I your host Robbie Gilmore hey I'm very excited led me in this direction because it is an interesting thing Thanksgiving week is never easy as time to find guests and so I do have sort of have a guest and I want to bring out you know.

But Jesus junkets that's coming up at 11:30 AM the guest so to speak, is David Garrison and he wrote the book of wing in the house of Islam, and David is actually coming to Calvary Baptist church tomorrow and you can hear him speak. I think it's speaking like six times between one and 6 o'clock tomorrow afternoon so you know that's a big big deal when I got a soundbite from David that I want to play, but nothing about, then God, let me this way since Robbie you know how it's got take your passion then use it to build the kingdom. So the real question would be for Robbie.

How does it take your passion Robbie and and and use it to build the kingdom. So I thought that I would spend a little time this morning kind of going into how God does that in my own life because my real passion is for him and so the time that I spend with him. He's kinda showed me some things I want to share that in the show today on a going to kinda how he teaches me and and maybe you can glean from something there that would be fun for you to try to get into that, but first of all, you know, it is a couple days after Thanksgiving. And so speaking of turkeys actually start off with rid of the calling of candidates for 87884. Why didn't mom sees in the church so that is not actually like Robbie. My wife and on her two children and took the assignment of Libyan Arabs and studied Arabic for several years in Egypt and Tunisia and projected ministries into Libya from a nonresidential base. We were not allowed to live there as Americans tell people during those years.

We learned a lot of ways, not twin Muslims, by which I mean you. We did everything we knew to do that just didn't seem very responsive at that time, not 10 years later FlashForward and we took an assignment is director of Southern Baptist work in South Asia is India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and multi violence.

We had more Muslims in South Asia than in all the Middle East and North Africa combined, and something was different.

This was around 2002, 2003. We had lots of Muslim background believer partners we were seeing a lot of Muslims come to Christ began in Bangladesh then began spreading to other ethnolinguistic people groups across that region. We stayed in that work until 2009 when we relocated to the Colorado Springs area to learn from and share best practices with other great commission.

Christians are so many of them based in the Colorado Springs area and over the course of that time it became more and more aware of the fact that something was changing in the Muslim world and that's what led us to this investigative research over the next three years into the Muslim world into Muslim movements to Christ, ultimately resulting in a book called a wind in the house of Islam.

So that is Jesus junkets today.

God used it to build the kingdom it actually really blows my own mind is just like how did this happen. Robbie well how it happened was I was a car salesman. If you didn't know that and you know God was going to develop a passion in me, but I had no idea.

And so you may have heard me say before that the two major events in my life.

My own foot washing if you were from my previous show were number one I went to hear a sermon on prayer one time where this particular pastor gave the idea that you have two ears and one mouth and we need to listen in prayer twice as much, as we talk and that definitely change my life significantly. But what really really really change my life even more than that was when I picked up the book the power of positive thinking by Norman's appeal and the idea was asking to sell more cars. But God was good to meet this car salesman where I was in the beginning of it. It said if you get up an hour early and read the Bible you will develop a positive mental attitude because he knew Norman's appeal did that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

And so, that began about 1991 or I would begin reading the Bible every morning for an hour and that really became in so many ways my passion as I got to know God better. I not only would read the Bible in the morning. I eventually got the whole Bible on tape and I would travel a lot between dealerships and in all sorts of stuff. So I would listen to the Bible and listen to it and listen to it listen to it of course went to sermons and that kind of thing but my real joy was just to spend time in the word and begin to to see where God was taking me with all that and then I want to trip. Interestingly to Russia, and a bunch of places and on the plane ride over there with my wife. God said to me clearly as I was listening in prayer this time.

He said I want to write down the insights that you're getting from your Bible study. So I began to Journal and it was like I leveled up. It was like I ate the cherries or something you know when you get when you're on mayhem and all of a sudden we went to the next level and not only were we study the Bible but now we were journaling the things that he was teaching me and this was about 1993's about two years after I began reading through the Bible and all my goodness I started this whole idea of praying through my time in the morning as well and in thanking God over and over and over again and writing down all the things that I was thankful for all part of what that journaling experience with would be and so between my prayer time and my time in the word I became more and more passionate fell more and more in love with God again. I was a car salesman. Then I also had to have a Bible study in the dealership that led to all sorts of conflict actually got fired and then started my own dealership and that led to all sorts of shenanigans.

There's no doubt about that.

If you know my story, but 19. Excuse me. In 2006. Moving forward, a number of years, I've met Stu Epperson.

By that time and in my prayer time.

Those times I was passionate with God. Now he was going to take my passion in a new direction. He was like Robbie and wants to start the Christian car – and I am terrified of doing the radio seem crazy to me but I knew Stu and he was sort of my fleece and when I went to Stu and he said oh Robbie, this great idea. You need to start that this Saturday.

Then all the sudden got it taken my passionate with where I was falling in love with him and asking me to now begin to talk about what he was teaching, not just from a car format but from all sorts of formats, even as you will defer today and Moses is on the hologram well then you know after I came to work for truth broadcasting. I met these guys from Masten geranium and it was like I leveled up again and all sorts of things started happening in my prayer life and my reading of the Scriptures and it you know again if she was a messenger and radio. I began to collect this band of brothers which was just a phenomenal part of what God is done for me about two years ago that was three years ago I started asking God every morning and I did this in my journal, which I'd switch to an electronic journal. I did it my notes on my phone as begin to ask God for my word of the day and this was huge in my life I mean is just like oh my gosh she would give me this word and then throughout the day I would see how this word would commit to my day and I would study that word look at the etymology that where I just had a blast of this work.

But interestingly, when I got back from the boot camp which we had here about two weeks ago, the Monday after that happened through a really crazy fluke.

My whole journal that I have electronic there got gone on going to the details of that. It was all of a sudden gone and I felt like somebody to me in the stomach like oh my gosh, my whole life is right there my whole life with God. I was now reduced my passion and so I started Ascot. He was like well Robbie, we have a new season coming in in and I want to start a new practice, not just getting a word for the day. Now I want to ask me every day. God, what are you praying for me. Jesus what are you know because you know Jesus is right there at the right hand of God, what are you praying for me and so after he do that I get my word of the day and then I'm asking for Scripture and can I just tell you over the last three weeks. It was like I leveled up again and was like oh my gosh like he just took me to something even new and more fruit and more passion like I sometimes in the morning just in and by the way what was in our years ago. Actually I get up about 3:45 now and and I really am in that study until about 8 o'clock and so between prayer and study Aminah and and you would think that and I never seem to have enough time.

Yes I did take a nap during the day to make a visit but oh my gosh Aminah that's that's where God, you know, if you say Robbie relief involved in this ministry that ministry. This ministry met ministry or this radio show on that radio show how to that all take place what he just developed my love for him through spending time with him. They are an interestingly, the more time I seem to spend there the more fruitful you know he gives you because you know the idea was of this show originally. II was looking at the ministry, but you know God's relic. What Rick Warren said that you know God's a lot more inch more interested in who you are than what you do and so you know that time that you fall more in love of God, whatever that looks like in your life mean as you do that, I think you actually begin an opportunity to do the great commission, which I know is a car salesman that we should be great commission but if you think about what the great commission really says Jesus would've thought about that in Hebrew terms in the word disciple inherent in Greek, you may no means enthusiastic learner but in Hebrew the word is, you know that means in Hebrew disciple is tell him what that means, literally, a Bible scholar somebody that spends time trying to look into the intricacies of God about not picking up all the traditions necessarily but just spending time with him finding out more and more and more about them and in doing so all my goodness, I mean you will. I don't think that you see how you could miss you would spend that much time with God and he will develop a passion.

If you can't do it for an hour. Do it for 20 minutes. Do it for 30 minutes. There's a really fantastic app that Ransome Park just came out with just this week. There's no doubt in my mind that whether it's missions are working with special needs children or working with the Jesus labor love or doing the devotions at Somerset or any of the many radio shows and ministries that God has given me the only way that I would be able to and I really have any fruit.

This is if he didn't know Dick continued to enlighten me. I mean, because as you read the word right you can get more and more Jesus because in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God and and actually as you begin to take that in and begin to memorize it and and see it and put it together in your life.

Then all of a sudden these lights come on and that you start connecting the dots of all sorts of different ways you can put together the Scriptures so for me, even this very week. No, he gave me that Robbie, I'm praying for you that you will be able to stand and as I began to study what that was that he was praying for me and began to study the word that he gave me stand. Then all of a sudden I found this place where Moses was standing on holy ground, and then all my goodness he began to reveal the secrets to me to see that all that so connected to the disciples feet getting washed and that so connected to how the feet are beautiful of the one who gives good news and so connected to you know the whole idea of you know Ephesians 6 where it says no. He who shops his feet with the gospel of peace. If you've ever even seen that. But if you look at David when he is waiting for the word on Absalom it's second second Samuel, where he's waiting on that to go all that must be his and Sally's bringing good news on course. Those people who spend time in the word and have beautiful feet running like somebody who has so how does God take your passion and use it to build the kingdom. Well, spend time with him and be like your hologram now.
