Your host Robbie Gilmore you got a firecracker of Fourth of July pursuits exported to in so many different ways. I'm so excited to share with you all. I've got to Virginia Miller and her husband John Moore with West as role Baptist Church and Mayor of the directors of the vacation Bible school will be coming on in here in July what's the big time ever.

July 17 to the 24th. That's right, that's a week July 17 to the 24th. I'll bet you your church is involved in vacation Bible school and all my goodness, how many how many of the next generation of Christ followers will be happening this very summer, when you think about the prayer that we can get involved in all this going on vacation Bible schools across the country. Some of you are in Toledo Ohio today or maybe you're in Dayton or here in Richmond Virginia. We watch the think we are well representative and field free to call him and talk about that because working. We talk about vacation Bible school today and also sort of in celebration of 4 July. We have met Christian here with us again with the Christian here history magazine and their latest issue is America's book how the Bible helped shape the church right Christian on a map. I don't like garbage. I guess to go by last name. So tell me again it's it's America's book how the Bible help shape the church yet. The main idea behind magazine primarily focuses on all the Bible doggedly to the great revivals as well as how the discussion around the Bible D on certain kinds of criticism or interpretation how that American culture excited about finding out about that you know since 4 July 60s know that sounds like well I got is free today since Fourth of July, rather than have my normal dad to have a long format fourth of July whatever is probably not because it's it's a rare story, but I did find it recently is called George Washington and the outhouse you heard that Cameron is that I know you probably familiar with it right now familiar. So once in the 1820s little boy named Sam not coincidental at this point time. His name was Sam.

The little boy was playing a game in the backyard and during the pretend fighting Jamie knocked over the outhouse bathroom. Sam was upset that he would get in trouble so we ran in the woods and he didn't come out until after dark when he arrived back home as Pappy was waiting for and he asked suspiciously, son, did you knock over the outhouse in the afternoon and Pappy know Pappy sandlot them turned over the outhouse so that his father said well let me tell you a story once long ago.

Mr. George Washington received a shiny new wax from his father excited. He tried it out on trees, swiftly cutting it down as he looked at the tree with his dismay he realized it was his mother's favorite cherry tree. As Pappy paused for effect to balance it just like you ran into the when he returned, George, did you cut down the cherry tree and George answered, his father said I cannot tell a lie. I did indeed chop down the cherry tree in his father said, well, since you are honest with me and spare me from your punishment I will spare you your punishment.

Since you're right. I hope you learned your lesson. That was George's Sam Trapp father asked him again.

Son did you knock over the outhouse.

Well Pappy I cannot lie anymore. Boy, I did indeed knock over the outhouse. Now that his Pappy father spanked Sammy for a red white and blue. It was American whimpered Pappy I told you the truth.

What an Pappy answered. That's because George Washington's father wasn't in the tree when he dropped the unforgettable right so that you want what happened with Uncle Sam there you have it so the end of all the shenanigans you know I would actually really have a really spectacular price for you today. Really one of the best we've ever offered here on pursuits you can answer this riddle, which is why are there no fourth of July knock knock jokes.

Okay, that's her actual little today. Why are there no July knock knock jokes and they can answer that I want to get to watch the great divorce the opera theater in Raleigh on Saturday, July 9 18 are you getting this great divorce is a mean, this thing is spectacular. They go around the country doing it and remember what Max's last name is the guy that impersonates the influences spectacular.

Anyway, those tickets or if you look at them online or over hundred dollars per ticket, and therefore tickets. If you can just tell us this little Fourth of July riddle.

Why are there no fourth of July knock knock jokes you call us 866-34-TRUTH 87884 866-34-TRUTH and just tell us why there's no Fourth of July knock knock jokes. I mean pretty easy. I would think don't answer. Make sure somebody with his very excited to get that away. So 26 years Virginia resident have you been doing that. So you gotta tell your audience how the world for 26 years. How did you get started. I grew up in Bible school because I'm going to church all my life and was always in novel school, so I said as I aged out teaching really then after John and I started dating and I started going to his church. I think we taught one year and then after that, they made me Dir.'s have been doing it ever since. 26 years only so John from understanding this and this love story you told her she was going to your church.

Oh yeah, yeah, that was given. That was a given that my wife told me it was the other way around. I didn't go to church so she was like if you're going to update me. You gotta go to church and so that's out as have happened in my story so Matt, how did it happen in your story how did you end up going to church you go to was mostly conveniently close to my parents house where I can live with and the pastor and he was a really good man of God very honest and very down to earth and even loving and doing everything here is not very long. I just moved to Arkansas not too long ago, certain plot long and I didn't know you moved to Arkansas but anyway so did you go to VBS when your chin I moved around a short time, California, Denver, Colorado is well settled on what I I. I'm with you man. Actually I'm I have moved when I came to Winston-Salem. I moved 27 times in my life, and at one point time I've moved more lot more times and I had years that I've lived because my father was with Buick and he got transferred every couple years and then I got in the car business, which meant I got transferred all over the place too and so yeah I've lived in every place you mentioned except Washington but I got a few you haven't lived in matters with Christian history magazine. Their latest publication is talking about Americans. The Bible and the role it had in finding America and then we got more on VBS lots more on VBS so stay tuned. And don't forget man you can win these tickets for this CS Lewis's the great divorce coming up at the Raleigh Coliseum narrates 634-8788.

You're listening to the TruthNetwork.com earlier where, beyond blessed today. I just love what were doing were talking about dictation Bible school with Virginia Miller and her husband John with West Ash Grove Baptist Church, which happens to be in Asheboro, North Carolina and other VBS is coming up starting July 17 is Gumby that week, as well as Matt Christian with Christian history magazine in their latest publication. America's book, how the Bible help shape the church and so between the Bible and VBS is all shape and going on, I'm telling you I tell Virginia before the show that we you know I taught special needs at Calvary for years and years and we would use the vacation Bible school format because they have such neat themes in such neat music in order to reach kids hearts right and so this this year's theme with you guises track party food truck party and so I can hardly wait to think what what give me some idea of what were they going with that idea. Obviously the and hungry for the word I'm guessing right where the main aim are Bible verses and thank God for our daily bread, and set each lesson each night is about how God meets our needs and how we can look to him for everything.

It is he is a food truck party. I hadn't thought about that. Not these got the word and then they help you with your thirst to hunger and thirst at some food truck party going on in your neighborhood. Believe me and so it's really really fun and you guys have a big kickoff coming right so you got me today and I know I've heard this rumor about a watermelon seed spitting contest. Yes sir on Sunday before Bible school.

We always have a registration kickoff day and ways like a fire will have homemade ice cream.

Corndogs play games and we have the annual watermelon seed spitting contest that even the adults get involved in.

That's got to be a big thing we've done it now for about probably 1215 years and so I suppose you gotta get the seated watermelons for anyone. And so I did just have a whole. How does Johnny gotta tell us how how is this thing judged you take him out as we set up 10 foot wide rolling plastic and they've got a go for this. Gotta stay on the plastic delivery is distance will there is no prize, but now there's a championship there. Is there really barren bragging. You have now passed along to the current champ they load up there. I'm trying to picture the scene so that they load up their mouth with seeds before they spent the usually is one of the time we got on people for their ever like measured how far they spent the thing I'm thinking one was like 87 feet like that. It's a long way this you all the way across our parking lot 87 I was driving. Yeah courses a lot of cheating going on, so you don't know so mad if you ever been involved in the watermelon seed spitting contest know I will ever do, as does the thought of 87 feet and spitting watermelon seed. Just blow your mind.

But I would really be on maybe the CO2 cartridge into their tongue. You can get. Did you mention that everybody tried getting back to how the Bible was really no instrumental didn't have those kind of seeds but a lot better see that you guys are plantain what what what what what's in that article that that kinda caught your attention.

Matt always on the talk about one of the article that I really making covered with the article called giving sinners know little bit talk little bit about the really great revival that happened in America and around 1600 early 1700s or the Revolutionary war that talks about how little bit about Jonathan Edwards grandfather and how he impacted Jonathan Edwards before he took a very large part of that movement into full operation. Jonathan Edwards grandfather's name was Solomon Stoddard. He lived between 1669 to 17, 29° for 60 years and one little small church, but in the entire time he had Jonathan Edwards read the last two years and one of the things that he said in that particular one of his writings. He said men are in a deep sleep and thought of themselves as if there were no Heller lease that God will not deal with them so harshly with the dam them come straight from Psalm 32 chloride. He said later on in that particular writing. Ministers must give them no rest for that condition.

So they must hold them out of branch of the burning that comes from Zechariah 32 I think one of the things that I think that this particular article within the magazine talks about very interesting way talks about the conviction of thin but I think it really important in the Christian life in the Christian walk.

Obviously, this kind of language that very harshly. Things really hard to talk about Edwards carried on to a very famous sermon sinners in the hands of an angry God. But one thing that I think along the lines of people need to understand what the Houston is so important to the Christian faith obviously thought something desirable but throughout some John the Baptist tree mastery. They always said repent for the kingdom of heaven. I would like to talk about numbers like Jeremiah 2911, especially during times the greater Bible that neglected my thought that this article did a beautiful job that spectacular matter really is and when you think about it. Kids right kids are hurting and they've done something that really they didn't think they were capable of got themselves locked out without houses the case may be, Jerry G. And you know you see their little broken hearts like they need an answer right then and and and being able to supply something that actually does cleanse them. This is a huge part of what you guys do right Virginia right I we did try to meet the needs of the children in the community wait. Every year we collect food this year it's for tracks, but even when it hadn't been about food we collect either money to give to a group or we found out that a lot of the children that come to my Bible school for my neighborhood get actual food and benefit from third out of our pantry in our church so every year we collect cans of food in paper goods and stuff to put in the pantry for those children which we try to meet their needs head-on, starting with feeding them right right which that's you know it's pretty hard to hear the gospel or even hear about you know if you're hungry or if you're worried about it. Where's my next meal coming from.

You know those things are are are clearly a big part of what Jesus did.

He certainly talked about repentance, but he also made sure that the people got their immediate needs help being looked at whatever the situation may be that I can't get over 87 feet can't get over and I'm totally shocked because I thought might my riddle was completely easy, why there are no fourth of July knock knock joke.

I mean, I'm telling you these tickets are awesome to get to go see the great divorce. This this CS Lewis thing you don't want to miss out on this end and you may even know if you list a measure before. Nobody is ever gotten a question wrong in the history of the show if you want to go see a great and I have a real good idea of why there are no not Dr. I was on 4 July.

I might walk you through it. I understand, 866-348-7884 866-34-TRUTH as we want to give these tickets away. One opportunity for somebody to go see this spectacular thing is in Raleigh today p.m. next Saturday night and night.

You will never forget and all you gotta do is just tell us simple enough why there's no knock knock jokes on the Fourth of July and when you hear the answer I promised you laugh, you will I just I know that's coming.

I know that's so I'm I'm getting back to to the VBS idea. You know, we I was telling you before that week we used that theme for many years and we would use that what the call ABCs which is admit believe and confess. At the end of that to try it, you know, at the end of the week we you give the students as our case.

These were special needs folks her mom are in their 50s and 60s an opportunity to to do something
