I'm so excited about Michelle have been all week is God always asked is amazing how many cool people I get to come in contact with and how he's building his kingdom through people's passions and so will just jump right in here. First off, we have Blake Mattix and Blake is with an amazing ministry that I've just found out about recently out of Colorado. I believe 365 minutes of podcast every day on Christian men like day before yesterday was John Bunyan. As we discussed, through the Christian with the plan is progress episode today welcome Blake, good morning.

Thank you for having me on. And while you have a great radio voice and so your pastor right in and so tell me you don't what's 365 men by Christian men in the fulfillment of man and his wife were racing for Sunday man who is passionate about church history and he approached me a little but almost 4 years ago and that I have a vision to write stories, write short inspirational stories about real men historical and modern-day man. We set out with the idea initially that we were going to write one story per day about a man and that we can be either a Oracle man or modern-day man. The idea initially was that we were going to created an e-book for print on demand book and as we started getting into the project and realizing more and more how men are wired.

We realized that that a podcast or a video would probably fit well into the wheelhouse of most men were busy and have lots of demands on their schedule. Really we we built this on the foundation of Hebrews 12 one that were surrounded by great cloud of witnesses who already run the right were in fact running the race now and so we want to write stories that would inspire men challenge men remind men of God's faithfulness that we wanted to do it in short snippets are podcast are 47 minutes in length, we wanted to just give enough to a man every day to do one of those 00 my goodness is it home runs the bases loaded. It is really caught on. I have to tell you my personal experiences. How I found out about it. II actually knowing about it and I saw that my my personal podcast numbers exploded in the month of November, like they never had before and all of a sudden somebody showed me this link that I couldn't believe it.

I still don't believe it bit that one of the men that they wrote about was me and you didn't interview me out so I didn't know it was actually there follow everything like I should. And like all my goodness you guys must have a huge following. Well it's really been incredible. What got done with 365 Christian men we've not marketed it at all really.

It's all been kind of word-of-mouth and really taken this thing and and really brought around the globe and it being featured in lots of different countries and lots of different locations and were just work were actually very humble with what God's been able to do, but really it.

It is method I Jesus taught using parables and stories and… God likes to tell stories. We just kinda partnered with what what God is already done with how God uses people and we just wanted to jump on that incredibly powerful light appreciated out your vulnerability and allow God to speak to you and through you in an minister so that we were honored to do your story and the story of others. Christian men second base here will probably first item we have Sandy Roberson and I hope I get that right Sandy. Here's Asher. He's actually the mayor of the city of Rocky Mount and running for Congress. But how cool that I mean talk about be invulnerable to a Christian man in a step in the political office in times like this on my hats off to you my friend and were just really anxious to hear how God's been working up there. Rocky Mount will you really sure. So no sunroof or mirror really couple years ago years ago our local political situation and really thought you know what God was leading me to do that from the perspective of time to change the conversation would got bogged down into possibly racial alternatives would got bogged down in some things that likely I don't think matter, but generally very divisive boats and so was to at least change the conversation was going on community you not much less when I was very fortunate government blessed us. We were able to win Bob largest majority that ever happened in our community with the most votes were cast in our community and you know while in North Carolina statutorily mirrors very. Very little control or political power or statutory authority know they are there, the spiritual and and so through that platform we been able to stop in to down America Jim down with all other folks in our community. We really just bill to pray for the state Rocky Mount in those initiatives is just wonderful for God or what he's doing and in ways that nobody touches the question that it.just be part of that story or that mission is been exciting to be thought.

Robbie does love the first round so anyway as you thought about this in common. But if you are running with horses right in that same time you're being chased by a lien on your left is a giraffe and underwriters unicorn what are you supposed to do. I have no idea. When would you supposed to do in a situation I completely blank. Well, you just sit back and enjoy your ride on the carousel so you know. And here's another long-held secret. Well, one of their secrets now is to maintain a stable diet okay and I know Sam is like this one. See the horses do run well, they never make it as mayors. They just don't really never make it in any other political office to know why, now I don't tell me I got the idea Sandy they always vote a ladies.

They were just ordinary people think that the beauty of our relationship with God in Scripture build with BMP what I call BMP very messy people and that God's got a call on her life and we walk it out in the met life and we wanted to encourage people who maybe are struggling maybe add something back in. We wanted to be able to remind them that God is not finished. You're still running that race. The other going on. They completed their but were still running and we want to inspire you to continue to run yours.

I live so I have it I there's no doubt of your documents is this look in my car. I let you know how need. I love that BMP's II bent somewhere. I love that. Anyway, so Sandy like how in the world.

Obviously you got the mayor thing and is going super well how did God put it on your heart for this new adventure like Congress really started to me and start filament Russian over and over over my life. Many million cases were God's absolute control and many times in many occasions I have a plan on X billion and quite frankly more because there and so horse thing yet yeah but it's very hard like… I don't know that I answer to that of just on the calling of a thought or collide and looking out not believe that God is there.

Want to answer his call you, but prayer every morning is that God was born around me about family and a multitude of angels around us and that we will not need all moldy and that you direct our steps leave you correctly totally in control or to the extent that I could be for choose to do garden walk and I know that it will type whatever form it takes what it was like Congressman what it was like something else that my job right so cool and it's really made as I have a huge staff your work. So I actually edit Shirley's podcast and so yesterday had a chance to edit her second episode, which is all about authority. I mean just really on-topic. Shirley went with talking about people that are running an office in mayors and and and how we all need to to realize the importance of his authority as a matter fact you may know this. The only time a bit in the Scriptures where it says that Jesus marveled at somebody's faith was when the Romans interior talked about, we can only understand authority right and that was when Jesus you know said he marveled at this Romans faith anyway.

He wasn't even a Jew, rightfully authority really entertaining moves of God and our nation like Sandy are being made to panic and it because of the authority back of God handled their life. The power of God came on the line here that day because of the Lord look upon him and he ran ahead of the really in that same way. Here can understand how our aspect, the authority of God to do exploit their young Daniel spoke of the excellent know God and so we really hear much about the love of God and that at the legally necessary but the power of God. What must come play right now, born in our time. Not only will I cannot count and not stay in this nation but around the world dictate what God is doing and he is a great night so house on wow I'm so excited shares more time with easy Shirley Weaver with running with horses podcast Sandy Roberson. So Sandy, I have noted throughout my life. God give me a lot of interesting adventures.

I get to go on that you know it seems like he's always challenging me beyond what I think I can do and then when I step out on that in a bridge like an Indiana Jones where you know you can't see refer it's going at at and he shows up. You know, wow the adventure is just like oh my goodness I had no idea what this would do for my heart because radios that way for me. I was a car salesman my whole life and I was like what the heck for but so I'm curious I'm very curious IQ step in this job as mayor and I'm I'm sure you had that feeling like man I have no idea where to put down my foot. How did God come after Sandy's heart. Like how did you sense.

Okay, God, this is this is what you are doing, not for the city of Rocky Mount look for Sandy Roberson sure what your talk about all I am overwhelmed by the thing that I realized fairly early on. If I give the proper time and attention to God or spot myself meditating a given time during my it's amazing how much, how to accomplish what I need to accomplish and he also gives me direction and insight as to what I make. And when I'm not doing that you know enough start time to do this tomorrow. I find that I'm overwhelmed and I'm starting to earn a little bit. I can't quite get it Don I'm always 24 hours.

All in all, so it's always a gentle reminder go back meditating or in an amazingly time is created so that we start mayor. I believe that all my business career I have led up to this moment. The benefit not managed thousands of people and be serial on your many places primarily himself, but certainly our district have an understanding of the culture folks in this applicable but it really comes down to. I believe that God just work must never experience about how good and bad or negative consequence of all behavior also served as a teaching moment and so scary is always interesting to go on a new frontier but I've never felt prepared for out there all mile. Just always know either through experience and through God's relationship. They were able to afford conquer where he tells hundred nineteenths on the pay section} is one of my steps that no that not any Deming iniquity would have dominion over me like really cool thing to have struggles with iniquity. You know is is is he'll order our steps will surely am interested in your in your life right as you stepped into the clear trumpet your ministry, your book, how did God sneak up on Shirley and what what did he do for you personally kind of surprised well that like in the last world when they got what I thought Ran back in the final no bearing. The church world not now incredible time in three, but rather to step up like the damper and and to be available to drain the authority that we have not only with the word of God, but standing and leverage our covenant with him and initially Robbie honestly. The Lord really handle my light years ago people giving you the word and you have to pray you to me because I want assurance and thought you do everything in order that in that environment.

I discovered authority and open-door I want it aware of before now like to personally but also our ministry, which is a clear trumpet and Shirley Weaver ministry sort of a hyphenated name.

There idea and still many people as we can as fast as we can, and to bring about the unusual outcome like I like your hat that day and you know I got a call last night from a lady up in Michigan. I believe that is and she was calling for prayer for her sister who was quite ill and the reason she was calling.

Honestly, does she call and she was quite ill. We pray and ravish instantly healed gently and in her mind and in her connection the power connection. She reminded me of it I remember it, I just sent all that memory say thank you God for doing that every chance is beautiful absolutely wonderful break. Blake and obviously have so many different ministries that I'm interested in where where God you know actually came after Blake. Yeah, that's a story for sure season of walking in 365 Christian men came out of the brokenness for me and just the supernatural opening of the door for me to step into this just just as the stories begin to come to light.

We just actually started what will calling adorned women, which is the sister to 365 men were writing stories about women and so for me came out of the brokenness and the process of walking through with the writers, narrators and other team members that we have hope this just brought me back to the faithfulness of God. God is faithful God was faithful in the past.

Be faithful now and will be faithful and the teacher end up and and so it's just been a great season for me of the just reminding myself of God's goodness in God's faithfulness and the importance of doing what it is that God called us to do and so I get for me has been to such an exciting, almost 4 years now. We started this in 2018 and so will will will of been doing this for four years here the next couple months and just amazing when you turn it like I know I have all kinds of faith in God.

But the really weird turnaround on that is, he has faith in me.

I I still sit amazed it at what God does through people that are just listen and so I'm curious of all the stories that you've had which story grabbed you the most and would you share a little bit of it with our listeners. Well that it that is a really question because we we got 365 of them. I think you know your mean we we wrote your story and yet I was challenged by that story because you know in the busyness of our life and the demands on our schedules. We can easily be distracted from being a part of what what God wanting to do. Sandy you were mentioning the importance of that time of abiding in ending time with God. We wrote with every story, but we call it timeless truth born anchor in the one that we wrote for your story.

I think for me every story every time I listen to not listen to all of them multiple times. There's fresh revelation comes from that. That's God's favor. That's God's wisdom is that the power story and that's what Jesus spoke in parables to the power of story, God not only transforms the ones others like I love the James Dobson story that we wrote James Dobson tells the tennis player at UCLA end up many, many years later while you start proud of the trophies that he had one more you know his tenant actually UCLA and years and years later he was rummaging through a dumpster in the back of the campus somewhere and they they had made the decision it was time to get rid of the trophies and I remember James Dobson coined the phrase delightful pressure trophies and just just again another reminder of you know what we put our but we put our priorities in our focus and are the temporal things for the eternal thing though it would be hard for me to pick one story because every story seems like it has new new banner for the day. I love that you mentioned that because this morning on my way eyes the Christian card I show I did on proximity has to do with holiness right that that the closer you get to God the holder and I thought about in my own life. What challenged me the most was. I'd love to hunt and fish and love to fish and I could get up some recent Robbie were going fishing tomorrow morning. Can we get up at 1 o'clock to meet you go to the beach without hesitating man, I'd be up and ready to go but it challenge me tremendously that I didn't have that same at one point my life forever like to get up at one in the morning. If I thought I could meet with God. But then as is. I began understand like oh my goodness he's up for that. If you want to get up at one he'll get up at one with you right Sandy, I mean that's what you're explaining my story and compulsory like a cochlear call about you – God you don't know which don't you will rebuild. That's been my experience all I was always inconvenient and on-call.

In time, typically for me but I relish the opportunity. You know, and I relish even. What seems to be a negative light of the moment is well-founded.

Is this really a learning experience than those of the things that have enriched my life in a very real and tangible and Shirley really got a couple minutes left alone to get to in your life do you find the same thing like oh my goodness I get to spend time with the God and slightly presence of God with dark, we cannot go without our knowledge, practicing the presence of God here.

You're just empty kind of a shell really liked because that shell is meant to hold God without it, you know, it's just that this guy goes around in their and I love that concept that you that you talk about both your podcasts that you know it's fundamental what Moses said and what because he understood it, but I thought about it like he's the guy that had the courage whenever they often want to talk to God my kilt you go Moses you got the mountain were good were over encourage you know that that it took to climb up thing man considered to be scary from lightning and all that stuff pregnant pregnant online with In the future. The plan just not just today, tomorrow and next day because there is a plan.
