Tom welcome Tom, 15 years and countless men slides that been touched for those who don't know the house of prayer deals with folks that have got addiction issues right it would help if I die know why the problem is I did manage my time, he said that's correct for those who wondered I got your Mike on Adam, that I might is always on the fifth I apologize for that but yeah Tom it's it's what is you think back over those 15 years what what would I want not what I was wondering what did you do before you buy my housekeeper Michelle was a pastor a church that we rented the chapel at the house of prayer and but wait, I wasn't involved with the house of prayer. We just happen to rent the chapel in and it was called a mustard seed fellowship was a great little church wonderful group of people and then they all grew up. If they had and they all went out and did their own thing and then, but in the process I would get familiar with the house of prayer and when on the board and and at the time the board was actually trying to make a decision on what to do with how super may be close it down yeah just because it was kind of starting to wane off a little bit and so we took some time we fasted, we prayed and the Lord gave us all fresh vision to revitalize it and resuscitate it and get it going again in a new way round. So we get to hear about all the fruit of that today.

But, you know, since it's a house of prayer you knew this was coming right speaking in prayer and that's that. Was it down and that's how it goes.

So you know this this this is that I missed that route right you may have wondered how do pirates know when they pray how they start out if you ever wondered about that Christian are our father. If you say that our father is going irate.

Whereas Froman, I just what Mariette you know it just so I came back to the house prayer of being here like a sieve. 2 1/2 years on the house manager now and in the Lord's just blessed me beyond measure, restoration, family, friends. Give me a piece of paper a few years ago and asked me what I wanted out a laugh.

I would cut myself short out of the out of felt like I was asking for too much out of me and being greedy, but it says exceedingly and abundantly more than we can imagine.

And he's done it and he keeps doing it every day and it's it's a great thing.

I'll take us back to where is why does the story start well out of the I just live my life until I was 46 years old I done it my way and was able to make money and dig myself outta holes in it. When I got into and I finally got in so deep I couldn't get out and I came to the house of prayer and 16 to get out of trouble to get my mom off my back and a piece of paper to take in front of the judge again for all the wrong reasons. Lord didn't see it that way. I got labeled baptized in the Holy Spirit so I'm curious. The East Tennessee so I'm guessing that's not true or somewhere in that area 40 miles east more stale 40 miles east well on your way to Knoxville and and so now when we come back here.

That's funny that it really really is okay so I left her here. Brian is in East Tennessee and so the media question is you dug yourself a hole I dug those holes and and couldn't find your way out and so you found yourself kind of doing what everybody is telling you. You had to do the judge, your mom, etc. etc. so I did it alone but yes it telling that I was trying to manipulate to see all the different places in the world. If you're in East Tennessee.

Why, how did God put you in IHOP. Two other guys that I know came to the house of prayer, and I was talking to one when he came home and it was just the day when other people in East Tennessee that went to the house of prayer. Really, I don't know how they found it okay if I got a D yeah so I will sit with my phone in my hand knowing I had to do something a my friend called and said he had just left the house of prayer and asking if I could go and I called Tom at 11 o'clock.

It was at the house prayer the next day by five 11 o'clock that night in the morning okay lemons you remember this phone call. Tom, can you kind of give us a sense of it while it was really short phone call.

I remember it was like I need some help and I so okay well give me your story and it was like lightning, I've got an addiction in not able to kick and I've got to do something, then center-right will see them on by five is a 5 o'clock deadline tomorrow. That's the way we used to do it a lot very short deadline. If you made a decision.

You better be ready to really act on it and he did and so what does that mean from the standpoint is he's gonna be at the house of prayer like does that mean my check-in like you're now living here or what is that mean that's exactly what it means you check-in this is home for a minimum of six months so you can check in anytime you want this yeah check out that you can leave which is clearly so. So Brian, you know, 2016.

There you show up. Did you make the trip. The character of your yell. They did let me go sledding. The first wins at our Thursday is the next alert and ready to be ready to make that I used to go there in the first. So tell us what that was. It was just, you know, just meet everybody and just I was totally ignorant of the Bible. I mean you your use in a situation try to manipulate it to benefit yourself and you go to a Christian program you know nothing about. Bless the Lord, I there is just it would just say that the Lord put it in front of me that it was easy to go and he was locked.

That was good. I think he always does it that way, but he does it in different ways, like in my case, I wanted to learn how to sell more cars so I bought this series the secret of the power of positive thinking by Norman Vincent Peel and he said I'll never forget this. You're supposed to get up an hour early every morning and read the Bible. If you want a positive mental attitude. There's the secret.

I thought that was the craziest thing I ever heard in my life like I'm learn how to sell more cars. By reading this book. 2000 years old. You know what happened as soon got a thing he does that. So so you so you you got there and what was what what happened, how did God grab your attention. Well, I just started reading the Bible to pass time now and it was about 30 days. Ian and I found that my mom had terminal cancer home while and I was at the house of prayer, and I told Tom I might be leaving.

And he said just called home and see how bad it is until your family the Lord's got you saw found out it was terminal. So then that's when I got real with the Lord. I went out behind the chaplain. I said how does this work you know I come here I'm reading your word. My mom is down the cancer said, you know, if you don't show me something.

I'm done a little stronger than that in the next day he made himself real to me okay and that was a life-changing moment I knew that the Lord was real how to do that when I found a bookmark in our warehouse a couple weeks prior, and that I needed once I put it in my Bible. It was the little footprints in the sand. Everybody's got it all the while grandma put it in my Bible found that my mom had cancer on Wednesday went to the landfill on Thursday everybody I talked to the result of pastor youth minister and a worship leader. We all prayed.

I never shed a tear. I got back home that now to read my Bible to o'clock in the morning every night was the Lord moved only open my Bible net bookmark was stuck. They say you open the Bible, in the words come off the page with this bookmark about, not me out of the bed and he said I've been carrying you all day and that was a life-changing moment for me. I knew he was real at that moment while while in so and I'm sure nobody wonders you state when you went last night I went home and Tom let me go home and write a bus and visit my mom. I stayed 90 days before I even went home. She said just stay there so I waited 90 days went home a few times and in I would come back and forth until I left the house of prayer.

It was a 90 day program. The human being and I did six months and understand and so will have a tomorrow. She passed but you know during that process of going home my mom asked my stepdad. What's he up to assist one of his hoaxes are mainly because she was on pain medicine and my stepdad told my mom said you don't have to worry about that boy anymore. He's made Jesus and he a pastor to churches and walk with the Lord for 62 years and when she told my stepdad told my mom that she got her affairs in order to quit the chemo and left knew that we were both okay. She was done she went home got him or you really did it and I love that the tongue Evans son when he did his mom know you're either healed or your heels, you're either with family or your with family and and and you know you got eternity and I can imagine the joy that she had after many many prayers but speaking of the house of prayer that that she probably lifted so Adam, I'm very curious on your take on Brian so you you you met him. Obviously the second week and not what's your take a moment take on giant on Brian. They call me trippy and I will tell you this one when when Brian first came in he was like most of the guys that first come in note that I call me trippy because I don't give them. I don't give them any corridor immediately. I start talking to him about the moving of the Holy Spirit, the glory of God. What it does do you know how to be led by the spirit of God.

What is it mean when Jesus is my sheep hear my voice and when I said that those things. Brian hunkered down in his in his seat and look like I'm about to go to sleep.

This guy is trick that which is what they do. So then I try to get them to try to get them to meditate to bear in mind a lot of the guys that come to the house of prayer. Addicted to heroin a lot now okay and the whole point is that when I talk to them about is up want you to recognize it.

That addiction is a symptom.

It's not that the problem is pain. The problem is that you don't know Jesus. The problem is lemon to do that is pain how mine and replace it with joy, how my family to get his heart in me okay in the problem.

The end and I teach them how to get still I wanted teach you how to soak in his presence that Terry and adding to soak in his presence, like the Manhattan government, and Mount covered in honey, don't sit there and that was my ride. I how do I do this and that you know is that's the cool thing. The what what would Jesus has done and is doing in Brian's life is just something that is really neat. When you look at that in the Hebrew in the Exodus 6 passage that they use an essay to write that they talk about their, take you out of slavery. That's the first couple wine and the second one is it gonna deliver you from the bondage of slavery is one thing to get out of slavery. It's another thing is like they say you know it. It is not hard to take the Israelite out of Egypt, but it's pretty hard to get Israel out of the Army to Egypt on the Israelite right and that's what the 40 years in the desert was again then let Atticus when he when he says I humbled you Ryan Deuteronomy. I'm sorry that now decide that that whole picture. And so you had that common very bad so I said was is this right you went back and turned herself in. Somehow, for something that they didn't know what I told you that I live Tennessee. I was on probation and when I talked to Tom. I left out a pillow probation officer or anybody anything. I just left and came to the house of prayer. So after I been here six months I had a war for violation of probation. So I go back where I come from and turn myself in and I was alone three years of supervised probation and when I turn myself in. He give me three years at 100% because it was a violation and he give me a break.

The first time so I turned and then I got 18 more months on the charge that I got while I was on probation.

So I got 54 months at 100% and I done 12 months and 27 days in the Lord let me out. You know I was wonder, thereby talks about.

He says I'll get you through it.

But you know don't mean I'll get you out of it. So I went to court and stood there in was okay with it. I knew he had me and them so I done 12 months and 27 days by the grace of God eternally loose and how did that happen. A friend of mine. I used to work for a new somebody needed me back at work and talk to the judge and it was so paper saying you can't get them out in the judge turned me loose that day so I thought.

And then I had no real boiled iron in my starting going backwards and knew where I was headed.

That's when I got out just left everything to settle all my legal. I made another call to Tom a call for laws. Are you called panic is what I would refer to a massive Adam denies another guy that was in that fellowship was Stu Epperson me and Adam back in the 90s called Frank these flaws but see back in 16 when I left the house I leave on good terms. Tom basically run me off if I knew the Lord but I still was just wild okay and so laws came and got me a stay with him for about three weeks. Tom let me come back and have it lift minus Jesus in itself. So how can we hear this, you ran them off. Can you get an innocent expression of that outlet that was well it's some people are easier to love than others. It was, you know, Brian had done well.

He is extremely smart rare intelligent. He was doing the Bible reading and all that but there still was a little bit of an edge on them that he wasn't there just wasn't completely there yet and so sometimes that's what is going to do minnow will were here for you when you're ready, the sorrows of those who chase after other gods will be multiplied so that they will a will and so then did Frank Arafat effort flaws that time did he come in and approach your Adam or how they get back in your good graces really offer call and ringing the phone off the hook and I was grateful that we were full at the time I just could not pay the 21 days was a definite beautiful retreat form because when he walked in the door. 1 He Was Going Way to get there and basically crawled in his hands and knees and said I will do anything below, but in all reality spiritually yet gone through real real transformational process spiritually and in when he got to the house of prayer. He was a different guy.

Then the man that left and he was really ready and he's been nothing but a joy to have have at the house of prayer. Now in and now you know and how God does it. We get ambushed and do things that we never thought would be doing and in and so now minnow when he takes a set of one thing you that's basically our ministry and and brightness demonstrated that the great way help another guys out now's my good friend Bob Young meant that Christian junkyard guy a lot of people knowing this one and nine you pull it in a heat he said it this way when I thought made me disqualified, made me uniquely qualified as he'd been involved in drugs and some other stuff to ask him to teach Sunday's qualities that you gather around their but no no no no no addictions lie in all sorts of places, not just with drugs right and so and teenagers got all those things. And here's a guy that well is dealt with that stuff right answer now as a manager there.

If the house right you're still there to this day, and your unique link you seen the stuff before you you you know what the look is and you know what I imagine as you meet these guys come in and right Brian you been down that road and I made I'm not glorifying the devil. But I was good at it. Six years now I get it and I do sightsee we will go down the same road and you can see, you know, some get it and some don't. And you know what's going to happen.

I mean I'm just speaking from experience that you know you can get out of those holes for so long.

Sometimes you don't get out of the hole because it's a great plow and unfortunately I know if you have a few friends are there, which may be a healing in its own way as well denies the case may be, and so how many guys you guys have to 20 of 20 guys at the house 20 residents and three staff also that live there and you're one of those have to live there yourself.

You have to live with Frank anymore. Frank is TV does it anyway that's that's that's really beautiful, and so the program these days Tom is it still 90 days or what's is it just have a long you think it needs to be well we we we are a minimum of six months. Now we really we really realize that with the opioid epidemic, and now methamphetamines is really just a real horrible drug.

It's really a dirty, messy, rotten chemical toxic drug that does so much damage to the brain and the body literally takes people three months. This the get ahead cleared even be able to receive what were what were serving up at the house of prayer.

So we changed our program to a six-month program. I well we've got another episode still one more section with Adam and Tom and Brian I know you looking forward to that.

I'm curious you can.

You been there a long time, a house of prayer like how is God serve you up in in your time at IHOP. This Tiffany you know Tom Tom and I were Tuesday regulars at for Wise's prayer meeting that he had every Tuesday morning that that's how we knew it when it's a win when Tom got that job. We were all yeah and it okay and then all of a sudden, here comes Tom going good so you and flaws now need to come out here start teaching and the flaws did in does life was dust was an amazing teacher he he's amazing and and then you know Tom so welcoming he learned from for this get this get Adam to do it.

That was less than amazing, but I think it will that what happened out there. Was it and I I just somebody needed to start talking these guys about soaking in the presence of the Lord and in replacing that with with that look.

You got to give me much that he was interesting to me this morning. I'm in the song of songs with you, actually memorizing it because I'm trying to get the idea of the statutes okay and then this idea of getting closer to God in this marriage and it says his left hand is underneath my head. His right hand embraces me okay and and so I was just experiencing that this morning on okay now if you can actually lay down which is the idea of laying down your life for the sheep lay down when you only time you can get this position now is if you lay down. Then he is left him you get under our head in his right hand can embrace you and what you experience when that happens. And so what I experienced was all while on face-to-face man how you face-to-face and actually that's scary to some extent. I cannot even take this debate at end but as I as I soaked it and I said no. This is where I need to be and then I started to realize the joy that was in that and start you know, because in his presence is fullness of joy was you get really in his presence and all of you ever looked at the word embrace in Hebrew Adam because I know Adam is Hebrew fan like me, but the word is spectacular. It's spectacular because it's this idea of the essentially the holiness is that there's a cliff in it which means you get as close to God as you can possibly get to in his house with this strong desire to be encompassed by okay and it all has to do with Jesus like this is for you.

This is a God hug and so what you're doing when you're asking people to soak in his presence is getting that which they were looking for in that high right. Yes, that is exactly ditto: most-nothing that is a good habit of calling did you get that Christian right met down they don't call it the most-you replace it mean that the whole, the whole thing is is that Satan is a liar and I we will have bad enough words for the deed and eat. He steals things of the kingdom from the children in the and offers them the counterfeit so think what I what I when I tell the guys, okay, I want you to imagine that particularly people who been chasing heroin as I understand it. I want to be a poser about this.

I know that because guys told that once you get that first one you're chasing it chasing that same high the entire time you never quite get it again.

He's a liar and a thief in NM in a torture okay so you get them to where they know that they feel like is nothing I can do besides that I'm I'm I'm here in this moment I'm in pain. I don't have to be in pain and 15 minutes. I could not be in pain anymore and it care about that. I don't care if it kills me and you tell those guys okay Jesus will never leave you or forsake you. You can live in the midst of his bliss, but you can learn how to spirit places and replace it with his list because that's eternal words to live by.) Are all looking for that high for the most high thought about that. That's where the house of prayer.
