Your host Robbie Gilmore. Robbie is not here today, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to host such an amazing show for kingdom proceeds to describe, and I'm speaking with Dan Maine for masculine journey, say hi, Sam. Hello Robbie is out having some fun today.

I think I've heard a couple different story will let him share when he comes back, I'm sure he'll be up for doing that and says not here alone. He's also here but David vessels from seat hey thanks for having me here today.

I appreciate it.

Thanks so much for showing up and also on the other Mike.

We have brick from the Hope Center hello, thank you so much happiness out. Thank you so much you guys all for coming out.

It's my first time posting some a little nervous but I'm glad you guys all showed up so about the Hope Center break. What can you tell us about it if I know nothing about the Hope Center tell me like a little kid I saw the Hope Center is trying to get more into the community center so we do have is we have a clothing closet that is free and you can come to and we also have a food pantry as well.

We serve the community here in Watertown, Kernersville area, but also the first night. Wow, that's really really cool so how'd you get involved with the Hope Center well at first I got involved through the clothing closet because the food pantry was just kind of starting up and we haven't really been open the food pantry has an opening for like less than a year now, so I started in the clothing closet and just really, really wanted to see the food pantry kind of explode and do well release all they need Darren that Watertown area and so is only did we just went for it, how are you from this area actually from the Winston area Kernersville, the actually living. So I do there a year ago.

Yeah they like where like that small town feel yet is a really perfect for families limit their Sam how did you get involved with well the church the Tobruk and I go to is one that started the Hope Center. It's called the project read three Hope Center you can find it on Facebook. Different places, but about end of last year I was having lunch with our pastor Mike and I just talk about how much he had going on possible.

How can I help you reasonable what you think about being the director of the Hope Center initiative might know that I went home and prayed about it, the God said yes and so I said yes and it's this been tremendous job Tobruk and Sharon do.

There is just amazing and I just tried Terry to help and try to find resources informed for more food. We are partners with second harvest Food Bank. But that doesn't quite meet the needs of all the people, known as as you have inflation going up in a couple of at least one other local food pantry closing down its without more clientele come through and so that's were she to get involved in both so yeah so she just partnered with our project read three Hope Center were currently start on Thursday were doing a canned food drop so you go to your local sheets here in Winston, the Kernersville area Watertown King Mitterrand Wahlberg and donate three or more cans of food and get a free drink or free coffee cup to know anything like that. You just take it up to the front register area given to employee and the look you up with a drink in so we we partnered with them kind of with what samples and meeting the demand I like to go to the project read three so so I was up at the center.

One Saturday and talking with broken salmon ink on I heard that the need was there and so I went back and prayed about it and reached out to my district manager and she's really awesome center email while she boarded up the flagpole and hopefully she's proved to do the scan drive, which is something huge because typically we don't do that kind of thing necessarily. Yeah, I see really surprised, but I'm really glad to hear because I love seat on the applicant to be supporting possible somethings in your urine. Kernersville, so Kernersville you yeah so it's going pretty good so far.

So if you're listening. Anyone donate some food to the Hope Center which is a great outreach for our community. Please bow me stop by sheets or project read three is a drop-off area as well as the Hope Center. I do believe as a drop-off on the side door hey Sam, so I know you were telling us something a little bit about the masculine journey boot camp. Can you let us know a little bit about that David and I are actually in the bond masculine journey radio show and after hours and in we have a ministry that we do that does men's boot camps we been doing it in one version another since 2009 and so done a fair number of we do a couple of my year's we have one coming up November 17 through the 20th, which were given away a boot camp today that we are. Later it later in the suggest a Tunde and a book a great book called wild at heart. But we also have an upcoming thing called entrenchment. It's free and it's in Reidsville and mid-September 30th and October 1 and for more information on both of those you can go to masculine journey.org and find out information and register for the boot camp which is a great deal.

It's four days for hundred $99. Wow, you guys do you have to pick someone expect to do well. It's getting closer to God is the outcome getting closer to Jesus you growing your walking you know we have certain topics that we go through the really speak to men's hearts quite a bit. Not that they would into women's but you know we were geared to men's ministry and what it does is will have a topic and then will kinda teach on a train on it. But the Holy Spirit work and then you go out you have quiet time with God and work on that topic or work on whatever God wants to work on your heart and wishing people get some intense healing hear from God. For the first time ever that type of thing is beautiful.

When they first hear from God. Yeah, it's just an amazing thing and you know we go with expectation that God's going to do something you don't know what it is but is going to do something and and honestly as many of them as I've been to, which is gotta be up to about 30 wow now hold the record you have pretty close you got other people's boot camps doing that again next weekend gone dollars. Of course, but every time I've been God's done something for my harder for me at those camps and so even though the information the same.

I'm in a different place towards God and so I hear things differently and in David's also been the 32 boot camp seems like so much more. But anyway the boot camps are great. You know I went to my first one fall of last year and then went to the spring this past spring there great and I deftly say go in there with you know Martin pray about it.

You know, we were just talking the other day Sam is pretty common, offers boot camp I was in this day and I'm really glad I did because talk about hearing God's voice for the first time it was audible form and I heard it at my first camp and ultimately change my life completely totally different person.

I was a year ago and you know it's it's dumb deftly thank you for the boot camp and in what they do with her, we do with it now.

That's really cool. Honestly, I wish I could go but it is the man's began so determine where, how did you get into this so I've been studying radio since I was about 16 at the career center they don't load they no longer have the radio back testing program that I've been working with cheap cheap broadcasting for a year and I'm usually the producers.

I'm usually on the other side of the class today on the house since Robbie's. I hear it's exciting.

I long long time ago when to college and in my initial major was radio and TV yeah and I did that for the switchover to teaching, which I didn't finish that when he was kind of cool as overtime. God had brought me back to the radio show back in 2011 that you know that that Robbie helped start the masking journey radio show and then also to the boot camps and stuff. He's let me, and a step into the teaching article where he uses all the stuff that we get so it's exciting to see that you're just getting started in that side of the microphone you can do a great job and learn more about the message you're listening to TruthNetwork.com. The first thing that Robbie is here that I am. My name is Hunter Meares and I'm here with Sammy from the Hope Center hey Sam I'm doing good it's agree were very grateful to be here. You had such a great platform and the show is pretty amazing to see what God does you know and brings people together been fortunate to be on the show a few times with the masking journey and with the Hope Center and it's always amazing how you how God takes a little offering that we give and multiplies it, which is really pretty cool. Speaking of center. You know what decanting proceeded without Robbie's red riddles and jokes and these are all Robbie. By the way, I am rashly scared of places like shopping center, particularly if they are confusing and difficult to navigate the complex complex complex but once you see the shopping center seemed in mall drug. Sadly, I had to leave my job at the cat rescue center know why David anybody no idea they cut me hours so that would be perfect for you. What language is spoken at the center of the earth. Sam Christian, I don't know know who Dorian visiting potatoes and glasses are never the center of attention know why it just spectators. The riddle for yesterday in the middle the center for sanity is aware you guys know where the center of Christian I don't have any idea, where is it you as good as mine. Oh well, somebody got the call in and find out because we have a price to give away today so they know what it is Christian, like we said before, they're going to win a masculine journey boot camp experience valued at $199. Alright, so if you know the answer to that call in and let us know you'll be the winner will get together for God changing alright Breck I know you were telling us a little bit about the clothes closet. Can you tell us a little bit about maybe your passion behind. Well actually run the food pantry portion and Sharon is incredibly passionate about the clothing closet infectious the way she is so passionate about what she does. She was really the brains behind the Hope Center and starting both the food pantry in the clothing closet set to give her credit that I really feel strongly about fighting for our community and being able to grow the food pantry in my way of fighting back against the insecurity also showing my kids that have to jump back you have to do something about it. We can't just talk about something that's amazing I didn't even know they had kids once a great example to set for them. Yeah now so partnering with sheets has been huge for us because were still kinda small so this is really big opportunity for us and very grateful for David sheets allow I'm still really surprised that you guys were able to partner with such a large company and they were willing to partner with now.

It's been amazing and were really excited to see where this takes us sheets, David. You know won't say a whole because he's pretty humble about stuff that he was instrumental in getting that down the line he'll tell you to send an email but the thing is, he sent an email to send it to the right person in his passion and his relationship with his boss is what helped this all come about and you know we don't know how much food we can get from the food drive, but we do know those were going to get whatever God gives us and were also going to help people know about us is in this day and age, as inflation goes, people are choosing right now, do I pay my rent to pay my house payment to AE like it scared the kids school clothes and onwards trying to meet the needs of that the school closed in, or any clothes for that matter necessarily and and and food and they can come in once a month to get food artwork track. Yes.

So yes, obviously donations have been down during the summer, so getting the word out and really having food drives and things like that have become increasingly more and more important, as Sam says is inflation goes up, there's more and more families that are in need of food and we never want anybody to have to choose between gas in your car and putting food on the table. That's why were there. Somebody's hoping to help. What I maybe some staple items that they could bring to the guys so nonperishable's are huge for us to be box potatoes. It could be packets of rice mac & cheese means fruit anything that's nonperishable that is within date.

We love to see those items define items to think that you would put your kids lunchbox is Max little individually. Now packaged cheese at similar fish crackers anything like that.

Are there any things you guys don't take as a food drive. We don't take anything that is expiring. We don't take anything like that. As far as we don't take will take hygiene items we love kitchen I anything like that so will take a wide range they David you mind sharing in the sheets locations around the area.

Yeah sure no problem so as to be the sheets in the Western area. Also, all the sheets in Cartersville were also doing it at Watertown King Bermuda run in the Wahlberg location so I'm just going to any location go up to the front register. We did employ the manager anybody with a sheet shirt on and let them know you're doing cans and then you can help yourself to a free self-service Goldrick Rodrick which includes our coffees and our cappuccinos, and it is just a really great outreach to support with the Hope Center like their talk about inflation and not one to choose between gas or rent and food ultimately is why sheets partnered with oaks and workers ultimately do that either, and spoke earlier about how big or big company we trust locally was your correct with the local partnerships we do do some bigger partnerships on this is one of the first ones that I'm aware of not saying it doesn't happen, but I'm very thankful that I work for a company that has allowed me to be in a position to be able to help center and project recently with this and and ultimately that's what got laid on my heart and my passion with that is to help people in general have always been like that and so I'm glad I'm getting opportunity or just give me the opportunity to help the local community.

With this well Sam I wanted to ask you some more about entrenchment opportunity thing that you spoke of earlier entrenchment is something new that were trying.

That's it masculine it is.

It's with masculine journey. Sorry we we got to get our hearts in several different ministries here insert list a few different several is an exaggeration but to a few different ministries of had a friend that actually used to go to project read three years ago is now pastor of a church open in Reidsville reach out to me, probably in the spring and said that his church and wanted him to do a revival for men specifically said that instead revival I want to do something similar to boot camp because he's been to boot camp and so were going to his church in Reidsville. It's a new Lebanon church up there in its October 30 goes September 30 October 1 it's it's free.

The only thing that were asking as a people provide a donation for the food that they're going to get the windbreaks and canned food. We deftly take that and give it to the Hope Center as well. But it's it's a time or they can kinda see what a boot camp like without investing a whole weekend's boot camp runs Thursday night through Sunday at noon and this is just going to be Friday evening and then all day Saturday and surrendered some of the topics we do a boot camp to the quiet times with God all that kind of stuff. Just let God do his work and then also let people know what it's like to come to a well that's a great opportunity just one day instead of the whole weekend. If you have time for that right, in its relatively local. You know me in Reidsville from here's a little bit of drive but if you're in the Kernersville area. It's 40 minutes you know you're up there and again like the cost of just your gasketing up there and if you eat lunch or dinner either Friday or Saturday just asking for a donation to the church is not losing money on it but to Casper could question so Brooke, you were not a very big operation over there and Sharon is great about sharing the numbers. Do you mind sharing the numbers from August and year to date absolutely. So in August we had 74 families come through for food and that equals tooth 238 people individuals total and those families and for clothing.

It was 122 families that we had come through, not totals 335 individuals that we served in that family. That's amazing yeah and those numbers continue to rise as well were seeing a lot closer to your today through August business you have that on the bottom of the thing. Total families that we serve. Just 269 families share August 925 people a lot of people.

I'm glad you guys are all willing to do everything, absolutely yeah it's it's pretty amazing and the people that come in are tremendous. This brick veneer there every time, rope, and it seems like that you know I'm there on Saturdays and David. You help out on the fourth Saturday is really really listening to the TruthNetwork.com.

David and Stan and brick all helping out the Hope Center and David with the sheet were so glad to be here. I do appreciate you this on the day you guys for coming so Sam tell me a little bit more about masculine journey boot camp will obviously since you been, we let anybody go with that, David, that I referred Sophia give them a hard time.

It's just because I enjoy doing that.

We met at a boot camp is where we met for the first time in messenger to bouquet is derived from the Buchwald heart, which is also part of the price package today just goes through an in-depth look has a unique way of speaking to a man's heart. I did hit me I was going through really rough time in my marriage. Back in the early 2000 and my boss at work actually gave me that book and it hit me where is working at the time and it hit me at a place for my heart really needed no related it. It spoke about God in ways I didn't learn at the church. Churches that I went to because each church kinda falls under its own little flavor. You know someone is become grace a lot more someone to speak on repentance a lot more that kind of thing and screaming more of a total picture known in a different picture of my own heart and God's heart and that led to me going to my first boot camp which was with the wild heart team in Colorado and it was just tremendous.

It's the first time I heard from God ever and he worked on some really painful childhood wounds that I had and help me move past those help me move into a place of healing and restoration in a place where not embarrassed to talk about those things anymore, because when those things happen to you. Often the enemy comes at you and makes you think it's only you that deals with it in for me it was a molestation issue that happened from a family member you know and and so would not happen and being the age that I was my first thought was, no one will ever know about this. You know I am never going to say anything, and when you keep those things bottled up, the enemy has free access in on just pension down and will and why God did as he came in he worked on that healing for me and and help me understand that you know what happened to me wasn't my fault you know the guy was a victim they're just different things that the enemy had me believing in and really move me to a place of freedom in the place of those things don't hurt anymore… Part of my life. This is what happened in a healthy speaker God's glory in God's redemption in under so many other things that he's come and help me move past in my life because we none of us get through this life unscathed.

You know, everybody gets hurt. Everybody gets one half stars. We do you know God has come in sometimes in and open up that scar and get the splinter that's in there out so they can really heal instead of festering and so I see that happen with men over and over and over again in unique thing for me is you know if especially for your old like me. David saw the sites you don't have to take that one from you, but you're growing up at the end of the John Wayne era were you just suck it up. You will be a manual talk about these things you do shove them down. That's what you're told and and that's the worst thing you can do you know the best thing you can do is is a Bible shares it says share with her brother share with someone else that you then it can come to light and then God can heal it. And so, through those boot camps were really stepping in and sharing those moments with God, letting him father strode as a great story that you talk about yourself, how old were you when you accepted the Lord. Well, except the Lord when I was a teenager and to be true. So I started going to the church because the girls were kinda cute. Now I was a small town and I'm like yeah yeah that's place to meet somebody you know God guide use that little hook and reel me in and the you from there he help me to church camp accepted the Lord and I went to a great church growing out that one of the things that they never really did is great at preaching you. You need to accept Christ right. But then no one ever said what you do after you accept right there is no like help me class you know kind of thing and so I really tried to just stumble on my own so that you know accepted God felt like okay and cleansed. Everything's good until the next time I send again or something else happen.

I thought okay my still saved my not saved, you know, and there was no help in and through this program throughout a hard and a lot of John Eldridge's other books. It's really help me understand that concept and understand it was. Paul writes about were new creations in Christ, you know, and it'd be like yelling at a baby when the first trying to learn how to walk the same.

Are you walking yet you know you know and shaming them and and so as Christians we have to grow in from from milk to me is what Paul writes you know we have to go from that early so substance I think is a word for something it's that's more you can take bites of you know and that's as we grow as Christians and as we get stronger in Christ. Those tendencies go away so I give you more than what he asked for solace. That was a K I'm glad you said that with think you you have any other experiences at the big cat maybe something that you witness yeah receiving a couple people we had. I wasn't at this particular boot camp. I had actually went out to play paintball and thought that I was younger than I was and says I went to run I didn't tear one hamstring, but both hamstrings at the same time. And so it happened like four days ahead of boot camp and I couldn't go but one of the people that went went and they weren't a Christian you know they got invited. They came in. Initially they were very upset that they were there they were enjoying it. You know, it was completely foreign and by the end of the boot camp that accepted Christ and actually got baptized at the camp at that time and we had a we had a couple different baptisms that's been pretty special. We had one at this last boot camp were one of the guys from Ohio becomes the came down and he was with his brother-in-law and his dad on that particular trip, and he just said he had really love to get baptized. I'm here now. I can't think of a better place to do it and so it's been pretty special to see what God does it. There's a story after story of what he does will he asked two questions of the guys when they leave. Boot camp we would do a little survey and the two questions are to God, come after your heart and how can we pray for you, you know, and it's amazing just to read their stories of this spiritual strongholds being broken.

You know, and then getting freedom easily seen marriages be changed.

We seen marriages not make it, but the people be changed and it's it's just amazing to see how God steps into it and really really just loves on the men David serve anything you seen that the boot camps seek seen a lot. I mean both the camp that I've been to ourselves working on my monitor God's work on my own stuff, you know, did go off of what Sam said about it and as well as by witness been the one but you just give you got an idea. You know, for me for my first boot camp I was in a pretty bad spot my life I mean married after kids from my first marriage and my youngest daughter had moved in with me several months prior to the first boot camp in actually, Jim was the one I got got me to come to the boot camp next asked me two weeks before you started, but I was at the MRI mouse hopeless.

I didn't know where to turn.

Did know where to go from there. I pretty much was ready just to be give up and went to the boot camp and in and like I said you know earlier where Sam saw what did I miss day and I didn't expect to stay take my stuff out of my truck into the cabins we stayed the coffee break was pretty sure within the first little bit of it that I was like yeah I'm a fish out of water here and went to the bonfire. The first night and one of those seasoned boot camp is actually share same names as me is named David.

He asked me. I am confront everybody of why was there and write every moment is when God started coming after my hard-earned and no just kept pressing into him during it because I'd never really experienced that before a map and save my mind as a minister, you know, I was baptized as as a infant and so you know I thought I was living the life that I was supposed to. But I can tell you the boot camp really in a great way not a sound that deftly showed me with God's help. Obviously that I was definitely the life I should be saying that we have a net income you guys know the answer the riddle of what the center 78 four Experience you're listening to the Truth Network TruthNetwork.com Carmen I'm using here today. I'm really happy to host a show and I'm really got three spectacular guest here. We have brick from the help center and we have sand and David also from the Hope Center, and David, specifically the sheets brick do you have any stories you can share with us about the Hope Center any testimony or something like that absolutely have so many really amazing stories that there's a lot of families that lost their jobs during the beginning of the pandemic and I think we all kinda thought you know two weeks to a month and then everything would be back on track back to normal and I was just mean so many families having to put their bills on credit cards and a little catch-up when everything opens back up and so we have a lot of stories about how they've maxed out multiple credit card now all this that just trying to pay their light bill pay their phone bill pay for their kids medicines where medications that they personally need to be able to pay off all of those bills or possibly medical debt. That's what they needed to do list to supplement with the food pantry. They couldn't put food on the table and pay their light bills. We have a lot of stories like that. I will say we do a Christmas toy drive every year and what we do is we let families out gifts for their kids is really so beautiful and it is so touching and I was taking this one little girl back one time and she was talking about. What would you like for your grandmother to pick out. We have a lot of parents that have become. And she was just saying you know this so happy just to be here all she was like I don't doesn't matter what she picks out. This is making her happy and just happy hour together and I think that's way really what I love the pinching the clothing closet brings is like that family connection I feel very strongly about families connecting and sitting around that table every night for dinner or couple nights a week and were able to take that stress away able to feed them for them to be able to feed their children and just that's one less thing at the end of the day they have to be worried about is to be able to feed their children connect to a stronger family that's an amazing story. Thank you for sharing. I'm really glad that the Lord ignited that in your heart and I was even able to happen really amazing how he connects all the dots and how we all end up where we are.

It's not something that I never thought that I'd fall into or in-depth writing, but I that big believer in taking the opportunities we can talk about the changes we want to see all day but that's not what's can I change the community and is not what hopefully change your future.

So my kids are a huge part of the Hope Center and my youngest is six he has really gotten involved as well.

It was really cute. They were at the park and it was this two-year-old he was helping down the slide to be really protective in the cave little bit you now like you are, you know my name is Chris and I'm really friendly because I work at the Hope Center and I you know I welcome people and help people with food and clothing that's the day that you want your kids to continue to do I'll do with my last breath to make this world a little bit better. That's amazing. You're such a great role model for your kids, all of you guys. I'm so thankful for everything you do you honestly can't even believe that I'm hearing it all and try to picture how you guys do this the pantry.

The close drive putting in all these hours we all have our 40 hours I work that you guys still take time to do even more than that. We have a strong team of people that we become more like family and just a team and we all very much. Have just as passionate as the next about what we do what we want to see for the future and help center on this.

It is just amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.

I would for the Hope Center if you're part of a church out there and you want to partner with us, you know, this is not about our church. It's about helping the community and we have already the way church in Kernersville that's helping out monetarily each month starting this next month and then also sending some people help volunteer, you know, our goal would be obviously to get enough volunteers and enough food to be open more right, but with with the people we have working out our max you know. But if you want more information you could go to project 33 Hope Center on Facebook. You can also search for our website Facebook probably a better place causing us questions right there but we could use volunteers. We could use food we could use monetary donations anything that God lays on your heart. It is a 501(c)(3) meaning that anything you give is tax deductible. So if that's something that's important to you. We can provide receipts for that but you obviously if you feel in a bakery and you'd like to get some leftover bread day-old bread. We take that if you get anything like that but she dated anything want to share you say it's a good opportunity talk about this you're sitting there thinking you really want to do something. I say reach out to them and do it don't way – my God laid it on your heart deftly don't miss her so much she's coming up is the Truth Network
