how you are at the Forsyth jail and a young man was there crying and obviously you saw out yet.

Thank you. Robbie said again at the end of each service we have time for prayer with the inmates. This young man with tears in his eyes acknowledge that he had never placed his faith in Christ. My follow-up question to him was what what is preventing you doing today and he answered of one word profoundly simple yet profoundly honest answer and that answer was. He said the word me.

He acknowledged he said I am the reason I'm on what's holding myself back from accepting this free gift of God so my last question too much are you prepared to do that now. He said yes and those sweet moments and followed the Holy Spirit of God led him to the throne of grace and and uses words carefully because we know it, Calvary jail ministries. It is not us as individuals and ultimately leave these people to Christ. It is the Holy Spirit of God, and we are simply privileged to be a part of the work he's doing, and when all who attend our dinner.

Never having we want people not only learn about the ministry but to learn how every single person every single listener can be a part of the ministry said those who come will tell you how everybody can be a part of what God is doing through so awesome and I Shelley I would love to know a little bit about how you originally came I read in your bio that you you know it is like I put this on your heart. Early on, could you share the story how that happened so well actually to meet after we're married graduate school there very immediately. You know, you're either getting together good together · 2012 piece negotiations are going on at the time when we left radio. By the time we got the second intifada started out for the next four years. On the street that suicide bombings and really really for dangerous and dark. Trade drilling so I couldn't learn enough learn enough about Jewish history about Israel's more modern secular history about the Bible and how that connected in tethered to let everything happening around me and for that passion began by just like all of our lives. Any I'm sure I'm sort Calvary everyone on this program can tell you how guy got them and their particular tangent and life, and in particular areas ministry that on the I met this man named Jim Barfield while I was doing Israel advocacy or an organization here in Washington DC and you know Jim Barfield and he exudes everything that you and then from an Oklahoma man by Victorville quite competent and that he believed me off the copper scroll not in a way that God told him exactly where these treasures were buried are exactly how it happened by that in a way that you did need people in the world. And once they get it right there in a following through and not let go. And though I've been thoroughly overlapped document a documenting that question being how how archaeology can be a weapon for truth which I think is really important because sometimes you have to shake people at the root and show them that if the Bible is being attacked and it cannot be defended in archaeology a really wonderful lady that speaking is shaking people with the routes I really wanted to get Shannon sent me sit which was that when someone's incarcerated is not just then that suffering.

There's a lot of people that are connected, that that's also fertile place that God's work absolutely. Many people don't think about that just about almost every family has had an experience of someone in their family being incarcerated and it also hurts the families very much they go through the pain. Also, and suffering.

So we also minister to the families of the inmates we reach out to them when possible.

Whenever we can contact them when we have the opportunity we get the opportunity to meet them. We pray with them and we support them. The best way we can and Jackie are shaking your head if you have that yet. Just a few weeks ago and inmate got released in the next night she called me and asked me to go to the hospice with her to see her grandmother was dying and she said some really awful things to her grandmother and she really was really feeling sorry but she was afraid to go by herself so she asked me to go to hospice with so tell me about your relationship with her before she Relates well. She said to me she says you know I finally found out that God still love me he could still love me and I can still be a part of that that was really important for her because she thought she was at a point in her life forgot it abandoned her and so she recommitted her she was a believer before, but she recommitted her life to God. At that point and so she was she would choose a drug addict and so she struggling our sobriety.

But I understand she's doing pretty well so far but she really was feeling guilty for some of think she is sensitive.

Can you take us into that room with her grandma. We went into the room and her grandmother was largely incoherent, but she could still hear and so I prayed with the family and she apologized to her grandmother and just was really comforting and unloved on her grandmother and it was the last time she ever saw her grandmother live so it was a really meaningful time for her but it's true.

The families suffer just as much of the inmates doing so this was a healing time for that family because everybody in the family was manifest in me because what she said what she had done and she was confessing her sin and asking forgiveness of the family so was a healing time so they were losing the grandmother the mother but the family was coming back together. That place is shattered dreams.

You know why I have a friend that's been incarcerated for a long time and his dad. You know he had all these plans for us on he was in seminary. You know he is going to be a ministry to be all these things and can you match that place and then the questions you have for God like no like I raised him to be this I took in the church. I know paid for seminary.

EEE can imagine all those things and and and similarly it's the Valley of humiliation. If you've ever thought about that with John Bunyan use the term and I just find it brilliant that up there the top of the mountain.

You know the soil good soils always come down when it rains right and so if if you if you drive around in the Valley of Colorado somewhere and you'll see how green, how rich that soil is it is because it's come down off the mountain and and that soil you can you can dig some really big roots and Mike. We haven't heard your story yet, so here's your moment in the sun. Well, been involved or about 11 1/2 years and and I remember the first time that that I went there that inmates have a little bit different attitude when they start out they first wonder why you're there and actually determine if someone has the heart really minister to them. So it's they can usually tell when somebody is just doing their time and when somebody is actually involved in it for the right reason. Couple of things that I could that come to mind is what we go once a week to the Davie County facility and we hold Bible study and we always give an invitation when you're finished with the Bible study and we have over the years I've actually crossed paths with some of the people that we've done Bible studies with given invitations to also have discipled and they've actually in circumstances have indicated that they were thankful that we were there ministering to them. We also know there were several items several circumstances where we run into that probably doesn't run into that that the neatest thing I can remember is that we were doing Bible study, 19 where talk about Romans 10, nine and 10 and I said talking to a group of guys there. I said you know there has to be a time in your life when this this is happened got it was sitting next to me. He raised his hand and he said right now I need to make that decision right now the moment of truth that is on the Truth Network to say so I am shocked that nobody is called in the tellers with things on my lines tonight to do that others barely just don't know yet. The answer 348-7884 is a much more poster children for that again our shows so we been so blessed to have with us showing these. She's the author of the copper scroll project ancient secrets that are fueling the battle for the Temple Mount book. That is, we been hearing about that would hear more about it a minute and the Calvary jail ministries and their promoting their evening with Dr. Chapman is the author of the five love languages.

It's coming up October 25 at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. But getting back to Shelley what I you had mentioned that your book is like a treasure hunt and going after that in all of us that were looking for treasure without spilling your candy what's a treasure that you think is inside that well the way the copper scroll read. There's a reason why you probably heard it before, and because it happened in one of the most destructive. It really had no literary value telling a story not connected in a lot of both are either actual Depakote books are Bible commentary or give us some idea of how first entry Q3 living by the conference call does not have that inventory list and expect all inventories and left her boring, but it reads like a verbal treasure map.

I mean, it had 12 column L for 7 feet long, but light it broken few in antiquity when they were rolling it up and hiding it by the I don't want to bore you with how it reads but it sounds like in market courtyard are under the steps going 40 ft.³ or in the Paris style in the round be a very thick architectural detail about where this treasure is heading in the amount of treasure. It lifted Copia thinking it would be the equivalent today hundred kinds of gold and velvet really really large amount which we know only the Temple treasury would have been able to even flirt with. Come close to that amount of gold and silver type are mandatory for it, higher Jewish Diaspora toward the temple back when the title is made with sacred for upkeep of the Temple and felt we have lots of historical account and some idea that sometimes the treasury would get overloaded. Not to mention all of that Apple furniture you know the ark of tenant that April and then yet spoke. We know all of that was made with precious metal until copper scroll doesn't really specify any Temple furniture, the whole thing reads in all of the treasures lifted read the word like sanctified, or coleader dedicated very directly will say that the only thing that we know came directly from the temple or ritual… The language though. I think most scholars agree or not. I think I know that it was connected to the temple. The real question and did the Roman take it that you know where where along the way that be great. Get out or did that by now we have binding the Dead Sea called after 2000 years no one would've thought that that was possible.

There is a lot of debate that about first came out that they can we be as old as baked beans could be because there's no way they can derive that the rabbit did not and background before and that thousand year period without we know things like, I'm not saying that the covenant in bareback on a box of acacia wood buried in the stand that negative better it would last tooth out I can well again. The book is the copper scroll project in ancient secrets that fuels the battle of the Temple Mount. You can see if Eric can go on Amazon Kindle, it is only seven bucks. I saw that it's good to deal and didn't find all that information out.

Thank you Shelley that that's really amazing. We just have walk into our studio Robert Watson who is actually from what I understand one of the founders of the Calvary jail ministry welcome Robert good morning. I was so good to have you and so I'm curious in the early days. Can you share with us what you saw God doing that actually started the minute ministry will not court stock.

Marquart started in evangelism program teaching many women how to share the faith in Jesus chair life. Who can forget that right burger that I can remember certain light, but we had in his hundred people out visiting church grew exponentially all that word, and that's what the church will do. Now if we sure the work and so that's a basecoat from that. We had a number of those same volunteers that would go down to the county to the jail oversight jail, held about three hand picked inmate is not a condition inmate cursing and howling and we would go and then we would cover the whole jail and have maps and you the person in the Sam and about the time that we finished let loose Sunday afternoons. There was patient plot.

There was no cursing to past records everything. I don't call he ever went with just curious because you know when he came in the room and all of a sudden let TCU know what I'm saying he was a remarkable grace filled man somebody in his presence was on. It was those things.

It's like omicron is his philosophy was he not be church's witness train the servants of Christ to be witnesses and this is like a workplace. He spent all that time training and have shared. Talk about a man that was trained right the one that wrote the book that the theme song would be the line I didn't write it written about in the lion sleeps tonight.

George this same song would be the lion sleeps tonight which book you are exactly right. Shelley did get a better way to you. You had it all the time you can imagine all you know as go toward. Thank you so much I appreciate your call and ensure that I didn't ministry this is my first guess and I'll talk about inmate. Never call those your guest this.

You are thank you George yes we are Calvary jail ministries Salem and we serving three jails in Forsyth County Davie County in Davidson County. God bless you for this wonderful to hear that you're serving the Lord doing all the work Gerard need me. I would very much call.

We also have one minister and he did kinda pointed out that United visiting jails is a real blessing that you visiting Christ himself. When you go there and like you say only by the grace of God delighted that we wouldn't went there and got something all of us to get us to the point where we can see Robbie gone on those lines sweetly and when the time is running and we want to invite everyone to be part of Jail ministries to be part of this. Not everyone is called to go in to the jails, but I'm sure that everyone can participate in some way. So please make sure that you get on Robbie's website here in this pursuit. Or you can visit county jail.org and find out more about the upcoming event the 25th you know that Dr. Gary Chapman is going to speak about unconditional love. Think about that on my shingles. Not all them at like five I'm sorry, George, like "anyone volunteered to come into the jail burden myself personally administered to me. My thoughts were asked to be loving me, because yes they come in and inmate you love all we have not know you must love me because this person come visit me. It just calls me to believe that God, thank you and appreciate it.

Thank you, thank you for that, tears rolling down courageous for you to call George and share that level and I know a lot of people are blessed with your courage to share and I like to just and all. Thank you God bless you George.

Keep up the great work. Will Shelley wow it's been so much fun. You didn't have a radio show that talked about jail and the copper scroll those same time sitting here thinking everyone there actually tethered together in Bible is what Dragon is all each our own individual pursuit. But the Bible is where it's rooted in the hope that we know so I think these two topics thanks include I get to see it every week.

Shelley is whatever I end up with on my show.

There always tethered same place in Christ love what he's done with the passion cities given amazing people and then they been obediently courageous to follow that because I know that had been easy for you guys. Thank you for being with us today. Shelley God bless you and your book again.

Copper scroll project in the course Calvary jail ministries go to Calvary jail ministry.org have a jump go to get some, after the journey starts here now at 12 o'clock followed by disciple magazine so much truth. Truth
