Pursuits where you hear from ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary fashion. Together, we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into the kingdom pursuits now live from the truth. Your host Robbie Gilmore. What an adventure today we have a first time guest Miriam Stanley with tribe Baptist Church because God is enough. From what I understand, I've been told of you are that same summer, but they're so sure that a triad Baptist that they brought Kay Arthur yes we are very sure that God is enough. She's coming on March 16.

How cool is that. That's a Saturday, March 16. I guess it's only two Saturdays from now. Okay Arthur is coming to triad Baptist Church which is in Kernersville, North Carolina.

She can be there early like at 730 understand the doors open its doors open and her son David will also be with her cow and Miriam. Stanley is here with triad and from what I understand, Miriam told me she is related to Charles Stanley, but it's probably distantly made me like no others but also on today with me a very good friend, but many time. Many times you been on kingdom pursuits Sam but a lot of times anytime got a boot camp coming.

We like to let people know that while here we got an opportunity really I can't even begin to lay out Sam what this could mean to somebody's walk of faith to attend this but yeah it's it's indescribable what God does. Each and every time that were there to try to out guess God is something we were not to do this will this last boot camp to have somebody to come and accept Christ and get baptized in that water that I probably would've gotten that you did have God's Holy Spirit is up to their knees. At least further flies in mind. I mean that's how far they went down in the mud when they went to do this but the thing that was beautiful. All that but what was even more beautiful for me Sam I know it has been for you is to watch Corey's walk of faith. I mean, he was out there trying to find the Scriptures connecting again with people in his family in our study in the word of God, seeing things that you know just for lighten up his world and share anything for me it was really cool because I work with you every day will not everyday but I work with him at my secular job and have been training with him before he went to boot camp and just kind of see how his demeanor was see how he carried himself how his outlook on life was to see him come back and just be totally totally different person and just walking with life every day.

He has just been really cool to see that and to see it grow so you know it's kingdom pursuits so speaking of spring like spring, spring is like teaching your slinky new spring training that so this understand the best floor exercise and wonder where they come from. I understand floor exercise gymnast come from Palm Springs.

That's outstanding unit in the course of my all-time favorite Humpty Dumpty had a great fall but he had a pretty good spring and summer to just to show you that I equal spring jokester and singing at the end of all the shenanigans actually whatever riddle and my riddle today is which thirsty lady in the Bible had an angel put a spring in her step on the way to ensure for sure.

I like that that's pretty cool.

Riddle – think Rachel which thirsty lady in the Bible had a angel put a spring in her step on the way to assure for sure 866-34-TRUTH 87884.

This little tough one but it's good to be worth it because it's got a huge prize 866-34-TRUTH 87884 and if they can answer that riddle. Rachel tell them what all they're gonna win. It's huge.

Could be the biggest prize of all options in a sailing box as well as weak force tickets also are masculine during radio spring camp 300 990 $999 value.

It starts Thursday, March 21 21st come up just a couple weeks right after the okay Arthur and that's going to go through the 24th and that includes room and board and just time with God that you probably infected never met anybody that didn't think that oh my goodness where the stuff happens to describe what becomes of that just the relaxation of actually getting away for those guys it can get there intended to shut down and unplug your phone. See the difference between Thursday and Sunday afternoons. Amazing just to see when they get that quiet time with God not always able to do right and this can be this year at Atlanta Bible camp in Davie County, North Carolina, which you know it's near Marksville. If you know it's right on Interstate 40. Not hard to get to it all and it's all available.

All you have to do is call in and tell us which thirsty lady in the Bible had a angel put a spring in her step on the way to sure for sure, 866-348-7884 so Miriam, I am looking at your Bible here. It's got multiple color highlights and I'm thinking this is a Kay Arthur disciple right answer. Tell us what character means to you mouth several years. The guy I was privileged to get to the bet that she wrote Lord, teach me to stay the night on 28 days later church taught that and when I went through it I realized that even tell I was grateful I've been raised in a Christian home. My father taught me holiness of God. My mother taught me the faithfulness of God that I had gone to Christian college.

Christian schools and no one had ever sat in taught me how to study the word.

I read the word of God. My mother and father with great Bible students and down just by looking at their lives. I saw that the word of God was important.

So I would read the Bible through from front to cover front cover to back and the Lord spoke to my heart showed me things but when I actually found out what it was like to slow down my life and steady the word of God. It just fell in love with the Lord all over again. And that's only way to describe it. I just long to read his word and find out about him and it was through the inductive Bible study. Okay. Arthur and her husband Jack had passed away and went to live in heaven last year they started precept ministries probably 40 years and is through that Bible study that I learned how to study the word of God. And so, how cool is that you now get to see her in person I met her for the first time at Piedmont international University. I believe it was last year.

She was the commencement speaker and I was. I walked up was just passing her and when eyes met her she she stood there watching Brad has literally changed my relationship with Christ and I had some speakers don't like to speak before they go up on stage. They like Space around them so I didn't say anything to her and she glanced over and saw me just standing there and she said would you like to speak to you and she just walked over to me grab my hand slipped me right in the congested there like she had nothing else to do but speak to me and it was amazing. So I'm thrilled this is just an answer to prayer. My pastor's wife. Tina feels that exact same way about that studying the word of God and she learned to the Kay Arthur ministries house. She studies inductively, so we just we just can't wait. We are just rail that were paid during this song today show not only to find out who had a spring in their step for sure, but trust will find out more from Miriam on how to study the Bible inductively to find out why.

What is it about a boot camp like similar to the Kay Arthur experience, you know.

Undoubtedly, Sam and I both like our relationship with Christ change radically. As a result of this event. It wasn't something that you listed one and done it's a matter of you know, learning something about how to connect with God that you don't lose it continually happens you know that the relationship dynamic continually changes with units as part of the present is is really that which I would say for those who attend for it blows my mind many times I've been through the process how every time he's got something fresh and since I'm shot 866-34-TRUTH 878 and uses it to build the kingdom and we can tell, I'm sure you can. Miriam has a passion for this way to study the Bible she learned from Kay Arthur who is coming to try Baptist Church in Kernersville, North Carolina, Saturday, March 6.

Pete you can go right now the kingdom pursuit story go to try Baptist website anyone and didn't go to I tickets and register for that event pretty easy or you may want to go to mass concerning radio boot camp and you know man that you think would be benefit from going there. We would love to hear about that.

You can call me email me anything. We would love to get into that harrowing do it master journey radio spring boot camp, March 21. Of the 24th it to is it kingdom pursuit.com we have Martin, who is in Raleigh and Martin. Do you know which lady in the Bible had a was thirsty and had a angel put a spring in her step on the way to sure for sure that Hagar did your exactly right. And that that's just your sure about that. Well, what gave it away. Martin is on your door and she was really thirsty. That's really fascinating story – think, oh yeah, you great provided there's the whole bow shop for those of us who are bow hunters you know I always like the bow shot. In other that the boy was away and then there's the water in and it's just it's it's fascinating and and you would've thought that the Bible is going to be this clean, easy you know what's the eldest guy gets his made pregnant and then sends her away and she has to go have that you know the whole thing is just it's wild. How God, you know the Lord and have what he wanted.

I have a caretaker after their no doubt Miriam's face not Miriam Miriam's in the draws from last you know how cold actually seen Angel so thank you so much, Martin, God bless you and Emma put on hold to get your information to get to those prizes.

Whatever you would like to work and hope to me to the boot camp to say it and we got married I we got Diana's in Winston-Salem. She has an answer for his diameter you had Hagar to actually the phone is all lit up. We had about five did we. Sam that were I would not been one of those. I couldn't now I remember it, but it just didn't have it was okay okay so getting back to you know this is really fascinating thing to me when you like it you started. To start you been studying the Bible on your father's came from Canada down here so he could study at Piedmont right that's cracked and so you can imagine that she's been in the Bible. Her whole life and she's very familiar with and then all of a sudden she starts reading precepts and attending this thing what what happened that you just went oh my goodness what what what was it that woke you up well with the simple questions that you need to ask is your reading through the word of God and I would read the word of God, but I was not connecting it like Old Testament to New Testament or that context around versus semi times Christians will pull a verse out of Scripture and they make it fit what they wanted to say when it's not even in context of what the Scriptures sign such as asking the it's it's you interpret it as you go along your observer and gives you questions that you should add every yet as your reading you're going to be asking why when what, how, where, ask these questions what is going on is your reading it.

So you're looking into the history of it and thinking how the culture thought back to an end that the third step would be in your application. Of course, how can I use this in my own life.

What's God showing me that I've learned from his word that I can apply to my life today and it just became more real when it became a real is my relationship with Christ and how he is in every detail of my life. God's God just gave that to me at a time in my life I needed it. Things have happened in my life and when they happened to already be in the word of God knows who God is, is if you don't hit God is when something horrific comes into your life. I can give you a quick example last August 10. We found out that my youngest grandson price has stage IV cancer.

He's three years old. If God does not perform a miracle than he, he will not survive is if you get a very low chance of survival with this cancer and I told his nice daughter-in-law's father as we were leaving I did not know his God was. I would be angry but because I know God is loving, kind, true, just because I know his character, and I know that it is his Providence that before the foundations of the earth or sat. This was going to happen.

That's only get that when you get in the word of God. God gave us this Scripture for a reason.

One.

Kay Arthur's famous sayings is, she held survival if she has how many bits of the Bible are there 66.

How many do you think God wants you deny 66 and we we need and we have to know the word of God in order to know who he is in his character, and that is what gets us through our life. That's a fascinating thing Sam that when she brought out and of the questions that you know the word disciple my determination. This means an enthusiastic learner and so you know without questions you know you can't learn anything if you're not trying to figure some out what you gonna learn because you phone you got a glass that's full and you may know that Morgan was came to know John Eldridge is you known John Eldridge being the founder of ransom part which is how the camps came in the example no he came to John one day and he said I want to be your disciple anything to John because he could see the got John had a understanding of the word of God, and those kind of things he wanted to have that kind of fire in his belly and John said okay. What's your question, I remarry lies therein the beauty of discipleship so often is is having that question to take to God and that to me is so much of what you know is is an opportunity for an event like a boot camp to figure out what is your question yes I think the sooner the goods that it's what are your questions, you know each boot camp a little bit different. You know you may have one question of one boot camp and God were was at that time in my life that I got taken out, you worded this this particular thing get a foothold for me that maybe one boot camps question God decides to work on.

You know may be delays a vision for you what he sees for you in the future you know that I want to go start this ministry. I want you to go do this they may just be. Just chooses to love on you the whole time. You known all you continue to hear from them is a man I love you, you know, because he knows it's what your heart needs and so those questions are kinda cold or to discover those with God as you there because I went to boot camp. My second boot camp out in my first one I went not even know I could hear from God. I was raised in a doctrine that really didn't let you truly believe that you can hear from God only people in the Bible could, you know. And so it's a whole book of examples versus book of exceptions, you know, and so the first time as I heard from God. Just a few things so it's the second time I had a whole book of questions for you Gov. talk about these things and and God was quiet until Sunday morning because he wanted to talk to me about something else and I was trying to drive the boat you know when I finally tended to said okay got a guy give up what you want to tell me all he told me was I love you and I broke down in tears because that's what I needed to hear. That's where I was at my life and that's why I needed the most.

You know, and so it's kind of really cool to see where God's going to take you because invariably it someplace you desperately need to be right so you know the neat thing is that it's amazing you know there's a line I guess in this or a movie that says you know when the student is ready, the master will appear. Well, you know clearly Kay Arthur came into your life at a point you know to where you could begin to fathom the Bible and those kind of things and in the boot camps come in and know for me.

Interestingly, I was a car salesman.

All I was interested in was selling cars and anybody knows of the Christian card I got. That's what Robbie was interested in well. I pick up a book typeset by Norman Vincent Peel. This is useful to get up an hour early and study the Bible every morning it seemed insane to me, but I want to sell cars so this is where he met me right. But he said one little thing that changed everything you said before you go try to study this thing you need to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you, because without that you don't stand a chance and what you said earlier Miriam is is that one of the things that Kay Arthur teaches and is absently instrumental is asking the spirit to come in and guide you in in your studies so you've been working on that and now you're your in the Psalms. I just got to Psalms yes just that sounds outstanding for to take me two and half years to get from Genesis to Psalms and I just when I get probably around Samuel. I start I can't stand it as in-depth. I'll be in the Bible can 20 years before I get through it so that he read a little bit faster because it's just it's just intriguing to hear what God allowed what he put in place how he brought his people through things and and the same God did what he did for Israel.

He does it for us and we are now indwelt by the Holy Spirit. So we did what he wants to learn today and that I want to speak that we come back because the spirits very much involved in what we where we don't and you know if we get into studying the Bible just wrote because that's supposed to do today, you can end up in a bad place. We come back more from Kay Arthur and Mark passion for her Bible and what Europe through talk to her and Kay Arthur is coming because God is enough of Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville on Saturday, March 16, and a week later, while not quite a week later boot camp starts on March 21-24 master journey radio spring boot camp is is coming to Carolina Bible camp at the master journey.

Radio teams can be there and you may have been to several of them, but I'll bet you anything you've never heard Jim Graham give the beauty talk sees can be given that it said like you say it's different every time.

And I guarantee you, even if you done the same talk.

How many times I've done the poser talked for some reason I always get that salmonella with the you know it's interesting, is that even if you're doing a talk that you've done before. It is a different because you're you're in a different place in a different place relationship with God or different season of your life. You probably need different place with your relationships because things continually change it and so you're not coming from the same exact point of reference that we've done something like 20 boot camps now. I don't know, probably over that maybe I've been to several before that, but none of the talk to mother the same topics are the same.

Not even close. As far as you know, it's like reading that same in you know you can see Miriam is now reading through her Scriptures again with new eyes. Yes, and I will bet the farm that you probably spent several months in Genesis is not over a year but yet when you find something now in first Samuel takes you back to Genesis. You see something you never saw before. I'll it's always nice. It is always new and I remember one time our pastor made the comment when he started pastoring he was afraid you know he was in a run at a sermon scene that he is in a pattern now course, he quickly found it is just limitless when you get back description you read it you just say it with totally new eyes how God worked in these people's lives and how much he loved them and cared for Mammon what he was preparing for us that we could have an eternity with him. I love that you told Sam in the break, so I wanted listeners to be able to hear Sam ask you, you know what it was that so grabbed your attention. You know with this new way that your reading the Bible and your answer.

As far as relating to the Old Testament. Can you share that with her listener and my short-term memory is not Gage.

I'll send out a spot. I just did not relate Old Testament and New Testament. I looked at the Old Testament as wonderful historical facts and that God showed me how he led his people right hand how he laid his people Israel through all these different events how we get them to where he wanted them to Bay and I did not relate to the New Testament all points back to Christ. Everything points to Jesus.

Even in the evening, the Old Testament, it points to Jesus and and the coming Messiah, and it will when you read the Old Testament and the New Testament in the New Testament, Jesus is quoting from the Old Testament and it's all relevant it's it's context to the whole Bible in context, and it's all everything in it points to Jesus. It points to the class that just this week, and of course I only want to think about how many months/years I spent Genesis and think about all those things but I was studying, you know the section Ashley and Luke were to Jesus was talking about how health your eyes for and it related back to the story in Genesis where Isaac was to be sacrificed thereby Abraham and it said that the ram was caught in the thicket and for the first time I saw all my goodness, the ram was wearing a crown of thorns. Right. And again to your point everything is point you know we know the ram was pointed to Jesus what you mean but I never thought about the fact that what's the thicket. Well, if you live in North Carolina you know what I've got it.

I can assure you that there thorns involved in and that being woven together that that ram was wearing a crown of thorns and literally that crown of thorns was holding. There were Abraham could get to him to be able to save the psalmist just it's a fascinating thing, but how many times have I read it and totally missed that and the think and that's the beauty of the whole word of God.

From my point of view. Is there some surprise like that around every corner on every page in. I don't think you could, you know, I think we really will will spend eternity. Plumbing the depths of of of what that is.

However, to just do that and never figure out how that applies to how I treat my wife or the lady at outback that is supposed to seat me or you know all these other things you know is you don't understand Sam and so it's it's it's really nice to see that I've got wounds and other things that really the Bible wants to teach me some stuff that I never you know is just the Bible student. I never want to come across known. It's taken those things is merited back to God and say how to apply these you will want your will for me to apply these to my life without really look like as it plays out where I met today. How's it look you want to look like my son irritates me. How should I treat him differently or should I treat them differently or what's it look like in a work setting units all those questions back to God and help me understand how to take this teaching and the question I see from a lot of men and probably a lot of women as well because you know this is just critical stuff.

Can Satan's use it in order to confuse the issues. Tell me about your father a lot a lot to talk about my father or you don't. You know what, there is a serious issue right there. Sam there is its unit. Satan understands the separation of the father to the sonnet of the daughter do so many things, not just relationally with those two, but spiritually you know it can look at how we relate to God. You know we can we can cast that relationship we have with earthly father under the relationship with her heavenly father not even know it and I did that for years thinking and my dad was loving. I know you love me but I was never priority in the other things going on, and so I had a hard time praying thinkable. God's dealing with, you know like wars and famine is time for me you love me has to love me as God loves everybody and JavaScript scissors are God's love for you once they understood how that relationship dynamic with my dad got in the way of my relationship with my heavenly father.

While what a game changer and a lot of that was true but can't quite honestly we talked about, you know, being that being the son ship for God as father writing interesting to me that we I guess about four years ago started get associated with North Carolina boys Academy and so we've been blessed people have donated so that we could scholarship you know the boys that go to the North Carolina boys Academy to come to boot camp and we saw clearly that one of the battles afoot for these guys was fatherhood and got seeing God as your father and we also came to realize quickly that a lot of these guys were not just because your boot camp did not mean they had a relationship with the court's early, even saved and as a result of that we never even thought of. I never thought of all work in somebody's gonna get saved at boot camp or something to get baptized boot camp. The thought never crossed her mind, but then all of a sudden Cobbs opened up this this in our hearts to say in Outlook that there's a lot of folks out there that really don't even realize they don't have a relationship with God and what God just works in the minute you in and maximizes the remember when Eli and I were to boot camp being Samsung yeah sorry 33 boot camps go something like that we were going fishing and one of the geysers from the mission. Once his own rescue mission. Eliza, can we invite them again so I asked him to come down and we went fishing on the ice getting set up with a hook and everything and he didn't want to do it initially and after a fish for a while. He started opening up and talking about how fishing been such a painful memory in that his dad were taking, but it would not be a pleasant time. You know and I will back you just Talk about how much he really enjoyed fishing and not replace a bad memory in which open them up to say thank God still father continually so camp is coming up March 21. Of the 24th KR Thursday, March 16, the King of Versace.com you can register for either a phone equal opportunities and so thrilled to have people with a passion for the word of God there with Kay Arthur and her ministry. We do want to highlight the fact that this will be an awesome men's event as well and with David Arthur being there.

Her son, which you know I'd be cool to hear his his view of of what you know with his dad being who he was and so that's really cool that's coming up March 16 and got I tickets and register you can go to King pursued some registry know to try at Baptist and register, but how much is it it is $25 per students, college students, high school students and it is 35 for just a single ticket and 55 for married couples two for the price of 5555 if your Mac if you married if you married yes you get fit and check the license.

We don't have time for studying the Bible we know. Include lunch on campus outside because we only had about an hour break then $55 for two people to eat lunch at tri-baptisms with itself is worth, I was feeling your be feeding on something a lot more valuable that you here's here's a meal that will provide you ever and of course the boot camp. I am you know how near endure this to our hearts. I'm excited already make the last one you know is that Tom hamstrings the week before playing Airsoft of all things, yes, paintball his will door the nurse offered yeah it's the hamstring is nothing more painful than the playbook that we will have Airsoft there at the boot camp. If you want to shoot me. I guarantee I will play enough Juergen placing him in the book so I can shoot you yet I can't run as fast as the hamstring to get easy chance. So there is fishing shooting. There is live fish in all those things but but what we always say is what God is going to do is what wows us as we have some call the covenant of silence where we give people questions to Groton take to God with the Bible and whatever you could take these and ask God and it is there that makes the difference. It's it's a session in our time with God or it could just be one of the quiet times of just rocked your world, you know, it could be a build up over several weeks at every times completely different. You know, there is no formula with God. Just like Jesus to heal the blind, the same way twice. God approaches us as an individual uniquely to our heart the way that he knows we need it and it's it's so cool to see it play out time and time and time again and it happens not just for the people that are attending, but for the people preparing the people helping everybody there is impacted by God during out throughout the weekend and hopefully takes us a long way but if it's read through the Scriptures. You won't find a whole lot of people that really had a huge experience at the temple.

You will find a whole lot of people.

They've had a huge experience in the wilderness and an end and it's amazing when you get out there and in and think how many kids are saving Christian camps and I'm not talking about the salvation just getting out there and disconnecting from the iPhone. From your email from all the different things and sitting quietly in its in the setting were there other people praying for you Sam, that God is going to allow you choose to see a new direction where he wants to take him adventure and there's something about being in nature. The just awakens the soul you know you get out there.

You hear the birds you here. Maybe the water running, or whatever it might be in to see you got up and drive to the beauty all around you that you just take for granted everyday and the cool thing is about this of this camp is we try to keep the price really affordable and we keep it at 199 which is for three nights and in all the meals you know it's it's it's something that is very inexpensive.

If you have a family it's it's equivalent take them out to eat. A couple times in these days that it's really not. It's not a little amount of money but for what you get. It's a very good value and you know II know what it is meant in my life and a big part of it is community and we know on neglect that that you know part of what's going on at Triad Baptist is you guys have a wonderful community where you feel like you belong and whatever for men feeling like they belong to a community or have friends I can really tell the truth to is not so easy.

It's not in men tend to be more standoffish but also look at our community Robbie that this come from the boot camp and we didn't know each other before boot camps and the community that's come from that in the depth and the healing and the love it's been formed know that the guys can truly get really deep and they can share and they can be vulnerable with each other which allows God not just working that individual's life that the whole group and their families. Yes, you know that's you know there's there's also some stuff that's going on generationally that you will only get see you not heaven but II think about the whole way I see raising my kids and different things. As a result of those experiences realizing the role of a father or grandfather that makes it a huge difference when I think back in the unfortunate rabbit have both my sons go to boot camps note just prior to them really getting engaged in relationships with girls and things like that and how much of well one more time will tell you this so amazing thing. March is springtime so train hey Arthur is coming to Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville March 16 March 21, 24th.com right to change banks encouraging prayer. Thank you for listening those followed by the journey starts here now so much truth
